Cape Sounio, a Resort to Live

We rented an infinity villa overlooking the Temple of Poseidon. A stunning property with great location. The villa was very clean and luxurious and we spent much time in the pool in the morning and after dinner, preferring to spend the day at the beach (although if you wanted seclusion - you could stay all day by your private pool). The food served in the buffet restaurant was very good, locally sourced products but at 70€ per head was expensive for light eaters. To the resort management - if you want to make the resort perfect - offer more traditional Greek fare in the pool bar for lunch. I’m sure many people like curried chicken souvlaki, but we came to Greece for traditional food and would have preferred traditional souvlaki. The resort staff were amazing - friendly and very welcoming offering great service. Would score 8/10 - fix the souvlaki and it will be 10/10.

We had an amazing 7 days at the resort. Our kids love everything about this place, from the food, the pool, the beach, the activities by Grecoland (kids’ park), the giant human-size chess board & ping-pong table. For the adults, nightly live band performances, the spa & gym, and the fine dinings were wonderful & impeccable. The wine recommendation from their in-house expert was always spot on. We also felt safe enough to let the kids run around the resort on their own. Best of all, the staff members were friendly and helpful. We had tremendous help from Nikos at the reception for recommendations & arrangement regarding restaurants, excursions and tours. We didn’t want to leave to go home!

We visited Cape Sounio Grecotel Resort in October with our three children (2, 6, and 10) and had a fantastic stay. Check-in was warm and efficient, and the staff gave a clear introduction to the resort, the Grecotel app, and the WhatsApp service, which worked flawlessly. We were generously upgraded from a family apartment to a beautiful villa in celebration of our wedding anniversary. The welcome amenities — flowers, cake, sparkling wine, smoothies, and chocolates — made the experience truly special. The villa was spacious, elegant, spotless, and featured two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a heated private pool, a large terrace, and breathtaking views of the bay and the Temple of Poseidon. We loved watching the sunrise and using the outdoor showers. With young children, we mainly ate at the buffet restaurant, which was excellent with a wide variety of Greek and international dishes. Sitting outside with views of the temple was a highlight. Room service was also delicious and generous. The beach, set in a sheltered cove, was perfect even in October, with calm and warm water ideal for the kids. We used the concierge twice — for a visit to the Temple of Poseidon and for transport to Athens — and both arrangements were handled perfectly. The staff throughout the resort were exceptionally kind, attentive, and welcoming, contributing greatly to the memorable atmosphere. Had such a wonderful stay. We got upgraded due to Expedia Gold Membership Status which was a very nice surprise. Strawberries and Prosecco we’re also waiting in our room - another lovely gesture. Service is we polite and attentive. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. The room was ever so slightly dated but nothing I couldn’t look past. Shower had brilliant water pressure and the bed was very comfortable. The property itself is stunning and the area around the pool simply gorgeous. How many hotels are there where you can see the Temple of Poseidon while swimming in the pool?! Private pool with another gorgeous view of the temple isnt to be missed either. View from the terrace is also amazing. Would not hesitate to go back; in fact, we already booked the in-laws a 3 night stay for the autumn.

Service was unbelievably good and little touches were everywhere - multiple welcome drinks, winetasting event by the pool with very knowledgeable sommelier, good live music every night, incredible room service breakfast for very little extra cost or big breakfast buffet with fresh food. Rooms were great, so was pool and beach amenities.

This is a beautiful hotel in an amazing location. We stayed in a temple villa, which was amazing and had a small infinity pool, which made it really easy for us and the kids to do whatever we wanted. Food and drinks were great - the only negative I have is that if you don't have the buffet included the price is ridiculously high - more than the a la carte restuarants! just needs a rethink for me.

The Buffet dinner was expensive for what it offered; room service menu was better value. The a al carte restaurant options were not available every night, and fully booked when we tried. The breakfast buffet (included) was good. The "Superior bungalow" was a strange layout with an open plan bathroom with a movable/ sliding screen; the bath had no tap, so had to be filled with the flexible hand shower - which was do-able but a bit strange. Lighting was also a bit strange, with numerous lights and slightly randomly located switches, most of these did not provide much light. The access door was a sliding glass door panel, the locking of which was using the room card; successfully achieving this was a bit of an art, and it was not immediately intuitive. A full size wooden "shutter" door provided privacy across the glass access door at night, but had sagged on its hinges so was hard to close. the remainder of the glass window was coverable by an electric roller blind. Gym and spa pool were good, as was the outdoor pool. The private beach - accessible by tunnels under the road - was pleasant with many sun loungers and a good view of the Poseidon Temple. Both beach and main pool had bar/bistros providing a reasonable range. The temple was about a 1.6km walk along the road from the hotel, which was wide and fairly quiet. The hotel would arrange a taxi at a price. Visiting just before sunset gave good colours for photography, but also seemed to be when a number of coach tours arrived.

This is a go there and relax place. There is nothing around this place. Ok beach but very well designed pool and grounds. Recommended for couples although there were plenty of families.

Very poorly designed room! No place in the washroom to put your traveling bag, sink plug was broken we called and during our 4 day stay nobody came to fix it, no table in the living room to have a inroom dinner! Doesn’t worth the cost!

This is a beautiful and peaceful resort. If you want to get away from cues and tour buses —- this is it. Beautiful, clean and with the nicest staff. The only recommendation I have is to add some counter space in the bathroom of the villas and some full length mirrors. Otherwise I highly recommend this resort to anyone that wants to explore the Athens Riviera and get some down time. Thank you to the staff at Cape Sounio — you gave us the perfect Greek vacation!

First we were in a terrible room with smoking smell Than we pay a lot more to upgrade our room and the room was great and all the atmosphere changed for the best

infrastructure hôtel au top, piscine superbe, plage bien aménagée et privée, qualité des restaurants et du pdj, très bon accueil et personnel très agréable, très bien situé pour visiter le temple du cap sounion et à moins d’une heure d’Athènes (mais voiture indispensable car situé à l’écart de tout, ce qui permet la quiétude des lieux). - pas de possibilité de surclassement malgré l’hôtel pas complet. La photo du site pour la chambre vue mer ne reflète plus vraiment la chambre d’aujourd’hui car un rafraîchissement serait bienvenu (chambre un peu vieillotte). Nous étions de passage pour deux jours et notre chambre n’a pas été nettoyée (oubli), ceci est peu compréhensible pour un hôtel de ce standing…

The Junior suite was very small and more the size of a standard room and had a terrible view of rooftops and a road. We requested an upgrade and was willing to pay for it, but they did not attempt to.accomodate us at all, nor to follow up on our request. This seriously affected our stay as the beach and pool were both too layput .

We spent a week at this hotel and it’s a 5-star hotel, we had one of there villas and we really got the royal treatment from the staff and director - Can highly recommend this hotel and a specially the Villas with private pool - Perfect get away , if privacy is what you want and still have the best view from your infinity pool on Poseidons Temple across the bay -

Beautiful oasis outside of the city. If you prefer a quiet resort without too much traffic and tourists, this place is amazing.

great team at the hotel. Christos in the restaurant was amazing. breakfasts were every good but dinner and the meals at the restaurant were not as expected - and should have been better. beach and pool - were beautiful - a beautiful place to stay and unwind.
