We arrived and lady was really helpful, carried out cases up stairs and showed us to our room. We stayed for one nightm. Room was clean the bed was comfortable and for a one night stay at this price. We will be staying again for sure. The gardens we're lovely and restaurant bar looked inviting.

An enjoyable experience. Staff friendly, very obliging. Plenty of outdoor space for children to run round and play while adults sit and eat, drink and chat. Far enough away from the A132 that noise was not a problem.

2nd time here whilst visiting family. My son got married here 2 years ago and it was fantastic, Sam the wedding planner was brilliant and we said hello as there was an open day rhis weekend. We had an issue with the 1st room alloction due to mobility problems, low ceiling and bath but requested a reallocation to which Mark (the manager) was more than accomodating. There was a band on Friday night which was great, but we felt it ended too late at midnight. Even though we enjoyed we would have liked to go to bed earlier but knew that we wouldnt be able to sleep above the bar with the music. After a long drive of 5.5hrs that day, the late night took its toll on us for the weekend. An 11pm stop would have been preferable. We ate there Friday night and the food was lovely. We also had Sunday dinner at the restaurant in the conservatory which again was lovely and reasonably priced. However, the sound does carry and we and others did struggle with the echoing noise. Mark dealt with complaints adequately but as he said he cant do anything about the noise. Overall a great long weekend and will return.

Really good food portions and has a huge menu, you could stay for a year and still not get through the whole lot! Room cleaned really well daily and shower was good. Plenty to do as there are car meets and entertainment etc. Will stay again if I’m the area.

Room 8 unhabitable until 9:15 because of noise from kitchen extractor facilities, Shower facilities inadequate unless you are four foot high. Shower not attached to wall; no shower curtain either. Very disappointing for a site of potential.

Rettenden Lodge was quite adequate, being clean and comfortable with courteous and helpful staff. However our room did not have wi-fi and we could only access it in the bar. As we were in an outside room at the top of an outside staircase this was inconvenient. The music in the bar was extremely noisy when we arrived but the manager lowered the volume when we asked. However, if there had been more people in the bar at that time I'm not sure he would have done so if the other clientele liked it that way.

We had a wonderful time at the event evening. The staff are amazing, so friendly, professional and very accommodating. The food was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

The property looked tired and dirty. The room was small and bathroom was poor. Tiny sink and controls on the power shower completely wrong so ended ip wirh a freezing cold shower. Asked to be mived but they were fully booked. The only room they could offer was over the kitchen but we was advised not to take it as it was hot and noisy. Would not recommend this property at all. Food was poor - however staff was amazing especially Lou who tried her very best to accommodate our situation.

Have always enjoyed staying at Rettendon Lodge, however on this occasion my expectations were exceeded as I stayed in Family room number 1 and it was superb. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in, the room was light and airy and tastefully decorated and everything was clean and tidy.

We have stayed here many times, our first time in room 2. The mattress has obviously seen two guests too many. Other than that, had a good stay. Breakfast of a good quality & well cooked.

Got to the place in the evening due to catching up with friends, greeted by the staff warmly, felt at ease as soon as we got there, sign in was easy and quick, and one of the staff was brilliant even offered to take our bag to our room. The room was gorgeous, nice and spacious with a TV, tea and coffee, and bottles of water. Bath and shower was great. The beds were comfortable and there was extra pillows and a blanket, which we used.

Room was comfortable, good bed and shower room. Leaving bottled water with the tea making facility was a welcomed bonus. Restaurant/pub meals were good and reasonably priced. All staff are praised for outstanding friendliness & helpfulness, enhancing the enjoyment of the stay.

Great dinner. Disappointed that there was no soy milk at breakfast and staff couldn’t be bothered to go to the nearest shop to get some. Room was basic but comfortable enough and very clean.

Check in was very easy, Sophie was very helpful and polite. I can highly recommend this venue, the staff are great and the food is excellent. The hotel room was clean and very comfortable, they even have bottled water in the room, rarity these days. Highly recommended, I’ll be returning when I’m next in the area.

Basic hotel very inflexible with check in. Has a good bar which closed very early. Comfy bed and the breakfast was good. A little bit out of the way, but convenient for this trip.

Wonderful stay. Just what you would want in a traditional British experience. Good chance to walk around and see nature and enjoy some peace and quiet. Excellent food and service in the Pub/Restaurant for both dinner and breakfast.

Second time here. A really friendly place to stay. Lovely location to wake up in.

I’m absolutely gutted I didn’t find this gem sooner!! Great location nice and quiet. The food was awesome and what a menu. Friendly/helpful staff ! All round great place to stay 👌

Pleasant stay, small but cosy room. Basic needs met with comfort and character. Staff were polite and friendly and were very engaging during breakfast service. Breakfast was enjoyable. It is in a nice, quiet location, didn't have any issues with noise from pub but it was a mid-week stay.

Great dinner. Disappointed that there was no soy milk at breakfast and staff couldn’t be bothered to go to the nearest shop to get some. Room was basic but comfortable enough and very clean.

Check in was very easy, Sophie was very helpful and polite. I can highly recommend this venue, the staff are great and the food is excellent. The hotel room was clean and very comfortable, they even have bottled water in the room, rarity these days. Highly recommended, I’ll be returning when I’m next in the area.

Really good food portions and has a huge menu, you could stay for a year and still not get through the whole lot! Room cleaned really well daily and shower was good. Plenty to do as there are car meets and entertainment etc. Will stay again if I’m the area.

The mattress was VERY uncomfortable, food was mediocre. On arrival the room was like a hot house I felt that the dormer windows should have been opened to let the heat out.

Always like going to Rettendon lodge events. It's friendly, the food is great and lots of choice. Easy to park and in quiet surroundings.

We had a wonderful time at the event evening. The staff are amazing, so friendly, professional and very accommodating. The food was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Ok stay. Nothing special. Our room was at the back of the property opposite the kitchen fan outlet. Needless to say that’s not the best spot. Beds and room were ok for a night. Staff was mostly friendly with a few exceptions where they started talked between themselves in the middle of me ordering…then for me to repeat the order.

The most awful place ever !!! I booked this place as it’s not far from where I live and my best friend and new husband were coming from up North to visit myself and my very sick husband who has cancer among other health issues . This place was the scruffiest most awful place I’ve ever in my 66 years of life . This place is not manned re the hotel side of it so you need to check in at the bar where there was one young girl manning even tho there was a 40th all travellers birthday party and a wedding on the grounds too!!! This poor girl I don’t know how she coped honestly. Food was disgusting served with no cutlery so had to wait and because I went to the bar for drinks with our meal’ by the time that poor girl got to me and served me my meal was cold !! I had 2 mouthfuls and left the whole meal ! I noticed my friend didn’t eat much either all the time trying to b polite so as not to hurt my feelings but to b honest I was so so embarrassed!!! Bed looked clean for them a point for this i suppose but bathroom and furniture in room so outdated !!! I’ve seen caravans and tents furnished better! No reception so no phone in room and at the bottom of the stairs a door which is left open all night after staff leave ! I’m guessing for smokers so the security is diabolical! I myself would never of slept there!! I myself would never of stayed there. I tried to get them another much much better hotel but it was too short notice. Do not book this place not even for one night !!!!

Nice place with a bar and restaurant with a good selection of reasonably-priced food. Room itself very uncomfortable (room 8, described as economy double on their website). Boiling hot, above kitchen meaning noisy from 6.15am, only roof windows so if opened there are no curtains or blinds. Shower dribbled. TV has many channels missing. No WiFi in room except via home extenders. Annoying bland pop covers played from speakers inside and out. No included breakfast if booked through hotels.com
