Margaretville Mountain Inn B&B

A wonderful old property that's a bit in need of refreshing. The breakfast was good and the area was beautiful.

Beautiful remote location. A throw back in time!! And the hot tub was a nice touch! Host was very laid back and kind. Food was yummy!!

The locks on my door didn't work, and I had to be let into my room on three separate occasions. I also was locked in my room one evening when I woke to go across the hall to my private bath. (I'm new to B&B's, and this may be common to have a bath outside one's room, but I would still prefer an in room bath, especially after this experience; I ended up turning the screws on the dead bolt lock with the tag on my key to the room and was able to loosen my self out at 3am). There is an old world charm to this beautiful old Victorian home, and the owner cooks a delicious personalized and plentiful breakfast for you to dine in with other guests. My room was clean and pretty, however the shared refrigerator wasn't clean, the freezer didn't open, there was no list of places to go to in town or near by, other than a rattled off oration upon asking, the seating was old and worn, and the barn where we had to park was filled with broken windows and debris; not particularly welcoming. There was no assistance offered with luggage, but a tip envelope on the dresser. The Inn is hosted by a hard working, kind family, and adorable little white cat, and I while I thank them for their kind demeanor; with a few tweaks my stay could have been a more pleasant experience.

We arrived as a family of four adults for two nights, with two breakfasts included in our reservation. One day before our arrival, we were informed that breakfast would be served at a different location. When we entered the house, it became immediately clear that the beautiful, full breakfast shown in the photos and described in the reviews on Expedia — with homemade pastries and other items — could not possibly be prepared there. The place was old and simply did not have the space or facilities for such a breakfast. The night was terrible: the boiler made loud noises nonstop, and we could hardly sleep. It felt like it could explode at any moment — it was genuinely frightening. In the morning, when we went for breakfast, we were completely shocked. The breakfast was served in a cheap motel, where there were only two small tables and the food consisted of just coffee, bagels, and cream cheese. A girl nearby was sorting laundry from the same motel. It was very unpleasant and humiliating for us. It would have been better if they had told us there would be no breakfast at all than to make us drive there for such a disappointing meal. When we expressed our surprise and said that we expected a very different breakfast, we were told that the “full breakfast” is only served at Margaretville Bed and Breakfast. However, on Expedia, the photos and description of that full breakfast appear under the same property name that we booked!

Nice house, but looked newer in the pictures, was a clean house that felt like I was back in time, In good but OLD original condition, shower was good, plenty hot water, breakfast in dining room was cool, very nice service with home baked pastry in morning. very quiet and can sit on porch, and even have a cigarette or cigar if you wanted to.

Room had a king size bed which took up pretty much the whole room which was quite shabby. The public room was small. For breakfast choice of eggs or French toast. The eggs, small, served with one slice of bread. Nice homemade cake also served. Very comfortable wrap around porch. All in all I would rate this B&B inferior.

Bed super comfy. Curtains and aome furniture need replacing to make it look a little better.

Quiet, clean, friendly. Nice breakfast . The parlor, tv room was a bit retro funky but all the other spaces were elegant period rooms

Carol is an excellent baker and always has a beautiful baked item at breakfast. The bed is super comfortable and the inn is quiet. Not great wifi connection, but then again you are on vacation.

The location high in the mountain allows a cool view (we’re from Central Florida) and wonderful atmosphere and experience of staying in a unique bedroom with furnishings reminiscent of generations long past. Breakfast was different every day and wonderfully prepared and presented. We’ll be back.

Lovely old house with authentic furnishings but modern mattress and conveniences. Helpful manager and very good breakfasts. A mile from downtown. Margaretville is a charming town with a choice of restaurants for dinners. Interesting antique and gift shops. Many artist showings. Gorgeous area with many nature activities available.

Very nicely decorated rooms, spacious and quiet. Near enough to town to pop out for a meal and far enough to feel that you're in the middle of the country.

We had a huge emergency surrounding closing on our home, and the team here turned a very difficult, stressful situation into a seamless experience, where we could rest after a couple of particularly stressful days. They are the loveliest people, we were in the village sweets, and look forward to staying in the end at some point. Highly recommend!

The people at Margaretville B&B were lovely! We had to check in after 9 pm and the person who called me back was caring and understanding and left clear instructions on what to do. Breakfast service was nice as well. The B&B is old and you can see that throughout. However, for the price, breakfast, and proximity to Belleayre Mountain we will be returning again. The street it is on is a steep incline so it may not be ideal in heavy snow.

I'm from here we always lived on the stream. What's my house in a tragic fire. It's been really awesome to be near the stream again and also close to home.. I really enjoyed the property and the room.

We needed a place to stay for a skiing trip and stumbled upon this charming bed & breakfast. The home, built in 1885, has beautifully retained its historic character, which made our stay feel unique and welcoming. Breakfast was a delicious bonus and a great way to start the day. After reading some of the weaker reviews, we like to say our experience was completely different. In our opinion, this bed & breakfast is on par with others in the area and offered exactly what we expected for the price point. Overall, it was a comfortable, enjoyable stay. We definitely would stay here again.
