Auberge St-Louis

Great location. Walkable, close to sites. Thankful for the AC working well. Communal fridge in the lobby. No elevator for 3 flights of old uneven stairs so don't book the attic if you aren't up for them.

Parking is awkward. There's a parking ramp available for $20 but not really anywhere to stop with a car to get checked in to get the card to use the ramp.

Lo menos bueno es que la ducha-wc. no estaba en la habitación. Pero el precio era económico, es muy céntrico y estaba limpio. Personal amable.

Walking distance to Chateau Frontenac , restaurants and shopping areas for souvenirs.This is an old building and has no amenities, rooms are small and has no elevators. The stairs are a bit steep and run down. Very good location.

(Frigidaire mis à la disposition des clients) L’auberge est très bien située. Parfait pour rejoindre les différents points d’intérêts à la marche. Stationnement à proximité pour les autos.

Small room. Toilet is shared by the whole floor. Paying parking accross the street. Simply disappointing.

Too many unsafe stairs

Great location, very central but definitely a budget stay. Shared bathroom is only one per floor so you have to wait your turn if someone else is in the bathroom. The bathrooms also get cleaned once a day so if you happen to be there after someone showers it’s totally soaked everywhere. Someone also shaved before I had to shower so there was hair everywhere, and it was late night so reception was already gone (typically there from 11am-10 pm or so). I recommend bringing shower shoes and perhaps exploring the bathrooms on the other floors. The temperature control is also not great. It was always blowing cold air even though I had the heat on all the way. Although they do provide a double blanket, so I was not cold when I slept. There are quite a few stairs to the rooms so don’t bring lots of heavy bags. There is a refrigerator, microwave, coffee/tea, and water to refill a bottle in the common space. I would say this is the kind of place you book for the convenient location, price, and to only spend time sleeping.

Very well situated in old Quebec. My room was very basic with no shower or toilet but had its own sink with a full bathroom down the hall. Everything was clean. It was up two steep flights of stairs, which would probably be a challenge for people with mobility issues. Parking was in inside structure across the street and cost about 20 CAD.

Old house.. narrow stairs to up to 3rd floor. Not good if you have a heavy luggage like us seniors Other than that it’s ok. Very good location old Quebec.

Cleanliness was okay, they don't deep clean

Manque d’entretien; mur et fenêtre très sale… Devraient installer une machine distributrice à café pour le matin… Je ne suis pas certaine qu’ils changent les draps entre chaque client… Emplacement très pratique… offre un rabais pour le stationnement

This auberge is centrally located in old Quebec City, and would have been a modest but convenient place to stay if I hadn’t been bitten by BED BUGS !

It was good, but not very clean. Our room and washroom were dusty. The price corresponds to the quality of the room

Les draps étaient tellement usés et les rideaux tous décrochés… j’ai été déçue sinon les toilettes étaient propres et lit confortable mais je ne recommanderai pas cet endroit n’y y retourner.

This hotel is in a great area with good beds and sheets. The manager of this hotel should be on site evaluating the conditions of the hotel. Hallways need vacuuming, carpet needs replacing, paint peeling, the floor laminate board was lifted in our room and tile missing in the bathroom. We did not have hot water and the air-conditioning shut off after 10 pm on a hot day. There is a detector halfway plugged into the hall on the floor (safety concern). I enjoy staying in old hotels and expect some issues but I’ve never experienced anything like this. Yes, the walls are thin but rooms that don’t have a bathroom opening and closing the locks on their doors every time they go to the bathroom at night is loud. Hospitality goes a long way in mitigating some of the inconveniences of an old hotel. This was lacking in this facility. They had a coffee pot, but it was not put on till after 9 o’clock. There’s a sign that says cream is in the fridge, but that was not there three out of the four days we were there. There was a container for tea, but no tea in . A shout out to one of the receptionist who really tried hard and was very friendly. The price we paid through Expedia was much higher than they were charging for “walk ins” which has never happened to me before.

Luckily, the hotel had previously called me and I was able to find the correct number. He gave me instructions to find my room key with instruction to officially check in later on. Then during check in there were no ID checks or anything. -Sound travels very easily. You can hear everything. My room was on the main floor and I could hear what sounded like construction tools in the next room. -Envelope left inside room for tip, not subtle at all. -Upon checkout you just drop your keys in a box, not a safe drop box, so technically anyone can steal keys, which you would then be charged for. I'm used to budget hotels but this gave me seedy hourly rental vibes due to lack of service and cleanliness. I would not book if I returned to the city.

Don't have any service, no breakfast, even they never did daily cleaning for my room. But the location is Extremely Great! Located at the heat of upper old town, just few steps to the Frontenac. Also surrounded by many restaurants and pubs. Not bad considering the room price. I can’t asking more.

Murs en carton, lavabo bouché, matelas très vieux avec les ressorts très bruyants au moindre mouvement, oreillers aplatis, meubles en mauvais état et une seule toilette pour l’étage. Les seules qualités de l’endroit : l’accueil, le personnel, l’air climatisé efficace et l’emplacement.

This is probably a 2 * place. But it’s supposed to be. A very unique experience similar to European hotels.I didn’t like the shared toilet & shower. Next time get a unit with a complete bathroom.

The room was small but very comfortable! I was a li'l worried about the shared restroom, but was happily surprised at how clean and available it was. All-in-all, just a lovely location within the old city. Would highly suggest a stay there!

Very old property without elevator. The narrow and crooked stairs to the 3rd floor was a bit of a challenge with our luggages. But other than that, our room was clean, big enough, comfortable bed, huge bathroom recently renovated. Loved the location, I'd go back just for that!

Chambre très petite

The location is perfect. The Château Frontenac is a less than 5 minute walk away. You can walk to all other attractions in the Old City easily from the Auberge Saint Louis. The hotel itself appears quite old. There isn’t an elevator. My room was on the second floor and I had only one piece of carry on luggage so the absence of an elevator wasn’t a big problem for me, but I imagine it could be an issue for others. The air conditioner in my room stopped working after the firs night of my stay, and it was 30-32 degrees celcius outside for 3 of the 5 days I stayed in Québec.

The hotel has such possibilities we didn't expect anything fancy with just a little bit of cleaning up and freshening up this hotel could be amazing it is so close to all the tourist areas that's why we chose it a few things they could do better First thing they should have coffee with a coffee maker that works and provide cups and utensils. We bought our own. Second thing, is they should understand how to direct people to get a bus or find the train station instead of just saying go to the tourist information desk. Third thing we asked where the closest market to buy any snacks or toothpaste and we were told around the corner. They could have simply said exit the hotel take a left then take your first left and it's one block away Overall, for the price we didn't expect much but simple little things would have made this a much better experience! Lana was great but we only met her our last night. Keep her employed.

For the most part, the hotel was fine. Given the low price, I could have forgiven the grunginess of everything over the 6-foot mark (short housekeeping staff?) if it hadn't been for the last night of our stay. That night, around 10pm, an alarm started going off in the room next to ours. I knocked on their door, but got no answer. It was loud enough that I knew I wasn't going to be able to sleep, so I tried texting the number that a hotel staff member had sent me information from the day we checked in. No response. I went out to the lobby and looked for a phone number of someone who could be contacted in emergencies, but there was nothing. I couldn't find any staff anywhere. Around 12:30am, the alarm finally went off. I had to get up at 6 the next morning so I was pretty displeased. I never received follow up about my complaints.

Durante el check-in solicite que se me diera de forma desglosada el pago que realice y se nego. Simplemente me dieron el recibo del pago de la tarjeta de credito. Asi q desconozco de cuanto fue el deposito. Pregunte y no me contesto se hacia la que no entendia. Al hacer el check-out no habia nadie en recepcion ni los dia que me hospede. Son uno expertos en ese detalle.

All the staff was wonderful. Lana was a spark of fun and knowledge. She set up a cab reservation for us to get lots of luggage to the airport. We enjoyed talking with her. She is amazing with the clientele.

Will never recommend anybody stay here. Expedia should take it off from the list of places to stay. Very unfriendly staff.

The property is in a nice location with a lot of restaurants, souvenir shops and landmarks nearby for exploring. Everything nearby is easily accessible by walking and the bus stops are nearby as well.

The property is in an ideal location if you are visiting Old Town. Walking distance to places if you want to go sight-seeing, dining or shopping

The hotel is in the heart of DT .. every touristic places to visit are in 5 to 15 mins walk.

Excellent base to explore old Quebec City on foot. Room quiet and comfortable. AC unit quiet and provided a cool oasis from summer heat. Grocery store, cafes, bike /scooter rentals and restaurants nearby. Would happily stay again and recommend to others.

Great location and value

I stayed at Auberge Saint Louis for the duration of my trip in Quebec City. This auberge is perfectly located if you are planning on doing any of the local tours as most pick up locations are within a 5-10 minute walk. There are endless choices for cafes and bistro within minutes walking. There is also an affordable epicarie (Richard's Epicarie) just around the corner for snacks and basic grocery needs. The auberge is full of charm. It is an older building but I found it easy enough to navigate. Yes the stairs are unique but common for the style of building. There are helpful railings if you feel unsteady. I would recommend requesting the lower floor rooms if you have serious mobility issues. My room was comfortable and clean. The view from my window was cute and bright looking over some beautiful architecture. The tempature was easy to adjust and there were extra blankets for warmth. The shared bathroom was very clean and the hot showers were wonderful at the end of each day. There is a kettle, microwave and fridge to use as well. All the staff were warm and welcoming. My train was extremely delayed causing me to arrive nearer to midnight. They were able to accommodate me with a lock box code for my room key to ensure I could still check in to my room after hours. I am so appreciative of this effort, it melted away all of my anxiety for such a late arrival in a new city traveling alone. I would book here again if I come back for another visit to Quebec City.

The 'free ice' was a couple of small ice trays on the top shelf of the communal fridge! And we had to request paper cups for our instant coffee. BUT the location is perfect, right on the main drag to the Chateau Frontenac. And the (paid) parking is just across the street. I would stay there again for the convenience.

Great location and memorable stay! I stayed here for a few nights and really enjoyed my time. The best part was the location — it’s within walking distance to all the major attractions in Old Quebec, which made exploring the city so easy. The price was reasonable, and even though my room didn’t have a private bathroom, using the shared facilities was never a problem. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, so meals were convenient. The room only had cups, so I often got takeout, but I found it helpful that the first-floor lounge had a microwave, electric kettle, and a fridge — something future guests might appreciate. If I had to mention a downside, the window didn’t open for ventilation, which would’ve been nice. Also, if you’re expecting hotel-level cleanliness, you might find it a bit basic. But overall, I had a wonderful time and made some great memories during my stay!

This was an amazing property, right in the heart of the city. I loved the character of the building. My room was very clean and up-to-date. The shared washrooms were also very clean. It was quiet and I barely saw or heard the other occupants of the hostel. The staff were very helpful. There is a little epicerie around the corner where you can buy snacks and beer. There is a shared fridge on the ground floor that was clean and I found that very handy. There were lots of nice restaurants nearby too, though I'm on a budget so I didn't eat at them. It was really near the Convention Centre (I was there as a delegate at the Conservative Party Convention and it was just a few blocks to get there). Also, it was right near tourist attractions in old Quebec. I totally recommend it! The only potential drawback might be the stairs. I was four floors up and it didn't bother me any, but older people or people with mobility issues may want to request the first floor.

We stayed here for our whole trip to Quebec City and the location in the old city is great. While there's no tea/coffee/breakfast, there was a small shop (Epicerie Richard) around the corner that sold coffee, snacks, etc. with better prices than the IGA by the train station. Our room was clean and looked newly renovated. While we were there, they were renovating and repainting, but it was never a problem or noisy. They offer housekeeping on-demand and provided secure wifi/towels/linens/toiletries. The front desk's hours are limited, but they allow late checkins so long as you call ahead to have your key left in a lockbox at the front.

Prijs/kwaliteit verhouding klopt niet helemaal. Vrij oud gebouw met bedrading overal langs de muren en plinten. Bij receptie alleen koffie te krijgen, geen mogelijkheden op de kamer. Thee was niet verkrijgbaar. Locatie prima, op loopafstand van de oude stad.

Property ok as it’s in a great location. As there are not coffee/tea making facilities in the room they need to make sure there is sufficient supply of coffee, coffee filters, creams, tea, cups etc for the guest to have a drink in the small foyer area.
