The Rome Motel

The place we pulled into was a totally different place then what was pictured on the website. There was no one in the office, a person strolled through and told us there were no rooms available even though we had a reservation. On the office counter, was a sign saying that cash was the only acceptable payment method. The place was run down and not worth staying at even if there had available rooms.

Run,do not walk away from this place! I booked online, the owner said he never looks at the online bookings. There is a hand written note on the desk, it's cash only. He took us over to our room,… Went inside said he wanted to make sure everything worked. My boyfriend went to use the bathroom, he came out and said we were leaving. It was filthy dirty. The gentleman that was booked next-door to us, asked to bum a cigarette off my boyfriend, – and then while I was taking my stuff out of the van and bringing it into the room, – my boyfriend came in and said we are leaving. Our neighbor told him that he was from the psychiatric ward and that was where they placed him and he wanted to use our microwave because he didn’t have one in his room. So, I grabbed my stuff out of the room and we left. Before we left, I had checked the bed and the mattress was all stained and had crumbs under the blanket, and it looked like there was a squished cockroach on the wall above the bed. There were no towels, – there was water damage on the ceiling, where there was a hole. This motel should not even be listed on this website. I would ask for a refund, however they only take cash! Fortunately, – my boyfriend gave me back my hundred bucks. So if you are in Rome, New York, – do not go to the Rome motel.

Was turned away before check-in for lack of rooms even though I had a reservation. Not the property pictured on the site.

No one came to the desk, upon our arrival. I could hear a tv on, and tried to get someone’s attention to no avail. There weee no other vehicles, not one, in the parking lot. So I guess everyone who did try to check in, got the same treatment. I will never book this motel again. I won’t recommend it to enemies!

Wish I could give negative stars. Desk clerk did not know price quoted in app and could not make change to my cash payment when he said no credit cards. First two rooms had non-functioning toilets and third had “not been used in a while” per the barefoot clerk who tried to mop up liquid on floor after moving refrigerator into its place in room. He never got the towels, toilet paper and soap we requested to make the 3rd room a possible stay. We asked for cash back to leave for a different place that met minimum standards, but he refused, so we left and lost $100.
