The staff were very friendly but it was unclear that the rooms were above a pub. Check in was a little confusing to find and access to the rooms through the pub was closed off after hours. If the pub was closed you had to enter through the fire escape. There were no staff after hours in case anything happened. The bed was two twins pushed together so for two people it was a bit uncomfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the pub atmosphere on a Friday/Saturday night was fun with live music. Overall, the Wellington was enjoyable as a pub but not as comfortable for a weekend stay.

A great pub with clean, functional Rooms which included aircon (essential right now!) Staff were all wonderful and made the check in / check out all easy. Definitely consider staying here at the top of Gloucester Road.

Parking available on street if pub car park full. Friendly welcome on arrival and help with bags up stairs. Room clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Music in pub below stopped at 11pm so we got a good night's sleep. Air conditioning in the room was very welcome as it was particularly hot when we stayed there. We chose this pub/small hotel solely due to the location which was close to people we were visiting in Bristol. It was some way out of the city centre but was more expensive than some chain hotels in objectively better locations (from a general tourist viewpoint). The room and the bathroom were fine (albeit the bedroom was really quite small), clean, nicely decorated and offering good quality tea/coffee and toiletries. However, all the rooms were accessible only via one (or in this case) two flights of quite steep stairs. The rate of £145 per night did not include breakfast and just felt excessive for the location, even allowing for the fact that it was New Year weekend.
We chose this pub/small hotel solely due to the location which was close to people we were visiting in Bristol. Visiting my daughter at Uni. Ideally located for easy transport inyo the center of Bristol. Booked a double room here which I must say for the very reasonably price was excellent. Bedroom and bathroom were easily as good as any of the branded hotels. Had dinnef with my daughter here which was very good and again reasonably priced. Guiness was pretty good too probably the best zi e had in Bristol. Staff were friendly and helpful. Check in and out were easy. Parked on site with no issues. All in all ideal would recommended and will definitely stay again onmmy next visit.

It is an excellent hotel, a great place to stay. My room was so clean and comfortable. An lovely bathroom with an excellent shower. I was given a friendly reception on arrival. I had a brilliant evening meal before walking to the local sports stadium to watch a football match. On my return to the hotel there were a lot of people in the bar and there was a superb atmosphere. I retired to my room for a great night's sleep. I woke up next morning to a full English breakfast, it was just a perfect stay. There is a brand new Railway Station within a short walk of the hotel.

I've not stayed here before and was satisfied overall. It is a pub so a little noisy when in the hotel room as it stays open until 12. However, given it is a pub this is to be expected and not really a criticism. (I booked it knowing it was a pub so my own fault!) Facilities in the room were good - excellent shower and bathroom; tea and coffee-making equipment. Breakfast was good, pricing seems similar to other hotels in the city. There was some dust on surfaces in the room. What really stands out here is the staff who were all very friendly and efficient. I can't imagine you get a personal tour of the room in a chain hotel!!

Really nicely furnished and decorated room and bathroom with a lovely comfy bed. A vast bath and shower, a separate seating area for two and a nice hospitality tray. It would have been a great room to catch up on some work if I had needed to. It was also really quiet; I had been a bit worried about this as I have stayed in some pubs where the noise in the room has affected sleep. Some of the furnishings were a little tired. Breakfast was served at 8.30, which in.my opinion is quite late. Had I known this when I booked I wouldn't have paid for it as I had to leave at 8.15 and there was no alternative offered apart from a packet of dry cereal (I had to ask to borrow a bowl and a spoon and go and buy milk) and a sandwich made up the night before which I never got.

We chose the Wellington as we were visiting family living nearby and it didn’t disappoint. The room was very comfortable - lovely and modern, fantastic bathroom and triple glazing to block out potential road noise. We had a great nights sleep and would stay again. Bustling pub with good atmosphere to grab a beer too! The staff were all friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Ps it’s only about £10-12 in an Uber into the city and there are lots of bars, restaurants and cafes within a few minutes walk of The Wellington itself! Location is spot on!

Nicely appointed room but noisy position. You can hear the traffic on the busy road very clearly and also people in the pub downstairs until after 11pm. Staff were friendly but often not around. Wifi in the room was also unreliable.

I had cause to stay here overnight at very short notice. (It is very close to Southmead hospital, which is why I needed to stay.) I needed to rush in in the early evening, collect my key, and then head to the hospital. The staff were fantastic, empathetic and understanding. They gave me specific directions to the hospital, and ensured that I need not worry about anything. Upon my return a couple of hours later they asked how things were and literally “sat me down,” as if I was at home. My room (8) was fantastic, compact and bijou, with loads of cracking little touches. Great shower, great bed, great coffee and biscuits. Very clean. The pub itself is wonderful. Great live music (hopefully booking him for my local in Devon,) great beer and wine and a superbly tender steak which the chef had fussed over . I am a steak man, and it was just perfect. Really good value as well at £18.50. I did not take breakfast as I needed to get back to the hospital but I have a feeling that it would not be a let down. The manager told me to leave my car in the car park whilst I went to see the patient, and to let him know later if I needed the room again tonight. All in all, superb performance by the staff. St Austell Brewery should be very proud of them, and of themselves for running such a great place. I will be back for pleasure soon. (BTW patient all ok and discharged.)

Nicely appointed room but noisy position. You can hear the traffic on the busy road very clearly and also people in the pub downstairs until after 11pm. Staff were friendly but often not around. Wifi in the room was also unreliable.

Visiting my daughter at Uni. Ideally located for easy transport inyo the center of Bristol. Booked a double room here which I must say for the very reasonably price was excellent. Bedroom and bathroom were easily as good as any of the branded hotels. Had dinnef with my daughter here which was very good and again reasonably priced. Guiness was pretty good too probably the best zi e had in Bristol. Staff were friendly and helpful. Check in and out were easy. Parked on site with no issues. All in all ideal would recommended and will definitely stay again onmmy next visit.

It is an excellent hotel, a great place to stay. My room was so clean and comfortable. An lovely bathroom with an excellent shower. I was given a friendly reception on arrival. I had a brilliant evening meal before walking to the local sports stadium to watch a football match. On my return to the hotel there were a lot of people in the bar and there was a superb atmosphere. I retired to my room for a great night's sleep. I woke up next morning to a full English breakfast, it was just a perfect stay. There is a brand new Railway Station within a short walk of the hotel.
It is an excellent hotel, a great place to stay. My room was so clean and comfortable. An lovely bathroom with an excellent shower. I was given a friendly reception on arrival. I had a brilliant evening meal before walking to the local sports stadium to watch a football match. On my return to the hotel there were a lot of people in the bar and there was a superb atmosphere. I retired to my room for a great night's sleep. I woke up next morning to a full English breakfast, it was just a perfect stay. There is a brand new Railway Station within a short walk of the hotel.

We chose the Wellington as we were visiting family living nearby and it didn’t disappoint. The room was very comfortable - lovely and modern, fantastic bathroom and triple glazing to block out potential road noise. We had a great nights sleep and would stay again. Bustling pub with good atmosphere to grab a beer too! The staff were all friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Ps it’s only about £10-12 in an Uber into the city and there are lots of bars, restaurants and cafes within a few minutes walk of The Wellington itself! Location is spot on!

We chose this pub/small hotel solely due to the location which was close to people we were visiting in Bristol. It was some way out of the city centre but was more expensive than some chain hotels in objectively better locations (from a general tourist viewpoint). The room and the bathroom were fine (albeit the bedroom was really quite small), clean, nicely decorated and offering good quality tea/coffee and toiletries. However, all the rooms were accessible only via one (or in this case) two flights of quite steep stairs. The rate of £145 per night did not include breakfast and just felt excessive for the location, even allowing for the fact that it was New Year weekend.

I had cause to stay here overnight at very short notice. (It is very close to Southmead hospital, which is why I needed to stay.) I needed to rush in in the early evening, collect my key, and then head to the hospital. The staff were fantastic, empathetic and understanding. They gave me specific directions to the hospital, and ensured that I need not worry about anything. Upon my return a couple of hours later they asked how things were and literally “sat me down,” as if I was at home. My room (8) was fantastic, compact and bijou, with loads of cracking little touches. Great shower, great bed, great coffee and biscuits. Very clean. The pub itself is wonderful. Great live music (hopefully booking him for my local in Devon,) great beer and wine and a superbly tender steak which the chef had fussed over . I am a steak man, and it was just perfect. Really good value as well at £18.50. I did not take breakfast as I needed to get back to the hospital but I have a feeling that it would not be a let down. The manager told me to leave my car in the car park whilst I went to see the patient, and to let him know later if I needed the room again tonight. All in all, superb performance by the staff. St Austell Brewery should be very proud of them, and of themselves for running such a great place. I will be back for pleasure soon. (BTW patient all ok and discharged.)

Breakfast was limited to cooked food only so felt restricted, no fruit, yoghurt or pastries options which would have been my preference and no fruit juice offered. Cooked food was good on Saturday morning but not so good and half portions on Sunday morning and not so well presented which was a shame. A bit noisy in the evenings for us but food was good if a little slow to arrive on Friday evening.

Really nicely furnished and decorated room and bathroom with a lovely comfy bed. A vast bath and shower, a separate seating area for two and a nice hospitality tray. It would have been a great room to catch up on some work if I had needed to. It was also really quiet; I had been a bit worried about this as I have stayed in some pubs where the noise in the room has affected sleep. Some of the furnishings were a little tired. Breakfast was served at 8.30, which in.my opinion is quite late. Had I known this when I booked I wouldn't have paid for it as I had to leave at 8.15 and there was no alternative offered apart from a packet of dry cereal (I had to ask to borrow a bowl and a spoon and go and buy milk) and a sandwich made up the night before which I never got.

very loud especially late at night - food OK - have a gluten intolerance and there was nothing for me one morning and another morning the chef did not turn up although they did refund me. Parking was hard to get into. No handrail on the stairs which was dangerous - you are locked in at night although there is a fire escape in case of an emergency.

Chose this property as near our son-room was great,clean and quite large but are narrow stairs up to rooms .Didnt notice any noise from pub downstairs. Pub was great and breakfast fab but check have dining food in evening as was not available when we were there. Would stay again though was an enjoyable stay.

We had an amazing stay at The Wellington. The staff were so friendly, we ate both dinner and breakfast at the pub and the food was out of this world good!! Perfect stay, couldn't recommend more!

We had a couples weekend away. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was amazing and comfortable. Food took a little time to come out, however was well worth the wait! Giant pizzas (enough for 2 of us to share) and highly recommend the ham croquettes!! Buses to the city centre are just outside and frequent. Thank you so much, we will definitely come back again.

This is a fantastic pub in the heart of Bristol. It is a great example of how an old building should and could be maintained. The bar is super clean and comfortable. Great areas for eating, drinking and it has a great "town" pub garden. The rooms are really, really comfortable. Breakfast was brilliant. It is great value and a great venue.

I stayed there one night for business - i was in room 5, on the first floor, by the access door. The rooms are very noisy: poor soundproofing meant that noise came from the pub downstairs, the rooms on both side (I could hear my neighbours cough as clearly as if they were in my room) and outside (one window was soundproofed but not the french door leading on to the balcony - what is the point?) The room cleaning was ok but the bathroom did smell of mould, and the shower is full of it - please clean it. The amenities are basic but fine. Coffee machine was a nice touch, as well as the jug of fresh milk in the fridge. The tables in the pub could have done with a clean. The staff was ok and so was the food. I won't stay again.

Really friendly staff who were more than happy to help me carry things upstairs with having injured wrist and as we were going to be away early also provided some breakfast bits for us. Very comfortable room, would stay again :)
