Great little place for a stay near Selfoss. The rooms are clean and easy parking. Hot tub and sauna out back is a nice addition, and the free breakfast in the morning had a wide selection, from waffles and pancakes to bacon and eggs. Boutique hotel just outside Selfoss in the middle of a picturesque location nestled in the hills. Rooms are spacious and well-equipped. The sauna and the hot tub are exactly as advertised. Breakfast had a lot of options and they also has some cakes and cookies at all hours in the lobby. Overall very good experience and would definitely come back.

We loved this hotel. Lovely staff, and great facilities. Breakfast was great, and hot drinks and juice available all the time. The two hot tubs would have been a great place to watch the northern lights from had it not been cloudy! Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The man at the front desk was extremely friendly. The room was dimly lit and had two twin beds instead of the double bed I booked. It was also stuffy and got downright hot overnight. They only gave us one towel for two people, which we only discovered at 5 a.m. when needing to leave at 6a. The front desk is not staffed 24/7; it closes at 11p and reopens…sometime after 6:15a (not sure of when). The bathroom wall showed obvious signs of water damage. I would probably look elsewhere if I needed a room in the area in the future.

Our stay at Hotel Kvika was great!! We had an overnight flight and were able to check into our room early to get some much needed rest. The room was small (as most European rooms are) but comfortable, and the bathroom was small but had everything you need. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast that was included was great! They also had a coffee machine available 24 hours a day with great cappuccinos and hot chocolate. The 10am out was a bit early, but we had plenty planned for our first, real day in Iceland, so it was fine. There are plenty of little nooks to sit and relax, and the sunroom was a great space to take in the view. We would 100% stay here again.

We were checking in late and I received a call to give me Instructions on check in, door code etc. when we arrived the lobby was closed and dark. There was a personal note on the desk with tea lights with our room number and key, breakfast info etc. There were snacks left out for us. Fruit, cakes, juice etc. The room was very spacious, clean, furniture mismatched, making it charming and eclectic! Beds were very comfortable. Very nice sitting areas off lobby with books and games. Did not use hot tub due to late arrival. Free breakfast was plentiful, with much variety. We stayed in a different hotel every night while in Iceland, and this was our favorite. In the middle of nowhere it was a true hidden gem. The personal phone call from the manager to confirm our arrival and leaving us snacks was awesome. There’s a lot to be said for the little things.The personal service was top notch. Morning clerk was a lovely young lady, very helpful to all the guests. Loved our stay, would definitely stay again. Such a wonderful.

If you need to stay in this general area, this is a basic hotel with no frills. The bathroom was really lacking with hardly any toiletries and a shower that barely worked. The included breakfast buffet, gets the job done, but it's nothing noteworthy. The staff did help correct a room problem from booking by offering a rollaway bed which made the stay feasible for one night. It is not close to restaurants, so plan accordingly as there are quite a few restaurants in the nearby town.

This was a gem of a find! The place was a wonderful place to spend the night. I wish we had been able to spend more time there. Wonderful check-in person gave us the lay of the land. Hot tubs and sauna in the back and a rocking full breakfast in the morning. Our room was also huge with two easy chairs and a sofa.

We loved this hotel. Lovely staff, and great facilities. Breakfast was great, and hot drinks and juice available all the time. The two hot tubs would have been a great place to watch the northern lights from had it not been cloudy! Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

By far the best value of the hotels we stayed in. A welcoming host who offered excellent travel advice, free cookies, cake, tea and coffee in the evening. Breakfast was the equal of hotels costing twice as much. Honestly, I was kind of sorry that this was the first hotel we stayed at in Iceland, because it made all the others seem disappointing! Would definitely go out of my way to stay here again.
By far the best value of the hotels we stayed in. A welcoming host who offered excellent travel advice, free cookies, cake, tea and coffee in the evening. Breakfast was the equal of hotels costing twice as much. Honestly, I was kind of sorry that this was the first hotel we stayed at in Iceland, because it made all the others seem disappointing! Would definitely go out of my way to stay here again.

We booked a stay in the morning on the very night. Unfortunately, the weather then considerably deteriorated and a red alert was enforced on the whole region, which prevented us from driving to the hotel. Considering the short delay between the booking and the red alert, we ask the hotel if we could make an arrangement regarding the reimbursement of the night, which was refused. We feel like this was an exceptional situation of “force majeure”, we haven’t use the facilities and it is likely that the booked room would not have been booked by someone else anyway due to the short delay. We feel like we have been robbed from our money and that this hotel takes advantage of tourists. I have been in other hotels where arrangements were possible despite a so-called “48h non-reimbursement policy”.

Boutique hotel just outside Selfoss in the middle of a picturesque location nestled in the hills. Rooms are spacious and well-equipped. The sauna and the hot tub are exactly as advertised. Breakfast had a lot of options and they also has some cakes and cookies at all hours in the lobby. Overall very good experience and would definitely come back.

Friendly, clean and well appointed hotel. Well away from light pollution so good for the Northern lights, not isolated as there are some other properties dotted around. Good buffet breakfast, but no restaurant, however the nearest town has a few good restaurants and is about 7km away. The hotel does have an evening bar however. We loved the spas baths and sauna that are on from mid afternoon and were wonderful after a full day seeing the sights.

Only stayed one night but it was very enjoyable. We booked a hotel room but were asked if we would move into out of the hotel’s own cabins. This was to help them accommodate a larger group that night. The hotel is situated in a geothermal area and so plenty of steam vents in the surrounding. We did not have the time but the local village has a ‘hot river’ within easy hiking distance. In fact just near our cabin was some sort of machinery that pumped out hot water and steam 24x7. Our breakfast was included and provided both hot and cold options. But terrible fruit juice. Would be a great first night stopover after travelling in to Reykjavik being only 40km drive away.

Great little place for a stay near Selfoss. The rooms are clean and easy parking. Hot tub and sauna out back is a nice addition, and the free breakfast in the morning had a wide selection, from waffles and pancakes to bacon and eggs. The lady at reception was very kind and welcoming. Thanks for the stay!

If you need to stay in this general area, this is a basic hotel with no frills. The bathroom was really lacking with hardly any toiletries and a shower that barely worked. The included breakfast buffet, gets the job done, but it's nothing noteworthy. The staff did help correct a room problem from booking by offering a rollaway bed which made the stay feasible for one night. Room carpet had black marks and is very dated with ragged towels Hot tub has green growing TV doesn’t work in room the guy who checked us in was very nice and said there was TV in common areas, didn’t work there either froze every two minutes WiFi didn’t work anywhere Breakfast was ok It was nice there were some cookies out all the time Good location but needs a lot of work

Good Clean room, very supportive staff. Good breakfast options and nice hot tub. Has lots of nooks or places for people to read or hangout outside of the room. Good choice for anyone's stay. Only slight downside is rooms are not very sound proof. Overall I would rate this a solid nothing wrong, but nothing overly special about it either. But does have very nice staff.
