Good location, clean and nice touches in the rooms (french press coffee pot and freshly ground coffee, Harney teas, Saratoga Spring water, and other nice amenities). The fire pits are a nice plus!

This place was quaint and cozy. We enjoyed using the fire pit while we sipped on wine purchased from a nearby winery that day. The restaurant was amazing- great HH pricing on apps. Delicious gourmet dinner!! Great staff. Don’t miss the experience!

Clearly, it’s a work in progress. The room was well stocked with amenities. The bed was just OK. Shower and bathroom good. The floor was not particularly clean, with sand and some small pebbles to step on. The outside of the property just looks like it needs an update. Worked out fine for me, as I am not especially particular.

Good sized room with well considered design touches. Fire pit with s’mores for purchase in room were a hit for my kids. Good coffee, tea and tasty complimentary granola. Convenient to skiing and good dining options, including onsite.

An attractive roadside motel with upscale touches! Firepits, free homemade yogurt and granola, soft rug, comfortable beds and nice linens. If you are looking for a (relative for the area) affordable and pleasant place to stay, the Alander is a great choice. Really nice vibe from the guests, too. People drink wine and sit around the fire pits quietly talking.

At first glance, it appears to be just another old school, roadside motel. But how pleasantly surprised we were when we actually pulled in. The outside spaces were clean, updated and inviting and left us disappointed that it was too cold to take advantage of the firepit/seating areas. The rooms were equally well updated inside. Everything was clean and comfortable with a vibe that punched well above its price point. Check in and registration were all done electronically and was easy to do, although it was a bit disconcerting that there is no definite check OUT process. All in all, I could not recommend staying here highly enough.

Cute boutique hotel. We enjoyed our stay. Excellent communication with the managers. Easy self check-in. Room wasn’t as clean as we’d like (a couple hairs in the shower) but overall everything else was great.

My wife and I randomly picked The Alander because we needed a last minute escape after sadly losing our 16 year old dog. I cannot say enough about not just the courtesy, kindness, and efficiency of literally all staff we interacted with, but also how terrifically designed and clean the facilities are. The restaurant and bar attached are top notch as well, and hav eclearly become a destination spot for the local area. Reid, one of the owners, is a great conversationalist, and incredibly attentive to guest's needs. We encountered numerous guests who were also thoroughly impressed with the grounds and facilities and restaurant/bar. We will absolutely be returning. 5 stars.

One bed had previous guest’s makeup on the bed sheets. Bathroom door was very hard to open and close. Black paint scraping off in the bathroom. Mattress wasn’t comfortable, was sinking. Overall, a decent stay with a lot of potential! The restaurant was the highlight. Very delicious food for both dinner and brunch.

Room was used with a cat or pet we had hair all over the sheets top sheet after ski we passed out so it was weird. Staff at rest. was great they did every wish we had cause we had to rush to the catamt to ski.. they helped us greatly. We would like to stay left a real Large Pillow there acc. so if you save it we will come to get it we hope ? Sam & Dom 860-218-7797

The room had cob webs with bugs and spiders in it. There other things that were a nice touch like the complimentary yogurt and homemade granola. The bathroom fixtures were worn and chipping. I would not categorize it as a boutique lodge. It’s more of a refurbished motel.

We very much enjoyed our stay! The North Star restaurant is truly a STAR. There is not a thing on the menu we would not order! Service perfect. Our only complaint is the mattress was much too soft. We would certainly return though if only for the North Star. Met one of the owners who was delightful! Hats off for the renovation that has been undertaken.

I found the check in process to be difficult. (Although I’m old) There weren’t numbers on the rooms so that you would know which one was yours. I felt that the air freshener used was overpowering. I also felt that the room should have a usable table and chair. A lot of road noise in the rooms facing the highway.

We found the Alander to be way more than we expected. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was incredible. The restaurant on the premises was amazing. We had a great meal and the service was both friendly and efficient. We will probably be back when we are in the area. We highly recommend this property!

This was a fantastic choice to stay at for our weekend getaway, and I highly recommend it! The hotel was lovely, the staff was helpful, friendly, and wonderful at their job! The only thing I would tell people visiting here is to be sure not to take a room facing the main road if you are a light sleeper. The traffic noise kept us up. I know that the hotel website says that they are updating the AC and heating system, but this hadn't been done in our room yet, and the small AC unit in the window was placed in just the wrong way so that it let in the humidity, and didn't quite cool the room. It also rained the entire time we were visiting, so we didn't have a chance to sit by the campfire area, but it looked amazing!

I was in the area for a wedding so only stayed for a brief overnight. Great communication by the owners. Room was large, charming, and clean. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area. One thing is to download directions to the hotel and how to get into your room prior to your arrival as cell service in the area is spotty. Once there, it is not a problem as they have excellent WiFi

I believe they are charging way too much for the stay. The mattress is extremely uncomfortable and sags to the center as soon as you lay down. . Found the electric locks confusing. The bathroom can definitely use some help. The checking process is not easy. The water collects in the tub and shower curtain is dirty. Lot to write. I suggest finding other place to stay.

They have a long way to go before being able to charge $275 a night. Only 2 minutes of hot water in shower before it turned ice cold. Lumpy bed. Extension cords all over room. Finishing touches are lacking…. Restaurant not upscale as described. Not a place to go for special dining occasion! I hope they use the comments constructively, as the concept seems fun… However we did not have fun.

These guys are miracle workers. Love what they did to the place. Renovations are simple and cozy. The only thing I would add. The restaurant needs couple of more kids options other than that the food and drinks are amazing. Great job. And Anne at the front desk is the sweetest

My wife and I randomly picked The Alander because we needed a last minute escape after sadly losing our 16 year old dog. I cannot say enough about not just the courtesy, kindness, and efficiency of literally all staff we interacted with, but also how terrifically designed and clean the facilities are. The restaurant and bar attached are top notch as well, and hav eclearly become a destination spot for the local area. Reid, one of the owners, is a great conversationalist, and incredibly attentive to guest's needs. We encountered numerous guests who were also thoroughly impressed with the grounds and facilities and restaurant/bar. We will absolutely be returning. 5 stars.

The staff and owner were so accommodating and friendly The food was incredible!! Who knew I’d find an amazing dinner at the inn I booked to sleep? I extended my stay cuz it was so great !! 💕LOVED IT!!

I found the check in process to be difficult. (Although I’m old) There weren’t numbers on the rooms so that you would know which one was yours. I felt that the air freshener used was overpowering. I also felt that the room should have a usable table and chair. A lot of road noise in the rooms facing the highway.

This location is perfect! Between the mountains with lots of hikes. Close to cute small towns. Great price and such a cute hotel. I loved it. I will definitely be coming back.

This was a fantastic choice to stay at for our weekend getaway, and I highly recommend it! The hotel was lovely, the staff was helpful, friendly, and wonderful at their job! The only thing I would tell people visiting here is to be sure not to take a room facing the main road if you are a light sleeper. The traffic noise kept us up. I know that the hotel website says that they are updating the AC and heating system, but this hadn't been done in our room yet, and the small AC unit in the window was placed in just the wrong way so that it let in the humidity, and didn't quite cool the room. It also rained the entire time we were visiting, so we didn't have a chance to sit by the campfire area, but it looked amazing!

I was in the area for a wedding so only stayed for a brief overnight. Great communication by the owners. Room was large, charming, and clean. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area. One thing is to download directions to the hotel and how to get into your room prior to your arrival as cell service in the area is spotty. Once there, it is not a problem as they have excellent WiFi

Good sized room with well considered design touches. Fire pit with s’mores for purchase in room were a hit for my kids. Good coffee, tea and tasty complimentary granola. Convenient to skiing and good dining options, including onsite.

The owners did a great job giving the hotel a modern flair. Its location was convenient for us: near the cute town of Millerton, close by the Hillrock Distillery where we had a tour and tasting, and a 30 minute drive to Hudson. We also had dinner at the hotel’s on-site restaurant, North Star, which was a lifesaver after a full day of traveling. There’s not much in Copake but we did have breakfast at Dad’s Diner nearby where all the locals go to.

Highly recommend! Our change of travel plans to include a hike on Bear Mt led to a late reservation and a warm welcome from the owners; both very personable and accommodating. Dinner was icing on the cake. Kudos to the chef for presentation, quality and taste that exceeded expectations - a true gem of a find. If in the area again, we would return without hesitation.

This place was quaint and cozy. We enjoyed using the fire pit while we sipped on wine purchased from a nearby winery that day. The restaurant was amazing- great HH pricing on apps. Delicious gourmet dinner!! Great staff. Don’t miss the experience!

One bed had previous guest’s makeup on the bed sheets. Bathroom door was very hard to open and close. Black paint scraping off in the bathroom. Mattress wasn’t comfortable, was sinking. Overall, a decent stay with a lot of potential! The restaurant was the highlight. Very delicious food for both dinner and brunch.

Amazing cozy spot for a couples weekend getaway. The owner was so nice and welcomed us. The staff was stellar and informative and the North Star restaurant on premises has delicious dishes!

They have a long way to go before being able to charge $275 a night. Only 2 minutes of hot water in shower before it turned ice cold. Lumpy bed. Extension cords all over room. Finishing touches are lacking…. Restaurant not upscale as described. Not a place to go for special dining occasion! I hope they use the comments constructively, as the concept seems fun… However we did not have fun.

Bad drainage for the toilet. Slow staff response. No maid service. Replacement room was filthy and used. Sheets, bathtub, floors etc. Very disappointing.

I had a very short stay at the Alander, arriving at 10pm and checking out at 7:45. Their contactless, online check in and key code made my arrival quick, quiet and easy. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The only thing I would have like was some body lotion in the room, as I usually opt to travel without my own, but that a very minor, personal detail.
