We found this hotel situated conveniently for shopping areas in the centre of Bristol. The hotel didn't have a manned reception desk, but had a secure access tag system. Our room was cold when we arrived and we had to ask reception to turn on the heating remotely, similarly the television only worked properly if you could stream what you wanted to watch from your own mobile device after logging in. The furnishings were comfortable and as you would expect in a hotel at this price point. Unfortunately we had to leave before breakfast was served so we cannot comment on that but I would like to add that all the staff we saw were helpful and friendly

A unique residence, with a very nice restaurant. Not the best for a business traveller as it was not easy to find, there was no parking, and access to the hotel was not easy.

Short: recommend for short lazy trips, particularly for couples. Less suitable for extended stays, particularly working holidays. Long: while overall lovely, there were multiple things which were a little off and dismissed as either quirkiness of an “artist hotel”, an old building, or “standard practice”. However, as some greatly experienced with the hotel industry, these are more purposeful misdirections. There were many, but a few include: - the hotel is not “reasonably” accessible, and the elevator does not serve all floors. Keep in mind if you have mobility issues or significant luggage. - difficult to work if you are taking a “remote working holiday”. The “laptop work surface” in the rooms are just tiny low coffee tables with trendy big chairs that you’ll have to hunch over and your back will hurt in short order. - their LOVELY library is not a dedicated space, as it gets rented out and therefore can’t always be used by the guests (an issue compounded by the issue noted above), - the bar adjacent space is an alternative workspace for the above, but it is basically in a corridor slave and has loud-ish music, making concentration and calls difficult.

Loved the lay out of the hotel. Very quirky and so very different to your normal/regular hotel. Great bar and food! Good part of town. Will definitely stay again! Only downside, no parking. But Cabot Circus car park just 5 mins walk. £17.80 for 24 hours. Costly, but safe place to park. Dont bother with JustPark app. It is cheaper, but will send you to dodgy neighbourhoods.

I stay in hotels a lot for work and this is by far one of my favourites. Usually I just expect a clean and functional room but I felt so cosy and at home, the interior was beautiful and there were so many lovely little touches. In terms of practicality the hotel is in a good central location, it was easy to get parked using the RingGo app outside. Check in was quick, the room was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. Will definitely prioritise this hotel for upcoming Bristol work trips.

I recently stayed at this charming hotel. It was a convenient location for city shopping and an impeccably clean and tidy environment. The Victorian, slightly industrial decor was an absolute delight, adding a unique character to the place. The staff were consistently friendly and polite, contributing positively to the overall experience. Additionally, the food and drink prices were reasonable, making dining in the hotel a pleasant and affordable option. However, there was a notable downside. Upon checking in, we were informed that we had been allocated 'The Shoe Box Room' due to booking through an agent, specifically originally with Expedia, rather than directly with the hotel. While the room itself met our needs, this practice felt somewhat condescending, particularly since we were paying a higher rate compared to some top hotels in Bristol's trendy Clifton area. Overall, the hotel's positives outweigh this minor issue. I hope the management reconsiders this approach to ensure all guests feel equally valued, regardless of how they book their stay.

We liked the eclectic, informal and quirky art and decor. Rooms were comfortable and well appointed. The minibar was thoughtfully stocked and snacks were available. Showers were hot and clean.Staff were very considerate ,helpful and attentive.

Hotel in an old historic property. Lots of quirky artifacts in the room which is great for travelers. Suite was spacious. Only comment is that suite 11 on the second floor was above the basement bar and the music was loud until midnight when it closed. Upside was that the music was pretty good and I had jet lag so not really an issue.

Lovely quirky place to stay, room was beautiful and spacious. The bed was super comfy and the pillows were out of this world, although the bed frame was squeakier than Stuart Little getting murdered by a cat. Also work force outside was a rude awakening but that’s not the hotels fault. Really pleased we found this little gem

I enjoyed my stay enormously.The staff are relaxed friendly and approachable.The manager was available!!!And similarly helpful. A noisy evening event was initally a problem , but i was moved to a bigger quiet room as soon as possible. So 10/10 to everyone at Artist Residence in Bristol. Which incidently is gorgeous inside.

This is such a lovely hotel! Highly recommend. Just marred by silly details in service. You can't get in without ringing the door bell and it takes a while as they are all working in the bar (a bit much when it is raining hard!), the window had been wide open making the room really cold. The room itself though is lovely with everything you could think of to make it comfortable plus quirky extras. This is such a lovely hotel! Highly recommend. Just marred by silly details in service. You can't get in without ringing the door bell and it takes a while as they are all working in the bar (a bit much when it is raining hard!), the window had been wide open making the room really cold. The room itself though is lovely with everything you could think of to make it comfortable plus quirky extras. We booked in for a weekend to celebrate our anniversary and the hotel was a surprise to my wife. Lovely interior and funky room designs. We had a couple of issues with the room but the staff did all they could to resolve the issues. When they couldn’t move us because they were fully booked they did all they could to make up for it and we couldn't fault their apologetic manner and efforts they went to to make up for it. We will look forward to staying at other hotels within the group. Thank you Floss and the Team!

I stay in hotels a lot for work and this is by far one of my favourites. Usually I just expect a clean and functional room but I felt so cosy and at home, the interior was beautiful and there were so many lovely little touches. In terms of practicality the hotel is in a good central location, it was easy to get parked using the RingGo app outside. Check in was quick, the room was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. Will definitely prioritise this hotel for upcoming Bristol work trips.

I enjoyed my stay enormously.The staff are relaxed friendly and approachable.The manager was available!!!And similarly helpful. A noisy evening event was initally a problem , but i was moved to a bigger quiet room as soon as possible. So 10/10 to everyone at Artist Residence in Bristol. Which incidently is gorgeous inside.

Gorgeous property and staff were 10/10! Immediate area around the property was run down and didn’t feel particularly safe at night - Would still book though. Couple of noisy bars close by, but music finished by 1am.

We found this hotel situated conveniently for shopping areas in the centre of Bristol. The hotel didn't have a manned reception desk, but had a secure access tag system. Our room was cold when we arrived and we had to ask reception to turn on the heating remotely, similarly the television only worked properly if you could stream what you wanted to watch from your own mobile device after logging in. The furnishings were comfortable and as you would expect in a hotel at this price point. Unfortunately we had to leave before breakfast was served so we cannot comment on that but I would like to add that all the staff we saw were helpful and friendly

This is our 3rd stay at Artist Residence, Bristol. We love everything about it - the rooms are super comfy & packed with everything you need for your stay. The interiors are just a dream! You don’t need to leave the hotel as the bar/restaurants are prefect for a cozy evening in or some drinks, but if you do it’s conveniently placed a 5 minute walk away from Cabot Circus or Stokes Croft.

I recently stayed at this charming hotel. It was a convenient location for city shopping and an impeccably clean and tidy environment. The Victorian, slightly industrial decor was an absolute delight, adding a unique character to the place. The staff were consistently friendly and polite, contributing positively to the overall experience. Additionally, the food and drink prices were reasonable, making dining in the hotel a pleasant and affordable option. However, there was a notable downside. Upon checking in, we were informed that we had been allocated 'The Shoe Box Room' due to booking through an agent, specifically originally with Expedia, rather than directly with the hotel. While the room itself met our needs, this practice felt somewhat condescending, particularly since we were paying a higher rate compared to some top hotels in Bristol's trendy Clifton area. Overall, the hotel's positives outweigh this minor issue. I hope the management reconsiders this approach to ensure all guests feel equally valued, regardless of how they book their stay.

Loved the lay out of the hotel. Very quirky and so very different to your normal/regular hotel. Great bar and food! Good part of town. Will definitely stay again! Only downside, no parking. But Cabot Circus car park just 5 mins walk. £17.80 for 24 hours. Costly, but safe place to park. Dont bother with JustPark app. It is cheaper, but will send you to dodgy neighbourhoods.

Lovely hotel, shame about the Aircon.... Really nice place, helpful friendly]staff, really nice room (upgraded from original - bonus!), but Aircon didn't bring room temperature below 26 degrees even when set to 19 all night. Booked for Aircon as much as anything else so was a bit of a letdown as a poor nights sleep was had, being as it was heatwave time! Would go back for sure as otherwise great.

Lovely decor and good location but noise carried from the “lobby” to the second floor, making it very noisy. Unconscious guests coming back late and very rowdy, couple with terrible pillows made sleeping hard. The room next door also let out a constant beeping noise that was heard across the entire 2nd floor (so said another guests). I really wanted to like it there but not sure I’d stay again.

If you like the Bristol Vibe you’ll love this Hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy check in and out. Trendy bar/lounge area and bedroom very nicely appointed with very comfortable bed and pillows. Lovely en suite and nice toiletries and fluffy towels/ dressing gowns. Floors could have been cleaner as could Bar area. Convenient parking 5 mins walk away at Cabot Circus multi storey. Useful to note that the Hotel Entrance is on Cave Street ( off Portland Square) Not Portland Square itself.
