Disappointing Stay and Inadequate Response to Guest Concerns My husband and I stayed one night at this Best Western in St. Louis. The room conditions and response to our concerns did not meet our expectations. At check in, the front desk employee provided brief, one word answers and limited engagement while responding to our questions. Shortly after settling into our third floor room, my husband felt something crawling on his neck and brushed it off. We found two bugs, which we were unable to identify after they were crushed. We photographed them, along with tears in several areas of the bedsheets. We returned to the front desk to report the issues and show the photographs. The employee offered to move us to another room but declined to view the pictures, stating, “I don’t want to see nothing.” The photographs were also not reviewed at checkout. The replacement room had a noticeable smoke odor. We remained in the room for the night rather than requesting another change. Breakfast the following morning was average. The employee overseeing the breakfast area was courteous, kept the area clean, and replenished the food regularly. However, there was no functioning restroom available near the breakfast area for handwashing. A kitchen employee escorted us to the pool area and provided access to the restroom there. Overall, the stay raised concerns regarding room maintenance, cleanliness, and the handling of guest complaints. More thorough attention to these areas for guests
