We stayed in a State Room, which was nicely decorated and came with a spacious and pretty bathroom. The room was really comfortable. Location is great - convenient and few-minutes walk to Fremantle Markets, shops and dining places. There’s some limited parking spaces but we managed to park there as needed. Service staff were helpful and friendly. Only minor complaint is that the corridors outside the lifts and the floor of our room could be vacuumed a little more.

Lovely place, free bike hire on 3 speed cruiser in good condition. Very bikeable town and trails. Clean, friendly, and complimentary happy hour. Also enjoyed the coffee bar!

Lovely little hotel. Excellent for access to main cafe strip in Fremantle. Disappointed that I couldn’t get parking for the first night of my stay and very surprised that at least one parking bay is not allocated to each room. Something to definitely improve on.

Great service. Small compact room but everything you wanted was included. Very clean and tidy. Receptionists couldn’t be faulted, extremely helpful. Great touch of free drink everyday. Only bad side was the Washing Machine and Dryer really do need renewing. We only managed to wash a third of our load but it took nearly all day to dry it.

Considering the price we paid to stay at this property, we found it pretty disappointing. We had to park our car in the public car park down the road for an extra $40 for the night as their car park was full. The room was very small and basic. Tea and coffee supplied but if you want milk you have to ask at reception for it. There is no mini bar. Very central location though and rooms were clean and fresh.

Complimentary evening wine or beer and cheese was wonderful. Continental breakfast was very nice. Free coffee all day was good. Rooms were miniscule. Not even a chair to sit in.

Room was spotless, amenities were perfect, breakfast was wonderful: simple but delicious - needed nothing more. Staff were friendly always. Fantastic location. Would book in again when visit Freemantle and have already told colleagues about the hotel.

The rooms were very small with not much storage space for your belongings, our room door was left open all afternoon by house keeping on day 2 which made us very uncomfortable to know our belongings were all on show. Further to this housekeeping often wasn’t completed until the late afternoon when we were attempting to get ready for dinner. The hotel also take a $350 bond on arrival which is not disclosed at time of booking. The rooms also have an open plan bathrooms which may not be suitable unless sharing with a partner. However the hotels location was great and your can walk to most places in Fremantle. If you do have a car it is $30 a day to park at the hotel if they have a spot available for you otherwise parking around the hotel is by the hour.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hougoumont Hotel. The lady who assisted me to check-in was lovely, even allowing me to do so a bit earlier than 2pm and helping with my booking. The design of the hotel was beautiful, bespoke and clean. My room was enough space for me and very clean. The breakfast was simple and enjoyable. I had no issues during my stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back.

A 10 minute walk from Fremantle railway station, and just around the corner from Market Street, location is great. Ship’s cabin style rooms were a little small, but the bathroom was adequate. Complimentary continental breakfast of muesli, yoghurt, fruit and toast very good. Next door to the hotel is a quirky bar where hotel guests were offered a free wine or beer and cheese plate every evening. Add to this tea and coffee and bottled water available all day and I think this is good value for money.

Pros Conveniently located in an area surrounded by restaurants and cafes. Limited parking next to Hotel, so ensure that you reserve it with the Hotel, if you don't mind paying AUD25/night. Cons - Additional roll away bed was paid for and confirmed prior. However upon check in (at about 7pm), it wasn't ready; we were asked to return in about half an hour. - In-room safe wasn't working; reception had to provide physical key to operate the safe manually (reception was previously informed about it but wasn't rectified until a reminder was given). The staff at reception was quite apologetic though. - Air conditioning was intermittently and automatically switched off every few hours. Was told the air conditioning would be reset but it didn't help.

It is always a treat to stay with Hougoumont and we stay there anytime we are visiting Fremantle. Everything is close, the ammenities are excellent and the staff offer warm and individualised interactions. The complimentary breakfast is perfect to start the day and the happy hour is a great way to commence and evening exploring Freo’s bars and restaurants. The room’s are not huge but hit the spot in comfort and class. Sheets and towels are exactly what I love about hotel stays Will we be back, yep, again and again Tip: book parking and make use of the comp bikes

I booked this hotel last minute & everyone was so accommodating to me! I loved this hotel, the room was lovely, they even left a personalized note for me. The breakfast was lovely and all of my requests were accepted. This was a wonderful first stay in Perth!

I loved everything about this hotel, friendly service, early check in as room was available. An upgrade. Room was spotless with a welcome message written on the mirror, lovely touch. Experienced some unidentified noise through the night and although the hotel was at capacity the staff were able to find us another, upgraded room, to which they moved our belongings while we were out enjoying the local sights. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us over the weekend and were extremely helpful and lovely. Also a great hotel in a fantastic area.

So many hotels and other accommodation offer guests a check-in to be as late as possible and check-out early. To me, this negates the premise of a ‘stay’. Thank you to the management of the Hougoumont for recognising the value of being made to feel welcome, we had a wonderful stay!

Nice enough room and in a great central location. Unfortunately staff very unfriendly/unhelpful and to say ‘breakfast’ is included is a stretch. A reasonable stay but not worth the expense in my opinion.

We were upgraded for free on arrival. Friendly efficient staff. Comfortable and clean hotel room. Great location. Lovely breakfast and we enjoyed the wine and cheese.

A 10 minute walk from Fremantle railway station, and just around the corner from Market Street, location is great. Ship’s cabin style rooms were a little small, but the bathroom was adequate. Complimentary continental breakfast of muesli, yoghurt, fruit and toast very good. Next door to the hotel is a quirky bar where hotel guests were offered a free wine or beer and cheese plate every evening. Add to this tea and coffee and bottled water available all day and I think this is good value for money.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Hougoumont! We received a very warm welcome upon arrival, the room was comfortable and clean, the nightly drinks & nibbles at the micro brewery bar next door were superb and the continental breakfast set us up perfectly for each day. All the staff were lovely and friendly, the location is unbeatable - right in the centre of Freo and close to the Rottnest ferry - and we will definitely be staying here again next time we are in Freo!

Great location. Close to bars,restaurants and shopping . Staff were very personable and welcoming . Room was very comfortable and well appointed. Would highly recommend .

This was our second time here. I was unsure about being in the ground floor this time but the upgraded room offered was really great. We stayed for the night tot attend a concert and wished we stayed for the extra night. Plenty of restaurants and cafes all within walking distance. Right in the heart of freo but no noise. We will be back again for sure.

Room was spotless, amenities were perfect, breakfast was wonderful: simple but delicious - needed nothing more. Staff were friendly always. Fantastic location. Would book in again when visit Freemantle and have already told colleagues about the hotel.

Great little hotel in the heart of Freo. Nice little evening touch with a free drink and help yourself snacks in open back bar area. Unfortunately the continental breakfast is very 'hit and miss'and a bit of a shambles to be honest. We had two breakfasts ,each time we had to ask for milk, butter and even water for the kettle for tea. Its basically toast and jam ,the bread may have seen better days.

Clean room, comfortable bed, good shower, perfectly central location, really interesting building. The free drink/cheese tasting for guests is a lovely touch. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was my second stay here and we were on the ground floor this time - the upper level rooms are better for noise levels. Just a note for privacy considerations if you’re not travelling alone - the bathroom was just separated by a frosted glass partition/door.

Most area around hotel closed up early by 9p so not much to do. Room temp could not be controlled so they kept just cool enough to be uncomfortable Breakfast was just bread and yogurt

We chose this hotel because of the excellent reviews and wanted something right in the centre of Freo. We were prepared for the room to be small because of being a converted sea container so that was not a surprise and it was perfect for what we were after. Spotlessly clean and well designed. The other bonuses certainly made up for this. The free drinks and nibbles around the fire pit at bar next door, the basic breakfast that was included was totally fine and beautifully presented. The bread was amazing from the special bakery. Loved following the historical background of the hotel in the foyer. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We parked in hotel car park which was a bit steep at $35 per night. There were only about 5 or 6 cars parked there so I guess guests must have found cheaper alternatives. Or maybe just a quiet time. I would definitely recommend for a short one or 2 night stay. Thank you.
