The property is located just off the A64. It’s within easy, travelling distance of Castle, Howard, Scampston Hall, Malton and the coast. I stayed for two nights. I slept well. My room was comfortable and clean.. I had a good breakfast both days, one of the evenings ate in the pub. The food was delicious. Parking was easy. All the staff I dealt with by friendly and helpful. I would stay there again

Convenient location close to the A64 and a number of Yorkshire attractions. My room was in an annexe building at the top of the car park. All was bright, clean and warm. The bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable. Ample tea and coffee in the room. Strong free WiFi. Room on the small side and bathroom tiny though adequate. Problem with shower tray draining slowly reported to staff. Staff in the main building pleasant and eager to please. The crowning glory is the pub and particularly the food which was excellent both for the evening meal and breakfast.

What a great place this is. The pub is so lovely and so are the staff, so friendly and obliging. It was like a home from home. The food was 1st class and the huge breakfast set you up for the day. The Ham &Cheese Ploughman’s was epic. Nothing was too much trouble, a real gem.

We stayed for 1 night, so can't comment about the area, the pub is lovely, with a comfy area for drinking, bar area for eating & separate restaurant. Friendly, helpful staff & food was delicious. We had a dog & stayed in a separate building but this was fine & only 2mjn walk away. There is a deadend road opposite which is perfect for walking the dog with several poo bins. Would certainly stay again when in the area. It is right next to the A64 but we never heard any traffic in our room.

The bedroom was clean, tidy & comfortable. The en-suute bathroom was also clean with electric shower. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and you could choose what you wanted from the menu. The accommodation is above a pub & also they have a separate bungalow in the grounds with 5 rooms. I can reccommend this place for a stay.

We stayed at the Ham and Cheese for two nights as a family (with a 3 and 6 year old). The room was perfect - spacious, clean and had one massive bed and two single beds. The bathroom was sperate and further away from the bedroom which was nice. The pub wasnt too noisy in the evening and totally silent once people had left. We ate twice in the evening and the food was really good. The staff were great. The only negative was at the bottom of the stairs before coming into the room it smelt really badly of sewage. This smell wasnt in the main part of the pub or the room though. Otherwise, the location was convenient. We used it as a base to drive across to the coast one day, and York the next.

This property is very well maintained and far better than many chain hotels like Holiday Inn or Premier Inn. The room had everything we needed for a very comfortable and relaxing stay. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cosy, clean, and well-equipped place to stay!

The only problem I had was that the double bed was a 4 foot wide this is not wide enough for 2 adults I stayed in room 5 my friend was in room 1 and he had a 4ft6in bed

Lovely hotel ,food was excellent ,breakfast didnt start til 8am but they did me a packed lunch to pick up in morning so i didnt loose out on some food 😀 ( nice touch ) also property is very reasonably priced for what they provide compared to alot of hotels round that area ,love the quirky name 👍

The hotel location was ideal for my onward travel the nrxt morning. The staff were really helpful at check-in and in the bar/restaurant. I was informed that breakfast started at 08:00 and when I said that I would be leaving before breakfast started a pre-prepared breakfast snack and water was provided for me the following morning.

We spent 2 nights at the Ham and Cheese and were thoroughly delighted with every aspect and service they provided. The food was delicious and served efficiently with a friendly smile. The 3 rooms we utilised were clean and well furnished. Bathrooms were a bit small but the shower was fairly big and worked well. Well situated for places we wished to visit, York, Pickering, Whitby and Scarborough. Great stay overall.

Convenient location close to the A64 and a number of Yorkshire attractions. My room was in an annexe building at the top of the car park. All was bright, clean and warm. The bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable. Ample tea and coffee in the room. Strong free WiFi. Room on the small side and bathroom tiny though adequate. Problem with shower tray draining slowly reported to staff. Staff in the main building pleasant and eager to please. The crowning glory is the pub and particularly the food which was excellent both for the evening meal and breakfast.

We stayed for 1 night, so can't comment about the area, the pub is lovely, with a comfy area for drinking, bar area for eating & separate restaurant. Friendly, helpful staff & food was delicious. We had a dog & stayed in a separate building but this was fine & only 2mjn walk away. There is a deadend road opposite which is perfect for walking the dog with several poo bins. Would certainly stay again when in the area. It is right next to the A64 but we never heard any traffic in our room.

Lovely hotel ,food was excellent ,breakfast didnt start til 8am but they did me a packed lunch to pick up in morning so i didnt loose out on some food 😀 ( nice touch ) also property is very reasonably priced for what they provide compared to alot of hotels round that area ,love the quirky name 👍

What a gem in the most fantastic location to explore beautiful Yorkshire:) We were made to feel incredibly welcome by every member of staff we met :) fabulous food and service :) friendly, helpful staff and a great advert for how to run a business :) we can’t wait to return xx

We stayed at the Ham and Cheese for two nights as a family (with a 3 and 6 year old). The room was perfect - spacious, clean and had one massive bed and two single beds. The bathroom was sperate and further away from the bedroom which was nice. The pub wasnt too noisy in the evening and totally silent once people had left. We ate twice in the evening and the food was really good. The staff were great. The only negative was at the bottom of the stairs before coming into the room it smelt really badly of sewage. This smell wasnt in the main part of the pub or the room though. Otherwise, the location was convenient. We used it as a base to drive across to the coast one day, and York the next.

The hotel location was ideal for my onward travel the nrxt morning. The staff were really helpful at check-in and in the bar/restaurant. I was informed that breakfast started at 08:00 and when I said that I would be leaving before breakfast started a pre-prepared breakfast snack and water was provided for me the following morning.

First time stayed, everything fine apart from kitchen fan noise, but was turned off when pub shut, hosts and staff are great and friendly. The food whether breakfast, lunch or an evening meal is brilliant

What a great place this is. The pub is so lovely and so are the staff, so friendly and obliging. It was like a home from home. The food was 1st class and the huge breakfast set you up for the day. The Ham &Cheese Ploughman’s was epic. Nothing was too much trouble, a real gem.

Our family room was clean comfortable and spacious. Check in was seamless and the pub/bar area Is great. We had breakfast and the full English was one of the best we’ve ever had. Highly recommend if you’re going to stay in the area.

Utrolig fin Pub, med nydelige Hotel etter. Personlig service. God mat. Hjelpsomme hyggelige folk. Vi reiste med tog og tok bussen til puben ca 8km. Bussholdeplass rett ved. Vi likte oss så godt at vi kjøpte en ekstra natt på stedet.

Room was small but perfectly furnished, it was clean and fresh and very comfortable. Shower room again was small but perfectly bijou. Neither of us are skinny but we found the space perfectly fine. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and it was all delicious and plentiful. Staff were lovely, very helpful and efficient.

This is the second time I've stayed here and have nothing to complain about, room was very nice and the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the food was spot on and a nice beer sat outside in the sun, it's perfect for what we needed for either stop over before flamingo land or to the coast, will definitely stop again.

Room nice & clean,really good shower nice quiet village,had fish & chips for evening meal very nice and a pint of Guinness pulled properly even had a shamrock on it.very nice place to stay will definitely srsy again.
