Clean, easy check-in, ample parking.

Slightly cleaned up road side motel with a broken dryer in the laundry room and a toilet that took numerous tries to get it to stop running. Really cramped space in the rooms. On check in I felt that we were imposing for having checked in electronically just before arriving. Will say the maintenance guy was very quick to fix the dryer and super friendly.

Our room was very clean, bed was comfortable. Laundry room was next door to our room which was perfect!

It was a clean and quiet room to stay in. The whole town had a problem for a few hours in the evening when there was a power outage due to a storm that came up. They did not have backup power.

One of very few options in Hanksville. Basic hotel, but very clean, with helpful staff. Quick “breakfast-to-go” was appreciated. Plenty of parking, and good dining options nearby.

Had a laundry room and ice machine. Was clean and quiet. The front desk staff was great.

We enjoyed our stay there. The room was clean, there was a couple of good places to eat close by. They had a washer and dryer which we needed at the time. We would stay again without a doubt.

quite, comfortable, easy check-in. had everything we needed. loved the chairs out on the porch to watch the sunset/sunrise.

My fifteenth time staying here. An oasis in the desert. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Housekeeping is not what it used to be...they replace the towels and make the bed, but don't clean the floor which gets grittier every consecutive day. Limited office hours.

I was happily surprised at how clean and in good condition our room was. We were on an 11 day trip and this room was the nicest and cleanest of all the rooms we stayed in on our trip. This establishment was recommended to us by a friend who had previously stayed there and now we will confidently recommend it to others..

The room was quite dirty. Floors, lots of long hair all over, even in the bathtub. I have short hair so I know it wasn’t mine. Lots of dirt on the floor. I understand it’s a desert area so the floors get dirty quickly however it would have been nice to be clean on arrival. This unit was at the end of the hotel, closest to the road and traffic was noisy at times. Some ATV also were riding close to the room making it very noisy at times. Location close to the gas station and convenience stores was great. Staff at the front desk was friendly. Overall it was quite average due to the dirty room on arrival.

It’s a very small town. The property was ok, but could have been cleaner (white towels were stained and old - understand the red dust is hard to get out, but not all the stains were dust…). Check in building smelled like sewage- not sure what was going on as there wasn’t any explanation. Luckily the rest of the hotel is separate and smelled fine. Bed was not comfortable - saggy in the middle. Would not stay again.

We have stayed at Whispering Sands many times and we are always pleased. It is an older hotel, but they keep it clean and updated. Conviently located to many outdoor recreation areas. Great restaurants near by.

I was really surprised at how clean/remodeled this little place was. Only one complaint- the bathroom fan didn't seem to ventilate super well. When I looked up, it was caked in dust. Understandable for the desert. To be fair, I didn't get the chance to tell management. I'd easily stay here again.

The room could use some deep clean there was probably about an inch of DUST on the baseboards maybe need to clean the rooms each day!!!

The room looked like it was in the middle of a renovation. Toilet paper holder was falling off the wall. No battery in the smoke detector. Dirty baseboards. Generally needed drywall finished and a fresh coat of paint. I know not everyone agrees on how firm a bed should be, but the bed was very firm (not comfortable after a day of hiking) and so were the pillows.

The beds was too soft, the TV did not work and the facilities in general were old/worn

The room was clean and nice. The TV didn’t work, but when I called and asked about this, they sent a technician out. He wasn’t able to fix it, but he did try. The staff who checked me in wasn’t very professional or friendly. The walls were thin, and when people came in to the room next to ours, they were loud and upset about something. There weren’t any amenities (pool, breakfast, etc) and the price was very high. The motel is in a very small town, as well, so there are limited resources.

Very clean and comfortable. My room had a jetted tub which worked great. Furnishings above average for a motel. WiFi happened to be out but I’m sure this was an aberration.

Room was under construction when I got there. There was 3 paint buckets inside my room and debris on the floor. My guess is that since I checked in after hours the key they left for me was for a room that was still being worked on? Anyway it wasnt a huge deal as I was just there overnight. Slept good, the bed was comfy and the TV worked!

The room had clearly been renovated recently and was comfortable and gorgeous. Both the room and the bathroom were spacious. Our TV didn't work, so the desk employee came to the room and fixed it right away. I would definitely stay here again.

Good place for the price. The desk is not manned very many hours, but our family members helped us get checked in and get our keys.

Arrived late, and received a nice message letting us know how to get into our room after hours. Property was clean and quiet.

The lady running the motel was nice and helpful at checkin but no one was available Amat check out. I wanted a receipt but maid service told me the front desk was closed until 3. The room was clean and comfortable.

When we checked in I was asked for a credit card. The two rooms were already paid in full through Hotels.com 6+ weeks before our arrival. On our way to the rooms, I received notification from my credit card that $277.16 was just charged. I returned to the front desk to question the charge and was told that she knew about it and was reaching out to the IT department to have it removed. Fast forward five days… the charge posted as did a credit to offset, but another charge for the same amount posted again after we checked out. I have disputed the charge with my credit card company and have left a voice mail with Whispering Sands. It is now one week after checkout and the 2nd erroneous charge has yet to be reversed!!! What they did right… We did have adjoining rooms on the first floor as requested. Maintenance was called to fix a toilet that wouldn’t stop running once flushed. (It was better, but still ran our entire stay). The dirty bath mat was replaced when asked. (I’m going to assume it was soiled when the maintenance man worked on the toilet and not left in the room in such condition.) What needs to be addressed… The rooms look nothing like the online pictures. There are no gift baskets as mentioned in reviews or shown in pictures. There is no “common area” for coffee or tea as mentioned in the hotel descriptions. We were told the “common area” would be our room. REVERSE the $277.16 erroneously charged to my credit card. I already paid $714.16!!!

Whispering Sands was a nice hotel. It was clean and everything functioned as it should. Our only issue, and it is really not a big deal, we arrived around 2:15 and was told that they do not check anyone in before 3:00. Ok, we will just find something to do for an hour. Well...Hanksville really doesn't have a lot going on. We did manage to screw around for a while until we could get into our room. Beds were comfortable and we got a good night's sleep.

When plugging in my phone to the lamp connection it sparked and burned my connecter. The staff tried their best to help us with compensation for damages (I had just bought a new "fast charger" 2 days before I left) but it was 3 trips to the office, one trip to the connecting gas station where we were told the owner would be (he wasn't). The staff finally talked to the owner who offered us a $55.00 credit at the fast food cafe he also owned. We didn't want that and after a few more phone calls we were finally offered a $55.00 check but it meant us having to go back to the gas station to collect it. The staff was appologetic and kind, the owner not so much.

They office open at 3 pm, but we have a sick kid, we arrived at 1,the lady in the front desk is so nice, she come in five minutes to open the door for us. Thanks the great service and your extra time.

We had tried calling multiple times to let them know we were running late for check in and no one would answer the phone and or return out calls. Then we got there and checked in but the next morning out key card no longer worked and we could not get in the room. Luckily we found house keeping who could get us into our room. Unfortunately not much available out there so have to deal with these types of issues.

The rooms were fairly updated. Newer and upgraded carpeting was nice to have. Most importantly, the staff made arrangements for me to checkin a little later, as I was traveling and not able to checkin until just after 10pm. I felt that was very thoughtful and proactive on their part. It was very much appreciated. The cleaning staff in the morning were getting after it. They were very nice and hospitable.

Hotel was in the middle of nowhere but luckily there is gas on the other side of the street. Lots of views similar to places on Mars. Overall a respite from the wilderness that is all around it.

Very good location for Goblin State Park and Capitol Reef National Park.

This hotel is located at just the right junction: we've stayed here multiple times when visiting the "mighty 5" and Goblin Valley and the Ancestral Puebloan ruins in the area. It has been refreshed and was very clean on our visit, but it is a roadside motel so don't expect the Ritz. Coffeemaker, fridge, microwave, nicer shower than I have at home, comfortable bed, quiet sleep.

Excellent place to stay near Goblin Valley state park. Also great dining options nearby and loved how clean the room was. Highly recommend it!

Hanksville is A small remote desert town. But this hotel has very nice room. Clean, newly remodel with modern amenities. Comfy. Restaurant is across the road, walking distance. Highly recommend if you need to stay after or before visiting Capitol Reef NP.

Nice hotel...some parts have two floors. Restaurants next door and just down the street. Gas station across the street and beautiful scenery!

Comfortable bed, friendly, helpful staff. Conventient to local dining. Great location to access Goblin State Park.

Very comfortable beds. Rooms were roomy. Bathroom fan was missing the cover and was pretty loud. No breakfast, but the proprietor was very friendly and helpful.

Price for what you get was very high. However, clean and nice rooms. No breakfast

Great location. Room was ok, I was disturbed when I turned over my pillow and found blood stains on the pillow. They should have thrown it out. Food options are extremely limited. When making reservations they should make people aware that the nearby restaurant closes at 4:00 p.m. and the next nearest restaurant is 35 miles away.

The room was clean and good. We booked with breakfast Included. But, in the reception they told us they don’t serve breakfast anymore. That was misleading and inconvenient because we didn’t buy anything for breakfast. It always help when they update these information.

Best night sleep I’ve had all holiday! For dinner check out Stans Burger next door - order a milkshake and you will not be disappointed

Breakfast wasn't much. But it was a perfect stay to visit the highlights we had planned on our road trip. Simple but clean and service was great. Would stay again!

A recently updated interior at an older motel. It was clean and the location was good for us. The furniture is of IKEA quality. I thought the bed was uncomfortable and my neck hurt after sleeping on it, but it was clean. The grab and go breakfast wasn't much but they didn't advertise a breakfast, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by this motel. There is not a lot of choice in this area so we stayed here and found it to be clean and quiet. The beds were comfortable and there was an excellent restaurant nearby. There was no breakfast which was a negative for me.

We had a great stay. Breakfast was very basic, not many options.
