Located in the centre of town - a short walk from Barnard Castle itself, the magnificent Bowes Museum, local shops and bus services. Although the pub and restaurant were packed, the staff provided excellent, friendly and efficient service. Great menus for dinner and breakfast and the food itself was superb in every respect. Parking can be an issue - the hotel's own parking has very limited spaces and is some distance from the hotel itself although porterage was offered for baggage. Our room (4) was very comfortable, quiet, clean and peaceful - perhaps stronger bedside lighting for reading would have been useful. We very much enjoyed our stay and the hotel would be our first choice for our next trip to this beautiful area of Durham and Yorkshire.

Great pub, with lovely staff and delicious food. We stayed in one of the offsite rooms which was clean and comfortable, would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Very good location and parking good at the rear of the property. Room was up 2 flights of narrow stairs. Said to be an upgrade but was quite ordinary!! Facilities were ok but we were disappointed on arrival not to be advised about booking a table for dinner - when we retuned for dinner there was nothing available. Breakfast was plentiful, good choice but hot food was very over-cooked, Staff generally pleasant

Very friendly staff. Excellent service, one of the best full English breakfasts I have ever had. Great central position in Barnard Castle. Spotlessly clean. Overrall highly recommended. We stayed in the 1 bed apartment which was superb, just over the road from the pub.

Perfect refurbished Pub with rooms, we stayed in courtyard Rooms, ground Floor, immaculate, recently refurbished and up to date furnishings and bathroom. Great looking Bar Meals although we didn't have one but we did have a superb breakfast with plenty of choice from full English to every variation of eggs Benedict. Staff were super smiley and friendly from the housekeeper, Receptionist to Bar Staff Outdoor terrace front and back gorgeous and well maintained. The place had history, character and a good atmosphere. What's not to like. WE BE BACK!

This is an excellent family run hotel. The owners' care and attention to detail is apparent throughout. Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and with all the necessary facilities. The bathroom was spacious - we would have preferred a separate shower rather than climbing in and out of the bath but that is a personal preference. Breakfast was very good with a great selection of fruit, cereals etc and delicious fresh cooked hot food.

Really enjoyed out stay. Hotel food was lovely for both breakfast and dinner. We had a large room at the front of the hotel, only real issue was a bit of noise from people chatting in the street under the window as not double glazed but real issue. We would book again

Our room was very clean and comfortable. Although the stairs upto the room was quiet steep. Breakfast was very nice. We ate there on our last night and would recommend the lamb. It was beautiful.

I had a ground floor room that was a good size with en-suite facilities. The room was serviced and the towels changed every day. There was a good selection of food for breakfast. I ate dinner in the hotel twice when again the was a variety of food.

Friendly greeting lovely off site room in the stable block. Well appointed clean room with excellent shower en suite. Dinner wad one of the best ive had i a long time. Breakfast superb. I would highly recommend.

Lovely hotel- comfortable room but slightly noisy and warm due to being directly over the bar area ( room 5) . Also could do with a new remote for the tv! Excellent shower and comfortable bed. Good food and friendly relaxed service at dinner and breakfast. Will definitely return.

Everything was top class. The rooms are bright, spacious, modern and comfortable. Food excellent, both evening meal and breakfast. All the staff are helpful, hard working and efficient. Very welcoming atmosphere in the bar.

Excellent as the hotel allowed us to check in early so we could just pop our outfits on to go to a wedding. Food in the pub was lovely and breakfast was great. Shower was good and powerful.

The hotel staff were friendly and polite. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water. The room was serviced every day, which we didn't expect. There was an extensive menu with excellent food. (My coeliac husband was well catered for.)

Amazing location right in the centre of town, the staff were super helpful and accommodating with regards to information on the parade etc. Rooms are clean and modern, no issues whatsoever. Overall it was a great stay and I would 100% stay again on our next visit 😊

Very friendly staff. Excellent service, one of the best full English breakfasts I have ever had. Great central position in Barnard Castle. Spotlessly clean. Overrall highly recommended. We stayed in the 1 bed apartment which was superb, just over the road from the pub.

An old coaching inn that has been gutted to remove all traces of character. That said scrupulously clean, helpful staff, good bedroom (6) up a lot of stairs. Breakfast good (stick to traditional), other options smothered in gloopy inferior Hollandaise sauce or similar. Dinner rather ordinary. Altogether rather overrated in other reviews. Good but not special.

Everything was top class. The rooms are bright, spacious, modern and comfortable. Food excellent, both evening meal and breakfast. All the staff are helpful, hard working and efficient. Very welcoming atmosphere in the bar.

Excellent as the hotel allowed us to check in early so we could just pop our outfits on to go to a wedding. Food in the pub was lovely and breakfast was great. Shower was good and powerful.

I had a ground floor room that was a good size with en-suite facilities. The room was serviced and the towels changed every day. There was a good selection of food for breakfast. I ate dinner in the hotel twice when again the was a variety of food.

The hotel staff were friendly and polite. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water. The room was serviced every day, which we didn't expect. There was an extensive menu with excellent food. (My coeliac husband was well catered for.)

We had a fantastic stay at the Three Horseshoes in Barnard Castle. Our room was extremely well-equipped and spotlessly clean. It was a lovely touch to find a kettle with plenty of tea/coffee making facilities and biscuits waiting for us. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful throughout our stay, making us feel right at home. Breakfast was another highlight—there was an excellent variety on the menu, ranging from a full cooked breakfast to cereals, fresh fruit, and juices. It’s in a great location for exploring the area, with convenient car parking available just behind Morrisons. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

The staff were excellent at check in and during the times that I spoke to them. We stayed in one of the rooms off site and would recommend that the off site rooms have umbrellas to get across for breakfast when it rains. This is not a negative point just an idea as the hotel was an excellent stay
