Love when hotels have a clothes line in the tub for wet suits. Even though the weather was rainy we still enjoyed the hot tub and pool and once it cleared up the Tiki Bar.

The hotel is well-maintained, but the fitness room does not have any free weights or weight machines. Only has an old stationary bike and treadmill. Nice complimentary continental breakfast with very good waffles along with muffins and bagels.

Food was good, didn’t have to go anywhere else, pool and hot tub was very nice, entertainment was great, outside tiki bar was great. Clean service was great!! Good location for shopping, walkable!! I would definitely go back! Thanks!!

Initially, we were super excited to enjoy the amenities of this hotel but truthfully, this should be a motel. Upon checking in going to our room, I noticed it smelled a little weird in the hallway and they had Dehumidifiers in the hallways /no AC. Upon opening our door, the stench was so bad of urine and mold and mildew. It burned my nose. Walked back up to the front of the lobby explained the situation with the room. I’ve never smelled anything so bad in my life. It was an insane hassle to switch the room because we booked through a third-party they kept telling me they couldn’t do anything about it , I offered to buy a new room another day nothing etc. They insisted they were not able to do anything until I said I wasn’t Going to leave until they did. They switched us to another room, which to be honest, at least didn’t smell like urine, but it smelled like old mold, and it was musty and damp . The room was dirty and toiletries were used . Everything was pretty rundown, old, There are no elevators to get to the second floor, the hotel doors do not lock. They had a small coffee maker in the bathroom! The room was decent size and had ample places to put a coffee maker. Beach is filled with goose poop. The people that on this are trying to run a slum motel and charge hotel prices. The people that owned This place cared about it. It could be a nice space, but I would never stay here again.

We had large dust webs in areas of the room and it looked like the A/C unit was due for maintenance and cleaning. The staff was great, very attentive and there for our needs. The beds were very comfortable, slept the best I have in a long time. There is a train that may come through town as the tracks literally run right down the middle of the street but they are considerate and you don’t hear the horn unless they have to (Idiot on the tracks lol).

The only nice thing about this property is the location. It is located walking distance from downtown. The beach is nice and it has a tiki bar. However, the cleanliness of the room had something to be desired. The room we stayed in had a pull out couch that smelled like urine. They didn’t seem very concerned about it. Also, be aware that there is no elevator. So, if you have a room on the second floor, be prepared to have to haul all your things upstairs.

The hotel smells when you first walk in! It’s the first thing you notice. We were informed the restaurant would be closed due to staffing issues. We were not able to get a main floor room and had to take the stairs. When we got to our room you could tell they were trying to cover up the smell but after a few minutes it wears off! The whole hotel needs a good clean up and new carpet throughout. They have a beautiful setting but I don’t think I would go back.

Made reservation on hotel.com got an Itineraries number no confirmation number called customer service 888 964 4613 ex465 said card denied set up reservation again two more cards denied said I needed debit card went thru got first floor room as asked and confirmation number ! 4pm check in arrived 3:15 room not ready went to beach bikini bar frozen gordon food breaded chicken patty and 1/4lb frozen burger $80 ! Tried to check in 5pm room not ready talking with CAGED BOBCAT Judy mean found out had second floor room had confirmation for first floor medical reasons Bobcat said she couldn’t accommodate first floor room asked for refund would NOT give refund payed dishwasher $25 to carry my luggage to room ! Pool was dirty sand in corners along sides and steps jacuzzi broke dry sauna broke broke since September of 24 . Room dated windows didn’t open and cleaning service only happened every 4th day we stayed 8 days ! Prosperity had hugh potential but run down beach was loaded with sea weed and fish fly larvae garbage cans full fish flys all over entrance ways racked beach one time on Friday Saturday morning beach loaded wit sea weed and larvae and kids pkaying wit 30lb dead carp they found on beach place has huge potential but owner won’t spend money place run down no hospitality !!! Came home to find out all three attempts to book room went thru now fighting with hotels.com and Alfi to get reimbursed as of now 4 days of fighting they are charging me $4500 for 8 day stay 💩

The city of East Tawas is a gem on the east coast of Michigan's Lower Peninsula - a quaint, lakeside community with a bustling downtown area. The Tawas Bay Beach Resort is located almost squarely in the center of town, right on the lake. The parking lot is spacious, and has plenty of room for handicapped guests (my wife is in a wheelchair). The lobby itself is inviting, open, and spacious, and all of the front desk employees I dealt with during my stay were not only pleasant and helpful, but friendly and conversational. Our room was very-well climate controlled, with a wall unit to set the temperature being very effective despite hot weather outside. The two queen beds were cushy, and there were fuzzy blankets in the drawers of the dresser/entertainment center in case the blankets and sheets provided with the beds weren't up to snuff. Our view looked out at the lake, facing south. The huge benefit to this is that, at no point during the day is the sun shining directly into the bedroom - morning comes softly, and evening leaves the same. It has swimming areas available not only on the beach itself, but also in an indoor pool, the enclosure of which houses a sauna and a hot tub as well. My family used the in-facility restaurant for our checkout breakfast, and all I have to say is that the breakfast gravy is amazing, and the skillet (on special that day) was perhaps the best breakfast skillet I have ever tasted. We vacation yearly - this IS a new regular destination for us.

Everything was great at the resort EXCEPT the noise on the street side. Very loud with the trains. And please be careful at the Tiki Bar outside. We were ripped off with a debit card and it came from the bar. It was reported and waiting to see what management does to the employee. Our bank took care of our end for reimbursement.

Our AC didn't work and we were there for only 1 night; at checkout, we told the front desk our AC didn't work & she just checked us out & didn't offer an apology or acknowledgement about our AC not working. We ate at the Tiki Bar and it was good for what they had on the menu. Bed comfort was amazing, bed was comfy. Beach sand was clean no sticks, the water had no rocks. will be back there again yearly.
We ate at the Tiki Bar and it was good for what they had on the menu. Bed comfort was amazing, bed was comfy. Beach sand was clean no sticks, the water had no rocks. will be back there again yearly.

Late afternoon when entering room, noted room was extremely cold. We fiddled with temperature controls, then left the room for a late dinner/drink. Return, which was late, there was NO difference in air temp (66 degrees). Desk explained that during the extreme heat wave, just before we came, maintenance locked room controls so people would not mess with them. Unfortunately, the extreme cold room kept us from sleeping comfortably and having a productive next day.

Hot tub not working, no microwave in rooms. Staff was efficient and professional. Rooms were clean, but only cleaned every third day when you’re in the room. The beach was nice, but not much to do when the weather is bad.

The city of East Tawas is a gem on the east coast of Michigan's Lower Peninsula - a quaint, lakeside community with a bustling downtown area. The Tawas Bay Beach Resort is located almost squarely in the center of town, right on the lake. The parking lot is spacious, and has plenty of room for handicapped guests (my wife is in a wheelchair). The lobby itself is inviting, open, and spacious, and all of the front desk employees I dealt with during my stay were not only pleasant and helpful, but friendly and conversational. Our room was very-well climate controlled, with a wall unit to set the temperature being very effective despite hot weather outside. The two queen beds were cushy, and there were fuzzy blankets in the drawers of the dresser/entertainment center in case the blankets and sheets provided with the beds weren't up to snuff. Our view looked out at the lake, facing south. The huge benefit to this is that, at no point during the day is the sun shining directly into the bedroom - morning comes softly, and evening leaves the same. It has swimming areas available not only on the beach itself, but also in an indoor pool, the enclosure of which houses a sauna and a hot tub as well. My family used the in-facility restaurant for our checkout breakfast, and all I have to say is that the breakfast gravy is amazing, and the skillet (on special that day) was perhaps the best breakfast skillet I have ever tasted. We vacation yearly - this IS a new regular destination for us.

Arrived in Tawas around 1:00 pm. Couldn't check in until 3 pm unless you wanted to pay $20 for early check in. No, we don't. Bar didn't open until 4. So, we went downtown for lunch and came back at 2:30. My niece paid the $20 but they said ours still wasn't clean. At 2:50 we finally got the room. They lost our lunch, bar and future business. There was a bug on the chair in the morning and the lobby was cold.

The room was nice, but the door to the second floor stairway wouldn’t open with our key card, so we had to enter on the first floor, walk halfway across the hotel to get to another stairway, then walk back to the far end where our room was. That’s a long way to carry heavy bags. We mentioned it to three employees during our stay, and nothing was done. Also , I was told they were going to write my debit card info “on the back of a piece of paper” in case of incidental charges. I can’t believe, in 2025, there isn’t a safer way to store my personal information than scribbling it on a piece of paper. Other than these two issues, we did have a pleasant stay and would return.

We showed up at 2pm and I asked the front desk (first person that I saw at the computer all the to the right side). The woman had a rude attitude for no reason at all. She told me that check-in time was at 4 pm so come back at 4. Then she checked in another couple 5 minutes later. As the day went on, I noticed her checking in many other folks. I came back at 4 and our room was still not ready. I waited around the lobby and watched other people get checked in. Our room was ready after 4:30.

Our AC didn't work and we were there for only 1 night; at checkout, we told the front desk our AC didn't work & she just checked us out & didn't offer an apology or acknowledgement about our AC not working. Very good onsite restaurant with nice view of adjacent beach and Lake Huron. Also, nice outside bar and grill at beach. Easy walk across the street to downtown East Tawas shops and nearby pier. One caveat - no elevator to second floor rooms so people with mobility issues need to request first floor room. Staff was helpful and very pleasant. Plenty of free onsite parking. We didn't use the pool, exercise or game rooms, but they appeared clean and inviting for those interested.

The property had so much potential. The front staff was kind, but one staff member was outside smoking, which is gross and she did it at the front entrance doors. The restaurant didn't serve breakfast because they were short staffed. They had it one morning on the June 8th and it was terrible and cold. The bar outside was super cute but once again it was closed a few days because it was short staffed. The didn't do house cleaning, only every 3 days so we had to ask for more items. The gym had one treadmill and one bike. They need a weight rack with some dumb bells at least. I wanted to upgrade my room but because I booked with Expedia, they wouldn't allow me to.

The on site restaurant was sorely understaffed. I felt terrible for the one waitress, waiting on the whole place. They weren’t serving over half of the drink menu and waited until 20 minutes after I ordered to tell me they were out of the dish I ordered. When the new dish I ordered came out, it was cold. It took about 2 hours from start to finish to get our meal. The onsite lounge was no better. They advertised drink flights and appetizers, yet when we got here they didn’t have anything they advertised. When we asked for a menu, we were told there was no menu. The waitress had no idea what they even had available. It was frustrating for sure. Having said this, the pool/hot tub area looked freshly remodeled and very clean. Front desk staff was helpful and kind. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

One of the WORST hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, the entire property smelled awful and felt dirty, neglected, poorly maintained, and completely unwelcoming. My original upstairs room was EXTREMELY dirty and smelled so foul that I couldn’t tolerate staying in it and had to request another room. I was moved to an accessible room on the first floor, which was the hotel’s solution rather than addressing why the original room was unacceptable in the first place. The front-desk experience made everything even worse. The staff were extremely rude, mean, dismissive, and shockingly unhelpful. I tried to buy a $2 bottle of water and was told they wouldn’t accept a credit card or even charge it to my room. Instead, I was directed to an ATM, where I could have paid a $5 fee just to get cash for a $2 water. I ended up going back to my car and searching for $2 in change. Absolutely ridiculous. There was also no elevator to the second floor. Between the filthy, foul-smelling room, having to change rooms, poor maintenance, rude service, and absurd policies, I finally had enough and checked out early rather than spend the rest of the night there. Also felt like there were bugs in the bed. I wasn’t expecting luxury, I expected basic cleanliness, reasonable service, and common sense. Apparently even that was too much to ask. I would NEVER stay here again. There are similarly priced hotels that actually treat guests with respect. AVOID THIS PLACE.
