Our room was top shelf. We enjoyed hearty Scottish breakfasts. The terrace and bar summery feeling are worth the view; the selection of drinks, snacks and meals delicious! We simply loved our overall experience: relaxing but offering a night life too! ❤️ tried haggis for the first time and had seconds so ….👍👍👍. Easy walk to everywhere!

Very beautifully decorated. Bathroom and shower were very good. Hotel bars and restaurants and bars were very busy and noisy. Music volume should be lower but patrons were enjoying the vibe. A real hang our for people. Everyone seemed to be having fun.

I choose a property with a lift as have bad knees. The lift only serves 1/3 property. This wasn’t made clear on the Expedia website. Receptionist clearly judged I could walk up two lifts despite asking to use the lift. No clearly defined reception area. Toothpaste all down the back of the en-suite door. No way of adjusting room temperature in your room. Old sash window nightmare to open to cool room. I had to stand on the dressing table and move mirror. To say I booked as a treat for myself just left feeling underwhelmed.

Really enjoyed our stay at Black Ivy. Beautiful inside and out and in great location. Probably the best breakfast I’ve ever had - all brought to you, even the drinks. Ordered porridge and it came freshly made with raspberries, blueberries and seeds. Perfect! The cooked breakfast was so good as well. Bedroom overlooked the park and was immaculate with an incredibly comfortable bed. Will definitely be back.

Black Ivy was a wonderful choice to stay in Edinburgh. The staff were top notch and the food was delicious. The room was so clean and cosy. Plus, the atmosphere in the restaurant was so trendy! I loved hanging out there. The staff went out of the way to help me out whenever I needed something or had a question. Special shout out to Craig the manager!

I was up in Edinburgh for an exam. My room was quiet, minimal noise, dark at night. The bed (pillows and mattress) were perfect for me. I slept really well for the first time in months the night after my exam. It's stylish and clean. Had a wonderful stay, thank you. Also staff kibdly looked after my heavy suitcase and bag (full of books) after check out so I can get out and about without pulling heavy bags around.

Black Ivy is a lovely hotel in the center of Edinburgh right next to the Meadows. Its interior and exterior design is wonderful and artsy, with photography in the hallways and rooms. It's really a gem. Our room had a gorgeous park view out to the Meadows and onto the lovely skyline of Edinburgh. The room was clean and modern and had all the amenities (shampoo, shower gel, hair dryer, etc) and it is ecofriendly. The staff is excellent and super helpful. We had a great stay. The Xmas decoration was quite special.

The Black Ivy was so cute! The restaurant is great and it’s nice to have breakfast in your hotel and the rooms are super clean. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The only thing I would say is that the hot water for the shower was not very hot (to be fair I like it basically the temp of the surface of the sun) but it was above warm at best. I liked the tea and cookie set up and the room decor <3

The room was clean and cozy with high ceilings. The bar and restaurant below had fantastic food and drinks. At night, it is a lively seen filled with locals (though this did not disturb any early nights we had)

This hotel is a treasure. The room was clean and comfortable. We dined in the hotel and the food (and cocktails) were excellent and a lovely Christmassy feel. Most of all the customer service was exceptional. A brilliant few days away.

Double Room information was misleading. The room was so small, there is no place to put my two small suitcases. I have to move some of the room furniture to outside. In order to reach so called Wardrobe, you have to walk through on the bed. Despite my complaint to staff, nothing happened. Room is not 13 sq m at all. You will have only 1sq m to move around, Do not book room 107. Your holiday will be ruin.

The staff were cheerful and friendly. Room 211, top floor, was ok but *stifflingly hot* and sleeping was near impossible. To be fair it was during a very hot period in August which I realise may be unusual for Scotland but there was no air conditioning, the window only opened a few centimetres and the fan was all but useless. Altogether it was an expensive and uncomfortable night in a very small room.

Would have ranked higher. Loved the room. However if your not able bodied - there is a lot of stairs to get to room. Our room was also directly above the bar. Loud dance music on sat night and then the rest of the nights not as loud.

Hotel was great, rooms spacious and well decorated. Friendly staff and great food. The only issue was the creaky water pipes, which made a lot of noise at night. It did not ruin the stay but the hotel needs to look into this.

Good property outside of madness but 15 minutes walk from Castle/Royal Mile. Not really a hotel a much as a good large restaurant bar with comfortable rooms. Kind of what we were looking for after 10 days of larger hotels with amenities we never used! Only problem we had was lack of AC. It wasn’ even that hotel but got a bit stuffy.

I stayed here because my daughter's apartment was within walking distance. It was the perfect choice and a great location with shops all around. The restaurant has good food, and the staff is very friendly. Do not book the park view rooms on a Friday or Saturday night because the bar and outside terrace noise is loud until 11 p.m. The rooms in the back are much quieter.

Sadly the stay did not live up to expectation. Upon arrival I didn’t get the room I had pre- paid for and my room had been down graded and the reason given was this was because I’d booked as a solo occupancy. The room wasn’t fit for purpose and left me with a sleepless night. The hotel manager accepted this was a failing on the hotels part and as the hotel was full I was given very little alternatives. Breakfast this morning was equally poor by being served a cremated sausage sandwich. Sadly this showed there is clearly a lack of quality process before food leaves the kitchen or simply a lack of pride by the chef. On a positive note the front of house team were polite and very friendly. I had planned my stay to celebrate my 60th birthday and left me extremely disappointed

Beautiful hotel, perfectly located with amazing staff! Ben makes amazing cocktails and Domenic will hep you with any recommendations ( we meet him at breakfast (amazing restaurant food and service) We will come back for sure!

This hotel is a treasure. The room was clean and comfortable. We dined in the hotel and the food (and cocktails) were excellent and a lovely Christmassy feel. Most of all the customer service was exceptional. A brilliant few days away.

a super friendly staff! I forgot a camera, I called to ask and they told me that they already had it in safekeeping until I got back to the city (we left the hotel to make a trip to the highlands, they even kept our luggage safe) one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in!

Book this place! Now! Everything about it is fantastic, and the neighborhood is quite charming. Great restaurants, parks, and just a short walk to City Centre. Thank you, Black Ivy, for such a lovely stay.

Our room was top shelf. We enjoyed hearty Scottish breakfasts. The terrace and bar summery feeling are worth the view; the selection of drinks, snacks and meals delicious! We simply loved our overall experience: relaxing but offering a night life too! ❤️ tried haggis for the first time and had seconds so ….👍👍👍. Easy walk to everywhere!

Black Ivy is a lovely hotel in the center of Edinburgh right next to the Meadows. Its interior and exterior design is wonderful and artsy, with photography in the hallways and rooms. It's really a gem. Our room had a gorgeous park view out to the Meadows and onto the lovely skyline of Edinburgh. The room was clean and modern and had all the amenities (shampoo, shower gel, hair dryer, etc) and it is ecofriendly. The staff is excellent and super helpful. We had a great stay. The Xmas decoration was quite special.

Good property outside of madness but 15 minutes walk from Castle/Royal Mile. Not really a hotel a much as a good large restaurant bar with comfortable rooms. Kind of what we were looking for after 10 days of larger hotels with amenities we never used! Only problem we had was lack of AC. It wasn’ even that hotel but got a bit stuffy.

Really enjoyed our stay at Black Ivy. Beautiful inside and out and in great location. Probably the best breakfast I’ve ever had - all brought to you, even the drinks. Ordered porridge and it came freshly made with raspberries, blueberries and seeds. Perfect! The cooked breakfast was so good as well. Bedroom overlooked the park and was immaculate with an incredibly comfortable bed. Will definitely be back.

It was a beautiful room and so comfortable. The bed and linens were luxurious. I dined at the hotel 3 times and the food was delicious. I’ll go back again the first chance I get.

Sadly the stay did not live up to expectation. Upon arrival I didn’t get the room I had pre- paid for and my room had been down graded and the reason given was this was because I’d booked as a solo occupancy. The room wasn’t fit for purpose and left me with a sleepless night. The hotel manager accepted this was a failing on the hotels part and as the hotel was full I was given very little alternatives. Breakfast this morning was equally poor by being served a cremated sausage sandwich. Sadly this showed there is clearly a lack of quality process before food leaves the kitchen or simply a lack of pride by the chef. On a positive note the front of house team were polite and very friendly. I had planned my stay to celebrate my 60th birthday and left me extremely disappointed

The room was clean and cozy with high ceilings. The bar and restaurant below had fantastic food and drinks. At night, it is a lively seen filled with locals (though this did not disturb any early nights we had)

The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the restaurant and bar was great. However, while the rooms and beds are fine, there is so much noise. The walls are really thin and sound travels. I am by no means a light sleeper, but on 3 of 4 nights myself and my partner were woken up 2-3 times each night from noisy water pipes, AC ducts and even the poor soul next door vomiting was audible through the walls. I will be happy to come back for food and drinks and functions, but will be looking elsewhere for a place to get a good night's sleep, as even though we were helpfully allowed to swap rooms, the issues persisted, without any compensation being made or offered.

Wonderdul front facing room with bay windows. Wish the windows were a bit more sound proof as restaurant is located below window but they shut down around 10 pm. Overall a wonderful and comfortable stay at a boutique hotel across a lovely park away from the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh. Would happily stay there again.
