The hotel is quiet and the parkink is convenient. I have stayed in this motel 3 times a year for the past four years. It has steadily gone down hill. It has worn carpet and broken tiles all over. The hot tub heater is still broken since we started staying here. The pool finally opened after four years. The phones only call in house so if you don't have a cell phone your screwed. This is my last time ever staying here. Would not recommend this place.

This is a ‘you get what you pay for’ property. Our room had items left in the fridge and on the window sill, the bathroom looked half-ass cleaned, and there was an awful smell in the hallways. There was a pool and hot tub, which our family enjoyed but again, it just seemed dirty in the area. Also, do not drink the water out of the water fountains!

I chose this hotel because it was right off the highway and had pull thru parking for my truck and trailer. Worked out great and was a nice place to stay.

*The hotel smells so bad of marijuana first of all. I almost felt like I was going to get a contact high. *The pool area is in serious need of a scrubbing. If they had better ventilation it wouldn’t be this bad with the mold, mildew and rust. If you are needing the handicapped lift for the pool you might want to think again. It’s rusted and I wouldn’t trust it at all. *The elevator has broken floor tile, and tape over some of the buttons like they broke. *The room itself looks to be updated but they didn’t clean up the construction dust. The air conditioner unit is so full of white construction debris. *We didn’t make it to breakfast as it was already cleaned up at 930am on a Sunday. I thought it was open till 10 on weekends. Oh well Overall I would “splurge” on a different hotel in Hays instead of this one in Ellis. For $89 a night it’s not worth it to have the awful smell of marijuana in the hotel and stuck in the bedding and towels.

The hot tub water was not very warm and the clock in the pool room was dead. Nice hotel.

The key machine was not working so staff had to let you into your room. They never confirmed ID before allowing you in. Spiders in the bathroom, only one towel provided. AC sounded like compressor was going out and continually tried to start and turn back off. It was loud all night. Breakfast was only cereal, waffle and toast. No healthier options such as fruit or yogurt that you normally see.

I only got a hotel for the night because the well at my deciesed moms house where we are working is being treated, our bodies are aching and we were told not to bathe in the water for a while and wanted to shower and sit in the hot tub. We were advised on check in that the hot tub isnt working and there is dried blood in the top of the shower, there is a quarter of a roll of toilet paper left from previous guests and our sheets have a bunch of yellowish brown stains on them. There are plenty of other hotels in Hays we could have stayed in but the hot tub was the deciding factor for this place and it doesnt work, I'm disapointed, as i try to sleep with an achy body in this hotel room that also has a funk smell. Too tired to pack everything to fight for a new room... Not happy!

The rooms were horribly filthy. My feet were black walking on the hitel floor. There was so much dirt in our ac i had to put a towel over it for a filter. Ring in toilet, ring in bathroom. Totally unacceptable in my opinion

The room was filthy. The floors had dried on food - I hope it was food. It wasn't just that one cleaning missed some things. It was so bad we slept in our clothes on top of the blankets and made sure our feet didn't touch the floor. We didn't shower because the bathroom was so dirty. .

It’s truly astonishing that this place hasn’t been shut down. The filth is profound. The bed was stained; the floors are covered in dust, crumbs, and dead bugs; the outside of the toilet bowl was drenched in urine, as seen with a black light; and there are razor-sharp metal sheets in and around the elevator, which a child could very easily slice their finger on. The absolute worst thing is the shower/bathtub, which had massive amounts of thick, visible black scum. With a tissue, it was able to start coming off, so it’s definitely not a stain. I can’t even imagine how long you’d have to go without cleaning the tub for it to get that abysmal. The lobby and elevator were such a uniquely awful, intense smell that I thought I would vomit passing through them. The pillows smell as well. I see the issue of cleanliness has come up in other reviews, and the owner likes to respond with “it’s a budget hotel,” but being a budget hotel is not an invitation to break health code. If they want to save money, perhaps they shouldn’t be leaving the AC at 45 degrees, which mine was set to upon arrival. Other concerns include that it seems there’s never anyone at the check-in desk. There’s a sign pointing to a phone that it says to use to call for someone, but the phone appeared to be disconnected upon arrival. And the dryer in the second floor laundry room sounds like a rusty old swing that you can hear all the way down the hall, making it impossible to sleep at night.

As other reviews noted, the toilet had a black ring in it from not being cleaned. There was an odd smell all around the 3rd floor. The hotel in general was just not clean.

Dirty. Bathroom did not appear to have been cleaned for a while.

The room was not cleaned properly, when entering the room there was a dirty sock under the edge of the bed. In further looking under the bed another sock was found that didn’t match the first sock as well as a dental pick.Only 1 channel worked on tv. The sheets on bed had ripped edges. Breakfast cereal was stale. Front desk was not attended, always had to call for someone to come help.

The hotel was dirty. The bathroom hasn't been cleaned. Toiled had mold lines, tub was filty i used a towel to stand on. It smelled like smoke. The breakfast was toast, bagel, cereal or waffel no protein just carbs. The water fountain had build up on it and water in the room tasted terrible

The rooms were unclean :( The nice receptionist gave us a new room, but it was not that much better. Very dusty, dirty toilet bowls, stained chairs, sheets and pillows, stained carpets, funny smells. The worse part is that we saw 3 bugs in our room 😢. I was very stressed and management did not address my concerns. Its okay, I just know never to stay here again.

Stayed here for one evening in early June to get out of the severe weather. Don't know when was the last time I paid under $55 for a motel room, but given that price I thought the place was very good. Although the breakfast was skimpy and lacked coffee, the room was extremely clean, the location very quiet and the bed comfortable. Would stay here again if I was passing through.

We arrived late at night, since we just needed a place to get some solid sleep on our road trip. The guy that checked us is was friendly. But then it quickly started to go downhill. Firstly, there was a bright light on the wall that lit up the entire room, even when all the lights were out. (It's the thermostat) Then the refrigerator was making loud noises on and off all night. At 9:AM there was the knock on the door and a lady entered, waking us both up. I had gotten maybe 4 hours sleep by then. Then again, as we were actually waking up, another knock and enter by the housekeeper. Mind you, the do not disturb sign is on the door.

The property could use some updating, some of the tiles are cracked, the decor in our room was dark and outdated. Breakfast was minimal. The price was less than others in the area and our room was clean.

Safe, quiet location. Spacious room with fridge. Easy access to interstate for getting back on the road.

Clean and comfy for one night stay

Second stay here and both times, very clean, comfortable beds and quiet.

The door didn’t lock automatically. The latch was broken.

Very comfortable bed. Small pillows, however. Carpet had stains. Shower was great. We only stopped to sleep & it was exactly what we needed. Breakfast was simple; waffles, yogurt, cereal, waffles.

Sounded like the people on the floor above were stomping. And a tv somewhere was loud.

The First room was missing the toilet seat and the Second one the Air Conditioner struggled to keep the room cool.

The gentleman working the counter saw that I was having problems with my baggage. He came over and carried to our room.

The property location was convenient. It took nearly an hour to register because of personnel issues. We were first given a key to a room with a broken lock. We were told the owner left town a few days ago and he was the only one that could open the doors with broken locks. The maintenance man was helpful but he had just been hired and had no training. He did finally get us some help eventhough he was not "on the clock" I had to go downstairs twice to get help then waited in the hall for over an hour before we got a room. One of the rooms had a burned out overhead light bulb. The bed was fine and the air conditioner worked so it was not hot in the room. The overall problem was with the owner or manager's lack of well trained employees. The employees we met wanted to help and tried their best. There was one well trained employee that held the whole thing together.

The check in lady was rude she turned me away when i had a reservation i stay there ALOT i will never go back after this incounter

Staff was banging on my door claiming it was 11am checkout time and it wasn’t.

The front desk crew is awesome and super helpful

I have been staying at this location for years. I like the Cancun Mexican restaurant across the street. The rooms are clean although I think the property is not as nice as it was several years ago. There is rarely someone at the front desk - you have to call which seems strange to me. Staff were attentive and polite.

Unfortunately upon check-in, my room was not ready, told I could get a room with 2 beds, walked in, it was a room 1 bed. When I went straight back to the counter, the gentlemen said, oh I thought you were by yourself, not sure how that mattered, you said no King available (what my reservation was for), so I could get a room with 2 queens. Anyhow, they corrected, with all the sudden a King that was not available 10 minutes before. However the keycard access on the room did not work, staff had to help each time to get in the room. I was even told at one point "is there someone else in the room. I said yes, my husband. They said that I would need to call him to let me me in" - as their master card was not working either. I don't think that having to seek out a staff member each time to enter my room was okay. I was told to avoid this, keep the door ajar. What?? So my room can be looked in (we had a room right by the check-in counter) so that my room can be left unsecure? My daughter also had a room, her AC was not working, woke up at 2am with a temp of 85 degrees in her room. Hotel was completely booked, so there were no other rooms to move to. Upon check-out, we were all told that we would need to speak with the manager in order to issue any kind of discount, etc. Well this was Saturday, 7am, it is now Monday, 1230pm we have still not been able to contact a manager. Will not stay again, would rather sleep in car with working locks and AC.

I didn't like the fact that we stayed 4 nights and had to go get out toilet paper and kleenex, they never gave ui clean towels and never made the beds or emptied the trash the whole time

It’s fine if you just want a place to sleep halfway between KC and Denver.

Great place to stop when you just want a convenient place right off the highway.

Overall it was a basic over priced hotel, run down inside and no local food places anywhere other than fast food 2 options.

An excellent place to stay if you are traveling between KC and Colorado; it's about halfway. Immaculate property. Across the street is an excellent Mexican restaurant; also a large gas station and A & W.

Easy access on and off I-70. Staff was nice and check-in was easy. Carpet needs cleaning. Good for an overnight stay.

Close to I-70 and plenty of parking. Close to many food choices. Great RATE. Good basic breakfast with waffles, cereal, bagels, coffee and orange juice. Friendly staff.

It's right of I70 so great place to stop and get some rest on a road trip.

The room was decent and clean, there was a 24 hour truck stop across the road so we were able to get a few things we needed without having to go far. The staff was pleasant. I would stay here again for the night when passing by for sure.

The free breakfast is a joke/terrible. Great if you only like fruit loops. Other guests were talking about going to the gas station across the street for coffee as opposed to drinking the warm water being served as coffee. Stay somewhere else.

The only thing i did not like was the breakfast. Coffee was weak. The milk smelled sour with chunks on The spout. And waffles were not mixed correctly.

The room was very clean but the entrance to the hotel smelled very strongly of cat pee. The continental breakfast they filled at 6am and never refilled the stuff that was gone including the coffee

I was disappointed with the breakfast; thought there might be something better than what was there. Not a great selection. Lack of a hair dryer was also disappointing, though the woman at the desk was so nice to try to find me one to borrow. Unfortunately the ones she had didn't work.
