I know Matlock Bath well and have stayed locally a couple of times. I’d seen High Tor but never considered it. I know regret this as it was really rather good. The room was well-appointed with all mod cons including a fab shower in the en-suite. We dined out but probably should have eaten in as the breakfast was absolutely delicious. Access was easy and the parking more than adequate.

Eaay to find. Good safe parking area. Friendly efficient staff. Room small but clean. Room well decorated. Good shower Toilet ran after flushing. Door to bathroom dudnot open fully and i stubbed my toe in the night. Great value

The staff were very friendly and happy to help. The location of the hotel was fantastic for all local amenities and attractions. Parking was very easy to access.

Lovely welcome upon arrival with a rose and a chocolate for Valentines Day. The bedding and bath sheets were spotless as was the rest of the room and the en-suite. I slept like a log! We didn't have breakfast as we knew we'd be having a late night but we did check out the bar area and that looked clean and comfy. We will definitely be returning, this time for longer.

Parking area was fine except for a few who parked outside the marked areas and made exiting difficult. Room was comfortable, one chair had wobbly legs and didn't feel safe otherwise fine. We did not have breakfast so can't comment on it. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Plenty of parking spaces, could see our car from our room. Room very nice clean and spacious with an amazing view! Very central to both Matlock and Matlock bath. Very pleasant guy on reception. Would definitely return.

Water in room was brown. Was itchy after having washed. No soap/hand wash etc, all dispensers weee empty. Remote control for the TV was missing. Arrived to room window being wide open and the room freezing. Only plug in heaters to warm room up which took ages. Bed felt overly worn out and very sagged. No one around at check out.

Clean and immaculately presented room. Shame the blinds in the bedroom and the heating didn’t work, although an electric heater was provided which was very efficient. Breakfast was delicious although needs to be booked in advance (not made clear to me). No dinner was served apart from snacks at the bar, but there are many good places to eat out in Matlock. The one man on reception was very helpful and friendly, although the hotel did feel like a bit of a ghost ship. Good location only 10 to 15 minutes from Matlock or Matlock Bath.

Oct 25 - We stayed for the illuminations/fireworks in Matlock Bath. The hotel is an easy 5-10 walk into Matlock Bath. So location is great We stayed in room 14 a superior room. It's in the eves of the hotel with quite low beams. The bed was round which was a suprise but comfy. There was a good TV and coffee/ tea making facilities. The bathroom was very open, the shower is over the biggest bath ever however it has no shower curtain or shower door, so the floor gets soaked. The toilet is also not in a private room which was odd. There are walls but it is not enclosed. We all need some privacy!! Apart from a few cobwebs the room was clean and big. It was a shame that breakfast wasn't included, so we ate elsewhere. On the whole a nice hotel

Location was great between Matlock and Matlock Bath with walks just across the road. Unfortunately room was tiny and in the roof, windows were green and it was so noisy with traffic but was cheap

We stayed in the room with two double beds. It’s at the top of the hotel so the view was good. Bathroom is surprisingly spacious and fancy! We didn’t eat here so can’t comment on that but plenty of pubs in walking distance.

The High Tor is a bizarre hotel. It's shabby, the decor is baffling, and it seems to be staffed when they feel like it. Despite advertised breakfast hours of 8am-10am, the restaurant was locked and reception deserted: clearly nobody could be bothered to get up. The bedroom itself was small but passable. Most depressing was a card on the first floor landing thanking staff for giving them such a lovely honeymoon! Anyone bringing their partner here for their wedding night should expect to have divorce papers filed the next day. Ultimately, there's a reason this hotel is among the cheapest in the area. It was a memorable experience, but not for the right reasons.

Whenever you need staff you have to go looking for them ,pots left ontable from other guests ,continental not refreshed for people have breakfast later no one to help or ask had to ring a phone number not good

The room was really well decorated and modern with fresh towels and chocolates on our pillows when we arrived. We did have a few issues with our stay which we emailed to the hotel after we left and got an immediate reply - the staff were incredibly helpful and apologetic and offered us a full refund straight away for the trouble.

Location was great between Matlock and Matlock Bath with walks just across the road. Unfortunately room was tiny and in the roof, windows were green and it was so noisy with traffic but was cheap

Nice clean hotel with a nice ambiance. We only stayed one night as easy walk to town to see the boat illuminations which was perfect. We had a room at the top floor. Compact but practical for the price and one night.

Plenty of parking spaces, could see our car from our room. Room very nice clean and spacious with an amazing view! Very central to both Matlock and Matlock bath. Very pleasant guy on reception. Would definitely return.

Quick check in . Plenty car spaces . Nice room very clean . Chocolate On pillows a nice touch. Had a good night sleep lovely comfy bed . Great location 10 minutes walk to Matlock town . Would stay again.

I know Matlock Bath well and have stayed locally a couple of times. I’d seen High Tor but never considered it. I know regret this as it was really rather good. The room was well-appointed with all mod cons including a fab shower in the en-suite. We dined out but probably should have eaten in as the breakfast was absolutely delicious. Access was easy and the parking more than adequate.

The High Tor is a bizarre hotel. It's shabby, the decor is baffling, and it seems to be staffed when they feel like it. Despite advertised breakfast hours of 8am-10am, the restaurant was locked and reception deserted: clearly nobody could be bothered to get up. The bedroom itself was small but passable. Most depressing was a card on the first floor landing thanking staff for giving them such a lovely honeymoon! Anyone bringing their partner here for their wedding night should expect to have divorce papers filed the next day. Ultimately, there's a reason this hotel is among the cheapest in the area. It was a memorable experience, but not for the right reasons.

Lovely welcome upon arrival with a rose and a chocolate for Valentines Day. The bedding and bath sheets were spotless as was the rest of the room and the en-suite. I slept like a log! We didn't have breakfast as we knew we'd be having a late night but we did check out the bar area and that looked clean and comfy. We will definitely be returning, this time for longer.

It is a lovely hotel, easy to get to and has own parking which is exceptional for Matlock. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, nothing is a problem. Good clean rooms and the breakfasts are first class. Would recommend.

Whenever you need staff you have to go looking for them ,pots left ontable from other guests ,continental not refreshed for people have breakfast later no one to help or ask had to ring a phone number not good

Clean and immaculately presented room. Shame the blinds in the bedroom and the heating didn’t work, although an electric heater was provided which was very efficient. Breakfast was delicious although needs to be booked in advance (not made clear to me). No dinner was served apart from snacks at the bar, but there are many good places to eat out in Matlock. The one man on reception was very helpful and friendly, although the hotel did feel like a bit of a ghost ship. Good location only 10 to 15 minutes from Matlock or Matlock Bath.

Oct 25 - We stayed for the illuminations/fireworks in Matlock Bath. The hotel is an easy 5-10 walk into Matlock Bath. So location is great We stayed in room 14 a superior room. It's in the eves of the hotel with quite low beams. The bed was round which was a suprise but comfy. There was a good TV and coffee/ tea making facilities. The bathroom was very open, the shower is over the biggest bath ever however it has no shower curtain or shower door, so the floor gets soaked. The toilet is also not in a private room which was odd. There are walls but it is not enclosed. We all need some privacy!! Apart from a few cobwebs the room was clean and big. It was a shame that breakfast wasn't included, so we ate elsewhere. On the whole a nice hotel

A well located hotel, on the main road in-between Matlock Bath and Matlock town. Our room was clean and the bed was firm but comfortable and the staff were very friendly. The hotel itself could use some tlc, especially in the outside areas. I would also consider advertising the Indian restaurant more by perhaps having a menu on display / in rooms etc. I think with some investment and updating, the hotel building could be more appealing

Over het algemeen was het goed ,klein probleem met plug vh bad en in begin met de stroom omdat deze automatisch weer uitschakeld uit veiligheids oogpunt .verder wel erg vriendelijk en goed ontbijt over all toch wel een 8,5 op 10.

Nice breakfast with a choice. You have to order by 10pm so make sure you do. Parking was good but go in the second entrance not the first, if coming from Matlock. Room was good. Bed was very very low but quite comfortable and very clean.

Got there early and walked past a young man on his phone. Rang the bell a couple of times, no one came. Found a washroom through the darkened restaurant, still no one showed up. Decided to go for a hike and check in later, passed the guy on his phone and asked him if he worked there, he said yes. Should have then asked him why he ignored us, but instead just made sure we could leave our car in the lot. Came back after our hike and checked in to a small warm room on the third floor. Room was clean but the windows were disgustingly dirty, so dirty you couldn’t see through them. Not worth the price.

Parking got really busy after 7pm and struggled to find a spot. Stayed in a comfort room but the mattress felt like I was laying on a tarmac road. Air conditioning unit in the room didn’t work well. Shower had mould around the edges not kept well. Carpets had a lot of stains in room 3. Strong smell of curry as there is a curry house downstairs. Overall hygiene at the bar was not great - empty glasses on the bar.
