Adelaide Hostel

Staff very welcoming and helpful. Sturdy and comfortable beds. Big kitchen with lots of fridge space and pots, pans, and cookware to use.

All the people who work there are very nice and professional: receptionists, housekeepers, a young guy who cleans the kitchen! Thanks to all of you! If I could add anything to this place, that would be some snacks and drinks dispenser and a coffee machine or juste some coffee offered to the guests 🤗 when you are staying only a couple of days, you don’t think to buy ground coffee to prepare it twice a day.

Stayed for one night before leaving town. My first hostel experience and it was very nice. Staff and roommates were friendly, and amenities plentiful.

I was able to shop at a farmers market that's not too far from there. Kitchen is open until 10pm.

I loved the old charm of the hostel and the large kitchen, however, the bathroom and shower facilities needed updating.

The staffs were excellent. Very helpful.the shared lobby and the kitchen are good too. The 6 bed shared room where I stayed were full of worn out beds, did not appear to be ‘clean’ enough. Not enough spaced to hang out used clothes. Maybe, considering the low cost, it should be accepted.

Comfortable lounge with plenty of power points, great breakfast and helpful staff. Right in the city center, it was easy to get to everything.

I read the good and bad reviews, and I got to experience both scenarios. I was put in room A when I first arrived. Walking into the room it was hot, smelly and looked like a 17yr old’s room (this was a 6-girl dorm)… one of the residents had taken up multiple lockers and they had to have her empty one for me…I started talking to her and learned that she had been in the room for over a year and other occupants had been there for 3 months and 6 months. There was even old food sitting in the window which I didn’t see until later. The lowest rung of the ladder was waist high (I’m 5’) and they had empty buckets to use to climb on. The shower on that floor was horrible, you couldn’t even wash below the waist well because the shower wouldn’t angle down. I complained so much that the next day they allowed me to pick another room. After finding others that were not much better, I found one with real travelers that was clean. Finally I felt safe & comfortable. I also found the shower upstairs that is nice and the one in the basement is standard size and has a seat. The breakfast isn’t bad and actually is actually put out by about 5am. I learned that a large population of the occupants are permanent residents so this is not really a hostel, it’s a boarding house. It’s not in the best part of town, but neither is the Hilton I had to walk to at 6am…but at least here I wasn’t uncomfortably approached…I did have a guy pester me at the Hilton while I waited for my Yosemite tour.

Dirty floor

I needed a quick place to stay after making a mistake with my flight. The price for the 4 bed to a room was very good. The hostel is clean and the staff was very helpful. You can't expect "quiet" when you're in the Union Square area, but I was happy with my stay.

Fun place, but some place looks dirty. There are conflicts among dorm members.

We booked a private room with a bathroom. Great location, clean, quiet and appreciated the luggage storage.

The images are a little deceiving, the place is far from being clean, the smell is dreadful and there is a sense of danger behind every door, every corner of the building. Management maybe tries their hardest but the price definitely attracts street people who clearly haven't bathed in a long while and a lot of odd people in the common areas. Even if it's for a short stay I'd recommend to avoid this place as much as possible.

The vibes are good! Room was decent. For a young 20’s something it’s a nice spot to be with friends and meet people. I just personally have a more bougie taste now that I’m mid 30’s, and it’s not the hotels fault for that. So if you see some lower stars, that’s why. Super nice staff and common areas.

Interaction with staff was excellent their service was amazing. They even helped me to move my heavy luggage.

The staff was very rude and would not take my money the indian chick in the front didnt have any experience or knowledge on how yo attended the gust. So i just said i will take my business else where and with a ignorant look and smile said ok lol

They are trying, and this is usually a cheaper hostel. The immediate neighborhood it is in is nasty. So if you want a cheap place, that is the tradeoff

Good hostel, with good location

For the price and location I give it 5 stars. Noise and SF grime and lawless factor in the area take a star away. That being said it is what it needs to be and I’d stay there again if everything else around is > $1000 per night.

I bought two bottles of water for A Dollar Cash each. No big deal, right? Turns out not one, but both bottles had already been opened and were refilled with tap water that tasted horrible and caused my lips to react. You think they could at least give you a new bottle of water when buying bottled water. There was a typical noisy people and such, but it was so hot in the evening I couldn't sleep through my bed of sweat since there was no AC or fan. At least I got three or four hours of sleep before my flight the next day. I definitely wouldn't stay for multiple days and don't buy the bottled water ;-)
