Stayed 3 nights

We stayed at Reef & Beach Resort and had a mixed experience, with both positive highlights and some significant drawbacks. Upon arrival, we were assigned a ground-floor room located next to a building under renovation. This resulted in constant noise, construction dust, and workers moving back and forth outside the room throughout the day and evening. It was simply not acceptable as a place to stay, so we requested a room change. Unfortunately, this was not offered unless we agreed to pay for an upgrade. We chose to do so and were moved to a room with a private pool on the opposite side of the resort. While the upgraded room was quieter, it came with its own issue. The pool area was surrounded by flowering plants with heavy pollen, which discolored the water and even turned our swimwear yellow. Room cleaning was acceptable, but hygiene standards in the restaurants—and especially the bar—were concerning. After three days at the resort, both of us suffered from what appeared to be traveler’s stomach, which we believe may be linked to the cleanliness levels. The staff were generally friendly, but interactions felt somewhat impersonal, and it was difficult to build any real connection. Security at the resort was handled by Maasai guards, which in itself was reassuring, but they were also actively trying to sell excursions and other services. This created an uncomfortable mix of roles that did not feel appropriate. On the positive side, the location of the resort is truly idyllic.

I really enjoyed my stay. I would recommend this resort — great food variety, friendly staff members, and lots of things to do at the resort. The pool is great, and the beach area is amazing with breathtaking views and sightseeing.

Very quiet and wonderful resort. Staff very friendly and helpful. Our room service was excellent. Unfortunately, a lot of renovations and construction was taking place during our stay. The monkeys are sometimes very amusing, but their poop is sometimes annoying.

I don't know where to start. This has been the most concerning stay I've ever tried. For sure not near a 4 star hotel as they state in their website, hotels.com, Google, etc. Bad service, employees didn't do anything to help and don't care about you and to solve the issues. They couldn't care less if you have a good vacation or not. On three cases employees became rude because we had questions. The English level with these employees is so bad that it's difficult to have a normal conversation. It ended up causing several times where we paid extra money because the employees don't speak proper English and saying drinks are included when it's not. We came from Kiwengwa Beach Resort and this was a completely different experience (extraordinary), so it's isolated to this place. Only person who wanted to help was the Guest Relations employee. Basides the above: - don't trust the pictures you see. Hotel room is very different - prices at this hotel is so way of with the current quality and standard - extremely bad wifi - there's no food to buy ouside all inclusive opening hours and the hotel is 6 km. from nearest supermarket - hotel was under renovation close to our room whole day for most of the stay. Lastly became sick of the food and is still struggling with my stomach (4 days after). I saw raw chicken in the food the days after this. Never recommending this place to anyone. It's the most chaotic hotel I've visited.
