Holiday Inn Express & Suites Utica, NY

The pool was locked and once it was unlocked there were no towels.

Elevator wasn’t working properly, fitness area closed for renovations

I really like this hotel, and we stay here often because my son goes to MVCC in Utica. They do advertise a pool which was not available. They should say that in their description, however I did get a generous refund. The housekeeping staff could be better.

Rooms are average, what you expect from a mid priced hotel. Breakfast was good, the one quirk is they don't have oatmeal(they usually have packets but didn't have any one of the days we were there) The gym was the most lacking feature. It's a NON air conditioned room that's just big enough to hold a bike, treadmill, and elliptical(Which wasn't working). They advertise it's near a rail trail, but the section we walked near the locks was REALLY isolated, definitely not somewhere to go alone.

I love the new chargers for my car (Tesla) that are on property. This is why I will continue to choose this hotel when I travel.

Staff were very helpful, property was well kept. Breakfast area was large with lots of choices. Laundry facilities were welcome! Room clean, spacious and worth the price paid. Would stay here again

The room was comfortable and the hotel was nice. We had noisy neighbours last night, we could hear them through the wall and did not sleep well because of them. The water in the swimming pool was too cold. The stuff was nice and friendly, overall, this hotel is a good choice.

Elevator was broken but the front desk lady was amazing. She made up for it.

Service was awesome. Nice selection for breakfast; it was easy to meet all the diets in my family. Only disappointing thing was theyhad just added chemicals to the pool so the fumes were nauseating and we didn’t get in.

Hotel is older but main areas were clean. Bathroom in our room looked like the shower hadn’t been cleaned and the bar of soap from the previous guest was still inside but main room was clean. Breakfast was nice and easy to access.

Room could have been cleaned better. It was apparent that the floor had not been swept….hair on floor. Yuck!!

Hotel was extremely dirty and not well kept. Other hotels in the state along the highway are in much better condition and price. Curtains had gross stains on them, and shower and bathroom area were not well maintained. Breakfast was good, that’s about it. When telling the manager on duty the next morning and showing her pictures, she didn’t seem overlay concerned. Will not be staying at a Holiday Inn again.

Excellent rooms, well-kept and clean. Clean all around, with staff that are very helpful and thoughtful. Stayed twice and will definitely stay again when we travel throughout the area.

My stay was pretty good the room wasn't as clean as it had been in the past. Most of the furniture was quite dusty. Tho happily the bathroom was clean and the beds are very comfortable. I do feel like the free breakfast should be available until a I'm leaving Utica now so I'll it will be late when I get home plus I'm already so wiped out. I'm sorry I would have loved to see everyone time. Being several times I've missed it because I'm trying to pack and checkout therefore it is very hard to get down for breakfast in time

Stopped for an overnight stay. We felt safe, however the rooms and hotel seemed a bit run down. The furniture was dinged up. The room looked clean at first glance, but the bathroom was pretty dirty which made us question the cleanliness of everything else. There were splatters on the wall and ceiling. There was a chunky substance on the shower curtain, residue on the shower soaps, and hairsin the tub and ceiling.

The front desk employee Peter was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately when we arrived and went to our room, we discovered that it hadn’t been cleaned. Peter was quick to find us a new room. Decor was a little dated but overall neds were comfortable.

We requested a room with a king bed. The hotel manager called us the day we were to arrive asking if we could take a king room. We said yes that is what we requested. When we checked in we got a room with two double beds. I showed the girl working the front desk the written transcript from the managers voicemail and she apologized saying they cannot honor that. We were not happy about that. This hotel has paper thin walls. You hear your neighbors talking and even going to the bathroom. The doors slam shut and wake you up. We would not go to this hotel again. On a positive note the breakfast was good and Janine, who works the breakfast buffet, was so friendly and nice! She was the best thing about this hotel!

Convenient location for shopping, freeway acces, visit family, and restaurant. There could be stronger In-room lighting.

We stay at Holiday Inn Expresses quite often. This was not as good as most, but not bad at all. I would stay here again, but I would be more enthusiastic with better shower water pressure.

Great hotel for the price. Would definitely stay here again. Only thing that could be improved is the beds ... mattresses were quite hard

I've been a long-time customer of Expedia, and I have never written a single negative report on any properties that I have been to. This review is for the manager (Shirley) and another younger lady that was working at the front desk exclusively. Because I was told they were already booked and no more rooms were available when we checked in. I made a reservation on Jan. 11, standard room with 2 queen beds. It was for May 11 & 12. We were 4 and 1 king bed in the room.The whole entire stay until we checked out, the "younger lady" kept on telling us multiple times that we will be given a discount for the "trouble". When we checked out, the rate went up. She said she will calI to make an adjustment. But no calls. I made contact with an Expedia rep to address this issue because the rate had gone up. The rep spoke to Shirley and was told rates could go up anytime. AND our room was UPGRADED. The manager even mentioned that she will also call me to address this issue. Again, no calls. This review was made because I made a reservation 4 months ahead, we weren't given another room (because they said no more vacancies), and the misconduct of the manager and another staff. All they have to say is "rates go up" and nothing they could do. They didn't have the proper behavior to handle this situation, and gave false statements. We don't have complaints about the property itself, but the behavior of these women was appalling. They were very nice in person but very dishonest.

We were warmly greeted on our early arrival by the front desk staff member. He quickly accommodated our request for a first floor room, provided us with snacks, and thanked us for our business. Housekeeping provided us with extra bath towels immediately and another staff member kindly greeted my elderly mom and held the door open for her while she used her walker to get into the hotel. The service level at this hotel far surpasses other hotels in the area. We will be repeat customers. The hotel backs to a lovely park on the Erie River and many people were enjoying a walk in the early evening. The highway exit is just down the road. Many dining options await travelers. Stay at this hotel.

The gentleman at check was very nice and personable. Staff was pleasant, allowing us to use the restaurant area to gather our large group. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We picked it because close to Empire State Trail as we go from Buffalo to Albany and that they allow us to bring bikes into our rooms. Breakfast good, staff friendly

Staff are friendly and are ready to help with issues. Room was clean but only had been setup for one person. Area is secluded and dark in the parking lot. Another hotel that does not accept cash for drinks or snacks.

Great hotel, good central location

This was a quick overnight while on the road to somewhere else but the pool, room and breakfast and friendly service were all great. we wish all their properties offered that good a breakfast. Among the sausage and omelets, they even had a udi's gluten free muffin. Lovely!

It was a bit pricey. It was clean, quiet and fine. Little details were off. Empty tissue box in the bathroom at night and it was still not replaced by morning. Areas that were quick cleaned repetitively not deep cleaned. The breakfast choices were excellent though. The cinnamon rolls were great the egg choices and meat was all you could ask for. They had cereal and yougart a nice assortment of fruit.

The pool area was disgustingly dirty. Never any towels. The door wasnt unlocking properly and had to get stafg to open it. The bathroom in the room had a loose floor tile. There was also a mildewy smell. The breakfast was meh.

We were in Utica as participants in the Boilermaker Road Race. Although we have participated in numerous Boilermaker Road Races in the past, this was our first stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Utica. We were greeted warmly upon our arrival. We were also given the option to checkout at 1 pm on the day of our departure at no extra cost. We gratefully accepted. Upon completing the Boilermaker race and returning to the Holiday Inn Express at approximately 11:15 am, we were pleasantly surprised to see that breakfast was still being served. The staff was warm, friendly and accommodating. This will definitely be our go-to hotel for future visits to Utica.
