Very easy to get to. Had great food and live music. My room was huge with very large windows that flooded the room with light. The tram was literally one block away.

Clean room, great staff, parking was okay but I had booked this hotel because it had parking and there were very limited spaces available and it’s on a first come basis. Luckily I managed to get a space. Also hotel details say it’s a 13 minute walk to Utilita Arena but when I Google-mapped it, it was actually 21 minutes - not a big deal but a bit misleading, especially if you have mobility issues.

Lovely little guest house with the restaurant below it. The person at the checkout was welcoming and friendly, he brought my luggage up for me to my room which is really helpful because there's no lift, only stairs. Food was delicious (Asian-approved spiciness) and staff was nice. On the Sat evening when I was there , there had been a live band playing outside the restaurant area, they had a stage for live performances. Lovely atmosphere with good food and music. Although if you're trying to get an early rest when a live band is playing (think it ends around 12am) , it would be a bit challenging.. Only thing I would say is that the room doors are not auto-locked so you'll need to remember to lock your room door every time you come out -but it's still relatively safe because they've a main door to the rooms that's auto-locked. During outside of restaurant hours, there won't be anyone there but I was able to safely leave my luggage at the reception before coming back to pick it up about 2 hours later without any issues since the main entrance is auto-locked. Would definitely come back to stay if I'm attending an event nearby again. It's situated in a nice area of Birmingham as well, and Morrisons is just across the road.

Arriving at the door with a phone number to ring isnt the warmest of welcomes. Given key and found room in a lovely building. Room was large, good wifi, has parking, close to a big Morrisons, lots of positives. No breakfast offered, did try the food in evening. Far too salty and expensive for what it was. Big homeless problem local. Would stay again.

On arrival at 3:30pm there was a telephone number to ring for check-in which worried us about what to expect. No one answered the phone number but then someone came to the door. He then phoned someone else who confirmed we were booked in. We were given our keys and instructions to enter the property ourselves. There was a restaurant set up but no one else around. It seemed more like an air bnb set up. Our room was very spacious, really lovely wallpaper and blinds. There was a mini fridge, tea and coffee supplies, a hanging rack and the bathroom contained both a double bath and a large shower cubicle. We were very happy with the room especially for the cost. There was free parking on the drive at the front of the property- this was limited so we were lucky with that. The quality bedding and bed were very comfortable and it was nice to have a couple of bucket chairs to sit in also. The room was spotless. In the morning we popped to Morrisons for a breakfast which was cheap and cheerful but filled the gap. We never saw another person at the hotel which felt a bit eerie but we heard people moving about so there were others there! We stayed as we went to a gig at the utilita arena and it was quite far from there but we got taxis so it was fine. I wouldn't recommend The blue piano for an independent stay and would certainly book again for us if needed.

Hotel was easy to find. Limited parking but we did manage to park for free. Staff were great and very friendly. We ate in the Thai restaurant and have to say the food was amazing. Room was spacious if a little dated but for what we paid it was far more than adequate. Bathroom was also huge. The bed was a little creaky and a bit hard. The TV also didn't seem to get any channels but we weren't overly bothered. No breakfast is offered but we went to Boston Tea Party which is less than 5 mins down the road.

Stains on carpet and there was no light at all working in the bathroom however there were no staff on sight to discuss this with Only saw a staff member when we checked in but other than that, it was all phone contact or a basket at the front asking you to check out and place your key in it. Room itself was okay, clean but huge old stain on carpet next to the bed which was very visible and off putting Location was ideal as it was a 15 min walk to the Utilita arena

Room was a little tired, evidence of damp in the bathroom and the shower curtain needs replacing for the same reason. TV channels were not good, had to download regular TV channel apps rather than just having freeview TV. Food in the restaurant was excellent and onsite parking good.

Arrived to find space for 6 cars, three either side of front door but 4 spaces taken and a few would be hard pushed to get into the 2 spare. Room was very spacious and clean as was bathroom. Read reviews about noise and for me it wasn't too bad but each to their own. TV didn't work, toilet wouldn't flush and shower almost overflowed so had to get out.

I don't know where to start...I can only presume that any positive reviews or ratings of these premises must clearly be based on the restaurant rather than the rooms. Everything in this room was filthy. There was evidence of vermin, cockroach traps under the bed, broken sink, torn curtains, the windows do not shut. Smashed windows seen on the outside of the building. The only evidence that this was the same property as the one advertised on the website was the blue piano in the entrance. No staff available after 9pm. Absolutely no way is this a 3 star property. Avoid!

Welcomed and told where the room was. Tired property, with mold in the shower room, stains on the carpet and the carpet gripper was very loose. Bed was super soft and the pillows were flat

It has been an very good stay. Practical location, quiet, safe area, comfy bed, warm, clean, spotless bathroom, quality soap/shampoo, helpful staff. The only issue was that I was given a room underneath another guest and the noise was noticeable. The hotel was not full so allowing a better experience noise-wise would have been possible. But again this is a good value hotel in Birmingham. The restaurant seemed nice as well. Thank you.

Would definitely come back to stay if I'm attending an event nearby again. It's situated in a nice area of Birmingham as well, and Morrisons is just across the road.

The TV didn’t work. I asked for it to be repaired, they said it couldn’t be. They clearly didn’t care. When the bath emptied it filled (literally filled) the shower tray with dirty water. They mopped it up but again clearly didn’t care. They said it was a 24/7 reception, it was not - it closed at 9pm and didn’t open at all in the morning. No breakfast was available. Please avoid this place, you deserve better.

Arriving at the property, it looked lovely, once inside it was quite dated. If you have trouble walking there are three flights of stairs with no lift, Lucky that wasn’t the case for us. Once in our room the heat nearly knocked you out.It was ridiculous, we were in able to turn the radiators down as the knob had been snapped off. Also reported to reception that the TV did not work, a member of staff came to try n fix it but to no avail. I asked could he change it with another TV in an empty room whilst we were out. Upon our return, nothing had been done. Will not be visiting again.

Arrived to find space for 6 cars, three either side of front door but 4 spaces taken and a few would be hard pushed to get into the 2 spare. Room was very spacious and clean as was bathroom. Read reviews about noise and for me it wasn't too bad but each to their own. TV didn't work, toilet wouldn't flush and shower almost overflowed so had to get out.

It has been an very good stay. Practical location, quiet, safe area, comfy bed, warm, clean, spotless bathroom, quality soap/shampoo, helpful staff. The only issue was that I was given a room underneath another guest and the noise was noticeable. The hotel was not full so allowing a better experience noise-wise would have been possible. But again this is a good value hotel in Birmingham. The restaurant seemed nice as well. Thank you.

On arrival at 3:30pm there was a telephone number to ring for check-in which worried us about what to expect. No one answered the phone number but then someone came to the door. He then phoned someone else who confirmed we were booked in. We were given our keys and instructions to enter the property ourselves. There was a restaurant set up but no one else around. It seemed more like an air bnb set up. Our room was very spacious, really lovely wallpaper and blinds. There was a mini fridge, tea and coffee supplies, a hanging rack and the bathroom contained both a double bath and a large shower cubicle. We were very happy with the room especially for the cost. There was free parking on the drive at the front of the property- this was limited so we were lucky with that. The quality bedding and bed were very comfortable and it was nice to have a couple of bucket chairs to sit in also. The room was spotless. In the morning we popped to Morrisons for a breakfast which was cheap and cheerful but filled the gap. We never saw another person at the hotel which felt a bit eerie but we heard people moving about so there were others there! We stayed as we went to a gig at the utilita arena and it was quite far from there but we got taxis so it was fine. I wouldn't recommend The blue piano for an independent stay and would certainly book again for us if needed.

The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work and the room was rather stuffy in the heatwave - a small fan helped a bit. We had a very nice breakfast at Boston Tea Party, a few metres away.

Hotel was easy to find. Limited parking but we did manage to park for free. Staff were great and very friendly. We ate in the Thai restaurant and have to say the food was amazing. Room was spacious if a little dated but for what we paid it was far more than adequate. Bathroom was also huge. The bed was a little creaky and a bit hard. The TV also didn't seem to get any channels but we weren't overly bothered. No breakfast is offered but we went to Boston Tea Party which is less than 5 mins down the road.

The room was very spacious, warm and comfortable. It was ideally situated for where I needed to be. The bar / restaurant was not at all busy, so there was no noise to speak of. My room was on the furst floor and I had a fantastic sleep. My only slight reservation about the room was a broken bath panel. It dated the bathroom, whish was otherwise spacious and clean. Will definitely be staying here again.

Luckily I managed to get a space. Also hotel details say it’s a 13 minute walk to Utilita Arena but when I Google-mapped it, it was actually 21 minutes - not a big deal but a bit misleading, especially if you have mobility issues.

Room was fine, area was ok. Short walk to tram stop. Check in was very difficult though. Called a number, gave us the door code, told us to find a key in a basket and go to that room. Nobody around at all! Went to the room and went out for the night to a concert. 4 missed calls, 10:40pm being the last after the concert had finished, my partner had a text asking “is this [surname]?” and asking for payment. If they sorted check in, they’d get payment then! Getting back at 11:45pm, tired and having travelled 5 hours in the day to meet someone when you’re back in the premises so you can pay just felt awkward, uninviting and made a bit of a vibe

We had to phone for someone. Sadly, check-in was slow in waiting for someone to come and attend. Basic room which AA would give 2 star rating. Photos online of parking shows tarmac but its actually pebbled. It is clean and a fan waa supplied. Plenty of tea & coffee in the room. Easy walking distance to city centre for utilita arena and plenty of places to eat and drink, which are open very late

DO NOT BOOK! Property is closed down and no one was there. Front door was locked, spent 20 minutes in rain pressing buzzer, knocking on door and called numbers for management company that was posted on door but every call went to voice mail. Lovely quaint hotel, needs updating a little but liked the character to it. The lady who greeted us was very helpful. Perfect location for us going to the utilita arena as only 15 min walk, had breakfast the next day at a place a few doors down and got 20% off because of us staying at the blue piano.

Room was a little tired, evidence of damp in the bathroom and the shower curtain needs replacing for the same reason. TV channels were not good, had to download regular TV channel apps rather than just having freeview TV. Food in the restaurant was excellent and onsite parking good.

Lovely little guest house with the restaurant below it. The person at the checkout was welcoming and friendly, he brought my luggage up for me to my room which is really helpful because there's no lift, only stairs. Food was delicious (Asian-approved spiciness) and staff was nice. On the Sat evening when I was there , there had been a live band playing outside the restaurant area, they had a stage for live performances. Lovely atmosphere with good food and music. Although if you're trying to get an early rest when a live band is playing (think it ends around 12am) , it would be a bit challenging.. Only thing I would say is that the room doors are not auto-locked so you'll need to remember to lock your room door every time you come out -but it's still relatively safe because they've a main door to the rooms that's auto-locked. During outside of restaurant hours, there won't be anyone there but I was able to safely leave my luggage at the reception before coming back to pick it up about 2 hours later without any issues since the main entrance is auto-locked. Arriving at the door with a phone number to ring isnt the warmest of welcomes. Given key and found room in a lovely building. Room was large, good wifi, has parking, close to a big Morrisons, lots of positives. No breakfast offered, did try the food in evening. Far too salty and expensive for what it was. Big homeless problem local. Would stay again.

Hotel was easy to find. Limited parking but we did manage to park for free. Staff were great and very friendly. We ate in the Thai restaurant and have to say the food was amazing. Room was spacious if a little dated but for what we paid it was far more than adequate. Bathroom was also huge. The bed was a little creaky and a bit hard. The TV also didn't seem to get any channels but we weren't overly bothered. No breakfast is offered but we went to Boston Tea Party which is less than 5 mins down the road.

The room was very spacious, warm and comfortable. It was ideally situated for where I needed to be. The bar / restaurant was not at all busy, so there was no noise to speak of. My room was on the furst floor and I had a fantastic sleep. My only slight reservation about the room was a broken bath panel. It dated the bathroom, whish was otherwise spacious and clean. Will definitely be staying here again.

This was a very budget property with rooms above a restaurant. Restaurant staff checked me in were friendly, room was basic and in need of a refresh (carpet, bed, soft furnishings all showing signs of wear and tear). Plus side is that it is next to some nice restaurants / cafes, close to city centre and had four free parking slots (first come etc..).

Really disappointing stay. Check-in was from 2pm, but I arrived at 3pm and the room still wasn’t ready. At 10pm, my access fob stopped working, leaving me locked out of my room and belongings. There was nobody on site to help, no response via the property chat, and it took around 30 minutes to get a response on Facebook. A man staying there eventually had to physically push the door open for me. The room was also filthy, with hairs on the bed, bathroom and counters. Being left at 10pm without access to my room was particularly concerning as a young woman. I would not recommend staying here.

There are some real positives here. The room I booked was absolutely massive, with two bedrooms and a large bathroom (little tired), and the restaurant is excellent, offering traditional Nepalese food. The manager was also friendly when I spoke to him in person, although communication was confusing at times. Unfortunately, the stay itself was rather chaotic. Communication before arrival was non-existent. I messaged through Hotels.com with a question and received no reply. On arrival I had to call to find out where to park. I reached an answering machine, left a message and sent another message through Hotels.com, again with no response. I eventually spoke to the manager, who told me to park out front, which was full, then out back, which was also full, before ending the call. I left my car on the road and checked in. The room then revealed a broken door handle, a hole in the main bedroom window and a TV with no connections. A kettle sat on top of a small fridge I reported the window and TV problems and was initially told they were fine. I had to show a photo of the window before someone was sent to fix both. Parking continued to be an adventure. At 7:30pm I was given a note allowing me to park out back after dinner, only for it to be taken back and given to another guest. Around 8:30pm I was finally told I could move my car into the hotel parking space. Overall, it felt like a Fawlty Towers experience. I wouldn’t return to stay, but I would happily return for a meal.
