Lovely place to stay, the lodges are separate to the castle. Short walk to the main castle And beside the restaurants. Room was spacious and the bed was big. The TV system /channels and remote not very good though. We did the small spa, which was lovely. 25 per person for an hour. Breakfast was in the castle for us as we stayed in Feb, otherwise I think the lodges are in hermiones restaurant. The breakfast was lovely.

The Kilkea Castle is beautiful. We stayed for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed. The castle grounds are so very pretty and picturesque. John was our official castle and area historian. He shared some amazing castle history and took us on a tour. We've stayed in many 5 star and diamond resorts. Kilkea Castle is one of the most interesting and beautiful places by far. Only con is the club house restaurants and bar seemed severly understaffed. Service was very slow. All else was great!

It's definitely a unique experience staying in the Luxury Castle rooms. The staff were attentive, the food was overall really good, and the Thermal Spa experience was a nice addition to our stay. I would absolutely recommend to stay at Kilkea Castle for at least 2 nights.

What an amazing place to stay! The castle and grounds are incredible. Breakfast was top notch. The attached golf course is reasonably priced and easy to book. The best welcome to Ireland we could have asked for!

We weren’t sure what to expect, but quickly wish we would’ve booked more nights here. We loved the views, the garden area, the castle was great, beds comfortable, breakfast was good, service was excellent. The spa was a must. We will definitely book here again. Well worth the cost

We really enjoyed our stay in the carriage room for our wedding anniversary. The room was spacious and very comfortable. We enjoyed a walk around the grounds and explored the castle. Food was very tasty and we have to mention John in Hermiones Restaurant who went above and beyond his role. Super friendly, very informative and even helped us pick the best table in the restaurant. We also used the thermal suite which was nice. The only downside was that you paid an extra €30pp to use it. I personally think if you are staying in a hotel that you should get access to all their facilities included in your stay. Maybe that's just me though. Would definitely recommend the hotel to friends.

The stay here was really magical. Dinner. The bar and breakfast were all great. The grounds are beautiful. The staff was really nice and helpful The rooms however could have been cleaner tbh. The two sleep sofas were so stained they just needed to be thrown away. Even the carpet needed a good cleaning. Overall I really did love it

Beautiful property with highly attentive staff. Prices were good and rooms were nice. One of our rooms had a clogged drain so the shower flooded the floor. Was not corrected when mentioned to staff. Other room had no working tv and the cabinet that holds the safe, fan and bath robes was stuck closed. Other than those few things everything was perfect. The views are beautiful and walking trail near by was also nice. Highly recommended!

Omgivelsene er helt nydelige, men rommet lukter av fukt. Det er sprekker i dusjhodet så vann spruter overalt i tillegg til at dusjdøren ikke går ordentlig igjen. Det gjør at gulvet blir kjempe vått rundt der doen er. Det er derfor blitt mugg i kanter av badet og lukter vondt. Utover dette så er resten av rommet ganske bra. Hvis de får rettet på dette så er hotellet en opplevelse man bør få med seg.

Our arrival and stay at Kilkea Castle was perfect and every detail was exactly as I had hoped. Clean rooms, exceptional service, and an amazing setting. Superb. Trying to depart was not so great. The staff went above and beyond to assist us, and I only say this as a warning to others. Book your transportation through the hotel as our prebooked car never arrived, and the ride shares would not pick up in the early morning.

This is an incredible property. Truly one of a kind. Food was amazing, grounds stunning and historic. The room was perfect and cozy. We will definitely return if given the opportunity. Loved this place!!!

Our stay at Kilkea Castle was very nice. The carriage room was spacious and nicely appointed. The grounds were lovely, the staff was friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The only area for improvement was with dinner....we ate at Hermione's and the food was so-so. Definitely room to improve with the dinner options.

We got a room off the castle area, next to the gold course. Room size is nice but not great. Bathroom was strange and fan was very loud.

The castle and grounds were lovely. The castle rooms are getting dated. Breakfast in the castle was very sub-standard but the other restaurant on the property served a fantastic dinner.

Staff, grounds, food and drinks were all top tier. The castle is beautiful. Andrew , our bartender, was extremely helpful and attentive. Recommend staying. Room was great as well, but there wasn't any way to control the temperature and we sweat all night. I'd love to have played some golf, which also looked amazingly well maintained, however, we were only in for the evening.

Gorgeous castle. We stayed in a beautiful, spacious carriage room. We had a lovely evening meal in Hermione's restaurant at the clubhouse followed by drinks in the Keep bar. Breakfast the next morning was so nice. Lots to do and see. We couldn't fault it.

An event of a place. Done really nicely. Great food and service - Molly was a star. My only complaint is a stuffy bedroom as no opening windows or no aircon. Was 27C there. Still enjoyed the stay 👍

The grounds are lovely and kept very well. The staff were all very kind. The main downside was the position of our room, 227. It is right on one of the roads that cars frequently pass so it can be very loud in there. There are 3 sets of windows in the master bedroom and the blinds don't do a job of keeping light out, the one facing the golf course can even not block line of sight to the room fully. So as soon as the sun is up the room is flooded with light making it hard to sleep into the morning at this time of year.

Overall it was a nice enough stay. The food and service wasn’t the best experience. Service was quite slow, they seemed to have had some issues with their systems. The hotel is lovely and the location is great but the food and service fell short especially given the expectations you have for a place like Kilkea castle. The fine dining restaurant also wasn’t open which I wasn’t aware of when booking. Only dinner option was the golf clubhouse which had a somewhat limited menu. Would not recommend room service as the food didn’t taste the best. The food fresh from the clubhouse is much better.

Lakisha was absolutely incredible, we didnt understand the lock on our door (silly us) and she was super patient showing us, also all her recommendations were excellent for the last day of our international trip. She deserves recognition for her efforts! Thank you lakisha!!

Outstanding! The service and staff was amazing. From our first experience with Micheal( first day on the job) too Emily ( whom I believe was in training) she made our experience at the club house for dinner a fantastic time. Thank you both.

We came to Kilkea to celebrate our anniversary and could not have been more pleased! From the moment we walked through the castle doors, the staff was gracious and friendly. Everyone remembered our names…so it certainly had a Cheers from Boston vibe! From the front desk, the spa, the dining, the historical grounds, and bartenders at The Keep, what more could we have asked for. We can’t wait to be back!

The grounds is beautiful, and the room is very nice. However, the front desk is disinterested and unhelpful with any information. In both the day I checked in and the day I checked out, the front desk staff offered no help and information, and I had to return multiple times to get the basic important information about the property and my stay. I expect a lot more at the rates paid for one of the most expensive rooms on the property.

Our arrival and stay at Kilkea Castle was perfect and every detail was exactly as I had hoped. Clean rooms, exceptional service, and an amazing setting. Superb. Trying to depart was not so great. The staff went above and beyond to assist us, and I only say this as a warning to others. I can’t recommend Kilkea castle enough. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. Five stars just isn’t enough. The grounds were pristine, the food delicious and we have never experienced customer service like this. If you are ever in the area please put Kilkea Castle on your must-do list.

I have never stayed at a castle before but after this I definitely plan to do it again! So cool and gorgeous driving up the lush green drive to Kilkea Castle, I felt like a princess immediately upon arrival. Check in staff were excellent, helpful and lovely. Slight issue with my first room that Keala resolved for me right away. Walking around the common grounds and gardens was so dreamy with the castle in the background and the plethora of seating areas downstairs/near the bar were inviting and relaxing. Not to mention how delicious and very princess-like the complimentary breakfast was in restaurant 1180 before my departure. Stay here, you won't regret it. The only thing I will say is if you want night life you will likely have to go to the closest town but if you're okay with a quieter evening in a freaking castle then there's nothing to worry about.

Overall the experience was really nice. The property was pretty & nice to walk around. The service was nice. Our room was on the small side but clean (we did have a problem with a broken shower head). The hotel is very secluded so I wouldn’t recommend if you plan to go out and explore any surrounding places.

Kilkea castle grounds are absolutely beautiful and so very serene. It was a perfect last night to relax and decompress for the journey home. The staff was wonderful and very friendly and helpful. The room was extremely comfortable.

We stayed in the carriage house and a friend stayed in castle. Both were great. Breakfast was fantastic and we had a great meal at the golf restaurant. I love running, and there are some great country roads nearby to walk or run.

What an amazing place. We stayed one night on the way to Dublin. The castle was built in 1189 and has obviously been renovated in the last few years. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful and the grounds are beautiful. We had dinner in the evening and breakfast the next morning - both very good. All in all, a wonderful experience.

A castle within an hour of Dublin. The accommodations were very cozy and the grounds beautiful. Staff very attentive. Breakfasts with variety. What a treat to stay here. Book early to enjoy this to enjoy all the amenities

Nice property and nicely updated. The room was a "carriage room" so not in the oldest part of the castle. It was comfortable and the dinner in the golf club restaurant was good. Breakfast in the castle restaurant was excellent.

Beautiful property, very comfortable room and excellent service in the restaurant in the evening, even though we didn't have a reservation. Was disappointed breakfast wasn't available before 8 and we had to leave before that for a flight, though they did have coffee and pastries.

Overall it was a nice enough stay. The food and service wasn’t the best experience. Service was quite slow, they seemed to have had some issues with their systems. The hotel is lovely and the location is great but the food and service fell short especially given the expectations you have for a place like Kilkea castle. The fine dining restaurant also wasn’t open which I wasn’t aware of when booking. Only dinner option was the golf clubhouse which had a somewhat limited menu. Would not recommend room service as the food didn’t taste the best. The food fresh from the clubhouse is much better.

Our stay at Kilkea Castle was very nice. The carriage room was spacious and nicely appointed. The grounds were lovely, the staff was friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The only area for improvement was with dinner....we ate at Hermione's and the food was so-so. Definitely room to improve with the dinner options.

We had an unforgettable stay at Kilkea Castle! From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the stunning grounds and historic charm of the property. We stayed in Carriage Room 230, which was beautiful and had great viewst thanks to windows on all sides. Dinner at Hermione's was a real highlight — not only was the food excellent, but the view of the illuminated castle in the evening was absolutely magical. After dinner, we headed to The Keep bar for drinks, where Andrew, the bartender, made the experience extra special. He was friendly, personable, and made us feel right at home. Later, we took a peaceful walk through the rose garden and along the river to the pond — a perfect end to the evening. Breakfast the next morning was inside the castle and just as delightful. What really stood out was the staff. My husband had accidentally left his wallet at the bar, and everyone — from the front desk to our servers — made sure we got it back. Their kindness and attentiveness made us feel so well cared for. Highly recommend staying here for the beautiful setting, great food, and outstanding service. We’ll definitely be back!

What an amazing stay, even if it was only for 1 night! From the ambiance of the castle, the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff, we enjoyed every minute. The only minor disappointment would be the size of the bed in the carriage house room, which was small for a couple (it seemed like a double or twin, definitely not a queen size). Other that that we had a very enjoyable visit.

Incredibly beautiful castle, grounds and room. Highly advise a castle bedroom if you can! Very clean, comfortable and huge. Biggest drawback was limited dining options during the week-same menu for lunch and dinner that gets boring pretty fast. Breakfast was tasty and lots of options all included. Close to Dublin- we didn’t have a car but 45 minutes by train and then 10 minute taxi made it easy (except book taxi ahead as Athy is pretty small). Worthwhile for the luxury to stay in a castle!
