Hibiscus Lodge

The views from the Lodge's different balconies were amazing! There was private access to the ocean which was a good place to swim in However, the last two steps down into the water were very mossy. I want to encourage them to clean those steps though using concrete scrapers. I really liked the property though, it was beautiful and serene.

Lovely property. Clean and well maintained. Lots of quiet garden areas. Perfect for a wedding. In fact there was a wedding happening during our stay. Rooms were clean, we had some issues with the drain in the bathtub but the staff was responsive to try and fix the issue. The restaurant on site was excellent. Breakfast was included in stay and it was very good. The hotel is located right on Main Street so close to other restaurants and attractions such as Dunn’s River and mystic mountain was just a short 10 minute drive. There is access to the beach on the property. However Mahogany Beach is close by and it’s a short walk (less than 10 minutes). Overall I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a smaller hotel option..

I found this hotel to be very beautiful. The location is gorgeous, overlooking the azure and glistening waters of the Caribbean sea. Housekeeping was on point and the staff at check-in were very helpful in getting us situated and answering our questions. I appreciated the free breakfast each morning, although the portion sizes were quite small. The only other thing that could've made my stay better would have been access to the beach, but the property does boast a pool and hottub.

Close to the town and the hotspots. Beautiful grounds. Clean pool, working jacuzzi. Good food and grounds didnt seem crowded, even with a wedding on property at time of my visit

I loved the location, you can access the sea right from the hotel. I liked that there clientele was mostly older adults and older teens. I'll definitely comeback again

Beautiful private beach is a major plus. Room very clean and comfortable. Only downside was feeling a little uneasy walking around surrounding area at night. Some nice dining options within walking distance. Highly recommended property

If you're looking for a place that is conveniently located to the local shops and Mahogany Beach well this is it. Our room was located on the 2nd floor and the view of the ocean from the balcony was so beautiful. We brought our own washcloths and housekeeping washed them for us every morning and returned them back to our room. The breakfast was complimentary and so delicious. I wanted Jamaican homestyle dishes and the chef did not disappoint. Also, the pastries and bread are made on the property, we purchased a loaf to take back home with us. The staff was very courteous, helpful, and pleasant. If you don't mind some loud music from the locals at night or if you're here on Sunday you can here the church service and gospel music from the church across the street. Even those things made my experience that much more real. The garden was nice and perfect place to take pictures. The parrot did not want take photos lol. The tunnel entrance to their manmade beach was so cool especially if you go at night, but that "beach" was for people who just want to sunbathe. If you want the full beach experience walk down the street and spend the 500JAMD, (a little over $3USD) to enjoy the beach. The pool and hot tub was a nice addition and made for a cool way to relax after a hot day. Beach towels are available at the front office.

First time staying and we loved every minute of it here. Quaint and a pretty spot right by the water. Love the breakfast, lunch/dinner at their Almond restaurant. Staff amazing. Room with balcony was lovely! Family friendly and felt very safe. Solo travelers friendly. Mahogany beach is 10-15mit walk! This beach has delicious food, clear shallow water, & excursion boats. However, I think Hisbiscus Lodge’s beach(?) is the best for snorkeling lovers. We dived in every chance we got. Soooooo many fish and creatures to explore especially on the rocky wall side of it!! They should really advertise this point. We really didn’t need to go anywhere else for snorkeling though we enjoyed the Mahogany beach/Dunns river fall excursion boat from it. *when you dive, the lodge side of the wall has wired fence around it with thousands of fish living around there. Just watch out for one or two lion fish that lives there too. It has polka dot fins that you can see peaking behind that fence. They won’t attack unless you provoke them. We just stayed little away from those spots but otherwise we lovvvvvvvvved diving in here every single day. We did not need to go on a snorkeling boat where we saw like three fishes at the beach where Dunn’s river fall is. We were told there are gift shops and all in walkable distance but didn’t check them out. I suggest you come in from MBJ airport as that is the closest one and excursions/pickups happen in Montigo Bay/ocho rios. We will definitely come back here.

Excellent hotel, service was superb. My visit at hotel included a prearranged wedding services for my daughter. We had many guest from USA and Jamaica and they all were impressed with the beautiful wedding the hotel setup. The hotel desk supervisor was very kind, helpful and proactive at organizing and organized top people to organize wedding with colorful decorations and excellent food and music. My family will make this our place to go in future yearly.

The room was clean, spacious with a magnificent view of the Caribbean sea. I definitely enjoyed the small beach area which followed the breakfast that was served. Overall, my stay was great!

This hotel is lovely for a short stay. Very nice garden area and sea view. The rooms were very clean and had sea/pool view. My only issue with the room was the toilet ceiling opens up into the room. Not great if you’re looking for a quiet stay or you are a light sleeper as there is a club across the road which you can hear all night. I love that there is like a private viewing platform of the sea (not a beach). Overall I would stay again for a quick stop off in ocho Rios

Room was clean. Needed more bath gel and shampoo. TV had multiple issues had to call for help.

I got 4 single beds instead of 2 double beds.. The pool and Hot tub was very dirty.. reception staff wasn't very friendly

The lodge is lovely. Great views, nice grounds, clean rooms. Only real drawback was the volume of the music from the nearby nightclub (and church). Difficult to sleep on the weekends.

Everything is perfect to be honest but they don't mention or try to advise the guest regarding the club behind the hotel with music every day until 4:00 am. It would have been perfect to inform in advance since it shouldn't be a surprise for the hotel and if they want to raise the level, some earplugs, jejeje

My husband and I stayed for one night, the check in process was seem less . We had a few issues in the room but it was fixed quickly. One thing though we didn’t know that the standard room doesn’t comes with wash rags.

I usually don’t leave bad reviews. But Hibiscus front desk person needs to get some training on hospitality. Check in she (front desk lady) was not smiling or did not explain about the lunch or dinner hours. Only breakfast……. That’s is what I wanted to stay there for more convenient for me & my 73 year old aunt. Every time I would come to ask anything she was very snappy. For future reference for this place Hibiscus please note that if you’re staying in a standard room that you all don’t give WASH TOWELS (face towel) for your guests. So happy I travel with everything I need. TV IS A NOT WORKING…. Ask to get help to work TV….when I checked in & no one came to fix the TV my whole stay. I was told this was a non smoking place . & persons was smoking on there balcony weed & cigarettes… so I followed the rules and instructions & smoked my cigarettes by the road. Good day & god bless your soul

For the price, Hibiscus Lodge was as expected. The front desk staff could have had better customer service. Anytime I called to complain about not having hot water, their response “no one else has complained about this, but we’ll send someone.” Umm.. I don’t care what anyone else has complained about, I’m complaining now. Other than the water issue and outdated rooms, it wasn’t a terrible stay. The restaurant, complimentary breakfast, great bar, bartenders and nice staff everywhere else, made up for it. The stay was also in a convenient location, making it easy to walk around downtown Ocho Rios with no problems. Would I stay here again, most likely due to how cheap it was. Just make sure if you reserve a standard room, washcloths do not come with it. Bring a loofa or your own washcloths.

I love the property but your front desk personnel are horrible. I think they taking their problem from home to work.

The person at the front desk for check-in was not friendly. It’s almost like they couldn’t be bothered with you there no information whatever it’s like he was pulling teeth to get some information from them.

This hotel's property is absolutely gorgeous. It gives Mediterranean vibes since it's built into a cliff on the water. The staff was super friendly. Very accommodating. The breakfast was perfect. A great way to start the day. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a true jamaican experience.

Great staffs, i give it an excellent

Stayed at Hibiscus Lodge Jan 31–Feb 2 for a family event (7 rooms total). Most staff were kind and respectful, but one front-desk employee (no name tag) completely ruined our experience. At checkout we were told to “go sit down and wait” while rooms were searched for missing items. Her tone was rude and condescending. This checkout process took 45 minutes out of our day. We were told a towel was missing and we’d be charged $3,500 JMD. I asked three times how much it would cost because I just wanted to pay and leave. Each time she dismissively said “I’m on the phone” while on her personal cell phone. I asked her if they searched the room and was told yes, everywhere, and the towel could not be found. I went to the room myself with my niece again I asked the housekeeper if she searched the whole room she said yes, my niece went into the bathroom and found the towel hanging on the towel rack. The housekeeper then apologized and said it was a mistake. This felt like an attempted scam. Back at the front desk, the same woman refused to give me the refund receipt even though I paid for the rooms, saying she got the key from my nephew so she would only give it to him. I had to take the receipt myself. Despite this woman’s and housekeepers deplorable conduct, the view was beautiful, but being falsely accused of missing items. I strongly believe guests are being targeted during checkout in a scam. Would not recommend based on front-desk conduct and checkout practices.

Front desk was very welcoming, we only stayed 2 nights and our first night was great. The second day the wait staff was not going in order and we waited for our breakfast for almost an hour. Unacceptable. Otherwise the bar guys and front staff was great.

Property was lovely, from customer service to aesthetics. However surrounding areas are noisy. Was a 8/10 experience

The location suited me. It was convenient to get the local transportation to go where ever I needed to.

It's my second time at this property and i really enjoy it. It's closeby to shopping and nightlife. The beach is a 4 minute walk. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

In a more run down section of Ocho Rios, but once you enter the compound everything changes for the better. Comfortable rooms (though need more outlets or some USB ports). Gorgeous views of the ocean from everywhere. Nice little restaurant and fun bar. Definitely glad we stayed here.

This property is an oasis in a very urban area. convient to transportation to anywhere on the island, walkable ,safe, good shooping, food , restaurants etc.

I would stay there again but I will not have dinner there ever again. Shockingly slow & inconsistent quality which never passed average in quality of food.

Great views and beautiful quaint grounds. Restaurant was excellent killer views and great food. Very pleasant stay overall.

Breakfast had very few options as is, what made matters worse is the fact numerous items on the menu weren’t available. I ate the same thing everyday. I only chose hibiscus for the included breakfast. Just go to a all inclusive.
