Grant Street Inn - Bloomington

Excellent stay in charming room. The room was quite large compared to a hotel room. Small fridge, but no micro. Large TV with Roku, so was able to stream our shows. Nice shower, sitting area with plenty of handy outlets. Parking is provided for both buildings.The front desk staff was very nice and helpful for info. Breakfast buffet was bacon and eggs with granola - very good and a very pleasant hostess that served it up. Also a selection of yogurts, fruit and bagels. We stayed in room #75 on the second floor of the adjacent building (the main building has the breakfast buffet and workout room, just across the street). Unfortunately, no elevator, but we had very little luggage so it was no problem for us. The location was great - a quiet street, but within walking distance (half a mile) of the IU auditorium (we had tickets to a Straight No Chaser concert - awesome!) and virtually any type of cuisine at the local restaurants. While walking back to our room after the concert, as we were heading to the front door, a local deer (six point buck) came strolling across the street, passed a few yards in front of us to look us over, then wandered on into the alley. Front desk says he stays around the area and sleeps under some pine trees they have. Being a week before Christmas, we were hoping Santa wasn't far away. We will definitely come back again.

Perfectly comfortable B&B, conveniently located near campus. Beautiful Victorian furnishings but good modern amenities. Everything about the stay was nice, breakfast buffet is the same/better than what you may find at a hotel, and the only downside was the limited parking.

There needs to be handrails on all the outside steps on ALL the buildings. Check in was easy; breakfast was great. The lady that works breakfast does a bang up job! She is fabulous. I don't know her name.

Pros: - Clean - Mirrors and fan in room - Beautiful building + grounds - Breakfast was good - Friendly staff - Cookies in lobby - Tea station Cons: - Parking was a huge issue. Very confusing signage with not enough near building - When we first checked in for a 2 night stay we were told that breakfast would be at a certain time. When we came down after night 2 during those breakfast hours we had been told everything had already been cleaned up. Never told breakfast hours were changed. - Accessibility. Uneven stairs to enter facility + majority of rooms in main building could only be accessed by going up a narrow staircase. Stayed here with a knee injury + having to manage all of the stairs with that was difficult and painful every single time we needed to enter + exit the building/go to the lobby. - Lack of amenities. For the price paid to not be able to get coffee when we wanted (asked staff and they said they were out and we would have to wait until breakfast, about 5 hours later, before we would be able to have coffee since they wouldn’t make it. No coffee maker, fridge, or microwave in room. - No closet in room. Only 4 hangers there and no bag for dirty clothes. - Dated rooms with damage to some furniture - No climate control in room so burned up the whole time. Fan was not enough. - Only one side of the bed had a table, outlet, and lamp. Other had nothing. - Wi-Fi spotty - TV up very high making it hard to see - Very noisy with thin walls

Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Staff were excellent. Left too early for breakfast but look like it was excellent. Parking was tight and we were lucky to get a spot. Love the amenities. Great shampoo and conditioner! Room was pretty pricey though…..

Consistently, superior. Every room in which I’ve stayed has been, Clean, quaint, spacious,comfortable, and deliciously quiet. ( I live in a big city). Breakfast food, Ruthie and staff cannot be beat! All staff know just how to make you feel at home. On site gym is very well equipped and clean. There is no better place to stay other than Grant Street Inn! Susan H 12/1/24

Historic property to Bloomington and IU. Very clean and beautifully decorated. Even has a fitness center!

Room was very clean, bedding comfortable, towels nicely thick. In a town where nearly every parking spot is reserved or paid, it was nice to have a dedicated (free) parking lot. The neighborhood was quiet the weekend I stayed there (note that I did not go on a football weekend, ha ha). Staff was very pleasant. Breakfast was fine. Note: I'm not in the habit of carrying much cash and so I was not able to leave a tip for housekeeping or the breakfast attendant. I just booked my next stay (next month) and I will bring cash so I can make it up to them! :) (So if you are planning to stay there, do bring some cash!)

Grant Street Hotel is a combination of a few houses very close to IU Bloomington campus. My unit was spacious, quiet. Free parking. Cookies at check-in. Great breakfast included. Parking spaces are right. Electric vehicle parking also available. Exercise room on basement of house at 315.

Wonderful place to stay in Bloomington. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was amazing. Easy parking. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend!

I really looked forward to this stay with my teenage son. He slept on the foldaway sofa. However in the morning he has some horrible bites. Staff agrees they were fresh and checked for bedbugs. They looked more like fleas but staff did not seem bothered. I was pretty shocked by the lack compassion or interest in addressing. I don’t usually leave reviews but felt compelled to let others know.

Staff was fine and the room was clean and orderly.

Overall for 1 night it was OK; however our room/bathroom was clean enough BUT there was A LOT of dust and spiderwebs on the chandelier and ALL of the curtains/drapes. Also breakfast had very limited options. Staff was respectful, nice and helpful. Parking was very convenient.

The fold out couch could not even be used. The mattress was so think you could see the bars when you opened it up. Nothing could be done, I checked. Our towels were dirty but we made it work.

We absolutely loved everything about our stay. The facilities were immaculate. We were greeted with delicious gourmet cookies and little candies. The room itself was extremely comfortable and spacious with a cozy bed. The breakfast the next morning was delicious. We will definitely be back if we come back to the area.

PROS: Convenient, walkable location; great staff; abundant parking; price transparency; clean bathroom and bedding; breakfast; towels NEUTRAL: Community fridge; TV is not signed in to any streaming services; no body wash offered in the shower package CONS: Chairs in the room could have been cleaned/vacuumed better; can be noisy in/outside; some in-room appliances did not work I would stay here again.

Have stayed a few times but honestly a little disappointed this time around. Breakfast and breakfast staff was lovely as always but the reception staff just not friendly. Our room was in the accessible building across the street. Had issues with the room - mildew on the shower curtain and a coffee pot that didn’t function. Location is great to walk anywhere on campus or main strip.

Quaint and cute, needs some minor touch ups/repairs in rooms. Pillows were travel size and misshapen.

Very charming, friendly staff. Keep in mind that this is a historic building. Some rooms are on a shared thermostat.

Fabulous location next to IU, friendly staff, easy parking, great breakfast. Rooms a little dated but large and fab air conditioning. Would definitely stay here again!

The room was spacious, the bathroom had a gorgeous shower that my 6’7” husband could stand UNDER, and the staff was very helpful. The only complaint was that the bed was a little soft for our liking.

Property and our room was very nice. The Inn placed us in a room directly across the street from major construction. It started at 6:30 am. Not good.

stayed in what i was told was previously the bridal suite. the layout was a bit odd. sink was over in the area by the bed, not quite close to the bathroom. Tv was too small for the size of the room, not enjoyable to watch from the bed. An ottoman would be nice if you want to sit chairs to watch Tv. Other than that it was nice, within walking distance to coffee shops and restaurants. take a drive to Nashville IN it is a quaint town. Try the Birds Nest. Good food.

I’ve stayed here before and have always appreciated the friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere, which makes this visit a bit disappointing. The room felt dark and a bit worn, with missing bathroom tiles, ant traps on the floor, and an awkward layout with the shower and toilet far from the sink. There was also no fridge or coffee maker. I probably could have asked for another room, but it was late and I was tired. Hopefully management checks on these issues, as this stay didn’t reflect the usual “Exceptional” standard I’ve experienced in the past.

It feels shameful to balk about too much daylight, but 12 windows with wood shutters allowed in so much street light it was hard to sleep.

I've stayed at a few hotels around the University and this place was the most convenient with a super easy and quick walk to main campus. The Inn is cute and very much like a bed and breakfast. The breakfast was delicious and had lots of options. And the freely accessible tea, coffee, and hot chocolate was a nice perk. I stayed in the main building and in a room on the 1st floor/check-in level. I would caution against having a room on this floor as it was quite noisy. You can hear all of the lobby conversations and those from the staff at the front desk. I didn't complain or request another room because I tend to sleep with a noise machine and it was also a short visit. However, if I stay again, I would request something else.

Staff was executional and the whole property was just a little gem in the heart of Bloomington. Highly recommend a couple nights in this beautiful little Inn.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The staff was unbelievable and helped us immensely. We were there for IU orientation and had a few hiccups (NOT with hotel) and they were so encouraging, helpful and so wonderful! David, Mary and the rest of the staff are beautiful people. Our room was so charming, clean and just perfect! Location is perfect for IU and the downtown of Bloomington. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again and highly recommend this hotel to others!!!❤️

The staff were very friendly and helpful, made us feel at home, and gave extra help when we left something behind.

The entire staff was amazingly sweet and helpful. The front desk was always checking in when we walked by and offering cold water. The breakfast was delicious and we were offered items to take with us. You can tell they are all about those staying there and it shows. The location was perfect and the off street (free) parking was amazing. We were able to walk everywhere and not worry about our car. We would definitely stay there again.

The staff at the front desk was not helpful. She chatted with a friend/customer about baby pictures for 20 minutes without aknowledging me. Then she apparently accidentally deleted my reservation financial information, took her time to restore it and then told me Im getting a different room than I reserved because of it. I got a room farther than the main building, though that was not what was reserved. I had two huge and heavy bags i had to carry myself to the other building because there was no help available. Overall the worst hotel experience

Grant Street Inn was perfect for our visit to IU. It was walking distance from everything and the breakfast was perfect! The staff was welcoming, helpful, and super friendly!

We enjoyed our stay, although you might wish to ask for a room away from the street. IU students were a bit loud at 1:00 in the morning! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is a few steps up from your usual "breakfast included" hotel.

Our stay at the Grant Street Inn was great! The location is very convenient to walk around the area in Bloomington and super close to IU. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. Would stay again!

I’ve stayed here several times and I’ve always enjoyed it. Clean and nice accommodations with a great location. Breakfast was amazing.

Room was quaint! Loved the Inn. Would highly recommend. My daughter wasn’t feeling great towards evening, and we had to go down 3 different times to the front desk and they had what we were looking for so I didn’t have to go out to the drug store. Very accommodating and very friendly!! Breakfast staff was wonderful and variety was great and really good!

The houses were cute and everyone was nice but our bread for breakfast had mold!!

The breakfast menu was limited, but what they offered was done very well. Fresh baked goods made on premises were outstanding. Premium dairy products offered.

Interesting facility - only issue was the chief prepared breakfast.

Everything was great except for the breakfast. The last time we came the breakfast was wonderful. They changed the breakfast menu this time, and it was hardly edible. They had eggs sunny side up that had been sitting too long. They also had another prepared dish, and the meat was rather tasteless and tough.

We just love staying at Grant Street Inn! The staff is always so friendly and helpful and the breakfast is always amazing! And the chocolate chip cookies are awesome too! There is so much within walking distance. It's just a great place to stay!
