The boat inn was an amazing place to stay. Super cosy downstairs with roaring log fires, friendly staff and tasty food, with a lovely room, and the most comfortable bed. The shower was huge, everything was very clean and we were even able to check in early which was great. Breakfast in the morning was amazing with loads of choice and all local produce. Absolutely 10/10 and would return here in a heartbeat.

This was a last minute decision to go away for the night and we stumbled upon the Boat Inn while working through Hotels.com. Great place to stay, good pub grub, lovely clean and smart room, dog friendly and very peaceful. The staff were brilliant. And they have EV charging!

Notre hôtel coup de coeur de notre road-trip en Ecosse ! Il se trouve que nous l'avons choisi pour deux raisons. 1/ il est à 30min en voiture du château de Balmoral, où nous avons passé l'après-midi. 2/ il date des années 1700 et il ne nous en fallait pas plus. Cela dit, nous avons dormi dans l'extension, le boat house, à l'arrière du bâtiment, derrière le parking gratuit (où il y a des bornes pour véhicules électriques). On a super bien dormi, pourtant nous étions craintifs à l'arrivée car cela ne semblait pas très bien insonorisé mais tout le monde était vraiment calme et nous n'avons rien entendu la nuit. Evidemment, il est possible de réserver une table dés l'arrivée pour y manger le soir, et c'était excellent pour un très bon prix, avec un petit train électrique le long du plafond qui fait le tour du restaurant pour ravir les enfants (et les plus grands). Le petit-déjeuner était inclu, et c'est à la carte avec différentes possibilités. Nous avons opté pour le porridge à la pomme et nous sommes vraiment régalé, avec du café, du jus de pomme, des toasts et de la confiture. Un moment hors du temps avec un personnel aux petits soins. Je comprends mieux la réputation de ce Inn, et je suis ravie de pouvoir contribuer aux bons avis !

Absolutely loved the place!!! Easy to get to and lots of parking. EV charging stations!! Our room was fantastic!! Staff was beyond helpful!! Definitely make dinner reservations before you go because the place is very popular and the food is terrific!! Breakfast was a real treat!! You get to order off a menu instead of a buffet!! I had eggs and salmon and my son had full Scottish…we thoroughly enjoyed it and didn’t need to eat again till dinner!!!!!! HIGHLY recommend staying here!!!

The only minor point to spoil an otherwise perfect 10, was that the drain in the bedroom shower was partially blocked limiting the time you could shower before the tray filled up! Otherwise a very enjoyable experience, friendly and efficient staff, clean rooms, good food and a choice of three real ales in the bar! What more could you want.

Came for one night for the food as we had read good reports and were not disappointed, it was excellent both dinner and breakfast. We had a small dog and found a dog towel, treats, poo bags and a feeding mat provided in the room and also in the bar area. Nice clean room and bathroom. It would have been nice for the heating to have been on before arrival as it was cold, but was nice and warm after our walk from the electric heater and towel rail

Good sized room close to front door which was ideal as traveling with our pup. Good menu with lots of choice plus all the food we had was tasty and well presented. Great selection of drinks too Very dog friendly so 5* all round Will definitely be staying again

Quaint little place right off the River Dee in Aboyne. They have taken care to make sure you have all the modern amenities, but also retain a pub style cafe at the front of the inn. The staff were very kind, the food was amazing, and the beer was cold. I have been here almost 2 weeks and this was one of the best places I have stayed. Strongly recommend if you are passing through Aboyne. If you don’t plan on going to Aboyne, you should reconsider given the shine of this little gem…

Spotless room and extremely comfortable bed. Another fantastic stay at the boat. I stayed with my 2 year old grandson and they couldn’t do enough for us. After a day out exploring it was super to come back to a warm compromise And have a delicious meal. Breakfast is Lao a real plus. Staff are just amazing, love them all! B thank you!

We have stayed at The Boat Inn at least 5 times now. We just keep coming back! A very professional set up and extremely comfortable. Staff so obviously want you to have a good time and will do all they can to ensure that you do. Rooms are very clean and beds so comfortable. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, though it would have been good to see more vegetarian options on the menu. Breakfast is excellent. Aboyne is a very good base for exploring Deeside, Speyside , Stonehaven and Donside and Aberdeen.

Only stayed for one night as in the area for business purposes. Had an evening meal in the bar area and the food was excellent. Room was clean and nicely decorated with all amenities provided. Staff were professional and courteous. The breakfast was superb in the morning although I did not have much appetite early on I wouldnt have gone hungry if I had been ready for food. Lovely natural yoghurt with fruit compote and honey and although I didnt actually eat the bacon barm at breakfast I took it away and ate if for lunch cold and the bacon was really good quality.

This is a lovely place to stay on the banks of the beautiful River Dee. It was truly a slice of highland heaven! We had a deluxe river view room which had the most stunning view from the window seat! The food was lovely and every member of the staff team we encountered was very kind and helpful. We will definitely be back to stay again. I would recommend this to other travellers.

We stayed in the Annex in an A-frame style building. The roof angles on the 2nd floor made the bathroom awkward. The room was nicely furnished, but there was no room for suitcases or to hang much. Staff was great. The included breakfast was excellent.

Excellant food and service. Our room in the building at the back of property was quite small. It was clean and well presented. If you had more than one bag it would have been a struggle. You could also hear everything that went on in the bathroom in our room and the rest of the building as well. Keys going into locks, people going in and out of the building, toilets flushing, showers running and taps running. Not much soundproofing it would appear.

Staff was great. Our rooms were individually decorated and were quite large. Beds were very comfortable and location was beautiful. Every one of my party of 7 said they would return for a longer visit. Food was great!

We stayed in room 10 which is in a building at the back of the hotel. Room is small but we were only staying one night. Furnishings etc were quite quirky. The ensuite was small. shower was great, the wash hand basin was wide but narrow & couldnt put the tap on fully ,as the water just splashed out with the force. Staff were excellent & plenty of them, service was first class, could not fault them. Overall a lovely hotel in a great location,would definately reccomend.

I'm surprised this hotel gets the good reviews it does. We stayed in the newer building out back and it seemed the quality of a newer budget hotel, walls are paper thin and you can hear every person coming/going talking etc. Bathroom is the smallest we have had on this trip and water ran right out of the sink onto your feet if you accidentally turned it on to high. Bed was comfortable, breakfast was good and staff was excellent.

Spotless room and extremely comfortable bed. Another fantastic stay at the boat. I stayed with my 2 year old grandson and they couldn’t do enough for us. After a day out exploring it was super to come back to a warm compromise And have a delicious meal. Breakfast is Lao a real plus. Staff are just amazing, love them all! B thank you!

We had the perfect stay at The Boat Inn. Superb location in a beautiful part of Scotland. The staff were very efficient and friendly. The meals were great and we will look forward to another visit.

The whole place was just perfect for our post-Xmas get away. Very kind, thoughtful staff who always went the extra mile. Special thanks to Becks and Angus who helped us enormously when our car broke down in the area. Their kindness meant an awful lot to me and I really was stuck. Food - especially the breakfast options - was very tasty and the staff clearly work very hard.

Only stayed for one night as in the area for business purposes. Had an evening meal in the bar area and the food was excellent. Room was clean and nicely decorated with all amenities provided. Staff were professional and courteous. The breakfast was superb in the morning although I did not have much appetite early on I wouldnt have gone hungry if I had been ready for food. Lovely natural yoghurt with fruit compote and honey and although I didnt actually eat the bacon barm at breakfast I took it away and ate if for lunch cold and the bacon was really good quality.

Notre hôtel coup de coeur de notre road-trip en Ecosse ! Il se trouve que nous l'avons choisi pour deux raisons. 1/ il est à 30min en voiture du château de Balmoral, où nous avons passé l'après-midi. 2/ il date des années 1700 et il ne nous en fallait pas plus. Cela dit, nous avons dormi dans l'extension, le boat house, à l'arrière du bâtiment, derrière le parking gratuit (où il y a des bornes pour véhicules électriques). On a super bien dormi, pourtant nous étions craintifs à l'arrivée car cela ne semblait pas très bien insonorisé mais tout le monde était vraiment calme et nous n'avons rien entendu la nuit. Evidemment, il est possible de réserver une table dés l'arrivée pour y manger le soir, et c'était excellent pour un très bon prix, avec un petit train électrique le long du plafond qui fait le tour du restaurant pour ravir les enfants (et les plus grands). Le petit-déjeuner était inclu, et c'est à la carte avec différentes possibilités. Nous avons opté pour le porridge à la pomme et nous sommes vraiment régalé, avec du café, du jus de pomme, des toasts et de la confiture. Un moment hors du temps avec un personnel aux petits soins. Je comprends mieux la réputation de ce Inn, et je suis ravie de pouvoir contribuer aux bons avis !

This is a lovely place to stay on the banks of the beautiful River Dee. It was truly a slice of highland heaven! We had a deluxe river view room which had the most stunning view from the window seat! The food was lovely and every member of the staff team we encountered was very kind and helpful. We will definitely be back to stay again. I would recommend this to other travellers.

We really enjoyed our stay here in the beautiful town of Aboyne. It was a good base for visiting Royal Deeside and the staff were really lovely. We would stay here again,and recommend it to anyone planning a road trip in this area.

This is a dream of a place to stay, opposite the River Dee. The pub itself is charming, with excellent staff and good food, and the accommodation in the ‘annex’ is first class. Highly recommended.

We have stayed at The Boat Inn at least 5 times now. We just keep coming back! A very professional set up and extremely comfortable. Staff so obviously want you to have a good time and will do all they can to ensure that you do. Rooms are very clean and beds so comfortable. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, though it would have been good to see more vegetarian options on the menu. Breakfast is excellent. Aboyne is a very good base for exploring Deeside, Speyside , Stonehaven and Donside and Aberdeen.

Quaint little place right off the River Dee in Aboyne. They have taken care to make sure you have all the modern amenities, but also retain a pub style cafe at the front of the inn. The staff were very kind, the food was amazing, and the beer was cold. I have been here almost 2 weeks and this was one of the best places I have stayed. Strongly recommend if you are passing through Aboyne. If you don’t plan on going to Aboyne, you should reconsider given the shine of this little gem…

Stayed one night on way home from a function. Room was very comfortable, the food excellent, staff all so pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was more interesting and varied than I have seen - really enjoyed it. Relaxed atmosphere made us feel so welcome

Absolutely loved the place!!! Easy to get to and lots of parking. EV charging stations!! Our room was fantastic!! Staff was beyond helpful!! Definitely make dinner reservations before you go because the place is very popular and the food is terrific!! Breakfast was a real treat!! You get to order off a menu instead of a buffet!! I had eggs and salmon and my son had full Scottish…we thoroughly enjoyed it and didn’t need to eat again till dinner!!!!!! HIGHLY recommend staying here!!!

Came for one night for the food as we had read good reports and were not disappointed, it was excellent both dinner and breakfast. We had a small dog and found a dog towel, treats, poo bags and a feeding mat provided in the room and also in the bar area. Nice clean room and bathroom. It would have been nice for the heating to have been on before arrival as it was cold, but was nice and warm after our walk from the electric heater and towel rail

Excellent stay, been here a couple of times now. Food is great - breakfast gives plenty of options for all tastes (full Scottish to granola and fruit). Lunch and dinner and good pub style offerings. Rooms are generally a good size and nicely decorated. Some rooms can be a bit noisy depending on where you are in the property. Rooms downstairs at the front of the boat house ( the building on the other side of the car park to the main building/pub/restaurant) are quieter whereas rooms at the back and upstairs you can hear guests in other rooms.
