Chinatown Travellers Home

Very basic accommodations. On the edge of Chinatown, it offers a wide range of dining options and nightlife, and is in walking distance to nearly everything in Toronto, in addition to being a block from the Dundas trolly line. Property consists of 3 (I think) brownstone type buildings. I stayed in #33, which seems to have been recently renovated. It was very clean, and the room was spacious for one person. The room did not have any glasses, but did have a small fridge and a microwave. Not many flat surface areas to put things, no bedtable, etc. But still, the value was absolutely there given the price of hotels in Toronto. There is no parking on site, but plenty of lots nearby. I would absolutely stay here again.

This is an awesome place if you're looking to stay somewhere on a budget and aren't planning to spend a lot of time in your room. It's clean, and convenient - close to lots of amenities. The rooms are basic but clean and we slept great! If you need parking- ask in advance as it gets filled dup fast and there's not a lot of parking around.I'll definitely come back!

The room was nice and clean, loved the area, very close and walkable to lots of places. Safe and quiet street with a nice park close by. Staff didn’t give us more towels for 4 days when said they would. Wifi didn’t work half the days, mini fridge couldn’t be used because it smelled bad. No parking on street, has to park a block away in public underground parking. Other than that was a nice stay there and would probably stay again.

Quiet neighborhood near restaurants, subway, streetcars and downtown. Nice clean room in an old house recently renovated. Do not expect any extra, no tv, no hair dryer, no fridge, no glass - to me not being able to drink when I arrived was a big inconvenient.

Please install a kitchen 🙏 and if there is one, put up a sign.

Convenient parking, air conditioning and very clean! Would have appreciated knowing our room was in the basement as it was a little dark and a very small window.

This room is on the top floor and has a balcony with a nice view. A good place to relax.

The property was in a very convenient location for attending the Toronto International Film Festival, and that's about the only good thing I can say. The room was as bare bones as it gets, saggy futon mattress, folding table for a desk, no cooking utensils for the kitchen. I expected basic, but it just felt sad. At first the room appeared clean, but after a few days I noticed mouse droppings. The noise was really bothersome even with earplugs, with almost no sound insulation between rooms. The price is right, but you get what you pay for.

Mice-infested building. Do not go there. Very unpleasant.

No frills. Private room was fine and cleaner than expected. Bathroom was impeccably clean. Room further down the hall, far from the stairs are less noisy but bring ear plugs if light sleeper.

the place is so clean! cleanest room for it’s price! the washroom is cleaner than I expected.. bedsheets are clean and well placed.. they dont have slippers inside but the best room for it’s price.. it exceeded my expectations! I will definitely come back again..

The room and building is clean. Basic accommodation but exactly what I needed and was looking for. Excellent location for exploring Kensington market area and downtown. No car needed.

Great, clean facility, easy checkin and checkout

Cheap and had beds a shower and a fridge. It’s like a youth hostel no frills near the streetcar/public transportation. There is no parking on site. That’s a lie. We didn’t stay where we originally booked. They moved us a few houses over. You get what you pay for. Infestation of yellowjackets coming in through the window that faces the alley when we took showers and bathroom got steamy. It’s cheap.

My room was in the basement and the whole floor smelled of cat litter. There was no cat, so it's got to be from pest urine. There was a dead rat outside that just stayed there the whole time. There are holes in the walls and some parts are holding up with tape. The sheets in the room and the towels did smell like they had been washed, so there's that. It seems like they do superficial cleaning, like the floors and the sheets and stuff, but they're not up-keeping the building or doing anything to make sure it stays livable. It's very well-situated and cheap, but not worth it.

If you’re just looking for a place to sleep while you explore the city, this place is decent. The areas a little sketchy, but not the worst. And the room is VERY basic, but they do provide a microwave and mini fridge. The beds are nothing luxurious but comfortable enough. The location is great though. Right next to Dundas, and about a 20 min walk to Yonge and Dundas square, the aquarium, CN tower, Harbour, etc. you get what you pay for, but if you don’t plan on spending much time there beyond resting and showering, it’s perfectly acceptable. Would recommend earplugs though for sleeping

This is a budget hotel so don't expect too much. That said, my stay was fine and the big positive is the location. It is absolutely perfect as a base to see everything worth seeing and doing without the need for loads of Ubers and other transportation. Communication was good and check in was no problem. As I say, I'd you're after luxury this isn't for you but if you just need a place to rest in-between exploring, this is perfect. I would liken it to student digs in the UK. Better than a hostel as you're alone and have you're own bathroom but not as comfortable as mid budget hotel. I was perfectly happy with the room.

You need Ac in a windowless room

Very up to date room and super clean, beds are a little hard and rooms are pretty small but for the price in that area of Toronto it was more than feasible, other than that was a good stay and really nice bathroom as well!

Very appropriate for the price, in a very good spot in the city. One negative is the rooms in the basement have no ventilation.

Room is very basic as described. The bed is similar to a cot. Thin and hard mattress. But the price is right if you’re looking fur a budget friendly place close to downtown. Close enough to walk to Roger’s Centre. 15 minute walk for me. It was a last minute trip so most hotels were pricey, this place wasn’t.

It took me 45 minutes to check in and wait for someone to meet me at the door, first they said 5 minutes, I wait and called 40 minutes later again. and I wanted to check in early but with a $80 cost for a 4 hour check in before hand that is a joke. Also my stay, I was only given I set of towels, absolutely no one saw that I stayed for like 3 days and didn’t offer me clean towels each day like they do at normal hotels, using clean towels everyday is a hygienic way it should be done, I’m in the healthcare field that’s what we do with every patient. Why does this place photocopy your ID, they seem shady in their business practices !

Me my wife and 2 year old daughter requested to keep our luggage upon making reservation due to early arrival but no one reply.When we call the property,the guy said only text and dropped the call,so we text and check whether we can leave our 2 small handcarry before check in they said it’s ok and took my ID and took us to another building.He went inside and come out upset and said to us our reservation is cancelled coz not prepaid for room charge.So I explain to him it was the option on Expedia that pay at the property but the guy refused to accept us and told us to check other places.We are there only for 2 days and with 2 yr old kid.It was really inconvenient so we asked him to call manager. He seems nice and sort it out quickly.It was around 1 pm so we left our luggage and went for lunch.At 3pm,we came back, my daughter was abit tired and didn’t wanna get out of stroller and cry,the same guy who refused to accept us told us your kid is crying and hope she will not wake other guest up.Next day we went to Niagra fall and come back tired want to get some rest. It was around 11:30 pm and there was loud noice coming from upstairs, constant hit sound.Around 1:30 am we called the number which is written on the entrance door and complained about the noice but nothing happened,still.So I went up the room and knocked, after awhile a guy come out n*ked and said it make sound on every moved and he can’t stop.so left the room at 3 am.Awful experience.

Dont judge a book by its cover. Though not pretty on the outside, inside was very well maintained. If you have any issue with your room, someone is always available 24 hours a day. Had an issue with our sink and it was fixed immediately the next day. Geeat service. The room over all was perfect to accomodate me and my guest. Clean sheets, clean towels. The only issue is that the walls are very thin. But it is what it is. It was close to the Film Festival. I would definitely stay here again.

Check-in and checkout processes are quick and simple, room was sparkling clean, staff were lovely. Will be returning.

Arrived in the afternoon and found there's no front desk / check in area. Called for staff to come and assign room. No physical lock on the door, and there are staff use code to enter my room without permission late in the evening when I was lying on the bed, saying that it is because of their own miscommunication. Very Unprofessional and Unsafe.

It was good for the price, but you had to pay extra per night for parking it’s not included. There were also stains on the sheets and no one would answer for check in for about 10 min. Overall it was good right by nice places though. ALSO housekeeping does not knock so be prepared for that.

Couldn't think of better location! Not far to many landmarks. Canada Sign, Younge-Dundas Square, to places to eat. My room with private bathroom and shower was very cosy, clean, warm. I immensely enjoyed my stay. Would love to stay again when I am in town.

The awesome location. Within walking distance of both Queen St and Dundas Street. Its also about a five minute walk from Sonic Boom Records, Dark Horse Cafe and Ocho bar & restaurant.

The property is a 20-minute walk from Rogers Center and about 30-minute walk from the Train Station and a five-minute walk to Kensington Market. The streetcar runs along Dundas which is one block away. Options for food and entertainment are abundant within a 10-minute walk. The area has a quiet, safe, residential area feel. I would definitely stay there again. The property is not fancy but is both clean and affordable. The room looks like the pictures; our room was recently renovated with a beautiful, tiled walk in shower.

Great location

As a frequent visitor to Chinatown Travelers I return because of price, location and simplicity. As a lover of the downtown core of Toronto this to me is perfectly perfect.

Clean, and central!

Rooms were renovated since my last visit, and the AC and a fan were included and functional. The bathroom smelled like wet cigarette butts, but the room itself did not, so that was OK. If you're OK with stairs, and with supplementing your stay with the amenities you need for comfort (your own toiletries, extra pillows, etc..), then this place is a GEM. The price is absolutely the best you'll find, and it is just behind the AGO in a central and convenient, walkable location.

I come here often as it’s convenient to the ballpark for the Jays. Easy walking distance to bus and train stations. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Location, location, location!!

Overall, I really liked it! The only problem was the kitchen, which was non-existent, but otherwise, definitely recommend it
