My wife and I have been staying at The Spier since 2004. As usual the staff were welcoming and friendly and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant one evening. We love being able to walk on the estate in a safe and secure environment. Our one disappointment is the fact that the big screen in the bar area had been removed so what used to be the focal point in the evening and where guests would gather for a nice drink and a chat had gone.

The hotel has just been renovated and you can really tell, everything was beautiful and fresh. The room was lovely, roomy and the bed was very comfortable and it was a pleasant surprise to have a mini-bar with complimentary drinks included. The stay comes with a complimentary wine tasting and I'd recommend taking this, Tyson was so knowledgeable and passionate. We had a LOT of wine tastings while in Stellenbosch and Franschoek and this was the most informative one we had. The breakfast was amazing, a lovely cold spread with a great selection of hot foods and really nice coffee. We didn't eat in the main restaurant as we'd booked a local fine-dining restaurant months in advance and were fine-dining-ed out so went to Vadas, the smokehouse within the hotel grounds for the other night. This is a 5 min stroll and was fantastic, really good smokehouse food with brilliant waiting staff and of course, great wine. The grounds are fantastic for exploring and the pool is a lovely place to while away a few hours with an extensive and well priced food, cocktail and wine list. We would (and hopefully will!) happily return

The Spier is a lovely vineyard with good accommodation. They are now starting a complete renovation of the hotel and keeping all their staff on as part of the plan . I have always felt completely safe and cared for within the hotel grounds . A wonderful breakfast in the sunshine is the perfect way to start the day . There are many things to do swimming , cycling , walking , visit the hotel vegetable garden and see the birds enroute . I look forward to visiting Spier next year after its renovation

This is an absolutely beautiful place. Highly recommend the picnic and exploring the grounds. 1 night was not enough. Room was large and the bathroom was fantastic - that tub! the outdoor seating was nice to enjoy a wine. Restaurant breakfast was delicious.

Beautiful, clean, family friendly which means that everything closes at nine, so no late night drinks in Spier. Very friendly staff. Nothing close to this so you need a car or uber to go anywhere. Uber to Stellenbosch less than 5 euros. Beautiful wines, especially reds.

Spier is a fabulous place. We've been coming here for 10 years and they continue to put in new art, the grounds are always becoming more beautiful and the staff are still there and just outstanding as always. Love! Great for families too.

Die Anlage ist gigantisch, das Zimmer groß mit Balkon bzw Terrasse und separatem Pool im Garten. Der echte Kamin ist klasse, das Frühstück ist mehr als ausreichend. Der große Pool ist auch toll für Kinder, wir empfehlen auch die Weinprobe und den „Anwohnerrabatt“ beim Weinkauf. Jede Menge Spielplätze und Märkte, alles ist gesichert und umzäunt, man kann auch super allein durch die Weinberge joggen gehen.

Very friendly & helpful staff, beautiful grounds with so much to do, stunning art work every where Excellent food & drink everywhere many locally produced. Spacious, immaculate double room, on top of 2 storey block of 4 rooms. Bathroom in our room was vintage in style but well maintained and immaculately clean with double shower, bath and 2 basins. They're undergoing a refurb in March to upgrade these rooms. We had access to 1 off the 6 outdoor pools shared by small group of rooms as well as main hotel pool. Lots to do on site- wine tasting, craft market - run by the artists eagles, Segway tours, river walk, cycling, picnics small well equipped gym, spa also family friendly with a kid's club & play area etc. Enjoy!

Es liegt sehr gut und man ist schnell auf vielen Weingütern. Für uns als Familie war es super, hat viele andere Familien und die Anlage ist gross und weitläufig, kann es sehr empfehlen. Die Zimmer und vor Allem das Badezimmer sind in die Jahren gekommen, sollten bald mal rennoviert werden.
Es liegt sehr gut und man ist schnell auf vielen Weingütern. Für uns als Familie war es super, hat viele andere Familien und die Anlage ist gross und weitläufig, kann es sehr empfehlen. Die Zimmer und vor Allem das Badezimmer sind in die Jahren gekommen, sollten bald mal rennoviert werden.

This was our first visit and stay at The Spier Hotel. First we entered the gate and seen this beautiful calm space with plenty of trees and flowers. Welcome wine at the lobby was also nice. The access to our room was also good, however if it was raining then it might be little tough to the room.(there was no rain during our stay). Room was quiet and clean and modern design. Fire place was also nice thing to have. Wine tasting, bakery, craft shop was fun experience. Restaurant was fantastic, taste really good and the staff was friendly and professional. We would like to visit again!

This is a beautiful hotel, just renovated and reopened in March 2025 in one of Stellenbosch’s oldest wineries. We enjoyed the knowledgeable wine tasting by Sommelier Tyson who also assisted us with a fine wine at the charming open kitchen restaurant. Everything is farm to table, fresh and excellent. Enjoyed the walks and the art installations as well. The service was so outstanding, we only had to mention we needed something to have someone immediately appear to help.

Es liegt sehr gut und man ist schnell auf vielen Weingütern. Für uns als Familie war es super, hat viele andere Familien und die Anlage ist gross und weitläufig, kann es sehr empfehlen. Die Zimmer und vor Allem das Badezimmer sind in die Jahren gekommen, sollten bald mal rennoviert werden.
Es liegt sehr gut und man ist schnell auf vielen Weingütern. Für uns als Familie war es super, hat viele andere Familien und die Anlage ist gross und weitläufig, kann es sehr empfehlen. Die Zimmer und vor Allem das Badezimmer sind in die Jahren gekommen, sollten bald mal rennoviert werden.

This was our first visit and stay at The Spier Hotel. First we entered the gate and seen this beautiful calm space with plenty of trees and flowers. Welcome wine at the lobby was also nice. The access to our room was also good, however if it was raining then it might be little tough to the room.(there was no rain during our stay). Room was quiet and clean and modern design. Fire place was also nice thing to have. Wine tasting, bakery, craft shop was fun experience. Restaurant was fantastic, taste really good and the staff was friendly and professional. We would like to visit again!

The hotel has just been renovated and you can really tell, everything was beautiful and fresh. The room was lovely, roomy and the bed was very comfortable and it was a pleasant surprise to have a mini-bar with complimentary drinks included. The stay comes with a complimentary wine tasting and I'd recommend taking this, Tyson was so knowledgeable and passionate. We had a LOT of wine tastings while in Stellenbosch and Franschoek and this was the most informative one we had. The breakfast was amazing, a lovely cold spread with a great selection of hot foods and really nice coffee. We didn't eat in the main restaurant as we'd booked a local fine-dining restaurant months in advance and were fine-dining-ed out so went to Vadas, the smokehouse within the hotel grounds for the other night. This is a 5 min stroll and was fantastic, really good smokehouse food with brilliant waiting staff and of course, great wine. The grounds are fantastic for exploring and the pool is a lovely place to while away a few hours with an extensive and well priced food, cocktail and wine list. We would (and hopefully will!) happily return

This is an absolutely beautiful place. Highly recommend the picnic and exploring the grounds. 1 night was not enough. Room was large and the bathroom was fantastic - that tub! the outdoor seating was nice to enjoy a wine. Restaurant breakfast was delicious.

Die Anlage ist gigantisch, das Zimmer groß mit Balkon bzw Terrasse und separatem Pool im Garten. Der echte Kamin ist klasse, das Frühstück ist mehr als ausreichend. Der große Pool ist auch toll für Kinder, wir empfehlen auch die Weinprobe und den „Anwohnerrabatt“ beim Weinkauf. Jede Menge Spielplätze und Märkte, alles ist gesichert und umzäunt, man kann auch super allein durch die Weinberge joggen gehen.

Fabulous stay, looking forward to returning next year. Very friendly & helpful staff, beautiful grounds with so much to do, stunning art work every where Excellent food & drink everywhere many locally produced. Spacious, immaculate double room, on top of 2 storey block of 4 rooms. Bathroom in our room was vintage in style but well maintained and immaculately clean with double shower, bath and 2 basins. They're undergoing a refurb in March to upgrade these rooms. We had access to 1 off the 6 outdoor pools shared by small group of rooms as well as main hotel pool. Lots to do on site- wine tasting, craft market - run by the artists eagles, Segway tours, river walk, cycling, picnics small well equipped gym, spa also family friendly with a kid's club & play area etc. Enjoy!

Hotel estilo resort, com bastante crianças. Quartos e banheiros grandes, em formato de vilas, por vezes afastados do local do café da manhã e piscina. Você vai precisar de carro para visitar a cidade de Stellenbosch e as vinicolas da região, o que não foi um problema para nós pois estávamos de carro. No geral o hotel não tem nenhum charme especial mas é uma boa opção na região.

Rooms were clean and surprisingly very spacious. Bed was absolutely comfortable. Option to have breakfast in the room was a bonus. Only drawback was staff was not as attentive. Not very welcoming at check-in, service was slow at dinner, overall staff did not come across as friendly. We had to ask for assistance/attention at check in, despite staff seeing us being dropped off with luggage or to be served at dinner and by the pool, which we found to be a bit off putting

Das Personal liest einem jeden Wunsch von den Augen ab und man erkennt an jedem Detail in der ganzen Anlage die Hingabe, die reingesteckt wird. Wir werden definitiv wiederkommen, aber empfehlen mindestens 3 Nächte, um alle Erfahrungen mitnehmen zu können.

This is a beautiful hotel, just renovated and reopened in March 2025 in one of Stellenbosch’s oldest wineries. We enjoyed the knowledgeable wine tasting by Sommelier Tyson who also assisted us with a fine wine at the charming open kitchen restaurant. Everything is farm to table, fresh and excellent. Enjoyed the walks and the art installations as well. The service was so outstanding, we only had to mention we needed something to have someone immediately appear to help.

Arrived fairly late in the afternoon and we were unaware of the Wine tasting included in the hotel price. The receptionist called the Wine tasting and they fitted us last minute. Very considerate and helpful staff.

Reservamos uma diária para passar meu aniversário em Stellenbosch e não poderia ter escolhido lugar melhor. Fui recepcionada da melhor maneira, com uma garrafa de vinho de presente e um bilhetinho super fofo da equipe.O dia foi perfeito, cada lugar da propriedade é de uma beleza ímpar, o lugar é absolutamente encantador. A cultura da Spier é muito bonita, muito preocupados com a sustentabilidade e ajudam em projetos sociais. Fizemos duas degustações de vinho, sendo uma delas uma experiência proporcionada pelo hotel aos hóspedes. A comida é maravilhosa, o quarto é maravilhoso! Enfim, foi tudo perfeito!

Foi incrível, a vinícola é belíssima o quarto super confortável e o atendimento impecável, o bar tem drinks maravilhoso e a comida do restaurante é sensacional. Recomendo muito! Fiquei com vontade de ficar mais dias e com toda certeza em outra oportunidade eu voltarei. Era minha lua de mel e nos deixaram um recadinho super fofo.

The Spier is a lovely vineyard with good accommodation. They are now starting a complete renovation of the hotel and keeping all their staff on as part of the plan . I have always felt completely safe and cared for within the hotel grounds . A wonderful breakfast in the sunshine is the perfect way to start the day . There are many things to do swimming , cycling , walking , visit the hotel vegetable garden and see the birds enroute . I look forward to visiting Spier next year after its renovation

Beautiful, clean, family friendly which means that everything closes at nine, so no late night drinks in Spier. Very friendly staff. Nothing close to this so you need a car or uber to go anywhere. Uber to Stellenbosch less than 5 euros. Beautiful wines, especially reds.

This is an absolutely beautiful place. Highly recommend the picnic and exploring the grounds. 1 night was not enough. Room was large and the bathroom was fantastic - that tub! the outdoor seating was nice to enjoy a wine. Restaurant breakfast was delicious.

Foi incrível, a vinícola é belíssima o quarto super confortável e o atendimento impecável, o bar tem drinks maravilhoso e a comida do restaurante é sensacional. Recomendo muito! Fiquei com vontade de ficar mais dias e com toda certeza em outra oportunidade eu voltarei. Era minha lua de mel e nos deixaram um recadinho super fofo.

Rooms were clean and surprisingly very spacious. Bed was absolutely comfortable. Option to have breakfast in the room was a bonus. Only drawback was staff was not as attentive. Not very welcoming at check-in, service was slow at dinner, overall staff did not come across as friendly. We had to ask for assistance/attention at check in, despite staff seeing us being dropped off with luggage or to be served at dinner and by the pool, which we found to be a bit off putting

Absolutely Exceptional Stay – 5 Stars! We had a truly wonderful experience at this hotel, and everything about our stay was top-tier. The Staff: The service here is nothing short of sensational. The entire team, from the seamless check-in to the smooth check-out, was incredibly professional, warm, and attentive. They truly made us feel welcome.Amenities & Facilities: The hotel offers a superb variety of things to do, and all the facilities are kept in excellent condition. Food & Wine: The culinary experience was a major highlight.
