My wife and I were visiting Amersham for the weekend. We couldn't have been happier with our stay at The Chequers Inn. Cheap and cheerful venue, with a lovely host and in a perfect location to access Amersham. We rode to Amersham and there was safe and secure parking for our Motorbike.

This is a very old Inn, therefore difficult and unfair to compare with a modern type of hotel. I've stayed here a few times, staff are super helpful, they are keen to be of assistance and are cheerful. The rooms are clean, some old but it's an old place. It's pub food and a full breakfast. It's quiet with plenty of parking and an easy level walk into the old town.

The room was a bit small. Bar has a good selection of beers.

Bit disappointed I’d booked a double room but received a twin. The only window was very small and didn’t open very far so it was pretty hot. It was clean and staff were helpful.

The Chequers Inn is a low cost B&B in an expensive area, so I think it's only fair that people know what to expect. We were greeted by a lovely man and, despite arriving early, were allowed to check in without any fuss. There is some parking at the front, although space can be limited. Our room was clean but very small and basic. It was looking quite tired, with dated décor, uneven floors and a bathroom that could do with some TLC, although it was clean and stocked with fresh towels. The plumbing was quite noisy, the kettle had a damaged spout and had seen better days, and one of the secondary glazing panels had been removed and left leaning against the wall. Looking at the website photos afterwards, there are probably nicer rooms than ours available. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. The only disappointment was breakfast. The sign outside advertised it from 7am, but at around 9am we were told there was nobody available to provide it. We ended up walking 10 minutes into Amersham for breakfast, which was a nice opportunity to explore. Would we stay again? Yes. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't for you. If you want an affordable base within a 15-minute walk of the station and close to cafés, bars and restaurants, it's a great option. If all the rooms were brought up to the same standard as those shown on the website, I think they could easily charge more. If we'd stayed longer, we would've made use of the lovely bar and garden too.
