the pool was freezing and hot tub not working. breakfast was ok after having to wait for food don't think they realized we wound all beleaving early for the rabbit show. Room was clean but having touble with elevator need to be tripped to work/

Hot tub was green slime so thick it looked like flooring. Elevator was sketchy and was inspected last in 2017... so we had to use stairs to 3rd floor every time just to feel safe. Deadbolt did not line up so we could not lock our room. Final night there a guest was banging doors for hours and acting up. I understand this isn't hotels fault, but not being able to lock our door became scary when that was happening. The room itself appeared clean and staff was always nice.

Staff was nice. Housekeeping staff were awesome. The room was fine. Most amenities were locked up though. Game room was locked. Exercise room was locked. Breakfast area was locked at 10am. Continental breakfast was okay. I think they were short on staff and locked things up to compensate. Understandable but still a bit off-putting.

Less then impressed, had to track someone down at check in because he was hiding out back, then he recommended 3 resteraunts that happened to be closed, then going up to room smelled like terrible burning candles. It made us all queezy. Later on we went to see the bar, pool and game room. Bar was closed, the game room was closed down, the hot tub was broken, the babies pool was freezing cold, enough my toddler could not go in. Had to chase the front desk guy down again because there was no stocked towels. The room was dark and dingy. Do not recommend this hotel. We should have been warned at checkin or before when they closed down half the amenities they have. Part of the reason we booked was because of the hot tub, game room and bar.

The gentleman checking us in was plesant, but that was the only person we saw, even at breakfast there was no one. We went swimming, the pool was warm and clean. Hot tub was out of service. The breakfast on the "warmer" was cold. It was sausages that looked like they had been sitting there for 5 days. The toaster had no knobs, so that narrowed our breakfast choices real quick. Beds were not comfortable but not horrible either. All around it was ok for a quick stay, I would not stay for longer than a night.

The elevator didn't work all the time. Saw many families having to carry their stuff from the 3rd. floor to their cars. Power to some rooms went out several times on the 3rd. floor that effected several rooms. Breakfast was so-so.

If you like pee stained mattresses and mattress protectors, hair in your bed, broken down dirty hot tubs, xxxxs pool towels, and a pretend game room...this is the hotel for you. Would've left but it was already too late for my kid. Wouldn't recommend booking here.

Overall a good stay for a quick trip to Maquoketa Caves State Park, it's only 10-12 mins from the park. Sheets were clean and smelled good. A/C and room had slight mildew smell. Lot of choices for breakfast, coffee was good. Loud motorcycles outside our window at 5am for 30 mins were annoying. I'd give a grade of B.

Mediocre at best. So…..if your bar is not high, you’ll be fine. Bed is super comfortable. Window is rough, standard def TV, clean bathroom. Nice zero entry pool is a great thing for the littles. Hot tub is a Petrie dish of algae….clearly out of service. Breakfast…..meh.

Been staying at this hotel every year since it first opened. Always adequate for my family-needs. Just find the price of the rooms to be hyper-inflated for my birth town of Maquoketa, Iowa! $170.00 a night including tax for one person, in Maquoketa?? Having stayed in hotels literally in most major cities in the US, and in Europe over 25 years, this price for this chain hotel was just silly. Don’t even have a full-time person at the front desk! He was nice and helpful when one could find him, but he had so many tasks going on. My yearly family reunion is held at the fairgrounds. The hotel is well-located for sure. The pool is surely a draw for families with children! My bathroom was very nice, as I need the grab bars. Thanks for that!! Please expand breakfast a little. Biscuits and gravy is not healthy!! How about scrambled eggs? Protein is good! Thank you for oatmeal packets, bananas, and yogurt. Coffe was excellent. My comments reflect discussion of AmericInn at my reunion with several people who are now going to the Econolodge, which is nicely updated and has a fabulous breakfast for guests.

Enjoyed the comfort, size, feel and atomsphere The one thing that needs improvement was service. When we arrived it was almost ten minutes before someone was at the desk to check us in. Employees were not readily available if we needed to ask a question. All that aside, would definently stay there again.

Overall a good stay for a quick trip to Maquoketa Caves State Park, it's only 10-12 mins from the park. Sheets were clean and smelled good. A/C and room had slight mildew smell. Lot of choices for breakfast, coffee was good. Loud motorcycles outside our window at 5am for 30 mins were annoying. I'd give a grade of B.

Not bad for a quick stay. Close to the Maquoketa caves. Breakfast was the usual. Carpets appear to be clean but a poor choice in pattern as it gives the illusion it is dirty. Overall good stay

At check in only one towel was located in the room, noticeable food crumbs on the tv stand and table. Breakfast had only carbohydrate options. Several containers were empty and not refilled. No towels in pool area.

The gentleman checking us in was plesant, but that was the only person we saw, even at breakfast there was no one. We went swimming, the pool was warm and clean. Hot tub was out of service. The breakfast on the "warmer" was cold. It was sausages that looked like they had been sitting there for 5 days. The toaster had no knobs, so that narrowed our breakfast choices real quick. Beds were not comfortable but not horrible either. All around it was ok for a quick stay, I would not stay for longer than a night.

The pool was closed which was never told to us or we wouldnt of stayed there!!! The breakfast was cold and half of it wasnt even there at 7 a.m. the biscuits and gravy was absolutely terrible. The room was dirty and smelled terrible

The staff was very helpful on check in. Check out was just a key drop. The room and bathroom were clean and average size. The thing that needs work is the landscaping. It needed mowed and there were weeds growing all around the curbing and taller than the curbing.

Where to start. The toilet was leaking out the bottom in the bathroom. The shower curtain was hanging down so low that it hit my head on the way in.. The hot tub was dirty. When we first ran soap into it. It had dirt bubbles rising to the top. After cleaning it with some soap that we bought a cleared up. Then the cold water on the hot tub was leaking out water to the outside of the hot tub. We try to go down to the pool the pool smelled horrible and was filthy. The curtains are rolled down curtains and allowed light to come in through the sides. So it's hard to sleep because you could see the outside light. Upon checkout there was no carts in the lobby. For a room that was fairly expensive. In an area that was secluded it was not a great experience.
