My family and I were in town for a softball tournament. Upon initial check-in we were given our room key. We open the door to the room and there were paint cans and other materials everywhere. I called the front desk and she was ever accommodating by placing us in another room. The room was clean for the most part. However, the curtains had dark stains on them, the light fixtures in the bathroom were rusted, and there was a bug on one of the beds. Not an awful hotel, but I won’t be staying at this location again.

The elevator stopped working when I was there. I was only going downstairs because my key wasn’t working. The manager asked when I was checking out which I thought was weird since he had to pull me up to get my card to work. I had to walk up and down the stairs afterwards cause they couldn’t fix the elevator. The lady that checked me in was extremely nice nice and helpful on my checkin day

We were here for 3 days for church and will say that this was the cleanist hotel we have stayed at in the last 10 years coming to Alexandria! I usually bring cleaning products with us to clean our room once we check in and to my surprise when i cleaned the floors they were actually CLEAN! The staff was very friendly and professional as well!

They gave my room to someone after they checked me into the room already. So someone walked in my room and I had to ask them to leave. Then we had to go down and ask the front desk to reprogram our room keys. This place was dirty and out dated. The tile in the elevator was caulked to the floor. There were marks and scuffs on all the walls. We had two of the exact same tv remotes in our room and neither one worked. We called the front desk to help us with the tv remote and she said she would send someone right up. Then after waiting an hour we called back and the same woman said no maintenance would be available for the night and she could not leave the counter to come help us. She tried to give us technical support from the phone and then she apologized and let us go. The beds were spotless or I would have just left. The furniture was old and worn and I was so worried about how dirty it was that I didn't sit on it one time. The room was very poorly lit and the counters had spots on them like they had been wiped down with dirty water. The mirror in the bathroom was delaminating and the trim was partly missing around the mirror. There was no soap to wash your hands with so we just used the bodywash we brought with us to wash our hands. Then the next morning the coffee machine downstairs was broke also. We gladly just left and got coffee elsewhere. Next time we will just pay the few extra dollars and stay at the Holiday Inn that shares a parking lot with this motel.

Nice room, very comfortable. My only dissatisfaction with this chain is that they don't offer a breakfast. That's the main reason I rarely stay at Candlewood. If the hotel next to them (where I regularly stay) had not been full I would have stayed there. It's a nice property, though.

Absolutely terrible could not check in customer service was terrible, was not even able to check in saying they haven’t been paid well I paid and after a conversation with hotels.com and a them speaking with hotel I was moved to holiday inn express Terrible service on the hotels end!!

The reservation was for a room with 2 beds for myself and my 2 children. Upon checkin I was given a room with 1 queen bed because there were no more rooms available. Then at 5:15 AM someone else was attempting to enter my room with a key because they booked in the same room.

Originally had our room of a 1 BR mixed up and not available had us in a 2 queen room. Talked front desk & they had no 1 BR available. Was going to cancel but decided to wait & see if they did anything next day. They rearranged their reservations the next day & moved us to the room we had reserved. Anyone can make a mistake, it is how it is corrected that counts and they corrected their error. Great front desk staff. Many restaurants nearby.

The front desk people were very nice. However, our toilet did not flush, the room had a terrible smell and we didn't realize it was in a very unsafe area for females traveling alone. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you were not leaving the hotel. Unfortunately no one addressed the toilet situation, but we only stayed one night.

Originally had our room of a 1 BR mixed up and not available had us in a 2 queen room. Talked front desk & they had no 1 BR available. Was going to cancel but decided to wait & see if they did anything next day. They rearranged their reservations the next day & moved us to the room we had reserved. Anyone can make a mistake, it is how it is corrected that counts and they corrected their error. Great front desk staff. Many restaurants nearby.

They gave my room to someone after they checked me into the room already. So someone walked in my room and I had to ask them to leave. Then we had to go down and ask the front desk to reprogram our room keys. This place was dirty and out dated. The tile in the elevator was caulked to the floor. There were marks and scuffs on all the walls. We had two of the exact same tv remotes in our room and neither one worked. We called the front desk to help us with the tv remote and she said she would send someone right up. Then after waiting an hour we called back and the same woman said no maintenance would be available for the night and she could not leave the counter to come help us. She tried to give us technical support from the phone and then she apologized and let us go. The beds were spotless or I would have just left. The furniture was old and worn and I was so worried about how dirty it was that I didn't sit on it one time. The room was very poorly lit and the counters had spots on them like they had been wiped down with dirty water. The mirror in the bathroom was delaminating and the trim was partly missing around the mirror. There was no soap to wash your hands with so we just used the bodywash we brought with us to wash our hands. Then the next morning the coffee machine downstairs was broke also. We gladly just left and got coffee elsewhere. Next time we will just pay the few extra dollars and stay at the Holiday Inn that shares a parking lot with this motel.

Stay was relatively quiet. However room was a bit outdated. Ironing board was old, restroom doors did not lock. Also no pool or hot breakfast option. Would love to see more cameras on floors for this location as well. Other than that, it was ok

Nice room, very comfortable. My only dissatisfaction with this chain is that they don't offer a breakfast. That's the main reason I rarely stay at Candlewood. If the hotel next to them (where I regularly stay) had not been full I would have stayed there. It's a nice property, though.

I was very pleased with everything. The most impressive thing about our stay was the fact that the elevator broke at about 8:30pm the day we checked in. Our room was on the third floor and we were worried that we would have to carry all of our baggage down three flights of stairs when we checked out the next morning. Surprisingly they had it up and running by 7am! I would like to recognize the staff who worked diligently to make that happen: the general manager, Ms Nona, Zachary and Tario. That’s teamwork!

The room was horrible the first thing how dirty it was. The cleaning staff left someone bowel movement in the toilet which is beyond disgusting. The room smelled like strong onions including the bedding. The shower was not clean hair and something else was on the shower floor and mold! There was not one towel or shower curtain in the room. The television didn’t work. The night staff was not label to fix and said no signal and will turn off in nine minutes. It was the front desk clerk first day and she was the only person there with no assistance took along time to check in which is not her fault. Old food was left in the refrigerator. I couldn’t believe this was Candlewood I have a video not pictures so can’t upload

Me and my family did not have a good experience at this hotel. I reserved two rooms for my son and his wife, My Husband, and myself. When I got to the hotel to check in, the staff appeared to be disorganized. There was a new person waiting on us, and I noticed the person training him was very rude. They could not give me a room side-by-side with me and My family. Now that would’ve been OK but when I was told the elevator did not work, that rubbed me the wrong way. The new guy did offer to help us up the stairs with our luggage, my daughter-in-law is pregnant so that was still a struggle. We tried to get a hotel close by, but they were full, and we were told by them that this hotel where we stayed, the elevator has been out for three months. I don’t know how true that is, but I do know that the elevator was out during our stay. Once we got up to the room, My Husband and myself could hardly breathe with the smoke smell, now this is supposed to be a smoke Free hotel. And they could not move us into any other room because they were completely booked. The water in the tub drip all night and would not turn completely off. my son and his wife’s room, television volume did not come up loud enough for them to hear it. And on top of that, while my son was changing his clothes, a man walked in on him, he was a worker, and he let himself in. I have to say the worst of everything was the small field room that My Husband and myself had to sleep in all night. In town for Mom‘s funeral.
