Had to visit Clemson during the summer and picked this hotel. Beautiful views while relaxing at the pool. Delicious salads also at the restaurant. Great service at the Starbucks in the lobby - that employee was so awesome!!

The only issue with the property was the pool area closes at 9pm. All near buy hotels are open until at least 10pm or later. If your intention is to use the pool or related facilities in the evening or you plan some outdoor socializing in the evening I suggest Lakeside Lodge that also has a fire pit that is great for socializing.

Beautiful property with golf course, lake and large outdoor pool views. Nice first floor patios to make bringing dogs convenient. Second stay and would continue to stay here.

Amazing property. Super clean and gorgeous lake views. Great pool with great service from bar staff. Super close to the university. Very safe and quiet. Loved everything about this place including the monogrammed Clemson bed pillow!!

The grounds and amenities are nice but the room was disappointing. It was extremely damp, the walls were sweating. There was urine on the bathroom wall. The sink on the left side had the filthiest brown water coming from faucet. The sheets were scratchy. The beds were very narrow (definitely not queen sized) and awkwardly tall. The fridge was difficult to open and close because the door would catch on lip of the plastic drip tray it was sitting on. The couch was so filthy it belongs in a dumpster, and the furniture is super outdated. The location is beautiful but I would not stay in this hotel again because it is in desperate need of extensive renovation.

A few notable events, the hotel was very low census the night we stayed with only a few cars on the parking lot. With that it appears that they put all the reservations that night in the same spot of the hotel. I suppose that makes it easier for the cleaners. Speaking of cleaning, I did not use the shower u tik the morning and as my eyes acclimated that morning I found a huge hairball and no shampoo. It appears I was in a dirty shower. The really of my party didn't shower at all after this. Lastly the doors have no soft close mechanism so each and every door close is a slam that resonates throughout your room throughout the night. I notified the front desk of the dirty shower and they appeared uncertain how to address the issue. No offer to access a clean shower to start our day off on the right foot.

My husband and I were thoroughly impressed from the moment we arrived. Lots of parking, well-manicured landscaping, friendly front desk attendant. The facilities are impeccable; our room was clean and comfortable, and overlooked the pool, with a view of the lake just beyond. Everywhere we looked there was another detail to appreciate - management seems to have thought of everything. We will definitely book again for our next Clemson graduation visit!

The hotel is very outdated and run down. Flat, old, foam pillows, dirty bathroom, toilet cracked and missing pieces over the bolts that hold it in place, light fixture loosely covering a big hole in the ceiling, a gap in the door that let bright light shine into the room all night, incomplete sets of towels for the number booked for the room.

The restaurant on site is lovely. The grounds are beautiful. Bed sleeps well. The walls are too thin. We heard the family in the room next to us all night. They woke us up a few times. People were yelling in the hallways too.

The James F Martin is our favorite Clemson hotel. We always stay here. The staff is amazing and the rooms the spacious and comfortable. The location and amenities are great and we always feel welcome.

The grounds are beautiful and the hotel is right on campus which I enjoyed and was the purpose of my visit. The room was a little tired but I’m being picky. It was clean and quiet and did the job. I had a great nights sleep and the staff were welcoming. Would stay again.

2 things altered my stay. A large cockroach/palmetto bug crawled on me while sleeping. I live in SC and have never had one crawl on me while sleeping. Ever. It took a while, but I was able to find it and squash it. It’s that what you want to do from 3-4am? Then the alarm clock went off at 5:00am. It was dark so I couldn’t read the tiny print on how to turn it off. I erroneously hit snooze instead of iff. So on the second alarm I was just up for the day… after a poor night sleep from chasing cockroaches. Why would they have alarm clocks like that? And who even uses alarm clock anymore? Cell phones and front desk are the norm. If youre going to have alarm clocks that have a unique way of turning on/off then the cleaning staff should turn them off after each and every guest. I will not be back because life is too short to stay in hotels that do the bare minimum. Oh, and the place was furnished from grandmas attic. Pristine condition but looks like it’s from an old Golden Corral restaurant. Very quiet hotel. Appears clean and new but furniture looks like it’s straight from the 80s.

They are the most helpful, kind people. They have been exceptionally accommodating above and beyond expectations. We love this hotel. It’s meticulously maintained and most of all has the most professional, sweet staff we ever encountered. Southern hospitality at its finest. Highly recommend

Property is great proximity to school. I had requested a rollaway bed weeks in advance and was told it would be setup in the room upon arrival, which it wasn’t. And they were all gone, so we had to use an air mattress with no sheet.

Everywhere we looked there was another detail to appreciate - management seems to have thought of everything. We will definitely book again for our next Clemson graduation visit!

Very nice property and good restaurant. Everything else was sub-par…pun intended😏 Rooms are furnished with very old decor, harsh, bright white lighting, old bathrooms, old carpeting, and those old flowered mattresses from the 90s that you can see through the thin sheets. Oh, and when I arrived around 11:00 at night, I walked into the lobby to an empty desk. I patiently waited for about 15 mins until another group came in and started waiting. I then called the phone number and the front desk phone started ringing. That seemed to make enough noise to call the employee to the desk. I get that it’s sometimes necessary to step away from the desk, but if you’re going to do it, then you either need to only be away for a few mins at a time, or have a bell or camera or something to alert you that guests are waiting.

Beautiful property, clean and updated rooms, excellent staff. My daughter and I arrived very late after a long day of travel. I called the hotel to let them know we were coming in late and the staff was so gracious and nice. Fantastic example of excellent customer service for the hospitality industry.

Property was clean and staff is very pleasant. Location inconvenient to both campus and downtown. No lighting or clear walkway to get to campus and no shuttle services. Uber took 20 minutes no matter the time of day called. Also only hotel that does not offer any complimentary water. Recommend staying here if only interested is golfing.

My favorite place to stay in Clemson! The rooms are spacious, well appointed and clean, the views to the golf course and lake so special, especially at sunset. It’s peaceful and set apart, yet 5 minutes from campus.

The property is on a golf course with a large pond. The property is well-kept inside and out. It was quiet and we felt safe being there. It was only a 5 minute drive to the downtown area and the campus. There are a lot of food and shopping options.

Very nice property that was dog friendly. The back grounds with pool and dog walkway were gorgeous. It was great having a first floor with patio facing the back/pool/lake. The staff wasnt very friendly. The restaurant, while looked like a great menu, was very disappointing in taste/quality. Its right next to the botanical gardens and across from campus. Overall very pleased and would def stay again.

Everything was great but we were disappointed that the restaurant was closed on Easter. Otherwise he location was convenient to Clemson and the rooms and staff were great.

Had to visit Clemson during the summer and picked this hotel. Beautiful views while relaxing at the pool. Delicious salads also at the restaurant. Great service at the Starbucks in the lobby - that employee was so awesome!!

Awesome setting very close to Clemson’s football stadium. Really nice hotel in a golf course. Beautiful setting and would highly recommend staying here. Only wish would be some sort of continental breakfast offering, but there is a snack/coffee shop in the conference area - attached to hotel.

Clemson was on its fall break so their student workers at the hotel were away. This meant that there were no amenities. No restaurant services or any other service beyond a bed. Certainly patrons making a reservation during this time should be notified that they will have to fend for themselves for breakfast, lunch dinner or even a drink. It was not a hotel, it was little more than a motel.

We had a nice brief stay at the inn the night before our tour at Clemson. There was a bit of an issue with parking due to there being an event at the center while we were staying there. Other than that, it was super convenient to the admissions/tour location and I would recommend it for anyone who was going for a tour at the University.
