Really lovely country pub in Bovey Tracey, just within Dartmoor National Park. Friendly staff and the food is delicious. We brought our dog with us too and they were very friendly and accommodating to her and us. The room was huge and bed very comfortable. Excellent value for money.

Booked The Cromwell Arms for a 3 night stay with my husband. I came down to Devon to visit my Dad who lives quite near so this place was ideal for us. On arrival this is a very quaint looking establishment and quite a few places at the rear for Free parking too. We booked in and shown to our room. We were both pleasantly surprised. The double room was really beautiful, with en suite, shower and plenty of towels and complimentary s/poo, s/gel soap and body cream which i thought was so nice. We had a good size tv on the wall and plenty of choice of channels plus (Netflix, prime ect). We had a wardrobe in the room, a dressing table and chair plus a comfy big chair too. Tea, coffee making facilities and a super comfy clean bed to which we both slept very well. In the morning you are provided with a choice of cooked breakfast to which i must say was excellent produce and home cooked. We also had a few meals here too and have to say the Sunday Lunch was delicious and both of us had Roast Beef with all the trimmings, we even managed a pudding each. Melt in the middle Chocolate cake with ice cream, Barry had Mixed Fruit Crumble with Custard. Must say after drinks and coffee we were totally full. I have to mention the owners Tom and Debbie as they made us feel very welcome. It was like staying with family, staff are so polite and welcoming too. The Cromwell Arms has 14 rooms. We stayed in room 4 (front). Thanks again Tom, Debbie & Staff see you very soon. Mandy&Barry ♥️xxxx

Nice hotel in a nice town. Good that it has parking. Breakfast was also good. No problems at all with our stay. Comfortable room, quieter than might be expected next to the bar.

Another Fabulous stay at The Cromwell Arms. It truly is a Pleasure to always give this place a visit when we’re in Devon. We booked a double room, excellent bed and such a great sleep. Room has free WiFi, Tea/Coffee/Milk, Kettle ect… The only criticism I’d make is the tv in the corner wasn’t in the best place to watch as after a while our neck began to ache with facing to the right for so long, also tv could do with being a little larger. The property has a Car Park, also with disabled spaces too, a Beer garden and very dog friendly. Shops nearby like Tesco express. We had dinner at the Cromwell. I had the Roast Beef & Yorkshire Pudding Sunday dinner and my Husband had the Roast Turkey & Stuffing Sunday dinner, all came with seasonal vegetables and gravy. It was cooked to perfection and delicious too. I couldn’t manage a pudding but my Husband did and he chose Apple & Pear Crumble with custard and enjoyed every mouthful. After a Great sleep we were looking forward to the Breakfast and having been many times before we knew what was coming. I had to have the Eggs Benedict and my Husband had The Full English, both cooked to perfection using all great produce, fresh bread for your toast, apple juice as well as orange juice, a choice of cereals, fresh fruit & yogurts and tea/coffee. Thank you for a wonderful stay, and to all staff who were truly amazing, very polite and helpful keep up the great job you all do so very well. We hope to see you again soon. xxx Mrs M Watson.

Ein Zimmer im Pub. Wir fühlten uns etwas in der Zeit zurückversetzt. Personal war freundlich, hatte aber viel zu tun. Lage des Hotels sehr gut, mit Parkplatz und Biergarten. Essen und Frühstück fein.

Really nice bear garden to relax after a long days work, great local beers. The staff are absolutely amazing, go above and beyond. I visited on a business trip, having to leave early each day at 7am, thus missing breakfast. When the bar staff heard this, they arranged for a breakfast to go for me each morning. I thought this was a great touch, couldn’t ask for anymore. The food in the restaurant was outstanding, suck an enjoyable stay. The location has such character, floorboards creak, you name it but I’d definitely recommend 100%!!!

We spent 4 nights and had a family room. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was very good and breakfast excellent with plenty of choice. No problem parking. An ideal base to explore Dartmoor.

Very friendly, professional staff, nicely planted beer garden, and well tended. Good food, excellent service. Top room was very hot on arrival, but there was a fan,and we coped with the window open wide.

Another fabulous stay at Cromwell Arms. We stayed in a double room, and my brothers had a twin room all with tea/coffee facilities, tv and shower room with towels and complimentary shower gel, shampoo & soaps. The bed was so comfortable and as we couldn’t open the window they had left us a fan on in the room which was so thoughtful as it was a very warm day and room was so cool. We decided to eat at the Cromwell Arms as when we stayed last year the food was very good and homemade with great quality produce. I had the Sirloin & King Prawn, husband had Katsu Chicken Curry & Rice, and my Brothers the Homemade Beefburger all delicious. So full after we couldn’t even manage a pudding which i was really looking forward to as they had my favourite Melt in the middle chocolate fondant and ice cream but will definitely leave room next time we are down which should be hopefully round beginning of June. Breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious. I had Eggs Benedict, and the rest had a Full English. The Cromwell Arms is a lovely friendly pub and felt very welcomed. Thanks again x

Overall great stay. Room was nice and clean. Shower was good. Beds were comfortable. Noise was not a problem from downstairs. Segregated nicely. The bar areas were nice. Staff were friendly. The steak burger meal we had was tasty and filling and the meat was what i like to call proper. Breakfast in the morning was decent. Cooked options with all the traditional items and even added an extra egg for myself. The eggs benadict was also impressive and tasty. The confectionary options were nice too and you had everything you could expect such as cereals, pastries, yogurts and plenty of flavours for the toast to choose from. With drinks such as tea, coffee. Apple juice and orange juice. All situated in a nice cosy room away from the bar area. The children enjoyed having a go on the piano too which was lovely. Only downside was the room was cold and didnt heat up much but this was mentioned to them with regards to a possible seal fault with the skylight that may have been letting in a little air. But as the weather was on amber alert it probably didnt help.

Rooms ok, not extra ordinary. The glass shelf above the sink appears to be positioned too low and protrudes in a way that could easily result in someone hitting their head while using the sink. The breakfast time provided (8:30 AM) is inconvenient for business travellers who typically need to leave early. As a result, the hotel does not appear to be well-suited for business purposes. I noticed a visible dark mark on the towel provided in the room. While the towel itself felt soft and clean overall, the mark along the stitched edge was quite noticeable and slightly concerning. For a hotel, attention to linen quality and presentation is important, so I hope housekeeping can ensure better inspection before placing towels in guest rooms.

Overnight stay at this lovely pub. Finished food when we arrived but still good enough to get us a meal. Really friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable, spotlessly clean room. Would definitely stay again.

Food was brill inc the breakfast. Room was on top floor of the pub. Room was clean & tidy. About right for the £. Have to support these pubs as they need tyhe business rather than the National big players that are so impersonal. The staff were attentive as well.

Stayed there a few times now, whist working in Bovey Tracey. I won’t again tho.. it’s a very active pub - and the last two times I’ve stayed, it’s too noisy. Between good and busy beer garden (and stragglers after closing) and open mic nights.. it’s no good for me when I need to be up for work at 8! Lovely people tho!!

Would go back but would not go in room 8! Two flights of stairs and the velux windows didn't have suitable blinds so woke at first light 4am , very hot weather so hot room , did provide a fan but too noisy, that's the same thing as everywhere in a heatwave , the staff were very helpful, food excellent, the breakfast was superb, lovely place when visiting family, would definitely recommend

first off there was no heating on all week the radiators were all switched off, plus being disabled people were put on the top floor up two flight's of narrow stairs with cases , and the cost offood disgraceful, two eggs ham chips £ 16, steak dinner £ 37, sorry we wont be going back, plus the windows were twisted and letting cold air through all day and night, as said with no heating on every day and night, disgraceful

Another Fabulous stay at The Cromwell Arms. It truly is a Pleasure to always give this place a visit when we’re in Devon. We booked a double room, excellent bed and such a great sleep. Room has free WiFi, Tea/Coffee/Milk, Kettle ect… The only criticism I’d make is the tv in the corner wasn’t in the best place to watch as after a while our neck began to ache with facing to the right for so long, also tv could do with being a little larger. The property has a Car Park, also with disabled spaces too, a Beer garden and very dog friendly. Shops nearby like Tesco express. We had dinner at the Cromwell. I had the Roast Beef & Yorkshire Pudding Sunday dinner and my Husband had the Roast Turkey & Stuffing Sunday dinner, all came with seasonal vegetables and gravy. It was cooked to perfection and delicious too. I couldn’t manage a pudding but my Husband did and he chose Apple & Pear Crumble with custard and enjoyed every mouthful. After a Great sleep we were looking forward to the Breakfast and having been many times before we knew what was coming. I had to have the Eggs Benedict and my Husband had The Full English, both cooked to perfection using all great produce, fresh bread for your toast, apple juice as well as orange juice, a choice of cereals, fresh fruit & yogurts and tea/coffee. Thank you for a wonderful stay, and to all staff who were truly amazing, very polite and helpful keep up the great job you all do so very well. We hope to see you again soon. xxx Mrs M Watson.

Very friendly, professional staff, nicely planted beer garden, and well tended. Good food, excellent service. Top room was very hot on arrival, but there was a fan,and we coped with the window open wide.

Stayed here before, hence why I’ve returned. The food is great, excellent range of beers and ciders. The staff are brilliant, they go above and beyond. I had to leave early in the morning, so they made me a breakfast barm to go, brilliant service. I’ll be back next time I’m in the area, highly recommend!

Full English breakfast was good, however, portion got smaller by the day. Rooms were clean but basic. Bar staff were in need of customer service courses, found it very difficult to get them to chat or smile. The locals were very friendly and made us welcome. Will visit again but will stay elsewhere

Really nice bear garden to relax after a long days work, great local beers. The staff are absolutely amazing, go above and beyond. I visited on a business trip, having to leave early each day at 7am, thus missing breakfast. When the bar staff heard this, they arranged for a breakfast to go for me each morning. I thought this was a great touch, couldn’t ask for anymore. The food in the restaurant was outstanding, suck an enjoyable stay. The location has such character, floorboards creak, you name it but I’d definitely recommend 100%!!!

Staff were excellent from the checking to check out. From the cleaning staff up nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast was excellent both day's. My brother had a small wedding reception and the food and service was 1st class.

Really lovely country pub in Bovey Tracey, just within Dartmoor National Park. Friendly staff and the food is delicious. We brought our dog with us too and they were very friendly and accommodating to her and us. The room was huge and bed very comfortable. Excellent value for money.

After a fairly tough bike ride from Totnes the inn was very welcoming and friendly. The staff were lovely and showed us where we could securely leave our bikes. The breakfast was excellent.

Friendly staff and a nice breakfast. Dinner was mostly out of packets as far as I could tell, the rooms a bit tired with a fair bit of noise from the high street (not their fault!). A ridiculous sign saying you could only eat and drink things in your room purchased from the hotel - felt like flying Ryan Air.

The Cromwell Arms was an amazing historic site. The food, pub, and service were outstanding. The grounds and outdoor seating area was beautiful. No A/C and a thin mattress were the only things keeping this from property from receiving an excellent rating. To be fair, the listing did not indicate A\C, so we booked knowing this:).

Room was nice but we personally didn't like being in the loft with just a skylight window no real way out also we were asked what time we wanted breakfast we told them but it was obvious the food had been cooked a lot earlier bacon was rock hard

We stayed in a ground floor twin room at the Cromwell Arms during the heatwave of July 2026. The room was pleasant, the beds comfortable. Whilst there was an additional heater in the wardrobe, a fan would have been gratefully received. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. All the staff we encountered were helpful and pleasant. Overall a good place to stay.
