It was a really nice, cozy country pub in a lovely location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean, with plenty of commodities. Lovely beers, relaxing atmosphere and great food in the evening. Breakfast was included with the room. We had the full breakfast and a coffee, it was delicious🙂 Decent pricing for the room, we will definitely be visiting again some time.

WHAT A FIND!!!! A real gem After being let down with our original booking, we found the Black Lion Hotel. It's set in a small, quiet village near the river. We had a superb evening meal, the pub was busy in both the bar and restaurant area all evening, which is always a good sign.... the food was superb, service was excellent The room we stayed in was quiet, clean, the bathroom was a good size, the bed was comfy. The breakfast in the morning was superb quality made from local produce. One of the owners Rachel, sat and chatted with us after breakfast about the local area and the pub itself, which was really nice as she were preparing for a very busy Father's Day carvery afternoon and evening Its definitely a place we will return too stay and also to eat... I would recommend highly to anyone

This hotel room was the best appointed one I have stayed in. Really careful consideration had gone into what you may need to make your stay more comfortable & it was. Excellent mirrors, hot water bottle, toiletries, storage and more. Very friendly service, great food, wonderful vegetarian option. Ample car parking. Lovely village to walk around & a pretty church to visit.

Had an excellent stay here. Room was good, food was superb including breakfast,free car park. Owner John made you feel very welcome. Would recommended especially if you are visiting anywhere in Snowdonia or North Wales coast.

Absolutely fantastic stay. We stayed one of two nights here. Had we realised how close we were to the places we wanted to explore we would have stayed here both nights. Definitely better than the second place we stayed by a mile. Staff very welcoming and helpful. We arrived late and not with much time before the kitchen closed but was able to check in, get our belongings to the room and still order food. Evening meal and breakfast fantastic. Room very nice, specious and comfortable. Really enjoyable and pleasant stay. Thank you.

A beautiful well maintained property in an idyllic area. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was spacious, clean and well lit. Bathroom was well provided and clean. Even had an hot water bottle provided. Food was excellent both at dinner and at breakfast. Superb accommodation and will be back as soon as possible.

Very welcoming and friendly, good pub food and an excellent breakfast. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, while despite it being a pub, noise was minimal. We would recommend this unconditionally. Thank you!

Travelling alone can be hit-or-miss. I was made very welcome by each member of staff and helped with my luggage. My room was fine: everything you’d expect, plus a nice touch: a hot water bottle, which I was glad of. Very nice en-suite bathroom with a generous range of shower and hair products. High points were the dinner: above average pub grub, the vegetarian breakfast and the happy staff team. Low point was a strange smell upstairs, like burnt carpet. I’d stay again.

We loved this hotel, in the lovely quaint village of Llanfair, less than 10 min drive from Aberegele High St. Staff were fantastic, and we had an evening meal and breakfast, which were both delicious. The bed was super comfy. Loved the local walks highlighted in the book in the room. Only downside was that there was a bit of a smell in the room, and mould round side of bath. But it didnt put us off, would definately book again 😊.

Lovely setting by river Elwy. Made to feel very welcome by the staff. Nice big clean room. King bed and a good nights sleep. Breakfast was well prepared and unrushed. Would recommend Black Lion and would certainly stay again.

Great flying visit. We arrived and had dinner which was lovely - great quality and price very reasonable! Rooms are lovely and clean, comfy bed & everything you need. Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, shout out to John who was extremely accommodating when it came to our breakfast as we were leaving early the day of check out! Thank you ☺️

We stayed for 4 nights at the Black Lion. The room was spacious and comfortable. If you wanted every day cleaning, then you would probably have to ask. For us, we found that ok. It is a very busy place and popular. The bed was comfortable. The shower is in the bath, which for me was a bit awkward, as I am in my 80s. The food was really good, breakfast and evening meals really tasty and filling. The hosts and all the staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Absolutely recommended.

Very comfortable rooms and friendly, helpful staff. The food was excellent and probably the best hotel breakfast we've ever had! Beautiful setting but unfortunately for the hotel and village, the nearby farmers chose to muck spread on the hottest days of the year! This meant that sitting outside next to the river in the sunshine personally wasn't an option for us. Highly recommend and hope to be able to visit again.

Arrived around 18.00, car park very busy but managed to find a space. Received a very friendly welcome and shown to our room. Our room was very spacious and well equiped. Breakfast was delicious. We had a lovely stay, slept well and would look to return.

We were pleasantly surprised by the location, next to a river and bridge. The hotel is well appointed with a welcoming staff. We had a front facing twin room which was spotlessly clean with a good selection of drinks and toiletries and comfortable. What really impressed us both was the staff member making sure to let them know if there was anything else we needed and specially John, the owner, coming over during our dinner, introducing himself and again making sure we were happy with everything. That is first class customer service!

WHAT A FIND!!!! A real gem After being let down with our original booking, we found the Black Lion Hotel. It's set in a small, quiet village near the river. We had a superb evening meal, the pub was busy in both the bar and restaurant area all evening, which is always a good sign.... the food was superb, service was excellent The room we stayed in was quiet, clean, the bathroom was a good size, the bed was comfy. The breakfast in the morning was superb quality made from local produce. One of the owners Rachel, sat and chatted with us after breakfast about the local area and the pub itself, which was really nice as she were preparing for a very busy Father's Day carvery afternoon and evening Its definitely a place we will return too stay and also to eat... I would recommend highly to anyone

The Black Swan is in a perfect spot to relax and walk about. The village is interesting and picture perfect. Location is handy for touring North Wales and Cheshire. The room was very comfortable and the pub and staff were friendly. Food delicious. Highly recommended.

Very comfortable rooms and friendly, helpful staff. The food was excellent and probably the best hotel breakfast we've ever had! Beautiful setting but unfortunately for the hotel and village, the nearby farmers chose to muck spread on the hottest days of the year! This meant that sitting outside next to the river in the sunshine personally wasn't an option for us. Highly recommend and hope to be able to visit again.

Situated in a beautiful village and on the banks of the River Elwy, the Black Lion Hotel couldn’t be in a more tranquil setting. After an excellent welcome, I was a shown to my very large room with first class amenities. My only grumble would be that the mattress was probably in need of changing but so nice to have fluffy pillows! Before dinner, I became engaged in good old fashioned pub conversation with some locals. Dinner was nicely presented and extremely hot (no complaints there!). The litmus test is: would I return. In the case of the. Back Lion Hotel the answer would be yes.

Had an excellent stay here. Room was good, food was superb including breakfast,free car park. Owner John made you feel very welcome. Would recommended especially if you are visiting anywhere in Snowdonia or North Wales coast.

Lovely setting by river Elwy. Made to feel very welcome by the staff. Nice big clean room. King bed and a good nights sleep. Breakfast was well prepared and unrushed. Would recommend Black Lion and would certainly stay again.

Check in was easy and welcoming, made sure we had a table for dinner as we arrived near to the kitchen closing. Key to room and building so could come and go as we pleased. Room was comfortable and cosy, had tea/coffee, heater, hair dryer, toiletries and extra pillows. One half of the bed was better than the other. The more used side near the door had a dip in it. Breakfast was decent, cereal or a cooked breakfast with juice, tea and coffee. Beautiful village and outdoor seating by the river. The only negative was unfortunately we used the bath and the bar staff knocked the door to say it was leaking through to the bar below. So we had to leave the water in the bath over night to prevent more flooding which meant the bathroom was full of condensation. It was also quite noisy until 1am, possibly due to football being on.

Very friendly, clean and cosy. All the staff were welcoming and the property was a lovely local pub with friendly locals. We only stayed 1 night on this occasion but we will definitely use this hotel again. Very reasonable rates that included breakfast and parking in a beautiful location. Thank you for a comfortable stay.
