Staff were friendly and helpful however we did not like the checkin procedure. Also the hotel’s website is not up to date. There is no restaurant or bar and there is only a small indoor pool not like the one shown in the photos. There is no reception desk either. Therefore your photos on your website need updating too.

Great being right in the middle of town with the price being very moderate. Of course it would make a huge difference if they had a human being at the front desk instead of a row of check-in computers. I couldn’t get in the front door when I arrived because I didn’t have a passcode or card because I hadn’t checked in. (Luckily a human being appeared from somewhere.) Also I couldn’t find anyone to report that the cleaners had not refilled the soap dispenser. The room was spacious, comfortable, clean and well-equipped. The staff I came across randomly seemed to be nice humans. I will stay there again.

Rydges is very inner Darwin city. Quite conveniently located. It’s very clean/ tidy, and very… average ? A 3 night stay for conference education Observation 1) the check in area uses a ‘self serve’ kiosk type idea, where guests log in, check themselves in, and get their own key card… which is a nice concept, but just seemed odd when there are 2 check in staff present at the kiosk, giving you prompts on navigating the individual machines. It all seemed really impersonal and counter-intuitive Mature aged/ elderly guests seemed to struggle a bit with the screens and needed prompts 2) rooms were clean. Bathrooms look renovated, and v.clean. Room decor just seemed very 90’s and really forgotten. AirCon in Darwin is a must. Room aircon just seemed to struggle, needed overnight! But so terribly loud and intrusive. 3) staff were nice, approachable, but poor in numbers Waiting to pick luggage up from storage. Only One person at ‘check in’ , trying to navigate 5 people… making picking up luggage a long drawn out process. No one from the ‘back office’ offered to help. It just seemed poorly supported. Nice things? Centrally located / in room fridges/ Woolworths supermarket nearby/ huge ice machines/ laundry facilities

Very little to like. I concur with the other low ratings going back several years. We moved from a standard to a "premium" room because the room was dusty. The ironing board cover should have been replaced due to it's sad state of wear. You would not use it, for example, to iron anything with light colours. Bathroom sink plug was dirty. Asked for it to be changed. It wasn't. The hotel information on Wotif and other booking sites is misleading. There is no bar, gym, no standard check in desk,as shown in photos. Plenty of restaurants nearby, but not at the hotel. City Views?? What of? Don't stay on any floor with room number ending in 01, as you will be woken every night by the night club in Nuttall Place until 2.30AM. I had earplugs in and was still woken up. The hotel management and staff know all about this going back several years. Complaints on the dull, drab decor were supposedly been addressed by refurbishment years ago. No sign of that happening. $29 a day for car parking! Tiny bays, so not easy to manoeuvre . We would not risk the hire car being damaged by parking on the street where the hotel entrance is located. Broken glass in parking bays due to anti-social behavior. The replies from Rydges manager all follow the same standard apology guff. "Sorry we didn't meet your standards" "Thanks for your review" "Hope you will stay with us next visit" There is more chance of plaiting fog than me staying at this or any other Rydges Hotel.

I enjoyed the self check-in/check-out. Every time i went through reception there was staff there so, if i'd needed any help, they were closeby. The room was nice and clean but perhaps a little dated. The tv was tiny given the size of the room (being a king deluxe room) and the positioning of the furniture meant that even if you had a nice view, you weren't in a position to see it. Otherwise a really comfortable stay, no issues.

The Rydges app worked perfectly, my flight was delayed but no problem with my virtual room key 👍 Communication from Reservations was fast and friendly. Room was nice amd clean and housekeeping very polite.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a very disappointing experience. The reception area was poorly designed, tucked away behind a pole, giving it an unprofessional appearance. The staff also seemed unprofessional, which added to the negative impression. In addition, my room had a musty smell of damp mold that triggered a serious asthma attack. The air felt old and cold, making it difficult to breathe. Unfortunately, this forced me to cancel my plans for the day and cut my trip short. It’s clear that the hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, proper cleaning, and a more welcoming reception area. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you value your health and comfort.

An hour and a half late in checking us in (along with about a dozen other guests). No attempt made to assist with issues this caused - i.e. parking, provide an ETA on how long till could go up. If I hadn't bothered to try the self check-in machine, doubt they would have proactively advised of update. Room was still uncleaned - stains on sheets, bathroom with mess. No thanks not again

We stayed for 10 days and complained alot as the room was never cleaned properly. The room was not vacumed, our cups and spoons were not washed, bed was a hit and miss to how well it was made, bathroom and coffee making area was never wiped down, we had to ask for milk every day, and we ran out of coffee and tea. Instead of going to a hotel it felt like a youth hostel. Probably the worst hotel we have stayed in.

Excellent staff. I had been hospitalised and they asked me if I was well and to just ask if I needed assistance. Rooms basic but very clean. Domestic staff pleasant. Hotels in Darwin are not cheap but as a a mid to upper range, this was reasonably priced.

Great hotel close to the centre of Darwin. Be warned, the informaton about wifi is misleading. Certain parts of the hotel and some rooms will not have access to wifi. I was only on the 2nd floor and i couldn’t use the free wifi.

Central position very convenient, close to information centre, tours picked up from the hotel. The air conditioning in our room was far too cold, asked for an extra blanket, tried turning down the air-con. to a lower temperature, this did not work. Eventually the air-con. was adjusted and was much more comfortable. Enjoyed our stay staff were very good.

Central position very convenient, close to information centre, tours picked up from the hotel. The air conditioning in our room was far too cold, asked for an extra blanket, tried turning down the air-con. to a lower temperature, this did not work. Checkin and check out was quick and easy to use ipads Small window in room made place a little claustrophic feeling otherwise had everything we needed. Staff were very quick to respond to requests. Convenient area to sights Area felt a little disconcerting but there was security everywhere

No restaurant in house even though there is a dedicated space. No bar facilities either. The pool is tiny. The rooms are large but very dated. The shower was a nightmare. Very misleading information on website. Would not recommend to anyone.

I checked in at 1 am and the French Staff were charming and professional with nice smiles and are very welcoming. The hotel was centrally located. I would stay here again as staff are the face of any hotel and night manager French staff was welcoming .

Rydges is very inner Darwin city. Quite conveniently located. It’s very clean/ tidy, and very… average ? A 3 night stay for conference education Observation 1) the check in area uses a ‘self serve’ kiosk type idea, where guests log in, check themselves in, and get their own key card… which is a nice concept, but just seemed odd when there are 2 check in staff present at the kiosk, giving you prompts on navigating the individual machines. It all seemed really impersonal and counter-intuitive Mature aged/ elderly guests seemed to struggle a bit with the screens and needed prompts 2) rooms were clean. Bathrooms look renovated, and v.clean. Room decor just seemed very 90’s and really forgotten. AirCon in Darwin is a must. Room aircon just seemed to struggle, needed overnight! But so terribly loud and intrusive. 3) staff were nice, approachable, but poor in numbers Waiting to pick luggage up from storage. Only One person at ‘check in’ , trying to navigate 5 people… making picking up luggage a long drawn out process. No one from the ‘back office’ offered to help. It just seemed poorly supported. Nice things? Centrally located / in room fridges/ Woolworths supermarket nearby/ huge ice machines/ laundry facilities

An hour and a half late in checking us in (along with about a dozen other guests). No attempt made to assist with issues this caused - i.e. parking, provide an ETA on how long till could go up. If I hadn't bothered to try the self check-in machine, doubt they would have proactively advised of update. Room was still uncleaned - stains on sheets, bathroom with mess. No thanks not again

The staff? What Staff? There was only one staff member who was lovely, helpful and polite. I am not a fan of the contactless system. I like meeting the staff. Plus there really is no room service given you have to go down to the café and collect your meal instead of hotel staff bringing it to you.

It was quiet for where it’s located and the staff were helpful. Other places in Darwin we stayed were higher priced and in even worse conditions so I’d book this place again.

Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay at the Rydges. It was in very easy walking distance to the supermarket and restaurants, and the waterfront was only an easy 12min walk. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful with checkin, changing linen when needed, assisting with later checkout etc. The only small improvement I could suggest, and it isn't massive, but seeing as we didn't have a balcony, having a washing/clothes line outside people could utilise (like the area outside past the glass pool gates) for laundry would be amazing! I don't like to use a dryer as our clothes often shrink.

Excellent staff. I had been hospitalised and they asked me if I was well and to just ask if I needed assistance. Rooms basic but very clean. Domestic staff pleasant. Hotels in Darwin are not cheap but as a a mid to upper range, this was reasonably priced.

Staff were friendly and helpful however we did not like the checkin procedure. Also the hotel’s website is not up to date. There is no restaurant or bar and there is only a small indoor pool not like the one shown in the photos. There is no reception desk either. Therefore your photos on your website need updating too.

We chose Rydges because of excellent experiences, and delicious meals at other Rydges properties. Rydges Darwin had two positives, the helpful and attentive reception staff and the well designed, spacious room. Room had all the usual amenities, good sized bathroom, large desk with chairs. The blackout blind was excellent. Rooms on higher floors would have good views of Darwin. Ours did not. Otherwise our stay was disappointing. The new self check-in kiosks were not functioning properly, the helpful reception staff were clearly frustrated with the on-going malfunctions. So were we. There is no restaurant on the premises. For breakfast we were given vouchers to a “greasy spoon” down the street, which we had inspected and rejected the day before when looking for a quick lunch. The three options for breakfast, all featured fat, carbohydrate, sugar or cholesterol. “Orange” juice was a bottle of brown sludge, which we refused, and paid extra for the freshly squeezed variety. We also paid extra for wholegrain toast, which was barely warm bread, drenched with butter. There was no fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt or vegetables. I suspect room service meals come from the same place. We will take care to enquire carefully into the amenity of Rydges properties before booking at another.

The hotel was built in 1997 and the style and joinery has not changed. All is clean and tidy, very quiet, and staff friendly and helpful. Great central location. The superior room was large, but there are no extra fittings so it feels spartan, particularly with the small TV. The auto emails and sms reminders about check-out are tedious, and although we had a late 2pm check-out, the reminders kept saying 10:30am, and the room card disabled at 10:30am. A good stay though, and I would book again.

Expensive for what you get. It’s in the CBD amd cheap to get Ubers everywhere, which is better as the CPD isnt great for walking around. We wouldn’t bother with the studio. The window is tiny, the room is dark and the kitchen facilities are poor. Comfy bed and great bathroom though.
