Seahorse Inn Manhattan Beach - LAX

The onsite restaurant is currently not operational and appears to be in transition to a future restaurant. Beds and decor was outdated. Bed description didn’t match what was received. Upon check in was offered an upgraded room option for additional fees. The rooms that have been renovated appear to be really nice. Motel may be renovating portions at a time until completed. Pool was not serviced, green, and not updated in description as closed for maintenance. Nearby Target, Manhattan Village, restaurants, and beach

Only thing we didn't like was the need to climb stairs for all rooms.

Front desk staff was very welcoming and room very clean. Everything a bit dated but charming. Pillows weren’t great. Everything worked in the room and parking was abundant.

This is a "hidden gem" of sorts because of its great location, affordability, friendly staff, comfortable rooms and free parking (including some covered spots). I only stayed 1 night, but because it's less than a mile to the beach I spent a lot of time at the beach, walking to some cool breweries and restaurants, and even going for a run in the area. There's such a laidback, friendly vibe in this area, and the staff matches that with their friendly service with a smile.

Pool was not useable. green. Trafic noise. Room was so outdated had to upgrade to newer room.

Perfect place to stay if you have a night left in California and want to be close to the ocean, coffee, food AND the airport. The pool was clean, the staff was super friendly, and the vibes were retro but totally clean. I will definitely go back.

The staff was very nice and helpful. The pool was clean and the room was maintained everyday. We always had fresh towels when we cam back to to room.

Overall, it was a great location and Hotel. The ice machines were not working which made it inconvenient. We had the family room which was wonderful with 3 beds. Would have liked a fan or something in the room with 3rd bed as it got a little hot in there with only the ac out front. The bathroom was a little small for family room and took a little while for the shower water to get hot. Coffee maker in room would have been nice and microwave. but it did have a mini fridge which was great. Overall, great Hotel. The staff was amazing and very nice! Would definitely stay again!

Advertised as having a clean pool. In reality, the pool was dirty and empty. No water at all. The hotel is terribly run down.

In the morning, when I was ready to check out, I noticed bugs running on the floor and the window. I hope I didn't take their eggs with me. The bed cover is old, the room needs a renovation.

The beds were so uncomfortable. And my room had a bunch of ants in it. Check was convenient though.

Staff was kind and attentive. Room, while a bit dated, was clean and comfortable. I slept in earplugs, because it's on a busy road, and there was construction across the street, but it was fine. I really appreciated the parking and being walking distance to multiple restaurants and, most importantly, the beach. A short drive to Trader Joe's and has a fridge and microwave in the room. I would definitely come back here. It's a great part of Manhattan Beach.

It's time for room updates. Outdated in many areas--bedding, carpet, television, etc. No real anemities in the room, not even the basics, i.e. an ironing board, but no iron, no coffee machine, no phone (to even contact front desk). Room smelled very stuffy and there's no ventilation system in the bathroom, hence small window had to be left open. Must allow water to run in the sink for about 2 minutes otherwise the smell of it (that of the release of air from the body after being captured for many days inside the body after a diet consisting of boiled eggs only) will not allow a human and the smell to coexist in the small space. However, front desk staff was very nice, check in process was smooth, and while anemeties were lacking, requests were quickly addressed and fulfilled. Customer service is KEY and scores big for me. We spent very little time in the room and we knew this beforehand, thus--the room, the room worked for us for our 4 day stay in the area.

The room had a moldy smell, and the TV had no connection. Although the cleaning staff were friendly and professional, their performance did not make up for the poor management of the facility.

Closer to the beach but not sure if it was worth the old and dirty conditions of the room. Free parking was nice but we still drove to the beach and paid to park. Zero soap or conditioner in the shower and room reeked of marijuana. We had to buy air freshener from the nearby target to kill the smell. Linens from the 1980s and the TV never connected to channels without static.

Room had most everything needed in it and was clean, but quite dated with some paint peeling. Hard to sleep: Hot, stuffy room, and A/C wall unit blasted off and on loudly all night, waking me up regularly. Even "downstairs" rooms required lugging suitcases up two small sets of stairs. Would not recommend unless you cannot afford anywhere else.

We enjoyed the renovated room very much. It has a great shower very comfortable bed and plenty of room. Also note a real mid sized refrigerator microwave and lots of cabinet space. Very nicely designed with modern aminities and good location to freeqay and coastline.

Good stay in LA. Safe area, nice staff and enough Parking space. Highly recommend booking a remodeled „Premium“ room. These rooms are very nice with a great value for the price.

The basic rooms are spacious and clean, a little dated but overall good for the price. The premium rooms are recently renovated and very nice and spacious too. Good city views too. The staff and their customer service are top notch, great communication and friendly. Highly recommend for budget travellers, and those staying around the airport

It’s an older hotel but the rooms are redone and in great shape. The only complaint I have is the road noise. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Would stay there again.

The staff was top-notch. I was struggling on how to leave this review because it’s hard to leave a proper review for the property as a whole, because depending on which room you book, it’s as if you are in two completely different hotels. It seems like they are in the middle of a remodeling project. I saw photos of the hotel on Google and booked based on those photos and then when I walked into the room, it was as if I was in a motel from 40 years ago. So then I went into the Expedia app and saw that the photos did match the subpar room that I had just walked into. So then I took a walk around the block and considered if I have to just suck it up and accept it because my time was limited or if I complain. So I went to the front desk and they said that I had booked a standard room and that an upgraded room would be an additional $30 a night which altogether came to an additional 60 or 70 bucks. When they showed me the upgraded room, it was as if I was in a completely different hotel. It was jarring how much better than my original room this new upgraded room was. So I decided to pay the extra and take the remodeled room. The rest of the day was good. The cost was probably reasonable? And I get it, if you’re in the middle of a remodeling project, some of the rooms are gonna be upgraded. But the quality difference between these two rooms was comical. Anyway, the staff was great. If I knew I was gonna pay the extra amount I would’ve probably chose in a different hotel

The room was newly remodeled, clean and contemporary, great lighting and super comfortable bed! The kitchenette had a full fridge and keurig, counters and storage drawers. On the down side, so modern there was no shelf in shower for shampoo, no towel bar to hang used towel near shower or sink areas, no breakfast at thid time. The tv did not operate, but in all fairness we did not report to fix, too late to bother. Air conditioner was extrrmely loud had to turn off to sleep. People were wandering around talking loud after hours, slamming doors.

I've stayed here multiple times. Great location close to the beach and many restaurants and shopping options. Bed is very comfortable and staff is nice and attentive. Only complaint is the tv in my room could not get any live TV channels to work so I had to watch the on demand app. No biggie

This place is right on a major street so don’t expect tranquility - at night it’s fairly quiet but an occasional siren may wake up light sleepers. I stayed in a renovated room which was very nice with clean modern, minimalist decor and LED lighting, built in wireless charging in the nightstands and desk. But the faucet was already showing serious mineral deposits - hard water. Bed is very firm but was otherwise comfortable.

Very friendly staff. Any issue we had they were quick to fix or make accommodations for us.

Excellent property. New rooms look very nice. The hotel it’s being remodeled so there are some construction materials around but it should be temporary. The best part is the staff. The owner is the one in charge of the front desk and he has excellent customer service. Makes you feel like family. I have never left a review in all the times I’ve travelled but this property and his owner really went above and beyond in the way he treats his customers. The location of the hotel is very safe and convenient close to hermosa beach

Hotel staff are above and beyond!

When I checked in, there was no electricity in my room. I asked for another room and the employee said indignantly that I would have to pay more. After about half an hour, he made some calls and was able to fix the electricity, but there was no apology. The room was very loud with traffic noise. Next time will go to the Wave hotel—same price but better rooms and service.

Manager wanted to argue about everything. He was more concerned with his feelings than actually doing what was right for the customer. He kept fulfilling promises he could not deliver. IT WAS AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MY TIME AND ONE OF THE LEAST ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCES EVER WITH A HOTEL!!! THE MANAGER TRIES TO MAKE THE REALLY SIMPLE REALLY DIFFICULT. . . I WILL NEVER BE BACK AND YOU SHOULD NEVER GO THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! YOUR TIME IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN TO HAVE TO LISTEN TO ONE WORD THIS GUY HAS TO SAY ;) HE WILL PROVIDE ZERO VALUE AND WASTE YOUR TIME!!!! ;(

Walking distance to Manhattan Beach (20 mins) and easy access to the rest of Los Angeles. Staff was friendly and room was in good shape (newly refurbished?). Hotel looks a little worn out on the outside but don't bother about that. Value for money and you easily park your car for free.

I enjoyed our stay here. We only stayed for one night but location is great next to the beaches and this was reasonably priced compared to other hotels and motels in the area. The owner was working the front desk and he was very friendly. It’s clean, good accommodation at a decent price in a great location. Definitely recommend.

The location was perfect, 8 minutes from Hermosa Beach Pier, huge rooms with a comfortable bed, no elevator but the stairs are easy to navigate, I will stay here again...I felt very safe leaving my fishing gear in bed of truck, ice machine worked perfect....

Affordable. But I was disappointed there was no coffee in the room or anywhere on the property. I was told they are planning on opening an on premises restaurant (that is currently closed).

At our arrival we had a little of a problem with the A/C unit. They where quik to fix it. The place is a bit old. Has no Micro and/or coffee mashine in the rooms.

Cheap older hotel with minimal amenities, don't expect too much. No microwave or kettle/coffee maker in the room. TV doe not have youtube.
