Shower had no hot water. Looks like they are in the middle of a overhaul and Im guessing our room had somethings overlooked. Really like this hotel and hope once the overall is all finished they get everything back on track. Pool was also closed which was a bummer for our kids.

The pool was closed. Everything was dusty, dirty and smelly! The room smelled of smoke and we could hear everything from the room upstairs and next door. The jet tub was a joke no instructions on how to use it. And no refund was offered for pool not being open.

The website has not been updated in many years and the hotel does not have any of the amenities they claim to offer. The bar is only open for a few hours in the evening and closes at 11 pm, and the pool is not open at all in the summer as advertised. the hot tub in the room was nice but it comes with a severely inflated price and that is the only reason I am giving 2 stars. *Also, Management will not even offer a partial refund for blatantly lying about the amenities and will respond immediately with a generic no-refunds policy quote. So, this must happen often.

Great find while travelling route 66 . Definitely would stay again . Onsite diner had live music and a whole plethora of memorabilia . Disappointed that the lady on reception didn’t tell us about the live music so missed the first half .

Great place. The staff is a pleasure to be around and professional. I enjoyed my stay and the casino games were so much fun! I think they should put a gift shop in and sell some Route 66 Signs

Old hotel. I was there on a day the restaurant was closed, so I had to go out to eat. Bed was comfy. Nothing fancy about room, no carpet. Pool not used in long time. No coat rack.

Place was neat and cute. Rooms were spacious. Definitely not clean. Food in microwave, food under chair, coffee pod left in maker, yellow stain on sheet, stuff on mirror, floor not clean, shower wall smeared and nasty, hair in shower. Had to go buy disinfectant to clean before shower. It obviously was just quick put together before we arrived. Wont probably go back.But like i said the place was neat and the restaurant too.

There were a few positives to our stay. I requested flowers in the room for my girlfriend, and the hotel followed through, which was appreciated. The hotel restaurant employees were also excellent. Everyone we interacted with there was kind, friendly, and professional, and they were the best part of our stay. Devin at the front desk was also helpful. Unfortunately, the room experience was very disappointing. Our first room was dirty, with smudged windows, handprints on the walls, and an unclean bathroom. More seriously, we found multiple adult bedbugs, including one on a towel and several in the bed. The room also had little to no hot water, even after following staff instructions and waiting 15 to 30 minutes. We were moved to a second room, but it was still not clean. The curtains were dirty, the bathroom had not been properly cleaned, and there was a roach or similar insect on the floor. This room also had water issues. Some front desk interactions felt dismissive and unhelpful. While we appreciated the flowers and the kindness of the restaurant staff, the cleanliness issues, insects, lack of hot water, and how concerns were handled made this stay unacceptable.

The bed was comfortable. That's the only positive. The pictures are misleading, it is an OLD, outdated hotel. The room was filthy dirty, towel bar was broke, lots of people there talking, slamming doors, etc., until after 2:30am. Lots of brown swipes near on wall by toilet paper, something was spilled on bathroom door and not cleaned up, etc. Very gross. Floors were FREEZING cold, even after I turned on the heat. One packet (sugar, cream, napkin) was by tiny coffee pot was opened, no new packets were there for new guests. After I checked in, I was notified that their restaurant was closed (I planned to eat there). I went to front desk in the morning to turn in my keys. Nobody was working the front desk so I just left. I did not feel safe at this hotel (I was by myself), and would have left without checking in, but this was nonrefundable and I could not afford to go elsewhere.

Unfortunately this place has gone way downhill since the last time I stayed here years ago. Musty mildew smell, smoke smell. I had to stay here for a week due to family matters and I told them about the strong smoke smell in my room and asked to be moved and the gentleman told me unfortunately I can’t guarantee that if I move you that you won’t smell it in another room. I mean really isn’t it supposed to be a smoke free facility! Then on top of all this my room had bed bugs. I told the girl at the front desk and all she could say was “well I’m sorry about that”. Are you flipping kidding me! I have bites all over me. The furniture is disgusting. I’m attaching photos so everyone will be aware .

This was a cute hotel to stay as a layover-type one-night hotel, but it's definitely not somewhere I'd stay again. Staff was very nice and check-in was easy. The lobby and memorabilia was pretty cool. As for the room, it was dilapidated. A very tiny round table, barely big enough for one plate, with the pleather chairs that were peeling and coming apart. The bed was terribly uncomfortable and short, and the pillows were small, like toddler-size small, and flat. The bathtub and shower curtain were dirty and stained. The carpet was stained. The walls were so thin and we could hear everything in the rooms around us. Also, we were unfortunate enough to have some very disruptive people partying right outside our room until past 3:00 am. My husband finally went to the front desk and complained about them. They did go take care of that issue immediately. The staff and memorabilia were the best parts of this hotel.

Initially booked a jacuzzi suite for myself, husband and son but when we arrived we were informed that there was only a king size bed so we weren’t able to have this room. Free breakfast was advertised when booking but we were informed when we got there that this wasn’t the case either. My feet were black after walking around in the room, mould on the ceiling in the bathroom, ripped shower curtain and stains on the main bedroom curtains. The outdoor pool was out of action and my son was looking forward to using this facility. Generally quite run down and an overwhelming smell of smoke in our room. Extremely disappointing.

For a historic spot, it was really great. Lots of cool decor and history in the lobby and halls. Rooms were clean. There was some noise from the building in the room (electrical and plumbing probably) but I assume its just due to age. Very cool place, would stay again.

My husband and I got the jacuzzi suite so we could have a date night and relax. Staff was nice Everything was nice the room was clean. BUT we were placed right by the exit door and heard everyone going in and out alarm beeping ALL night and early morning. Then around 5 am people were standing right outside our door drunk. We could literally hear everyone’s convos around us. Also the air did not work so we were hot all night. We spent $250 for the jacuzzi suite just expected to actually get some sleep. Very noisy!

What a unique hotel to stay at! If I am in Springfield again, I will certainly want to stay here again. Love that there is a diner and bar too! I am warey however of certain plant-like smells that overwhelmed me when I was walking through the hall to my room. However, once I went inside of my room, the smell was clean and not stuffy. (Later in the evening when I went back out, I noticed they pulled out a purifier and the smell dissolved) Bathroom vanity and bathroom was impressive. Clean wooden floors. Comfortable bed. Massive room! In my room, there was a overstuffed chair that was horribly stained (did not want to sit in it) and the outlets by the bed literally did not hold the charger (kept falling out).

The walls were so thin and we could hear everything in the rooms around us. Also, we were unfortunate enough to have some very disruptive people partying right outside our room until past 3:00 am. My husband finally went to the front desk and complained about them. They did go take care of that issue immediately. The staff and memorabilia were the best parts of this hotel.

This was a cute hotel to stay as a layover-type one-night hotel, but it's definitely not somewhere I'd stay again. Staff was very nice and check-in was easy. The lobby and memorabilia was pretty cool. As for the room, it was dilapidated. A very tiny round table, barely big enough for one plate, with the pleather chairs that were peeling and coming apart. The bed was terribly uncomfortable and short, and the pillows were small, like toddler-size small, and flat. The bathtub and shower curtain were dirty and stained. The carpet was stained. The stay was great. Was just a one night stay but had a great stay. The desk staff was very friendly. Our room was super nice and large. We walked around the building and enjoyed looking at alll the Route 66 signs and vintage stuff. It is a cute place.

EXCELLENT value for the money. The hotel is also like a little museum about Route 66. The room was clean and it even had a walk-in shower. Very modern. Even had a Keurig coffee maker! In this price range you're not going to find anything better.

I had a very nice stay at this hotel while attending the Illinois State Fair. I stayed in the original part that was built for Route 66 traffic. The lobby and common areas has lots of Route 66 memorabilia to enjoy. The hotel and my room was very clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. My room was large. I believe the hotel was updated in the late1990s so the decor is a bit dated, but is in great shape. I had read a few reviews that said the hotel smelled, but this was definitely NOT the case. Next time I'm in Springfield, I'll stay here again

There were a few positives to our stay. I requested flowers in the room for my girlfriend, and the hotel followed through, which was appreciated. The hotel restaurant employees were also excellent. Everyone we interacted with there was kind, friendly, and professional, and they were the best part of our stay. Devin at the front desk was also helpful. Unfortunately, the room experience was very disappointing. Our first room was dirty, with smudged windows, handprints on the walls, and an unclean bathroom. More seriously, we found multiple adult bedbugs, including one on a towel and several in the bed. The room also had little to no hot water, even after following staff instructions and waiting 15 to 30 minutes. We were moved to a second room, but it was still not clean. The curtains were dirty, the bathroom had not been properly cleaned, and there was a roach or similar insect on the floor. This room also had water issues. Some front desk interactions felt dismissive and unhelpful. While we appreciated the flowers and the kindness of the restaurant staff, the cleanliness issues, insects, lack of hot water, and how concerns were handled made this stay unacceptable.

This was my 2nd time visiting this property. I had my executive jacuzzi suite and an additional double room for my teenagers. The rooms were very clean, well stocked, and roomy. The king bed in 152 needs upgraded. it was comparable to sleeping on a steel slab. Also, both suites I've stayed in have two AC units one in the bedroom and one in the Jacuzzi space.. the Jacuzzi space AC has not been operational in either room. And the pool was out of order. Additionally, I can say that the staff this go round was terrible and not accommodating at all. The front desk man seemed bitter and hateful when I inquired about the meal cards that came with my suite last time for the in house restaurant. "JUST BECAUSE YOU GOT THEM LAST TIME DOES NOT MEAN YOU'LL GET THEM EVERY TIME! AND YOU GOT A CONSIDERABLE DISCOUNT ON THE ROOMS SO YOU DON'T QUALIFY!" I'M unsure how $300 A NIGHT is a discount!!?? Last visit I was given the option to order in to my room or to visit the diner. I have bad knees and cannot handle a bunch of stairs and stairs lead to the diner. I requested my order be delivered to my room..I was laughed at by the waitress and the manager"yeah no we don't do that ". I had to order door dash and pay the Dasher to pickup my order and bring it to my room. I was disappointed that I did not have the pleasure of interacting with the owner on this trip. He's kind, personable and endlessly accommodating to his guests and their requests.

The entire place is dated, as it was designed to be. Lot of fascinating items to see. Room was fine, with the exception being that the toilet needed the bolts tightened to the ground. Awfully loose. The other notable problem was that if you punch in the address to GoogleMaps, you'll never find the place. Had to call the hotel for better directions.

Unique-Route 66 memorablia. Didn't like- the supposed breakfast at 6 am. No such thing available for the guests. The dining room is supposed to be open at 11-9, sorry its not.

Such a fun place to stay with some personality! We did have an issue from our fridge leaking due to the high temp, but staff was very helpful to fix the issue. Did have some unfinished details throughout the room, but nothing that affected our overall stay. Great food at the diner and very kind staff. Will be back!

This is a cute Route 66 themed motel. Older cars and memorabilia around. The included breakfast is a good deal. Beds and room were very comfortable. The room value was a good price also. I would return.

We had a good time here. The room and the hotel are quirky and interesting - exactly what you want on Route 66. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food in the diner was good for both the evening and the breakfast. We would stay here again.

The room was clean. There was a lot of memorabilia to see on site and the environment was awesome. We were disappointed as we were told the dinner/bar was open until at least 9:30. We opened the door and there were 4 people in there and they hollered they were closed. It was just a bit after 9:00. This was on a Friday night. Other than that, it was a great stay. We were told the dinner/bar was not owned by the hotel.

So much cool stuff to look at. Make sure to check out the mural on the back of the building. Front desk staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Our room was clean & comfortable. We would stay here again if in the area.

Not clean! Rooms had mismatched lights which needed new light bulbs. it was super run down. AC didn't work well. It was gross we didn’t want to take a ahower.

OK - I'll partly accept blame for not researching the property more thoroughly or checking recent guest reviews before booking. However, the property today no longer resembles the image presented in its promotional materials. While it is technically a converted old Holiday Inn filled with some Route 66-themed décor, the nostalgia factor amounts to little more than some old signs, 50's-era toys, and vintage soda and cigarette machines lining the lobby and hallways. The iconic Holiday Inn sign is gone, and the outdoor pool featured prominently in photos, complete with Route 66 artwork, has been permanently closed. It now sits covered by a tarp, surrounded by maintenance equipment. Overall, the property appears to be in significant decline. The only truly memorable exterior feature is a large Route 66-style mural on the back of the building, which isn't even visible from the roadway. Inside, only a handful of rooms reflect the nostalgic theme as advertised. Most are outdated and extremely basic, with plain concrete walls that felt more institutional than inviting. There is also no real "arcade", just a '21-and-Over' slots area in the lobby and a few electronic dart boards hidden away in a banquet room; presuming they must host a dart league. To the hotel's credit, it was quiet. However, within minutes of checking in, we were ready to write off the cost of our stay and look elsewhere. If you're traveling with children, I strongly recommend booking somewhere (ANYWHERE) else.

The bed linen was clean, the towels were few, the bed had a huge dip in the middle, it could certainly use a new mattress. The air conditioning was excellent. The photos on this site were taken many years ago. Room 116 was dark and shabby, the tiles on the wall not very clean. The fridge was clean and in good working order. It must be noted that this room, and perhaps all rooms in this hotel have windows that look out on a corridor that people are walking up and down all the time, so there’s no natural light and no privacy unless you pull the curtains, in which case it’s very dark. More motel than hotel. The attached diner has great burgers and nice staff.
