The hotel was easy to find, like it’s says in the name of”the gateway “. It’s the gateway to Windermere “. It only took us approximately 15 mins tops going to Windermere. Our room was on top floor. It’s small but it’s clean, very nice, quiet and cozy. There’s a touch modern, sophisticated chic look. We have a 3 yr old Chug called coco with us and as soon as we take her up in bed, she always go straight and position herself to the bolster pillow behind it , which is bigger than her right in the middle of the bed. The bed was comfortable . The 2 very nice chairs were very comfy to sit on while having a warm drink. The bathroom was nice and clean. I celebrated my birthday in there and I got complimentary bottle of proseco from the management. Thank you so much. The food was very nice and tasty. They allowed dogs with you in the restaurant which we thought was amazing because like our coco, she likes bread with butter. And they have comfortable seats with parasol outside the restaurant where you can just relax and have a drink. They have a huge front lawn where dogs like coco can play and they have their own parking space right infront of the hotel so you know your car is safe. The staffs were all very nice and welcoming to us as well as to coco especially Ionella. We will definitely recommend the hotel to our friends, family & colleagues. xx

The staff was excellent and the hotel was well run. The food was very good and we looked forward each night to try another item on the menu.

Another excellent dog friendly stay at the Gateway. Staff were welcoming to us and our dogs (they weren't just tolerated). Our room was lovely, perfect temperature (we stayed September), decorated smartly and cleaned well with thoughtful extras like pillow chocolates. The English Lakes toiletries in the bathroom were luxurious and the bed comfortable. We didn't have breakfast this time due to plans but the evening meals were absolutely gorgeous as always. Our third visit and it won't be our last. Thanks for the service all.

A bit of a mixed bag. This is more of a pub/restaurant with rooms. No reception desk, simply get your key from the bar. No problem at all. The stairs to the room are steep, narrow and curved so it is relatively difficult to take bags up stairs (the hotel does mention this on its site). My room was an 'attic-style' in the roof space. It looked nice, had a comfy bed and a small but 'ok' shower room. The room was very-prettily furnished and nicely presented but not very practical. The bedside lamps were very large and, themselves, took up 80% of the space on the tables. Worse, they were sited in wooden trays which further limited the small amount of remaining space. The 'wooden trays' theme was repeated on other surfaces, further limiting useable space. Worse still was the temperature of the room. Attic space rooms are often hot and this one was no exception. Unfortunately, the windows would only open about 4 inches and were prevented from opening further by the 'secuirty wire'. No one present knew where the key for the window lock was located. So, despite there being an electric fan in the room, I spend an uncomforatbly-hot and relatively sleepless night. Not good.
