Our room was self contained and part of an annexe close to the inn. Therefore we enjoyed privacy as well as easy access to food and drink. Our evening meal was of very good quality, as were the ales. A full breakfast was included, and yes, it did set us up for the day. We walked off the effects of the car journey by going on the Cleveland Way, with dramatic views of the sea. Scarborough was a mixed bag, but well worth a visit. The Golden Grid restaurant did not disappoint. Our room was comfortable and well equipped, and everyone at the inn friendly and helpful

Stayed in a ‘cottage’ by the car park which was very good. Parking spaces were plenty and afforded easy access to the room. Comfortable bar/lounge and restaurant area that served an excellent breakfast.

Very nice friendly hotel, good breakfast each morning, also used the restaurant each evening, and excellent menu choices, reasonable priced, we really enjoyed all meals we had. Bedroom, room 4 at front of hotel, was clean bright, and clean, with plenty of drawers large wardrobe, with ensuite. Slight noise from main road but window had double glazing. Plenty free parking in car park at rear of hotel, we did not use our car for the three day stay, as bus stop right outside hotel in both directions for Scarborough 10min and Whity 20 min straight fair of £2 each way, so no parking costs which are expensive at £4.40 for two hours. Would definitely recommend staying here if on the area.

Fantastic overnight stay at Blacksmiths Arms Inn. Large car park , lovely bar and dining area and superb staff. Was made to feel at home from the minute we arrived until we checked out. Room was of good quality and the food at dinner and breakfast was great. All staff were chatty as were the locals in the bar area. Definitely will stay again if in the area in future.

A great short break of 3 nights at the Blacksmiths Arms. Spotlessly clean rooms, excellent food and friendly staff, which can't be said for all accommodation. The only small negative was the road noise at night but if your room is at the back of the building it should be fine. However, this didn't spoil our stay. Hopefully, we will visit again.

Hosts could not have been any more friendly and helpful. Room & towels etc were clean. Dinner and breakfast was good and fairly priced. Parts of the room are starting to show their age but Notting that put me off. I would definitely use again. Thanks for a comfortable and convenient stay.

Friendly staff, delicious food and breakfast. Comfortable bed, hot shower with plenty of fresh towels and immaculately clean room. Great location as only half an hour from Whitby. Stayed here twice now and would definitely stay again.

The food was excellent especially the full English breakfast, superb. Our room ( 11 ) was poor, cramped, with only room for a 4’ 6” bed of poor quality. It had old fashioned furniture and very little floor area. It had long standing cobwebs above eye level.

The hotel is absolutely wonderful, we had a lovely welcome, the room is so beautiful, spotless and clean. We loved the four poster bed and the spaciousness of the rooms. We would definitely recommend it.

The room was very clean with a comfortable bed and all the amenities needed. Breakfast was delicious and staff were welcoming friendly and helpful. Ideal location for beach and country walks. Would definitely stay again.

Really nice place to stay. Comfortable bed and nice and clean. Some aspects of the decor were a little dated but it didn't affect anything. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The food was good but a little more variety of choice both in the breakfast and evening menu's would have been nice. Overall though, no complaints.

Our second visit to the Blacksmiths Arms. Stayed in room 11 which was one of the little cottages at the rear of the property. Very comfortable room with full length shower in the bathroom. The food was outstanding with a good breakfast selection and delicious evening meals. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There is a bus stop on the main road every half hour to Whitby (via Robin Hood’s bay) and Scarborough in the opposite direction so we were able to leave the car and travel by bus. Would definitely stay again.

Very nice room. Comfy bed. TV reception not great but weather was poor so could be the reason. Room was cold but on searching found a heater in the wardrobe. Lovely staff and great food in the evening. Good breakfast and they accommodated us for an early breakfast as we had a 6 hour drive home and wanted to leave early.

Very lovely pub, lots of character and charm, great welcoming staff, easy parking , good breakfast. Issue's was a bit noisy in room 3 in the morning ( cleaning, staff, emptying bottles ) and the saniflow system in the bathroom gets annoying after a while. Stayed for 3 nts and over all very good.

Stayed in room 8 which was not in the main house but in a building behind next to the car park. The room was small but clean with comfortable beds. The wifi was very poor. We couldn't connect to our room wifi so the landlord gave us the password for the room next door. This cut out every evening which was frustrating. Breakfast was a choice of full English, cereals and yogurt with tea/coffee/juice.

A traditional pub with rooms-fabulous food,all the staff are really friendly and welcoming. The room was a decent size with a small but adequate bathroom. Furnished in keeping with the age and style of an old pub but all very clean. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have a larger and more comfortable bed. Breakfast cooked to order which was delicious. Free parking. Bus stop outside to go to either Whitby or Scarborough for £2! Cheaper than town centre parking. The B & B rate is great value for money. I would have no hesitation in returning or recommending.

We stayed for 3 nights in room 9 which is a ground floor room at the rear of the property, next to the car park. The room consisted of a lobby area with a bathroom and bedroom off the lobby. The room was very comfortable, clean and tidy and met our needs as my husband has mobility problems and cannot manage stairs. We booked bed and breakfast but also dined in every evening. The food was outstanding and the staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The inside of the inn is very characteristic and well presented. There are bus stops close by with a service to both Whitby and Scarborough every 30 minutes which meant we didn’t have to use the car. Found this by chance but would definitely stay again.

Weekend break. This seemed the perfect location from all three main destinations + no issues or hassle with parking. Service was excellent, from bar to breakfast. Don't eat here apart from breakfast which was better than most. Really nice! Room a little dated, but clean and perfect for what we needed it for.

Room was cold, wardrobe door didn’t close, one waitress was unco-operative when I requested cheese and biscuits instead of dessert then later served them to the next table. When my husband quietly questioned her about this in the bar when paying the bill, she denied knowing anything about it. We stayed there before COVID for several days and enjoyed our visit but now would neither return nor recommend it to others The food was good and breakfast staff excellent. Pity about the evening!
Room was cold, wardrobe door didn’t close, one waitress was unco-operative when I requested cheese and biscuits instead of dessert then later served them to the next table. When my husband quietly questioned her about this in the bar when paying the bill, she denied knowing anything about it. We stayed there before COVID for several days and enjoyed our visit but now would neither return nor recommend it to others The food was good and breakfast staff excellent. Pity about the evening!

Very nice room. Comfy bed. TV reception not great but weather was poor so could be the reason. Room was cold but on searching found a heater in the wardrobe. Lovely staff and great food in the evening. Good breakfast and they accommodated us for an early breakfast as we had a 6 hour drive home and wanted to leave early.

Extremely welcoming and friendly owners and staff. Great parking. Lovely rooms, clean, very comfy bed with good bedding and pillows. Great breakfast and food in the evening was excellent. Good choice of beers and wine. Not often I say this, but we couldn't fault anything!

Fantastic overnight stay at Blacksmiths Arms Inn. Large car park , lovely bar and dining area and superb staff. Was made to feel at home from the minute we arrived until we checked out. Room was of good quality and the food at dinner and breakfast was great. All staff were chatty as were the locals in the bar area. Definitely will stay again if in the area in future.

Friendly staff, delicious food and breakfast. Comfortable bed, hot shower with plenty of fresh towels and immaculately clean room. Great location as only half an hour from Whitby. Stayed here twice now and would definitely stay again.

Our second visit to the Blacksmiths Arms. Stayed in room 11 which was one of the little cottages at the rear of the property. Very comfortable room with full length shower in the bathroom. The food was outstanding with a good breakfast selection and delicious evening meals. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There is a bus stop on the main road every half hour to Whitby (via Robin Hood’s bay) and Scarborough in the opposite direction so we were able to leave the car and travel by bus. Would definitely stay again.

This is such a lovely little find. A great village pub with character. Close to the coast for the Cleveland Way or the Cinder Track cycle way. Close to Scarborough, Ravenscar and Whitby. The North Yorkshire Moors national park is right on the doorstep so the perfect spot if you want to spend time hiking, cycling or exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire. The staff are superb and cant do enough for you. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. We have stayed before and will be back.

Perfect location just outside Scarborough perfect for the outside concerts. Just 5-10mins drive. We had one of the outside little rooms at the back of pub with double bed and ensuite. 2 nights there and loved the pub the staff and food. Great location for Whitby, Robin Hood bay and Scarborough all in less than 30min drive.

Really nice place to stay. Comfortable bed and nice and clean. Some aspects of the decor were a little dated but it didn't affect anything. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The food was good but a little more variety of choice both in the breakfast and evening menu's would have been nice. Overall though, no complaints.

Very nice friendly hotel, good breakfast each morning, also used the restaurant each evening, and excellent menu choices, reasonable priced, we really enjoyed all meals we had. Bedroom, room 4 at front of hotel, was clean bright, and clean, with plenty of drawers large wardrobe, with ensuite. Slight noise from main road but window had double glazing. Plenty free parking in car park at rear of hotel, we did not use our car for the three day stay, as bus stop right outside hotel in both directions for Scarborough 10min and Whity 20 min straight fair of £2 each way, so no parking costs which are expensive at £4.40 for two hours. Would definitely recommend staying here if on the area.

Rooms were clean and comfortable but super hot, even with fully opened windows. There’s a radiator in the wardrobe but no fans. The heat was the same throughout the building, noted by other guests in the breakfast room. There’s a sign in the bathroom re. lack of water pressure due to “age & layout” of the property. There must be something that could be done to improve that. After a very warm night’s sleep a trickle of water in the shower was not what was needed. Breakfast was average with brusque service. Bacon burnt and tomato ketchup that I have tasted nothing like before (and mot in a good way)

Liked property in general and had superior room spoiled by antiquated shower which was very difficult to control. Food at dinner was excellent but breakfast spoiled by unavailability of marmalade, a basic requirement for such a meal, although i assume this was an oversight in stocking and not a common occurrence

Everything about our stay was perfect, the food is excellent the room was spacious and well equipped and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. Their Timothy Taylor’s bitter cannot be bettered- the best we’ve ever had! Thank you for having us, we hope to return.

Good pub located in a small town not too far from Scarborough. We had an upstairs room - very steep stairs! Room was good, but shower diffucult to operate at a steady temperature. Food in the restaueant was good. Lots of on site free parking
