The staff was as amazing as the lodge and grounds. Great weekend get away to watch Louisville Football at Virginia Tech. They even shuttled us to and from the game. The Tavern Lodge Bar was excellent as was Harvest the restaurant.

The cottage we stayed in was great and very spacious! Loved the fireplace. Due to the weather we stayed in a lot. Was disappointed they never cleaned the ice rink off enough to skate on it.

Very disappointed. Got the room here because it said pool and hottub. Neither kne is open. Does not say on the website it is seasonal. Wifi doesnt work. No tv dining room.Closes at nine.

The property is older so do not expect to be a typical hotel, but then what hotel has a wood burning fireplace in the rooms and deer walking around in front of your porch. Food and drinks were good and a good atmosphere to relax and enjoy nature. Easy drive to Blacksburg for VA Tech games.

the property and hotel were gorgeous! Very well maintained ..staff was courteous. My only complaints are no tv’s in the main lodge and lack of staff that leads to long wait times at the restaurants and outside bar. They have one server doing the bartending and restaurant each night The outside bar was only open a couple nights a week. I feel like once the summer season is over there is nothing really to do there except sit outside by the fire.

Beautiful property that looks like it is right out of the movie . They were a little short staffed so dining service was a little slow but every staff member was so kind and attentive. Lots of great trails surrounding the property. Don’t forget your bug spay!!!! The pool and hot tub were nice .

You can really do everything in just a few hours visiting this property. We booked a weekend trip and wished we only booked one night. There are no televisions or entertainment on property. Bar service is very very slow, they staff always seemed overwhelmed even when bar was not busy. This place needs more activities to keep guests entertained during spring months. Its a check off your list after a one night stay and done kind of place.

this place is straight out of 1987 dirty dancing. With that said, food prices were extremely high, food wait time was extremely high, food quailty was extremely low. I had several other guests come to me and ask if my meal was terrible and it infact was. With that said, the breakfast buffet was awesome! but still expensive at $20 each person. No nightly fires as adertised, im assuming the pool was out of season, the best bar that was outside was closed. Staff was friendly and inviting. The building is neat and the grounds are nice. I cannot say i had a terrible experience but i really have no desire to come back unless the prices were more reasonable, more activitys were availiable or the lake came back. I would recommend some way to watch dirty dancing in the main lodge.

We came to Mountain Lake Lodge to celebrate a 60th birthday with our daughters, traveling from Florida and Maryland. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations. The resort is very limited. There is only one main restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The café offers very little—just a few muffins, some coffee, and chips. The Tavern bar also has restricted hours, and while the drinks were okay, they were definitely overpriced. We also had an issue at the Tavern. I ordered what I believed to be potato chips, but they arrived as waffle-style fries, which I did not want. Even after explaining the misunderstanding, we were still charged for it. Where is the courtesy? For the 60th birthday dinner, we ate at The Harvest Restaurant. The meal was extremely disappointing: $65 for one very small steak, a scoop of mashed potatoes, and a few uneven pieces of asparagus. We were given only a $10 discount, which did not feel like a fair adjustment for the quality and value. Customer service was inconsistent. The front desk gentleman who checked us in was great and very welcoming. However, a front desk lady we dealt with later was rude and not helpful. The café employee was pleasant, but the restaurant manager did not seem willing to address our dining concerns in a meaningful way. Another bar near Salt Pond has limited hours as well. It is looking run down. The rooms have no TVs or mini fridges and I didn't care for the food choices and the service was awful! Windows filthy... unappetizing looking out filthy bird poop/spiders etc. Ground and view decent/nice and the markers for Dirty Dancing but they underplay it, not marked on their map at all and I could never find this mysterious "memorabilia" room. They never told us about it. Nothing to do but hike. That was it. Bored to death. They charge a resort fee for what amenities I wonder??? Watered down drinks. Obviously nothing in the area. A covered bridge 7 miles down the road was it. Go up, see it quickly and leave. Stay in Roanoake etc.

The room I initally booked was a "multi unit", definitely did not get the right room. Also asked for a mountain view as written on the website, didn't get that either. Although I enjoy wooded areas, it was not what I paid for per the site; you couldn't see anything past the trees. Cleanliness wise, there was a chip and empty alcohol bottle underneath my bed so I guess it wasn't cleaned that well. And while I understand a lot of this hotel is historic and they try and minimize changes, some things do need to be fixed and/or replaced. All of the windows were opened when we arrived and being on a mountain, it of course gets very cold at night. We had a hell of a time closing them as multiple were broke or the wood was warped in some way. The highlight of the stay was Evelyn at the Kellerman's gift shop, she had so much extra knoweldge on the Dirty Dancing history tied to the hotel and was extremely friendly!

A great place to visit to get out in nature. Really enjoy hiking all of the trails, although some of them are overgrown and not clearly marked (but it adds to the vibe and the maps on AllTrails are spot on). Rooms in the main lodge are spacious albeit a little old. But clean and comfy. Overall a great place for a weekend getaway with the kids.

Had a great time staying with the family, walking around the property and viewing the sites. Room was comfortable and clean! Bathroom was also large and clean!! Only wish there were a few dining options for children as my kids were not fond of menu choices

Of course i went there because of Dirty Dancing being filmed there. I was surprised at the condition of our room. Hair was everywhere, a cotton ball type thing was on floor. Very noticeable. Plastic tags that hold price tags on clothes on floor. Bathroom smelled like mildew and urine. Bartender at pub was in back eating while 4 different guests waited a while to order. He came out of back chewing food. He also played with a dog and did not wash his hands before he got fruit to put on drinks. His store and pour containers were disgusting. Looked like they had not been washed in a long time. He acted like we were a inconvenience. The looks we received when we walked into the Harvest dining room to take pics for scavenger hunt was less than welcoming. Very shocked at the whole situation. It was not worth what we paid.

We enjoyed our stay as it felt a little surreal to be where the iconic movie was filmed. Felt a little sad that the rooms and outside the lodge feel a little unloved. Its a beautiful natural setting, but the rooms were not that great quality. Needs a little TLC.

Wonderful old hotel up in the mountains, very quiet and peaceful. Rooms are small and old but from a different era. No tv or usual extras you get but it’s all about being outdoors. Hotel Wi-Fi excellent as no signal up here. A great experience to see how it used to be. A nice change.

For everything you have pay separately. That is acceptable, but the paid ameneties should work properly the. The wifi did Not. And reservations for the harvest Restaurant are required by …. Wifi. The surroundings are wonderful, Even of the Lake is missing.

When they say rustic, please understand this involves a hike uphill to your room from the bottom parking lot, no elevators, and no TV in the rooms. We were told AT CHECK OUT the main lodge is the largest on property but the only one with no TVs. All this would have been ok if advertised as such. I could have reserved something more accommodating. Just don’t see the appeal. Room was just ok, best thing was the decor in the bathroom was cute. The drive up there is nice, was the best part to us.

We were told AT CHECK OUT the main lodge is the largest on property but the only one with no TVs. All this would have been ok if advertised as such. I could have reserved something more accommodating. Just don’t see the appeal. Room was just ok, best thing was the decor in the bathroom was cute. The drive up there is nice, was the best part to us.

Pro: It is very secluded and quiet, the staff are nice, it is extremely peaceful up in the mountains. Con: The main appeal seems to be nostalgia for fans of the film "Dirty Dancing". There is no air conditioning in the lodge, and there is really only one place to eat. The hotel room had no fridge, and everything was extremely dated. The room was tiny, just barely enough room to fit the bed, desk, and dresser. The lake is all but dried up as well, greatly reducing the views on order. I am not generally negative in reviews, but anyone wanting to stay here needs to know what to expect.

The staff was extremely nice, the property was very clean... only downside is no a/c in the main lodge but it stayed cool even though it was 80 degrees during the day.. every room has a celing fan and a box fan for extra air movement. But had a excellent stay. Kalise was a great server.

Great place to visit if a fan of Dirty Dancing. Otherwise, the food service was understaffed and lacking. We stayed in the Chestnut Lodge on the bottom floor where the guests above us started their day at 6am and sounded like a heard of elephants running back and forth until we left our room at 9am.

Have stayed here before in cabins, and it was great! Stayed in the lodge this time and was disappointed. Rooms are very small and NO TV! Might not be as important to others. Bathroom was clean and small but toilet so close to the wall. Bar and waitstaff were less than stellar in service and attitude. Expected more overall.

Fantastic place, excellent room, majestic grounds. my complaint is that checkout time is 11am and so at 10am we returned to our room to shower and get ready to leave but instead found that our stuff had been thrown away and the beds stripped. upon asking about this at the desk I was told.. "I dont know, it says you have been checked out since yesterday" . she then called for some help from the back, but upon the arrival of that help.. i quickly decided to cut my losses and leave with as few words exchanged as possible!

The staff was as amazing as the lodge and grounds. Great weekend get away to watch Louisville Football at Virginia Tech. They even shuttled us to and from the game. The Tavern Lodge Bar was excellent as was Harvest the restaurant.

We had a fabulous stay here. The lodge is gorgeous and the rooms are comfortable. The food in Harvest was absolutely delicious. Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The manager, Heidi was the sweetest and Joanna and Lyndsey were awesome as well. Johnny was so nice and he kept the fireplace going so it was a great, cozy spot to sit and talk. This place is a must for Dirty Dancing fans and we will be returning sometime!

Front desk manager was rude on 2 occasions. She tried to charge us an additional fee when checking out. She said it was for the wifi and other amenities. We told her we had already paid this fee and she argued we hadn't. A quick look at our card showed we had. She was very short and rude after that. Also it says the wifi is complimentary. All the other employees were great and a pleasure to talk to. The grounds are pretty run down. Rotten boards on walkways. Some marked with cones. Walkways overrun with brush. Completely dead trees around parking area. A good wind could put them on a vehicle. The breakfast buffet was the same you get complementary at any Holiday Inn but its $20 here. Also the fruit sat out all morning with no lid on it and was covered by fruitflys.

We came to Mountain Lake Lodge to celebrate a 60th birthday with our daughters, traveling from Florida and Maryland. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations. The resort is very limited. There is only one main restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The café offers very little—just a few muffins, some coffee, and chips. The Tavern bar also has restricted hours, and while the drinks were okay, they were definitely overpriced. We also had an issue at the Tavern. I ordered what I believed to be potato chips, but they arrived as waffle-style fries, which I did not want. Even after explaining the misunderstanding, we were still charged for it. Where is the courtesy? For the 60th birthday dinner, we ate at The Harvest Restaurant. The meal was extremely disappointing: $65 for one very small steak, a scoop of mashed potatoes, and a few uneven pieces of asparagus. We were given only a $10 discount, which did not feel like a fair adjustment for the quality and value. Customer service was inconsistent. The front desk gentleman who checked us in was great and very welcoming. However, a front desk lady we dealt with later was rude and not helpful. A great place to visit to get out in nature. Really enjoy hiking all of the trails, although some of them are overgrown and not clearly marked (but it adds to the vibe and the maps on AllTrails are spot on). Rooms in the main lodge are spacious albeit a little old. But clean and comfy. Overall a great place for a weekend getaway with the kids.

All of the parking by the registration was marked "Fire Lane - no parking". So not clear you could park there to offload luggage. There are lots of nice trails for hiking around the lake and up the hills for a great view over the valley.

Stayed here in past, place in need of renovations, but knew what we were getting into. Conveniently located near Virginia Tech, this worked good for Metallica concert and prices were not as bad as the hotels in Blacksburg.

This place is very special, whether you're a fan of Dirty Dancing or not. Its location is just beautiful, so peaceful and totally immersed in its surroundings. There are so many lovely trails where the only sound is birdsong. No planes overhead, trains or traffic. That's a rare thing in the US!! The Dirty Dancing info and scenes are realy well done, we loved it all!

The mountain to get up to the resort is very steep and tight turns our car smoked when we reached the top!! As a resort I thought food would be free but it was horribly expensive for mediocre quality food. Paid 700 dollars to stay in a room with no ac no microwave or refrigerator or tv, what little WiFi we had was bad signal this place was overpriced and overrated I will not come back nor recommend this money pit!!!

the property and hotel were gorgeous! Very well maintained ..staff was courteous. My only complaints are no tv’s in the main lodge and lack of staff that leads to long wait times at the restaurants and outside bar. They have one server doing the bartending and restaurant each night The outside bar was only open a couple nights a week. I feel like once the summer season is over there is nothing really to do there except sit outside by the fire.

Gorgeous property and area! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Unique history makes it a fun stop, and the grounds are just beautiful, with many walking paths. There are also hiking trails to take you around the mountain with many different skill levels. We loved the hike up the Bald Knob Trail, it was sooo pretty at top! We enjoyed a quick meal and a beer at the tavern, which was a nice alternative to a full-on meal at the restaurant.

It was a little disappointing. I think it was off season. There was no tv in the room and the place was confusing to find your way around. Dining was very limited. We had to drive 17 miles to get dinner that our son would eat.

this place is straight out of 1987 dirty dancing. With that said, food prices were extremely high, food wait time was extremely high, food quailty was extremely low. I had several other guests come to me and ask if my meal was terrible and it infact was. With that said, the breakfast buffet was awesome! but still expensive at $20 each person. No nightly fires as adertised, im assuming the pool was out of season, the best bar that was outside was closed. Staff was friendly and inviting. The building is neat and the grounds are nice. I cannot say i had a terrible experience but i really have no desire to come back unless the prices were more reasonable, more activitys were availiable or the lake came back. I would recommend some way to watch dirty dancing in the main lodge.

We stayed in the Richmond cabins, very clean, bed was very comfortable, washroom had soaps and shampoos available, room was equipped with air-conditioning and ceiling fan, microwave, and mini-fridge. We were there to celebrate Dirty Dancing and this hotel did not.dissppoint. As a fan, it was perfect.

Where should I start? We were excited to see the property because of its connection to the Dirty Dancing movie. It was cool to see the different landmarks throughout the property. The lodge itself is architecturally and historically significant and beautiful. The staff members were friendly. But it all went downhill from there. Our cabin was rustic which we expected but it was also kind of rundown and not very well maintained at all. The paint was chipping on the steps and walkways. The beds were uncomfortable. The shower was awful and was not fully functional. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom so the mirror fogs up and takes a while to defog. The floors are not clean at all. The tv had horrible connection issues so we couldn’t even watch a movie in the evening. We had dinner at the lodge the first evening and we were so disappointed in the quality especially for what we paid. It was bland and just not good. The hotel also charges a resort fee and a historical preservation fee which is kind of hidden. We ended up leaving one day early because we just couldn’t stay for one more night. When we checked out early, the front desk staff didn’t bother to ask if we enjoyed our stay. I would definitely not recommend it and I hope the management reads this. This could be such a wonderful property if it were better maintained.
