Volcano Rainforest Lodge was the best! We got in after 5pm, loaded in and was so happy to have a cup of tea and relax in the hot tub under a peaceful starry sky. This hale is simply perfect for a retreat, and gathering place where we ate made lei, relaxed in the house and outside on the huge porch. Every space was perfect. The rooms were gorgeous with amazing showers and easy access to the outdoors. As we prepared to share our hula my students were able to gather with me to create their lei and oractice our hula for Pele at the volcano hula pa. Everythig was perfect here...we even got to bird watch from the porch. Mahalo nui e Rain Forest Lodge Hale. We'll see you again🌸❤

Our party of 5 adults enjoyed a relaxing and comfortable weekend at this beautiful; spacious, yet cozy; well stocked Lodge. It’s good to note that the driveway is one way, but narrow in some areas. Our large SUV fit, but we had to proceed carefully. The owners, Rob and Jennifer, as well as the manager, Sharon (Rob’s Mom who lives next door), are friendly, easy to communicate with and gave us helpful information to make our stay stress free. We want to go back with our kids and grandkids!

The photos don’t do justice to this beautiful house and property, located in a magical and private rainforest. The huge wraparound lanai, hot tub, and big fireplace really make for a special getaway. I could easily have spent a week or more. The kitchen is well stocked and spacious. There’s a beautiful dining room and Keurig coffee station. It’s an ideal space to have a private chef make a special dinner. The cots and pack n play are perfect for young children. Contactless check-in was seamless, and communication with the property manager was timely and efficient. Good wifi and streaming services are provided. Short drive to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The only downside is check out at 10am is early, especially given the relatively late 4pm checkin. The property manager and cleaning crew were actually at the door before 10am and were rude about it even though we were just loading up and checking around to make sure we didn’t leave anything and we welcomed them in to get started, there were snarky comments made. It was kind of a bummer after such a nice stay. Aside from that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the property, we’ve stayed at a lot of places in Volcano over the years and this was by far the most beautiful.

This property was spectacular! We loved every second of it! We were sad to leave! The home was gorgeous, private, cozy, lush and stocked with games, coffee, tea, soft bedding and a real wood burning fireplace. The private gate made us feel safe and secure in the remote location. The hot tub under the stars in the rain was wonderful as well. We spent every morning and evening on the lanai listening to the soothing sound of the frogs chirping and the light rain falling. It was exquisite. I cannot say enough good things about this property. We are already planning a trip back!!!

We loved staying at the lodge! Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. The house was absolutely gorgeous and we loved relaxing out on the porch and listening to nature. The beds were very comfy and the bathrooms were so gorgeous. We enjoyed cooking in the fully stocked kitchen and playing board games around the fire. The hot tub was a nice treat as well!

Beautiful home and property and wraparound porch. Even with rotten weather, we felt we had the perfect vantage point for experiencing the rainforest. Huge windows but lots of privacy in this secluded location. Minutes to Volcanoes National Park, great food trucks, and the top rated coffee shop in all of Hawaii.

We were two couples staying for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. We explored the region everyday, cooked our meals in the well-equipped kitchen and on the BBQ, and soaked in the hottub under the stars. It was perfect for relaxing and as a homebase. We definitely recommend it!!

Although we did end up doing more driving than preferred, this home is a beautiful spot to base one's explorations of Volcanoes Nat'l Park & Hilo from. Also enjoyed the restaurants and farmers markets in the area. The house itself is taken care of splendidly with beautiful grounds and the added touch of a private hot tub. Remember to bring clothing for cold weather since it is rather cold in the AM and if you decide to explore Mauna Kea (sunset!) as we did. One note: the house is on a country dirt road which any 2WD vehicle can handle, but it is good to know. The bedrooms/bathrooms/living spaces are large and comfortable with ample room for 6 guests and we were only four! Already missing being there at this lovely house.

This home is absolutely stunning with all the amenities you need for your vacation. It was clean, comfortable and so peaceful. Rob & Sharon were responsive and available to answer questions. We couldn’t have been happier at this beautiful estate and would highly recommend it!

We appreciated the fresh air and the elevation and the gorgeous landscaping. We could open windows and turn on fans and be comfortable inside. This was so nice, having just spent four nights on the Kohala Coast where it was hot and AC was constantly humming. No AC hum here, lots of Coqui serenades though. My middle daughter spent a lot of time exploring the beautiful property, my youngest enjoyed spending time with her grandma on the lanai, my oldest appreciated the smart TV in the bedroom, a luxury he doesn't have at home. There were tears when it was time to pack and leave, thats how much they loved the property. I appreciated that it was very clean. The bedrooms were a little musty smelling but that was easily remedied by opening windows and turning on fans. We stayed here to be close to VNP. We took advantage of the proximity and made 3 daytrips into the park and had ample rest time too. We visited the little playground at the Cooper Center too. Such a serene corner of paradise.

This property is absolutely beautiful! It is well-supplied and very well-maintained. It was immaculately clean and had everything we needed and more. The property manager was very prompt in response to the few questions that we had. I would definitely stay here again and suggest it to my friends and family.

Easy check-in, good directions and beautifully clean. Easily most beautiful home and setting of any place we stayed. Great communication from the beginning includkng when we needed to move our stay a day later. Helpful guide book, games for kids and beautiful outdoor setting. Unfortunately didn't get to the hot tub as rainy in evenings, but sti enjoyed the outdoor space. Excellent experience.

This is exactly what we were looking for on our trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It was only 10 minutes from the park. The place was easy to find, even in the dark. The house is magnificent. Everything was in great condition, clearly well maintained and clean. Above all else, the host was fantastic. She provided very clear instructions and was available to help with any questions. She also went above and beyond and messaged to let us know that an eruption was happening in the park! We were able to head right over and got to observe a natural phenomenon that is unbelievable to see. We probably would have missed it if not for the notification from the host. We are so glad we stayed here and cannot recommend it highly enough. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet stay by the park, you found it!

We absolutely loved the privacy of this location. We had our own personal rain forest right outside on our lanai. The house was incredibly clean and comfortable and very close the Volcano National Park, which we visited on our trip.

We enjoyed our stay and the location so close to the national park was perfect. The property is private and peaceful. The house is large and was nice to spread out. The decks are gorgeous. Kitchen is well stocked. Only negatives are the house smells musty and we had to keep windows and doors open to air it out during the whole stay. Check in details were a bit confusing as most messages said a host would meet us on the property to check in. Another message gave the lockbox code. I texted the property manager the morning before check in to clarify and confirm and give our arrival time, and never received a response.

Gorgeous secluded setting. Beautiful home close to the park. Damp odor could potentially be combatted with a dehumidifier, and a better cleaning would help with the spider problem under the Keurig. The instructions for renters could also be updated to be accurate.

My wife and I brought additional family this time after our first visit in October 2022. The rest of the family was as impressed as we were. This is our first choice for staying near the National Park. It's super clean, private, with a lanai that almost wraps around the house completely.

This house deserves more stars than 5. The one category that I rated 4 stars was website accuracy because the photos don’t do it justice, from the house itself to the magnificent views from inside each window. Our family group consisted of a five year old, his parents and one set of grandparents and each of us loved this place. We appreciated the cleanliness, comfort and beauty of the setting. There is a lovely wraparound porch and, as the description says, each bedroom has its own bathroom. Beds are comfy and bedding provides warmth for the cold nights. The managers are always accessible and provided immediate help with a couple of issues. The first was with the WiFi, which once reset properly worked great. The second was the water heater which gave up the ghost our last full day. Water heaters don’t last forever and we just happened to be there when this one gave out so we had no hot water for showers or dishwashing that day. We very much appreciate the way this was handled by the managers and owners. I should also note that we discovered that at least two of the bathrooms have on-demand water heaters under the sinks so there was still access to some hot water. There is a lot to see on the big island and we plan to be back. We hope to be able to stay in this house again next time we visit.

This home is just beautiful - inside and out. It’s tucked away in a literal rainforest with beautiful plants and flowers all around. A great wrap around patio let’s you see everything! It’s a massive home with tons of space. Each bedroom had its own dedicated bathroom. Volcano national park is literally 10 minutes away. Little touches helped a ton like having swim towels, beach chairs and boogie boards was just one less thing we needed to figure out. It fit 4 adults and 3 kids with room to spare. Overall a great home in a great location!

We thoroughly enjoyed the design and spaciousness of this lovely home! Listening to the night sounds of the "jungle" while walking around on the wrap around deck was awesome. Sipping my coffee in the dining room in the morning listening to the sound of silence recharged my soul! It was a great location to stay to enjoy Volcano National Park.

The Volcano Rainforest Estate is an awesome property. The home is very comfortable and is perfect for family or a group of friends. The design and layout is excellent. Highlights include the large dining room separate bathrooms for each bedroom and the wrap around lanai. We enjoyed our evenings listening to the sounds of the rainforest. Truly peaceful. The location is great for accessing the National Park and Hilo area. Jenny and team are outstanding hosts. Their communication was excellent starting with the reservation process through checkout. We would stay again if in the area.

Gorgeous property and home. Location is perfect for exploring the volcano and a short drive into Hilo. The property is breath taking! We sat on the back porch every night listening to the frogs that sound like birds chirping. The home is very roomy. Every bedroom has their own bathroom. Communication with management was quick and easy. I will recommend this property to everyone that is going to the Big Island. Absolutely 10/10!!

Beautiful property in a quiet setting. The living spaces were clean and nicely furnished with comfortable couches and beds. There were six adults and there was plenty of space for everyone.

Loved this beautiful, handcrafted home tucked into an amazing rainforest. Loads of space for 4 adults and 2 children. Sitting outside listening to the night sounds of the rainforest was unforgettable. This house has lots of interesting artwork—so I will say that if you have an inquisitive 4-year-old in your group, you will have to keep vigilant watch!! Getting to the national park and Hilo was easy.

Driving into the short private drive up to the house was like driving onto the set of Indian Jones or Jurassic Park without the dinosaurs. Pulling up to the house itself revealed a gorgeous well furnished home with attention to details. Tropical woods throughout, and well equipped modern kitchen, and three large bedrooms each with an on sweat bathroom. Huge picture windows look onto a beautifully landscaped tropical garden. Everything you see on VRBO is what you see in person. We enjoyed dipping in the hot tub each evening and morning before setting off on our daily adventures. The town of Hilo is about a 30 minute drive away and local dining options in Volcano are few, but on the plus side you are just minutes away from the Volcano National Park. That is the only minor draw back to this location.

It's an extremely comfortable, well-crafted, and well-furnished house in a private location. It's obviously a great location from which to explore Volcanos National Park, but one can also make day trips north to Rainbow and Akaka falls, or south to Punaluʻu Beach and South Point. Our extended family of 6 adults had a fantastic time. Easy to recommend.

This home is absolutely stunning with all the amenities you need for your vacation. It was clean, comfortable and so peaceful. Rob & Sharon were responsive and available to answer questions. We couldn’t have been happier at this beautiful estate and would highly recommend it!

The photos don’t do justice to this beautiful house and property, located in a magical and private rainforest. The huge wraparound lanai, hot tub, and big fireplace really make for a special getaway. I could easily have spent a week or more. The kitchen is well stocked and spacious. There’s a beautiful dining room and Keurig coffee station. It’s an ideal space to have a private chef make a special dinner. The cots and pack n play are perfect for young children. Contactless check-in was seamless, and communication with the property manager was timely and efficient. Good wifi and streaming services are provided. Short drive to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The only downside is check out at 10am is early, especially given the relatively late 4pm checkin. The property manager and cleaning crew were actually at the door before 10am and were rude about it even though we were just loading up and checking around to make sure we didn’t leave anything and we welcomed them in to get started, there were snarky comments made. It was kind of a bummer after such a nice stay. Aside from that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the property, we’ve stayed at a lot of places in Volcano over the years and this was by far the most beautiful.

Unfortunately didn't get to the hot tub as rainy in evenings, but sti enjoyed the outdoor space. Excellent experience.

My husband, infant daughter, two friends and I stayed here while exploring Volcanos NP and it was lovely. Jenny communicated clearly and checkin/checkout was quick and easy. Property was beautiful and had everything you could need. They even had the pack and play set up for us knowing that my daughter was coming. Definitely would stay here again!

This is exactly what we were looking for on our trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It was only 10 minutes from the park. The place was easy to find, even in the dark. The house is magnificent. Everything was in great condition, clearly well maintained and clean. Above all else, the host was fantastic. She provided very clear instructions and was available to help with any questions. She also went above and beyond and messaged to let us know that an eruption was happening in the park! We were able to head right over and got to observe a natural phenomenon that is unbelievable to see. We probably would have missed it if not for the notification from the host. We are so glad we stayed here and cannot recommend it highly enough. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet stay by the park, you found it!

We enjoyed our stay and the location so close to the national park was perfect. The property is private and peaceful. The house is large and was nice to spread out. The decks are gorgeous. Kitchen is well stocked. Only negatives are the house smells musty and we had to keep windows and doors open to air it out during the whole stay. Check in details were a bit confusing as most messages said a host would meet us on the property to check in. Another message gave the lockbox code. I texted the property manager the morning before check in to clarify and confirm and give our arrival time, and never received a response.

My family stayed here in late May. Communication with the owners/managers prior to coming was excellent and the directions for check in were easy to follow. The house is pretty secluded. You won’t see our hear anyone else. The only sounds are of nature. We enjoyed sitting on the large deck in the evening to listen to the frogs. Every morning the Hawaiian pheasant would visit us while we drank our coffee. The grounds are beautiful with lots on flowers and tropical plants. The outdoor hot tub was great after a long day. The house was just as expected. It’s beautiful. There was plenty of room for everyone. The house is really close to the entrance to Volcanoes National Park making it an ideal base for exploring that area. Overall we were very happy and would highly recommend it.

I can't say enough great things about our stay. Beautiful house very clean and TV's in every room. The whole family thought we should have spent more time here. By far, this was the best home we ever stayed in. Coffee was ready to go when we arrived. I think the best thing I can say the host and Jennifer and Sharon on site manager communicated with us quickly prior to our arrival and met our needs when we arrived. Sharon was a sweet heart who guided us to the site and was very informative and treated us like family soon to arrive. Don't waste your time staying any where else on your next trip to the big island. This felt like our home away from home. Thank you Jennifer and Sharon for your kindness and letting us stay in your home. Absolutely perfect.

April 2024 - Family of 4 adults - 3 night stay - This stay was the second half of a one week vacation in Hawaii. First four days were in busy and exciting Honolulu. This location was a nice period of relaxation before heading back to our daily lives. The location is a little remote, with a 30 minute drive to civilization. Close to the volcano national park and an 90 minute drive to 9,000 foot overlook. We visited in the shoulder season so it was a little cool in the mornings. The fireplace was a nice place to huddle while warming the house up. Rainy days were nice to watch and enjoy from the patios. The jungle like setting was very serene. Hosts communicated well prior to arrival and thankfully we had no reason to contact them during our stay. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks

We had an amazing time at the Volcano lodge. The house is spacious and well-equipped. We cooked and had family meals for our 3-generation trip. But more unique, the home is super private and serene. Every room looks out on greenery and we loved sitting on the wrap-around porch. At night, we could hear the chirping of the coqui frogs. You are very near the national park, and less than an hour from Hilo to the East and green sand and black sand beaches to the West. Only word of caution is that the town of Volcano itself is very small. There are a couple of places to eat and a very small store, but choice is very limited so best to plan ahead. We had a wonderful meal at the Kailua Lodge nearby.

Perfect house for our trip to the east side of the island to see Volcanoes NP. The house is GORGEOUS and secluded. Loved hanging out on the wrap around porch surrounded by the rainforest. Less than 15 minutes to the entrance of the national park. Great communication and cleanliness. Would rent again if going back to this area!

The house is a beautiful design and craftsmanship. It is very private and secluded. It feels like you are the only house for miles. Location is super convenient for getting to Volcano National Park (5 mins) and Hilo (30 mins). We would stay here again.

This property was beautiful and carefully maintained. My only complaint would be that the driveway was difficult to navigate in the dark. Even so, we all loved it. Very close to the national park. We entered the park multiple times as it was so convenient.

This home and property looks even better in person than it does in photos. It is so close to Volcano National park (5 miles), but also close enough to other great areas like the black sand beach. The beds, pillows, towels were all top quality and comfortable. There was excellent communication with the owner before and during our stay. Truly a VRBO gem.

We had an amazing time at the Volcano lodge. The house is spacious and well-equipped. We cooked and had family meals for our 3-generation trip. But more unique, the home is super private and serene. Every room looks out on greenery and we loved sitting on the wrap-around porch. At night, we could hear the chirping of the coqui frogs. You are very near the national park, and less than an hour from Hilo to the East and green sand and black sand beaches to the West. Only word of caution is that the town of Volcano itself is very small. There are a couple of places to eat and a very small store, but choice is very limited so best to plan ahead. We had a wonderful meal at the Kailua Lodge nearby.

We loved staying at the lodge! Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. The house was absolutely gorgeous and we loved relaxing out on the porch and listening to nature. The beds were very comfy and the bathrooms were so gorgeous. We enjoyed cooking in the fully stocked kitchen and playing board games around the fire. The hot tub was a nice treat as well!

We loved our stay at the Volcano Rainforest Estate. We stayed with our adult children who live on the opposite coast from us in the U. S. It was so good to spend time with them sitting on the lanai and catching up. We have food sensitivities, so eating out can be tricky. We were able to prepare meals in the beautiful, well-stocked kitchen, and sit down and enjoy our meals at the lovely live edge, wood dining table in the dining room that had windows overlooking the rainforest. It was wonderful going to sleep listening to the sounds of the forest in the comfortable beds. We slept exceptionally well, something that does not usually happen when traveling. This is our fourth trip to the Island and our fist stay in this home. This will not be our last trip here, and we hope to return to this property again.

The Volcano Rainforest Estate is an awesome property. The home is very comfortable and is perfect for family or a group of friends. The design and layout is excellent. Highlights include the large dining room separate bathrooms for each bedroom and the wrap around lanai. We enjoyed our evenings listening to the sounds of the rainforest. Truly peaceful. The location is great for accessing the National Park and Hilo area. Jenny and team are outstanding hosts. Their communication was excellent starting with the reservation process through checkout. We would stay again if in the area.

Gorgeous property and home. Location is perfect for exploring the volcano and a short drive into Hilo. The property is breath taking! We sat on the back porch every night listening to the frogs that sound like birds chirping. The home is very roomy. Every bedroom has their own bathroom. Communication with management was quick and easy. I will recommend this property to everyone that is going to the Big Island. Absolutely 10/10!!

Property is gorgeous inside and outside. Everything worked, but only used the fireplace once. It was nice to have condiments, spices and other cooking items to use for dinners we prepared while staying at the property. Thank you

Property was beautiful, secured, clean and cozy. Rob provided clear instructions during the check in process. It is in a relatively remote location, but if you’re going somewhere to relax and enjoy time with friends or family in a beautiful home, this is the place. Recommend stocking up in Hilo before making the trip up (about a half hour away).

Driving into the short private drive up to the house was like driving onto the set of Indian Jones or Jurassic Park without the dinosaurs. Pulling up to the house itself revealed a gorgeous well furnished home with attention to details. Tropical woods throughout, and well equipped modern kitchen, and three large bedrooms each with an on sweat bathroom. Huge picture windows look onto a beautifully landscaped tropical garden. Everything you see on VRBO is what you see in person. We enjoyed dipping in the hot tub each evening and morning before setting off on our daily adventures. The town of Hilo is about a 30 minute drive away and local dining options in Volcano are few, but on the plus side you are just minutes away from the Volcano National Park. That is the only minor draw back to this location.

We were two couples staying for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. We explored the region everyday, cooked our meals in the well-equipped kitchen and on the BBQ, and soaked in the hottub under the stars. It was perfect for relaxing and as a homebase. We definitely recommend it!!

This is a great vacation home with all the amenities you need for your stay. It is exactly as described, but the images don't really do it justice - the rooms are larger and more spacious than they appear in the photos. It's an extremely comfortable, well-crafted, and well-furnished house in a private location. It's obviously a great location from which to explore Volcanos National Park, but one can also make day trips north to Rainbow and Akaka falls, or south to Punaluʻu Beach and South Point. Our extended family of 6 adults had a fantastic time. Easy to recommend.

Beautiful house in the rainforest only 10 minutes from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park. This generously sized home is comfortable and well-maintained. The grounds are stunning and large windows in every room allow guests to enjoy the views from every angle. We weren’t able to enjoy the hot tub due to weather, but enjoyed every other aspect of the property. The wrap-around lanai was terrific. The beds were comfortable and we slept really well. Quick, easy access to VNP was ideal for our stay and communication with the host was super easy before and during our stay. Would definitely recommend this rental property.

Amazing stay! So conveniently close to Kīlauea - we heard episode 50 started and we were able quickly leave and beat traffic to catch madame pele!

Really enjoyed our stay, very convenient to Volcano National park and Hilo. If you want some peace and quiet and just listen to the frogs sing at night, then this is your place. The hot tube was great after hiking and we cooked and had a family dinner at the beautiful solid wood table. It was a great two nights!

The house, furnishings and grounds are beautiful - stunning. Communication was excellent. We stay in many short-term rentals. This home was a top experience. Close to the park. Easily accessible but feeling absolutely private and peaceful.
