The property is great, however, is not similar to other Fosshotels. The restaurant had less options and there were no spa (hot tub or sauna) amenities. The location and views were great and the rooms were clean, but if you are expecting similar amenities to other Fosshotel locations you will be a bit disappointed.

The staff was excellent. They rushed the cleaning of room to accommodate the lack of sleep we were experiencing. Not disabled friendly. No ramps and parking lot gravel. Cannot use cane in gravel, fear of falling. No space to move on either side of bed. Had to hold wall to squish thru.

There are no places to dine in the area other than the hotel. They are quite pushy to get you to eat dinner and breakfast there. There are no facilities to prepare your own food which is quite frustrating and shocking because everywhere else we’ve stayed has options. They have signs in the room telling you to not cook or else you’ll be fined. For the price you pay they really need to accommodate all kinds of travellers. You’re not going to be able to stop people from preparing their own food so help accommodate them. I don’t want to spend 7000 on some beef and potatoes. Overall check in was easy. Wish there was easy access from the outside because our room was down stairs and it was difficult to carry luggage down there. Room was a decent size wish it was a little bigger, and bathroom had a heated flood which was nice. Overall found it overpriced for what it was but it was a decent stay.

We loved this hotel, and the fact that it was nestled away from everything in the area. We were upgraded to an ocean room on-site, the restaurant, while expense, was delicious, the room was comfortable, and had everything we needed. Breakfast had a variety of options and the staff was friendly, too. Our own downside was that the shower was a bit small and had an all-in-one body wash/shampoo. That wouldn't stop us from staying again; we'd just bring our own next time. Out of all of the hotels on our 10-day trip, this one is definitely in our top 3 favorites.

My spouse and I booked the Fosshotel Hellnar as a stop on our Iceland road trip. It ended up being the perfect location to stop after 1 day travel from Reykjavik and partway around the Snaefellsnes peninsula. We were cold and tired by that point and the Fosshotel was so comfortable on our arrival. The fireplace in the lobby was very inviting. The room was spacious, comfortable and the heated bathroom floor tiles were such an appreciated luxury to us that day. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant as well as their breakfast buffet. All of the food was delicious. The prices were shocking to us in Canadian dollars but we got used to that in Iceland after a while. For the large portions and great quality, the prices were comparatively fair. The hotel didn't have some of the amenities that we had in other stays during our trip but the location was beautiful. We had a gorgeous view of the glacier from our room before rain and fog settled in low for the evening.

Room was our smallest of the whole trip but really nice and clean. The lobby area is very nice and perfect for relaxing in. Some of the buildings need a coat of paint but interiors are very nice. Scenery around the hotel is very nice.

We stayed in superior double room. It’s spacious and clean. We had zero water pressure for showers. It’s a bummer after we paid for the upgraded room.We felt it was not worth the cost. The location is also very remote. Not a great place to drive to, if you hit bad weather.

Beautiful location on Snaefesnes. Amazing views. Room (we stayed in a cabin) isn’t large, but was well-appointed and very comfortable. Great included breakfast. We also enjoyed our supper at the hotel restaurant.

Out of the 6 hotels we stayed in Iceland, this one had the smallest rooms. Not very soundproof. The queen and twin options are grouped together for booking however when we asked for a twin room, we were told we had to pay an upgrade fee. When I pointed that out to the receptionist, they didn’t respond. Then they looked on the computer and told me they had no rooms available for twin and asked if “is it a big deal?”.
Out of the 6 hotels we stayed in Iceland, this one had the smallest rooms. Not very soundproof. The rooms were very bare bones: small, dark cheap sheets, horrible bathroom with almost no water flow from shower. It works to spend the night but not for 350€. Other hotels in Iceland in this price range were much better. This was the worst hotel on our 2-week trip.

Beautiful location and friendlt staff at reseption, BUT :We had a room that was close to the washing mashines, they were noisy. Also, the door to the bathroom stuck several times, and the door to the shower didnt work properly. We told reseption immedeately, we were told they would speak with someone, nothing happend. Also the person serving in the dining room didnt know how to handle allergies, and there were no alternatives for bread and dessert for people with nut allergies. All in all: low standard compered to price: NOT worth the money

The property is gorgeous and well-maintained. The lady who assisted me when I arrived at the hotel was impolite and provided poor service. I had to return to the registration desk after being allocated my room, and there was someone else there who was really friendly and attentive. The smell of food from the kitchen permeates all of the rooms on the right side of the property, and all of my garments smelled like food. The restaurant is neither the finest nor the worst; it is simply ok, but there are no other options available artound. The best thing about this location is the facilities, which are nicely maintained. Aside from that rude lady, everyone else was really nice and attentive.

Amazing stay! The staff was wonderful, especially Eva; she arranged a hotel transfer for us and was a wealth of information about the local area. We were fortunate to see the northern lights, which were easily visible in the parking lot of the hotel. Book this hotel and don’t look back.

We stayed in 8 different hotels during our trip to Iceland and Fosshotel Hellnar was probably our favorite. Great location, comfortable rooms, and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. We would definitely return to this hotel.
We stayed in 8 different hotels during our trip to Iceland and Fosshotel Hellnar was probably our favorite. Great location, comfortable rooms, and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. We would definitely return to this hotel.

One of the most beautiful hotel that have stayed in. Love it for the hospitality and views are breathtaking especially the sea+morning sunrise. Receptionists were very helpful and friendly - they knocked on our door to let us know on the aurora sighting as was awaiting it. Recommend to stay 2 nights or more as our 1 night was too short. Breakfast was lovely & night having a cold Iceland beer was great! Thank you so much for the experience & warm welcome!

Great views to the sea, both from the room and from the restaurant, wonderfully located between the Snaefellsnes glacier and ocean, calm room, really sympathetic personnel, floor heating in the bathroom, however, rather small room. Good food, especially the cheesecake was great 😊

Beautiful location, we had a family room with two beds and a sofa. It was large and clean. Restaurant is expensive and only option in Hellnar, but a short drive or hike to Arnarstapi you have a lot more options.

My spouse and I booked the Fosshotel Hellnar as a stop on our Iceland road trip. It ended up being the perfect location to stop after 1 day travel from Reykjavik and partway around the Snaefellsnes peninsula. The room was spacious, comfortable and the heated bathroom floor tiles were such an appreciated luxury to us that day. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant as well as their breakfast buffet. All of the food was delicious. The prices were shocking to us in Canadian dollars but we got used to that in Iceland after a while. For the large portions and great quality, the prices were comparatively fair. The hotel didn't have some of the amenities that we had in other stays during our trip but the location was beautiful. We had a gorgeous view of the glacier from our room before rain and fog settled in low for the evening.

Beautiful location on Snaefesnes. Amazing views. Room (we stayed in a cabin) isn’t large, but was well-appointed and very comfortable. Great included breakfast. We also enjoyed our supper at the hotel restaurant.

The property is great, however, is not similar to other Fosshotels. The restaurant had less options and there were no spa (hot tub or sauna) amenities. The location and views were great and the rooms were clean, but if you are expecting similar amenities to other Fosshotel locations you will be a bit disappointed.

We checked in a day early after an abysmal experience at our previous hotel - and we’re glad we did! Beautiful location, comfortable beds, spotless room, exceptional staff, and amazing breakfasts and dinners. This was a truly memorable place.

El mejor hotel que hemos estado en nuestro viaje de 15 días por Islandia y con el mejor desayuno que ha sido muy completo. El único problema ha sido que las luces del porche de las casitas de madera no se han apagado en toda la noche y eso no facilitaba ver las auroras boreales que asomaban detrás de las nubes. No lo digo como crítica, sino para que lo tengan en cuenta para los demás huéspedes. Por lo demás, el hotel es fantástico, hasta en su ubicación.

We upgraded to an ocean-view room, which looked over the rooftops of the neighboring property and then the ocean. Nice to look at while sorting in bed. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The heated floors in the bathroom get 6+ stars! Our included breakfast buffet had lots of choices, but the eggs, sausage and bacon were luke warm. Coffee machine gets high marks, too. The friendly and helpful staff warmly welcomed us and dinner in the onsite restaurant our first night was very good. We had the cod.

What a great location for exploring the peninsula. The free breakfast was outstanding. We also had dinner one night with complimentary drinks provided at check in and it was delicious. Having the restaurant on property is key since it’s a remote area and there aren’t many dining options. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were very helpful and polite. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
