Really cute motel. We couldn't hear anybody else from the room we had in the corner. It wasn't an issue for us but the ice machine is in the lobby and the lobby was closed most of the time we were there so definitely plan for that if you need ice. Close to beaches, very walkable area. Owners were very friendly. We would definitely stay again!

Great management that was very helpful and courteous. Cute rooms with fun retro vibe that were very clean. A little bit of road noise but not anything that really bothered me. This spot is very convenient to downtown Traverse City and Old Mission Peninsula. It had good parking, was safe, and was dog friendly.

The Sierra Motel has a vintage look with all the modern amenities. Although the traffic noise can be a little loud, that was nothing that earplugs couldn’t fix. Everything has been updated and is very clean. We loved that we had a fridge, microwave, and Keurig. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

We don't need fancy when we're up in TC area. Just clean and comfy. Beds were good, but there was previous tenet's food in the fridge. Yuck. Also, not having access to ice is a problem. There should be a way we could use our key after hours to access the area that has ice.

The owners went above and beyond with their motel. Charging for electronic devices, nicely renovated rooms/bathrooms in mid century style, free parking, pet friendly, coffeemaker, fridge - very pleasant stay. We spent two nights and can only recommend Sierra Motel.

Convenient, affordable property..We had a Keurig, mini fridge, microwave, and hair dryer. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would have rated area a 5, but the location has traffic noise. It wasn't a huge deal (we uaed a noise maker at night), but being TC there is a lot of traffic. Highly recommend staying here.

Well run and clean property less than a mile east of downtown Traverse City. The owners are very hands on with their guests and their property. They are very willing to give dining and site seeing recommendations as well as providing anything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The bathrooms are small but all the fixtures are new and in perfect working order. In the room there is a small fridge, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely stay here again when we’re in Traverse City!

The Sierra is such a groovy little motel. The decor is retro and so cool - great colors and vibe! Our room was spotless and had every convenience we needed - including a mini frig. The location is awesome - we walked everywhere. The owners were so kind and had our room ready in a jiffy. We would not hesitate to stay here again!

I came to Traverse City for a solo getaway. The Sierra Motel was perfect for me! Check-in and Check-out were both seamless. I love the decor! The room was adorable. Bed was comfy and my favorite thing was that the room was SPOTLESS—and I’m picky! I’ll definitely be back to support this locally-owned business.

The manager welcomed us to the property, provided bottled water and personally inspected our room before we occupied it. The room was small but exceptionally clean. The bathroom had modern fixtures and the bed was comfortable. Perfect for our short visit to Traverse City.

This motel is located perfectly for convenience to the city, the wineries and the water. The room was spotlessly clean with everything in it all shiny and new. The owners are on site and are very helpful with anything you may need. I stayed with my dog for a small fee and appreciated that they don't discriminate against big dogs as most places do. I would absolutely recommend this motel.

It’s a motel, and so the rooms are small with basic amenities, and open to the parking lot. That said, it provides everything you need, it is clean and well maintained, and the responsiveness to requests (extra pillows or coffee) was rapid and pleasant. The location is great. The rooms are bright and decorated in a charming aesthetic maintained in every detail throughout the interior and exterior of the units. Many features seemed new (mattresses, bathroom fixtures, light fixtures). Special call out to the full length mirror and waterfall shower head! This was a perfect place for our short stay in Traverse City.

Super cute remodel! It fit our needs for our stay. Everything was clean and well thought out. The only thing I had an issue with is the mattress which was very firm and not comfortable at all. I think easier access to the ice machine would be helpful. Otherwise it's a great place to stay!

The bathroom was way too small. No place to put your things. It needs updating. The new owners just bought the motel and said they were in the process of planning an update. The new owners were extremely nice and helpful.

Motel Sierra is pure joy! Every corner bursts with 1950s charm—bright blues, turquoise, and sunny yellow details, all brand new yet true to the era. You can feel the love for the 1950s culture in every detail. The rooms are small but impeccably clean, with bedding and mattresses exactly as you’d expect for this category. They’ve just added new bikes, and we were lucky enough to be the very first guests to try them! Riding the amazing yellow bike drew compliments from kids and adults alike. While the bikes are free, leaving $20 shows appreciation and helps support the community spirit that makes this place special.

My only complaint was the bathrooms. They are small and there's zero counter space to set down your clothes, shaving kit, or makeup bag. Showers aren't designed the best to keep the water off the floor. The room was clean, check in was simple, and overall was a positive experience.

We enjoyed staying at the Sierra for a couple of nights. We arrived in Traverse City earlier than expected, and the owners were kind enough to let us check in as soon as our room was ready. The room has windows with screens, so you’re not forced to use the AC. Everything has been updated. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Other reviews have commented on the small showers. Yes, they’re small, but certainly big enough to get the job done. They’re clean, the water pressure is good and the towels are soft and fluffy. If I were going to make recommendations for creature comforts, it would be maybe…softer sheets, having a blanket available in the room and maybe throw rugs/mats on the floor by where you get in and out of bed.

We had a great stay at the Sierra! My friends and I really enjoyed our stay. It’s in a great location, we were able to check in hours early, and everything was so clean. They were also so helpful with recommendations for restaurants. We all couldn’t have been happier with our stay!

Nice old-school vibe but freshly renovated and really well-kept. The staff was awesome, and the owner went above and beyond—he jumpstarted my car and even came out first to check on me. Super helpful and friendly, even gave us great local recommendations since we were just passing through. I’d definitely stay here again

The Sierra Motel embraces it's 60s origins with a remodel using top line products with a throw back aesthetic. All was very clean and everything we needed. Owners were very friendly and quickly handled some (very) noisy guests in the middle of the night, checking in with us first thing the next day to make it up to us.

We love this motel! We've stayed here twice and will be back. The location is excellent. Easy to get to everything. The room is adorable and clean. We bring our dog with us and they provided a water bowl and treats! Highly recommend!

Great little motel! The location was perfect, easy to get into & out of without having to go through the heart of TC, walkable to town, food and activities. The owners were always available, friendly & helpful, and the grounds and rooms were not only adorable, but clean and very well kept. Highly recommend!

The Sierra is such a groovy little motel. The decor is retro and so cool - great colors and vibe! Our room was spotless and had every convenience we needed - including a mini frig. The location is awesome - we walked everywhere. The owners were so kind and had our room ready in a jiffy. We would not hesitate to stay here again!

Stayed in Traverse City for two nights. Took my E bike with me to ride sleeping bear amd lelanau trails. This is in a good location close to the downtown dining and bar district. I was able to ride to that area in 5 to 10 minutes. Very clean. Owners stay on site and are very friendly. Not your typical motel. Very clean and comfortable. Definitely would stay here again.

This motel is located perfectly for convenience to the city, the wineries and the water. The room was spotlessly clean with everything in it all shiny and new. The owners are on site and are very helpful with anything you may need. I stayed with my dog for a small fee and appreciated that they don't discriminate against big dogs as most places do. I would absolutely recommend this motel.

Awesome 50s vibe. The rooms were thoughtfully designed, with hip furniture and a cozy retro feel. This is clearly a family’s labor of love, and it’s a great addition to the renaissance of roadside motels. 10/10. I’d come back here for sure.

This is the cutest little gem! The rooms were clean, ours was quite large, and parking was plentiful. It’s got a funky retro motel vibe that makes it really unique in a sea of generic hotels. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. 10/10 recommend. Traveler tip: The Cottage (down the street and walkable) was a great place to hit for breakfast.

We loved our experience at The Sierra! Extremely clean and cozy. Excellent aesthetics. We can't wait to return and take the bikes for a spin.
