Despite the incredibly kind staff, our stay was so disappointing that we had to cut our trip short. I had read reviews mentioning the property was old, which I usually don't mind if a place is well-kept, but the conditions here were unacceptable. The main issue was the unbearable stench. Our room reeked of stale cigarettes, and the bathroom smelled like a sickening mix of raw sewage and smoke. To make matters worse, hotel staff regularly smoked directly under our window, and the smoke seeped into our room whether the windows were open or closed. The wardrobe was the worst offender—it literally smelled like stale armpit sweat (what we call "chucha" in Spanish). The odor was so strong that it permeated all our luggage; I had to wash every single piece of clothing we packed, even the unworn items, the moment we got home. We traveled with our baby, who was absolutely miserable. By day two, he was begging to go home. On day three, he woke up asking to get in the car immediately and even refused to eat. The breakfast itself was fine for my husband and me (though the coffee machine was broken), but our baby wouldn't touch it. I truly believe he was just completely overwhelmed by the pervasive smells. The garden area was nice, the Wi-Fi connection was strong enough to teach my online classes, the neighbourhood was very peaceful, and the ocean view was great, but I cannot recommend this hotel, especially if you are travelling with children or have any sensitivity to odours.
