A lovely 2 night stay in a country village inn with plenty of parking. We loved the location, our room was clean with a comfy bed, the staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was of good quality. Great for exploring the Northumberland coast, particularly Lindisfarne, Berwick Upon Tweed and Bamburgh Castle - all close by.

Really nice place to stop to split a long drive down south. Really good location for exploring more locally and good drinks and food in the pub. Definitely will be back.

It states check in at earliest 4pm but no mention that the building is locked until 4pm so if you arrive early you cannot get any drinks. Accommodation was excellent but the whole area is taken up for dining with no real facility to sit and relax with a drink unless you go outside on benches. Diners are limited to 2 hours and then are required to leave to free the table.

Was a lovely experience staying on an overnight. All staff were just amazing. Had dinner and breakfast the next morning. The bar was well used by locals. Great atmosphere. Our room was absolutely gorgeous.

The room ( Bamburgh ) was very spacious and comfortable. The bed was huge and we got a good night sleep. The room and the hotel was very clean. The staff were helpful and cordial. The food was excellent both for breakfast and dinner. It is in an ideal location for visiting the local sights. It is in a quiet village. Highly recommend

This was our first trip to Northumberland and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable, the decor was calming and suited the room. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We ate twice in the restaurant during our three nights at the Black Bull. The food was fantastic. Good sized portions, well cooked with great flavour. The Game Goujons were very tasty as were the burgers we had in the first night. The next time we ate there we had the stone bass and the pie of the week. All was yummy, and the drinks were great too. Breakfast was included and the choice was lovely. The black bull breakfast was a winner all around. The Black Bull was a great base to explore the local area, with easy access to Holy Island and other historical sites. We would recommend a stay here and will be back.

We had a lovely 2 night stay in a beautiful room (Ford, room 2). The room was immaculately clean and very tastefully designed. The hotel throughout was clean and staff very polite and friendly. There was a lot of choice for breakfast and the food was served fresh and delicious. We ate an evening meal during our stay and were again spoiled for choice. The meal we chose was also delicious and the dessert was amazing too.

The Inn was very tastefully decorated, the room we stayed in was nice the only issue we had with it was the shower was very small. Handing in the key I couldn’t find anyone to hand it to so called out to anyone in the kitchen where I was told “well you will have to wait”! VERY RUDE!! Not a nice end to to a nice stay .

Rooms are well furnished with good quality furniture. Staff were friendly and very pleasant to talk to. Overall the establishment is a 5 star rating with excellent good quality meals both in the morning and at night. Ideal location for getting about the area and would highly recommend this venue.

First visit here and very pleasantly surprised. We arrived about 7pm and immediately you could feel it had a very good ambience. It was busy with most people enjoying an eveing meal. Staff were pleasant and helpful. We hadn't booked a table for our evening meal as we weren't sure of our plans when booking the room. However, on arrival staff enquired if we wished to dine and a table was reserved for us at 8pm. The food here very good and generous. I had duck spring rolls which were fab and my husbands chicken supreme was equally great. Looking around I could see diners really enjoying the food. We stayed in the Bamburgh room which was very spacious, comfy bed and a really lovely en suite bathroom which was beautifully done out complete with rain shower. The room and bathroom were nice and warm. Bathroom towels were lovely, soft and scrumptious. The only downside was there was a sofa located at the bottom of the bed which was quite worn and probably should be replaced but other than that the room was lovely and tastefully decorated. As mentioned, very spacious. Breakfast was help yourself to tea, coffee soft drinks, 4 types of cereal, toast (toast it yourself in the toasting machine which was the best I've ever used!) plain yohurt, grapes and melon. Orders were taken for your cooked selection, full english etc. A really lovely place with great food. Will definitely return as a stop off on our journeys to Scotland as its a short drive from the A1.

Quiet location but only 20 mins to Berwick upon Tweed with Holy Island, Bamburgh and Alnwick within easy reach. Bedroom was huge with a comfy bed. Staff were pleasant. Good choice for breakfast and their evening meals were excellent. Restaurant gets very busy so its advisable to book a table.

All aspects of the Black Bull from hotel itself to food, staff and location were brilliant. The only problem was you cannot check in before 4pm. We arrived at 3.40pm and were not allowed even into the building. We sat in the car park. Not the best welcome. Maybe an overzealous member of staff abiding by the booking in time, but thankfully following that episode, everything else was magnificent.

Set in a quiet village but only a few miles from the A1 so makes a perfect base for exploring Northumberland,. Friendly staff lovely rooms and really nice food , the breakfast especially so good , would recommend to anyone .

The Black Bull is a wonderful place to stay whilst in Northumberland. The rooms are modern, well furnished and clean. The staff are friendly and caring. At breakfast there is a good selection of dishes, all good quality food. The only complaint we had was the length of time it took to be served dinner. Whether they had staffing problems that night I don't know, but from arriving, and the table was pre-booked, it took about an hour for us too get our food. When it came through, it was delicious.

We were early by half an hour, abrutly told by lady on the bar that check in was from 4. I only asked if this was where we checked in. First impression matter. Otherwise a lovely stay. Would return.

Staff were pleasant and helpful. We hadn't booked a table for our evening meal as we weren't sure of our plans when booking the room. However, on arrival staff enquired if we wished to dine and a table was reserved for us at 8pm. The food here very good and generous. I had duck spring rolls which were fab and my husbands chicken supreme was equally great. Looking around I could see diners really enjoying the food. We stayed in the Bamburgh room which was very spacious, comfy bed and a really lovely en suite bathroom which was beautifully done out complete with rain shower. The room and bathroom were nice and warm. Bathroom towels were lovely, soft and scrumptious. The only downside was there was a sofa located at the bottom of the bed which was quite worn and probably should be replaced but other than that the room was lovely and tastefully decorated. As mentioned, very spacious. Breakfast was help yourself to tea, coffee soft drinks, 4 types of cereal, toast (toast it yourself in the toasting machine which was the best I've ever used!) plain yohurt, grapes and melon. Orders were taken for your cooked selection, full english etc. A really lovely place with great food. Will definitely return as a stop off on our journeys to Scotland as its a short drive from the A1.

Set in a quiet village but only a few miles from the A1 so makes a perfect base for exploring Northumberland,. Friendly staff lovely rooms and really nice food , the breakfast especially so good , would recommend to anyone .

A lovely 2 night stay in a country village inn with plenty of parking. We loved the location, our room was clean with a comfy bed, the staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was of good quality. Great for exploring the Northumberland coast, particularly Lindisfarne, Berwick Upon Tweed and Bamburgh Castle - all close by.

We needed a base to explore the area and the Black Bull Inn was ideal. The friendly staff made us feel at home, our room was comfortable and had refreshment facilities. The food was to a high standard and the choice was comprehensive. We would stay there again when revisiting the area. It is close to Lindisfarne,Holy Island and other interesting places such as Seahouses and Berwick upon Tweed.

The Black Bull is a wonderful place to stay whilst in Northumberland. The rooms are modern, well furnished and clean. The staff are friendly and caring. At breakfast there is a good selection of dishes, all good quality food. The only complaint we had was the length of time it took to be served dinner. Whether they had staffing problems that night I don't know, but from arriving, and the table was pre-booked, it took about an hour for us too get our food. When it came through, it was delicious.

Excellent accommodation and friendly staff. The only area to consider was the evening meals menu which seemed to be dominated by "game". Cooked breakfasts are the the best I have ever had!!!!!

This was our first trip to Northumberland and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable, the decor was calming and suited the room. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We ate twice in the restaurant during our three nights at the Black Bull. The food was fantastic. Good sized portions, well cooked with great flavour. The Game Goujons were very tasty as were the burgers we had in the first night. The next time we ate there we had the stone bass and the pie of the week. All was yummy, and the drinks were great too. Breakfast was included and the choice was lovely. The black bull breakfast was a winner all around. The Black Bull was a great base to explore the local area, with easy access to Holy Island and other historical sites. We would recommend a stay here and will be back.

Fantastic base for a trip to Berwick and Lindisfarne. The staff could not have been more helpful and we enjoyed an excellent dinner and breakfast, the locally sourced ingredients being of high quality. The bedroom was clean and the whole pub appeared to have been recently freshened up. We would definitely stay here again if we’re in the area.

A great one night stop over on our return to York from the Island of Skye. After 8 hours travelling the inn was a welcome sight. Staff lovely. Bar well stocked. Food excellent - can recommend the Venison Pie! Breakfast was great too. Plenty to fill up with. Prices were very good too. Only tiny gripe was the room was a little too warm. No air conditioning (which we didn’t expect it to have) but a fan would have been an improvement. We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

ideal place for a break due to great parking, an assortment of items for breakfast, own privacy. comfortable rooms and a lovely warm bathroom. Could nt wish for anything better. We travel around the country frequently and have,nt stayed anywhere as comfortable. Just as long as they keep the present chef!!!!
