Gaido's Seaside Inn

The only things that made the stay great were the amenities (pool, spa, & breakfast) along with the great people that work at the redfish/pool area, plus the nice lady that was cleaning the breakfast area. The pool and spa were awesome, along with the convenient bar/food right by the spa. Furthermore, what made the experience bad was the cleanliness and the rude front desk lady who was also serving the hot foods in the mornings (egg, sausage, & biscuits). The night we got there, we went to check in and that older lady was not welcoming at all. She had a very bad attitude and unwelcoming demeanor along with her tone of voice like she didn’t want to be there. She also gave us the wrong room and we almost opened the door on a sleeping family but thankfully we knocked because we had a feeling and he opened the door all confused. We had to walk back and forth to get a new card for the correct room. The next morning that same lady was serving the hot foods and she seemed irritated because I didn’t know how it worked and griped at me to give her my plate. As far as the cleanliness, the main issue was that there were roaches all in the room— crawling in the restroom and over the dresser. It was so gross, plus the refrigerator was dirty and the towels had hair on them.

Great location, walking distance to the pier. Beach access across the street, two minute walk. Motel is run down and old. Furniture is nice but that’s about it. Towels were poor and thin. Pool is big and has a great view of the beach including a Jacuzzi. Has a nice outdoor bar and restaurant. Food at the restaurant was delicious. They have live music Friday evenings during the summer. Bed was not comfortable. They only provide a thin sheet as your comforter. Expensive for the quality of the motel, but you can’t beat the location or the pool compared to other hotels in the area. Free breakfast buffet was absolutely disgusting I would not consider that a breakfast. Plenty of parking available. Overall, I would stay here again only for the location, Pool and Bar. Booked a double queen with pool and ocean front view.

This is a great place to stay if you are going on a cruise. Our room was clean and was totally what we expected. The grounds and pool were nice. It was great to have a couple of restaurants within walking distance that had delicious food. The only downside was not having an elevator and 2 of the ice machines were out of service and when we went to the working ice machine, it was out of ice.

Parking is terrible but the stay wasn’t bad. The room is a little retro but not too bad. Breakfast was the bomb! The pool is nice if it’s not too crowded. Smelling the food next door makes you have to buy something. Overall the stay was good.

Check-in was easy enough, once we figured out where to go. The beds were comfortable, pool area is super nice (there was even a live band there one night! Love the location, directly across/walkable from the beach. The only real issue was that we picked this hotel partially for the Observation Deck, but it had apparently been damaged and was closed 😔

Didn’t like the fact that pool is available to non-hotel guests. They had to pay a fee to use but also took up parking spaces. Made the pool crowded for guests who were staying at hotel. Did enjoy the freshly cooked breakfast each day and the availability of fresh tea and coffee 24 hrs a day.

Nice place. Very nice beach and ocean views and a nice restaurant. Even if not staying in a room with a view, there’s a great observation deck. Great location - close to everything. Best complimentary breakfast I’ve had in any of the hotels in this price range I’ve stayed in thus far. Raw oysters for $1/each at Nicks next door - 3-6pm.

It is a bit dated. The room we stayed in was not properly cleaned. I requested that they come in and clean it and they did.

**DIRTY & DISGUSTING** Do not believe the reviews. There were roaches in our ice bucket, poop stains in the toilet and the bathtub was dirty. The air conditioner had car air fresheners stuck to the grate, so the room stunk. The bathroom doorknob also looked like someone had been held captive there. We left immediately and checked in somewhere else, even losing the cost of our 2-night stay.

The rooms were supposed to have queen size bed and they were full sized bed. Found popcorn and a pair of shorts. Towel had yellow stains on it. Looked like it hadn’t been updated since they open. We did like the convenience.

Very dirty and old rooms. There was a big roach in the bathroom too.

Pictures are very misleading. The pool area is ok. The room is tiny, old and filthy. The thick layer of dust in the light fixtures, the dirty bathroom floor, small refrigerator was old and rusty. The only clean room if you ask, including changing towels. Parking is awful. Would not stay there again.

this place is felty dirty the rooms looks like they havent been clean for months really months, bathtub cloged please do yourself a favor keep away from this place on your trip to galveston

This property is advertised as a seaside hotel, right, but our room smelled musty and damp, so damp that when we got home, our clothes felt wet. They tried to adjust the air conditioning, but when the maintenance man opened it up and took it apart, I’ve never seen so much dirt, dust, and filth in one place. You could tell they had fixed some things in the room, but not the air conditioning and also not the low ceilings in the bathroom and sink area. There was so much dirt in the ceiling sections. It was just awful. They fixed some of the tile in the bathroom and yet the grout around the floor entryway to the bathroom bathtub was positively gross. We always wanted to stay at this place, great location overlooking the gulf , because we thought it looked charming, but unfortunately, we won’t be back. I will say the pool area is very nice for families with children. They seemed to be having a great time. The adjoining restaurants could not be better, but the old original seaside Inn is too old and worn out.

The sheets on one of the beds at check in had blood on the top and bottom sheets. The second bed’s mattress cover was filthy with lots of dirt and stains. Management did send housekeeping who changed the sheets on the first bed and then laid a mattress protection pad and additional fitted sheet over the dirty mattress pad without changing the dirty and stained mattress pad.

The location, the resort feel of the grounds & pool, restaurants on site were all excellent. Our room had a very big lack of closet to hang anything but overall we had comfortable stay

this is a traditional motel. the cars park right up close to the front doors of the rooms. the rooms are old but clean-ish. the shower is fine as is the A/C. there is no safe in the rooms. the walls are very thin, and there is noise from the neighboring rooms and the street. when we arrived, some plebs in the parking area were unfortunately playing loud music from their cars at midnight, unhindered by the motel staff. the pool is ok, and its a short walk across the street to the beach. the breakfast was unhealthy. the photos of the motel on Expedia make the motel look a lot more attractive than it actually is. I would say that if you plan only to sleep at the motel, then perhaps it's ok. but that might not even be true as it's noisy throughout the night

ROOMS OUTDATED.

Its a dive motel. Its definitely a vibe. Its perfect for what it is. It was clean and safe. I am a single female and i never felt unsafe. The location is perfect.

The room felt clean-ish. The bathroom needed work especially the shower which we didn’t even use because of how gross it looked. There were knobs missing from the closet door, wallpaper peeling off the walls, a light fixture hanging crooked like it was about to fall down. Only one outlet actually worked so it made charging devices tricky. The bathroom had holes where things may have at one time been attached to the wall. The soap dispenser was rusty & broken. The ac worked great! This is not somewhere id book again as the room was just not up to the standard of other choices on the island. It’s the perfect location & the staff seemed pleasant enough so its a same the rooms were just not nice.

The lady who checked me in was very rude and told me the wrong directions to my room, opposite side of the hotel. I had to climb stairs several times to find my room and I was already tired from a 9 hour drive. When I asked 2 housekeeping ladies were my room was 1 ignored me and the other talked on her phone and just shook her head at me while saying “no”. Neither even tried helping me. After going back to the office I was finally told correct directions by a 3rd lady working behind the desk. The room was nice but needs some attention to detail cleaning - windows had hand prints, shelves were dusty, foot print on bathroom door, bedding stained… needs a deep clean!!! Unfolded linens in the cabinet by the door, broken fridge door handle, rug/flooring looks 100 years old. I was told at check in housekeeping doesn’t come to the room unless we let them know the night before, when I called to ask for new towels and washcloths I was told I needed to bring them to the office and get my own. I’ve never had a hotel tell me to bring them my dirty stuff, very rude and bad customer care. I never took my stuff to the office, I went to Walmart and bought my own.

The desk attendant impressed me. I could not figure out how to work the television. Without hesitation, he came to my room and showed me how. Thank goodness:)

The staff was very helpful. The rooms were clean. The air-condition in the first room we were given did not work. The staff quickly gave us a different room quickly. I liked the fact that there is a restaurant/bar with it and it had a nice pool.

Check in staff was less than friendly or helpful. I asked about the shuttle services to the cruise ships and he pointed to a list stuck on the wall. I asked about price for a local shuttle and he told me $30.00 one way for two. We took Uber for $12.95 for two. Room was very small. Property was not even half full he gave us a room on the 2nd floor— I am 78 and my wife is 75. We won’t be back.

Person that checked us in was welcoming. The person that checked us out never said a word, never asked how our stay was, was everything good, did we enjoy our stay? I was going to tell her about 2 issues in the room but since she didn’t care, why should I?

We booked this hotel for our anniversary, willing to overlook that it looked old, worn, and in need of maintenance. Unfortunately, what happened during our stay was unacceptable. About an hour after check-in, while my wife and I were in bed, maintenance opened our door trying to let other guests into our room. The front desk admitted it was a mistake, but it was a serious invasion of privacy and dignity. Their response was unprofessional and showed no real understanding of how upsetting this was. Later, when we returned from the beach, our keys didn’t work. We called the front desk again, only to be met with rudeness and blame from the staff. Instead of an apology, we were told “we’re allowed to make mistakes.” At that point, we decided to check out early. In hospitality, customer service should be exceptional — a warm greeting, attentive service, and accountability when something goes wrong. None of that was present here. The management should be ashamed of such poor training and disregard for guests. I strongly caution anyone considering staying here: you deserve better. There are other hotels in Galveston at the same price that will treat you with respect and provide a much better experience.

We Love Our Stays at Gaidos & we Always stay there every time we come to Galveston!! When we Finally got there after 11p Our Favorite Young Lady was there to check us in. Can’t Remember her name but she was there last year when we came down. She is Amazing & Always Makes us Feel Welcome. Thanks for Everything!! The Crawford’s

The location of the hotel is directly across the road from the beach. Hotel is of older age, but the room was decorated with character and was comfortable. Enjoyed the chairs outside on the balcony. The free breakfast offered the next morning made this place a true gem to stay at. The ladies in the breakfast room were welcoming and the choice of breakfast foods were amazing. I hope those ladies are there the next time we visit. They are the true charm of the hotel.

Gaido’s is a cute little beach hotel with friendly service! They provide an excellent location, pool, free breakfast and parking. The room is simple but comfortable. For the price and location you can't beat it! Will stay again!

We loved our stay here! The property is older, but the room was clean, we loved the pool, food/drinks, and how close the beach was! We will be back!

Location to the beach was excellent. Rooms are basic. Nice balcony with Adirondack chairs and a great ocean view.

Very convenient to everything and clean. Good price for what you get, it is a beachfront inn. So, keep that in mind when booking. I will definitely be going back...

Very cute and well kept king suite with an ocean view and a retro summer beach house feel. The restaurant next door has wonderful seafood and craft beer. I’d recommend the stuffed shrimp. The raw oysters taste like they’re caught five minutes before being served. They’re $1 from 3-6pm! Also….the continental breakfast here is, so far, the best I’ve had. And, incidentally, I’ve had the pleasure of staying in quite a few of the hotels in this area.

The view from our room was incredible. Conveniently located near the beach. The breakfast was excellent!

Great hot breakfast, would stay again!

This is an older (classic) property that is right across the street from the gulf and beach. It’s been here a long time. Room was clean and comfortable with some vintage touches. Pool looked very nice, but we did not use it on our short one day stay. Breakfast was good, but food could have been much hotter.

We loved this place. We needed a place to stay the night before our cruise. Gaido's offered a great rate an a week of free parking! The motel is basic but very clean and quaint. It's right on Seawall Blvd and right next to two of Gaido's outstanding restaurants. The beds were comfortable. And it's a no smoking, no pets property so, thankfully, I didn't have to deal with allergy issues. We would definitely stay here again.
