A Voyageur's Guest House

La femme qui nous a accueillis était aimable et gentille. Le stationnement est réellement fournie mais il est étrange. On doit se stationner quelques voisins plus loin... Le gros problème pour moi a vraiment été la salubrité, beaucoup de moisissure dans la salle de bain (ni moi ni mon ami avons osé prendre une douche), sur un mur de la chambre, il y avait des coulisses et des éclaboussures d'un liquide séché. Un gros manque d'entretien des lieux... Nous avons choisi cette hôtel pour économiser, perso, prochaine fois, on va mieux regarder les commentaires.

Got badly bitten by BEDBUGS! I phoned the manager and there was no answer, and no option to leave a message. I sent a text to complain, and they did not respond. I phoned again later, and the manager said that they would get an exterminator to check and get back to me. They never did, and when I called back, I was told that I needed to speak to the owner and that they would text me her number. They never did. I week later and i still have the marks on me. I was also told that I would have off street parking, which again never materialized. Very hard to recommend this place.

When i arrived was told no hot water, room had one towel, no soap, shampoo, no face cloth or hand towel , if it was not for traveling 800 plus km on a motorcycle and being tired i would have looked for something else , would not recommend staying there, not what is advertised.

The price is right. But there is no prize. No face cloths, only one towel, no where to hang up towels in bathroom, no hangers in room for coats. No coffee available in rooms or anywhere. Parking is free but again a huge joke. Three guest park behind each other in a single driveway. We had to wait almost a hour for the car behind us to be removed so we could get out of the driveway. My advice is to pay extra for more comforts. Don’t go to this place.

I did not realize the ‘property’ was made up of atleast 2 houses (with units in each) and that No Breakfast was included. TV volume did not work. Staff was helpful. Only 1 towel and no bathroom mirror. Did enjoy walkout ‘balcony’ smoking area

Full of smoke in room. No screen and lock on bedroom window. Door lock to bedroom looked it was broken in a few times holes on frame. Bathroom discusting. No paper towels to try hands in bathroom. Bathroom toilet seat falling off. Floor and shower soo dirty. Was told there was parking and I had to find space on the road. I will stop here.

The room was dirty, it was not even dusted. No place to hang your cloths. curtains were so dirty, I did not feel touching them. They had said there is parking, but we had to park back to back with others and once we had to wait for a long time to be able to take the car out. Also it was said that there is air conditioning, while there was none. I will never go to this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. Not even sure if this legally can be a hotel!

Parking difficult because the driveway only holds 2 cars and I had to ask them to remove the large amount of snow around my car to get out. Shower took about 20 minutes to get hot water - was needing to get showered so I started a cold shower. Very uncomfortable.

Overall pretty sketchy but definitely fit the budget. To enter the property you must call a phone number jotted down in permanent marker and taped to the window. In which case a guy picked up and checked us in about 10 mins later. Upon entry you get hit with a strange musk that has marinated throughout the entire house. The odor roughly resembled what it would be like to be inside a hamster cage. The smell was most potent in the bathroom, which is a great way to test how long you can hold your breath for. While the shower was recently redone, whoever tackled that landlord special used an ungodly amount of silicon/caulking instead of cutting the tile to size, which was starting to grow black mold. Parking was a gamble as there's one narrow driveway that could fit 2 cars. If you get stuck in the first driveway spot you're either SOL or would have to go knocking on the 8 other doors to find out who parked behind you. I ended up parking on the road and leaving before 8:00am to avoid getting a ticket. My professional recommendation is to not, and find somewhere else lol. It's a solid stay if you don't have any general standards or enjoy a challenge.

Needs more cleanliness for bedding & hot water availability for shower and more ventilation.

Courage, fuyez !!! Ce logement est sordide voire insalubre. Vetuste, sale, avec de la moisissure, des paliers encombrés de parquet neuf, de matelas ,lits, aspirateur... Lit de la chambre cassé. Je m'apprête, des mon retour, à écrire à Hotels.com. C'est une honte

The room had bed bug!

The outside of the house was untidy and dirty. The house where our room was was not the one on the photos is was down the road. The man who let us in was very casually dressed. He did not let us see the room until we had paid then led us to the other house and let us in. The room was upstairs which were not carpeted. The room was dirty, the carpet was badly marked and the bed linen had marks on it. The fridge was full of rotting food. The bed did not have a headboard and the walls were marked where things had been stuck on it. The shower room was pokey and had a door that led out onto the landing, this was locked though. The whole place needed redecorating and looked very run down.After showing us the room the man disappeared and we saw him strolling down the road. Took photos of the room. Then reloaded our car and left straight away. Later in the evening I received a phone call from a lady who demanded to know where we were. Reported the reasons why we left. She said she would refund only one night. I said that was not good enough and she said she would ask the manager about it. We have not heard a thing since. Very disappointed that the place was not anything like the photos on your website. Consider that you should refund us the full amount as I don’t think we will get any joy from this person. Very dissatisfied that you have not checked this property properly as I feel it was sold under false pretences. Would appreciate your views and response as soon as possible.

Checked into the room was slow, had to call someone from outside and waited for the guy to return from the store Got the key to room and went for supper Returned to finally relax for the evening at approx 930 and found BED BUGS crawling all over the bedsheets Immediately called staff who attended the room immediately, advised no other rooms available and we found ourselves out on the street in a strange town at 10PM with no place to go After a half hour on the phone with Expedia, and escalation to a supervisor, they finally made arrangements to credit us to get a hotel Thank you to Expedia for the resolution. As far as this dive of a room rental, needless to say, stay far away

Not clean smells awful

J'ai trouvé une coquerelle dans la salle de bain durant la nuit. Je l'ai tué et il n'y en a pas eu d'autres. Je trouve vraiment désolant que la débarbouillette ne soit pas fourni avec la serviette et que lorsque j'en ai fait la demande on me dise que ce n'est pas fourni.

Nous avons passé une nuit très décevante dans cette établissement. À notre arrivée, le monsieur de l’accueil nous montre notre chambre et découvre que la lumière ne marche plus, il nous dit simplement « d’allumer la télé, ça devrait suffire ». Le confort et la propreté laissent aussi à désirer puisque les lattes du lit étaient cassées, nous n’avions qu’une seule serviette pour deux et nous avons trouvé un mille patte sur la moquette. Enfin, nous avons été chaleureusement réveillés par des altercations entre des clients et l’employé puis entre l’employé et la propriétaire juste devant notre chambre !

No ac and water

This is the first time sharing a bathroom and it wasn’t very nice. The room was so hot. The first time was able to cover up the register the second time I couldn’t find the register but looked under the bed and it was just disgusting.

Thin walls. Very loud talking and tv coming from other rooms after midnight and early morning. Good location, though.

The condition of the property I saw online before booking was totally substandard compared to what i paid for, eventually it looked very expensive for such property, The room was not convenient, I complained about the heater not been hot, because the room was cold, I had to sleep with my sweeter and winter jacket on. If I had not made payment online, I would have walked away. The staff were awesome, I had no issues with the staff, just the property which was substandard.

This was exactly what I expected it to be, a room for a night to sleep. The walls were thin, and it was clean enough.

The room was like a prison cell.There was no fan to cool things a double unconfortable bed. Th ere was no room to move literaly. A light thst we couldnt cut out.very disappointing

The upstairs residents were making so much noise that I couldn't rest at all.

No complimentary water or toiletries provided. Overpriced for the facility. Was hot and no air conditioning. Fan was requested late night. Broken wash basin.

We had this booked a week in advanced, and had driven up to Ottawa from Toronto on the day of our reservation. They called us two hours before our check-in time saying they had cancelled our reservation, and had no way to renew it, or offer us a room. They said they would call us back which they never did. We ended up having to book another hotel last minute. We’re disappointed by the experience, they seem to be unreliable with holding reservations.

I accidentally forgot the code to open the front door when going out to purchase food. Upon coming back, there was no one to open the door. I have tried reaching someone by phone 17 TIMES on 5 different phone numbers and additionally rang the door bell at least as often. NO ANSWER. I was obligated to find another place to sleep for the night. NOT RECOMMENDED.

I booked this place and it was canceled without my knowledge. My sister got to Ottawa from Toronto and was stranded. Have never had this kind of experience before. Every hotel around was booked. Left an 18 year old stranded. I really can’t fantom this kind of experience.

The staff were nice however useless. they are there just to hand you the keys. The place was not as described. An old house splitted in rooms. Felt like I was in an illegal habitation. Bathroom seat broken, aeration exits blasting cold air which turned the room to a fridge in the night, bath sink doesn't drain well.old furniture, dim light, can't open the windows, room has the back door house exit witch felt unsafe, staff not available all the time. You are given a code to enter the house. Noise from upstairs tenants, kids in the house which is not a place for a 2 years old kid, neighborhood very low scale, fridge stinks sour milk, sheets look dirty but maybe just old. I was not comfortable sleeping on the bed or using the sheets to cover myself...bottom line, the worst experience ever. Definitely false advertising!!

Private bathroom that I was charged extra for was unusable as the toilet was broken. Sheets had not been changed, full of hair and stains. Television was broken. Owner asked me to pay in full in person as Expedia could not charge me? Did not receive a receipt for payment. Felt extremely unsafe so my partner and I left.

The room with 2 beds & shower was clean, but needed some tlc. Good shower, but doors not attached properly & broken tiles on the floor. Nice owner and safe area in a great position. Could be a little gem 🌿

I specify that I didn't stay in this place because I checked out 10 minutes after checking in. When I first arrived the area and the people around the house gave me a weird vibe but I still went inside. The guy that checked me in wasn't rude, however he didn't seem very professional. He and another lady were discussing about a person owing them money as if I wasn't there. The guy then told me that they thought I wasn't coming (it was 2 in the afternoon) so they didn't have my room ready and gave me a room on ground floor, in front of the reception that a few moments before was occupied by the cleaning lady. It was small and dirty, they didn't even make the effort of making the bed to look like no one was just there. The smell was terrible and the window - which was broken - was directly on a very unsafe street. The guesthouse in general looked dirty and felt really sketchy and shady. I asked to check out and to get a refund but they refused. I called the owner; she was kind but again declined to refund me. I then asked expedia for a refund and they agreed and called the place for me because in the meantime I had to book something new. I don't understand how a place like rhis can be on a major hotel provider!!

I chose Voyageur's because of the location and cheap price. I needed to be able to walk to a venue in the Guelph region of Ottowa. Voyageur met my needs. My room was clean. I had a private bath. I could walk to my venue within 20 minutes and it was cheap (less than $100 USD). There was a small refrigerator. It would have been nice if either in the room or in the narrow hallway that there be some tea or coffee. But there was a cafe a 5 minute walking distance, so no biggie. The staff was friendly. I really don't have any complaints. I got exactly what I paid for. I was traveling solo so the lack of amenities wasn't a big deal. For American travelers make sure your credit card goes through. Verify. Or come with debit card as backup.

Supposed to spend 2nights but spent 1night cauz couldn’t stay anymore over-there. Didn’t like it. Absolutely don’t recommend. The area or the neighborhood is cool though and it’s in the middle of centretown.

Staff Sadia and Hasan was very friendly. They try to give us best service. We will be back to same place again soon. Property is downtown but very peaceful place.

It looked basic, but clean, but the pictures were deceptive. It was like a prison cell. There was less than a foot between the end of the bed and the wall. Walls are paper-thin and I could clearly hear upstairs residents and upstairs plumbing. There was 1 towel provided-no hand towel and no bath mat/towel. No hair dryer. No breakfast although several websites, as well as their ad on the front of the house, say that they provide. The hall was dimly lit and the floor uneven due to structural issues, which could be a fall risk. I guess one gets what one pays for, but I would never stay here again, nor would I recommend this to anyone I care about.

Buen hotel, aunque el cuarto es un poco chico. Como bajada de título, dice "bed and breakfast", pero no hay desayuno.
