The swimming pool was in sad shape. That is a reflection of the hotel. But when you figure the price of the hotel, and what you wanted the hotel to do for you....overall value was very good.

There was food and debris along the hall for both nights we stayed there, the bathroom looked clean but it smelled like the bathtub covered up mold. Very moldy and when we first walked in the room it smelled like it had just been fumigated fix that up there. To pick that up had to reach behind the TV to make it work and adjust and could not get Netflix

There is no daily maid service unless you request it. We don’t mind that as we can request clean towels. We had to run the fan full blast to get rid of the musty smell in our room. We have stayed here many times and have never encountered this issue before.

The room was very clean and felt tended to. The only reason I didn't give it an "excellent" is because there was one used wash cloth hanging on the shower rod that housekeeping must have missed. But really this place is clean and is a decent deal. Comfortable beds.

Decent place, friendly staff. We stayed on a Friday night and found the place surprisingly quiet, even though sold out. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean. Our room had a smoke detector dangling from the ceiling and the bathroom sink had a crack in it. The towels were VERY worn, but we would stay again.

Towels were paper thin. Hallways aren’t vacuumed. Staff is scarce no one is ever at the front deck. Our shower had soap drips in it from previous stay. It wasn’t the worst motel I have stayed in but for the money it should have been more welcoming.

Clean room and bathroom. The beds were comfortable. Walking distance to everything Murphys has to offer was perfect. Knowing it was off season, the pool looked scary. It was difficult to get assistance in the lobby… I had to call several times, each time there was no answer. When they finally arrived the helped the people who arrived after us. Good parking.

The property was in a good location and had the diner right across the parking lot and the people who worked there were friendly enough. My issues were that the wall were paper thin (you get what you pay for), the people up above us were stomping and making sounds all through the night. The beds were all springs. The television didn’t connect to the internet. It was an okay stay nothing to write home about but left for more to be desired. The rooms and beds were clean though so the basics were coved.

The positive - the staff was super friendly and welcoming. The location was so convenient to everything. The room was very clean. The challenges - the wifi - it wasn't a secured network really. I had to keep signing in every hour or so. The TV was kind of useless cause I couldn't add my HBO or YouTube TV apps temporarily and I couldn't screen mirror. The phone in my room was unplugged and didn't work even when I did plug it in. One of the lamp's switches was broken so the lamp didn't work. Overall, not bad but not great.

For a budget motel, we enjoyed our stay. Staff were very friendly. Room was large & clean. Hotel needs a refresh but they do a great job with what they have. Pool was a good size. No sun loungers. Was clean. Location is good. Walking distance to the coffee shop in the morning and all the restaurants, park, creek and bars. We’ve stayed in Murphy’s before but more in the middle of town, and I’d say for what it’s costs to stay in the middle of town, I’d much rather stay at Murphy’s Inn Motel.

I visited Calaveras Big Trees Park that day and needed a place to stay overnight before driving to Yosemite. This was perfect. There was a health food store a 5 minute walk away and a microwave and minifridge in the room, which made dining so easy. I got the best night of sleep I've had in a long time because it was perfectly quiet.

The motel itself is a bit dated but hey, it’s the mountains. What stood out was the exceptional customer service. Specifically, I found Shannon to be a rare gift to the hospitality field. She went well above and beyond to ensure that my stay was the best it could be. I was delayed in arrival and SHE actually called me to see if everything was alright. She then devised a plan to allow me to check in after normal hours. I’ve had less service at the Four Seasons. As long as Shannon is working there, I’ll be staying there. BTW - I never leave reviews - it takes a lot to earn my time. Thank you Shannon.

The room was basic, no-frills but clean. Location was very convenient...walkable to multiple restaurants, shops, and wine tasting rooms. Property seemed to be short staffed with rooms not ready at check in time, and front desk often left unattended.

Got there at 2:30p. Sign said staff gone be back Rang the bell, nothing. Went to town and came back at 3:30. Still no staff to check us in. Found out there were also cleaning rooms so we understood. Girls were helpful and pleasant. Changed entire experience to a positive.

In town for a concert. Venue was 6 minutes away. Excellent restaurant 3 minutes away. Very convenient! Great staff! Very helpful! Not plush, but very clean and comfortable. Loved the mattress!

The rooms were large, very clean and very cute. There is not an elevator, but not lots of stairs. The diner next door was perfect for breakfast. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Front desk ladies were very friendly, the parking lot is big and easy to access, the rooms were simple but clean, beds comfortable, and showers looked brand new. Diner right next door was great. No complaints.

The staff are always great. Very nice and helpful. Went above and beyond this trip. But we love the location, at the head of the main drag with easy walks to Murphy's great `bars restaurants and wine tasting.

This was a very clean hotel. Close to the downtown. Easy to walk to coffee shop and I was able to walk to everything. The staff was very nice and friendly.

Murphys Inn Motel is a good place for 1-2 nights stay on your way to Bear Valley. No breakfast or restaurant on site, but there are places nearby which works. Property is clean, not swanky clean, but decent. Staff is friendly

Loved that we could walk to see the historic buildings and also find plenty of dining options in the immediate vicinity. Although the motel didn’t have many amenities, it was clean and had comfortable beds.

The room was clean and the bed was ultra soft. The staff was never to be seen though. It took 10 mins to wait for front desk to return to check in. Toilet was loose on floor so it rocked while sitting on it. WiFi was non existent and TV was small and just sitting on low cabinet and not up high or on the wall. Sink was outside bathroom so one person could wash their face while other person is taking shower which was convenient.

When you’re touring 3-400 miles on a motorcycle in 90+ degree weather, all you’re looking for in a hotel is a hot shower, cold air conditioner, clean quiet room and a comfortable bed. Murphy’s inn ticks all these boxes and more. Staying here reminded me of my travels through Europe, where the inn keepers go above and beyond to make your stay as personal, and as comfortable as possible. Shannon and Michele, went out of their way to suggest motorcycle back road rides, local restaurants and sightseeing etc. I had originally booked two nights, but the hotel and staff are so great, I extended my stay by four more nights. Big trees state park is a must see, and only about a 10 minute drive from the inn. Also, right next door, there are two grocery stores, a pizza parlor, a taco shop and a great pho’ restaurant. From the inn, downtown historic Murphy’s is only about a five minute walk. I will definitely be staying here again on my way back around:-).
