We were disappointed in this property. It is very old and outdated (except for the lobby area which was quite nice). We arrived after dark, the parking lot had few working lights. Just a few lights lit up the entrance. It felt very unsafe. The hallways to the room were were dirty and the wallpaper was peeling off. The room itself was dirty, dead bugs aling the baseboards, it smelled musty. I could go on, but you probably get the picture. We go to Williamsburg alot and there are way better options for accommodations.

We had a great time, but the outside lights were not working the time we were there. Didn't feel safe getting to and from car at night from the parking lot.

The room was quiet. Staff was very nice. All the icemakers were not operating. The bath tub calk had mildew stains. One of the bathroom lights were burned out. There were dirty shot cups left from one of the previous guests in our room. There was random trash all around the hotel. Was disapointed.

I enjoyed being able to go outside by the fire pit at night. It was also a nice option to watch a movie in the lobby in the evening. Disappointed that the pool and hot tub was dirty and not functioning but overall was a nice stay

Poorly cared for this Historical site. Rooms are dated, not super clean, had to ask for towels moldy smell under sink area. Bathtub no safety strips, I fell, badly bruised. Coorporate needs to pay a visit to this site, unannounced. Mold growing in the inside pool area, the hot tub out of order. Lack of care and help for this place. Find a better place to stay...

The complimentary breakfast was decent. The heated indoor pool was nice to have for the kids as well.

Property was older but in great shape. Huge facility with lots of amenities. Indoor and outdoor pools were clean but the hot tub was out of order. Breakfast was good, needed more options but was included in price so was good.

Everything was great with the exception that certain elevators were out of service and you had to walk ALONG WAY to get to your room.

The rooms need remodeling/updated. There were stains on the carpet, one looked like plastic melted on carpet. The Shower/tub had mold or rust around the fixture. Headboard loose. No lighting in some areas of corridors & stairwell. Dim lighting around the hotel but little to none in the parking lot which made us uneasy walking from car to lobby. Breakfast was average.The hotel is large, grounds are nice but needs after winter maintenance. Nice sitting areas outside. Bar/lounge was closed for maintenance. Gentleman at front desk was friendly & pleasant. Some updates & remodeling will make this a great hotel.

The property was run down. A tree was growing out of the outdoor hot tub. The pit door pool wasn’t open u til the last day of our stay and the temperature I. The indoor pool was in the upper 80s and you couldn’t remain there. The breakfast was just a typical small continental breakfast. The hotel had no restaurant and only the individual rooms were air conditioned. All public areas were very warm. They did not provide any cleaning services for rooms if you were there for 3 nights or less. The small trash cans filled up and we had no place to dispose of the trash. They were very misleading and not worth the cost to stay there.

Found a used, fake nail in my bed indicating the bed had not been changed out. Nothing was done about it. Bathroom was tiny and dirty. Whole experience was gross.

The breakfast doesn’t offer enough food choices. It could use more thorough cleaning. The tub was stained and looked nasty. I was looking forward to soaking in a tub. Didn’t happen. Staff is difficult to locate.

Unfortunatley this place needs help. The lobby looks nice, but once you get onto your floor, the atmosphere changes. Carpets dirty. Found dead roaches in the bathroom. Mold throughout shower. Dead bugs in light fixtures. Paint peeling off walls. Holes/knicks in walls. Completely worn out hallways. I am sure the cleaning staff does their best with what they have to work with. The 2nd-4th floors need upgraded. I honestly would have left upon check in, but we arrived closed to midnight and had no choice. I paid $130 for 11 hours and my kids and I did not sleep well due to the bug/roach sightings.

Most of the Hotel public areas were nice and well maintained. My room on the third floor was alittle dated. Beds were comfortable. Seemed neat and clean. Problem was the bath room. The tub water dripped constantly. Could not get it to turn off. During my two night stay. I killed 5 roaches. All in the tub toilet area.

The room was very dirty when we got there. An access panel had fallen out of the wall, and the TV did not work. I told the front desk and someone did come by and move furniture to look at the cable wire, but the TV was never fixed & it was left more dirty than before with moving the furniture. I was told they were understaffed and no one could clean my room, so I asked for a vacuum cleaner and literally vacuumed the room myself. Visible dirt and dust everywhere and very much on the heater vent. The parking lot did not have any streetlights on. It was completely dark at night which could have been a very unsafe situation. The breakfast was cold and items not restocked.

Lobby looked great .. the person who checked us in was super nice abd friendly. Pool was nice kids had fun. There was a dead roach in the pool room.. thay didbt bother me to much because they like that wnviorment. Also found 6 more in our room. Small ones. 2 in the bathroom. The rest near the door to the hallway. And there was a dead one in the hallway near elevators. The besd a super uncomfortable the A/C wasnt working right either. Breakfast was ok. But only had scambled eggs or biscuts and gravy for hot food. Then toasts abd bagels and yogurts abd stuff.

Do not be misled by the hotel’s photos—this property falls far short of expectations. While there are a few positives, such as an aesthetically pleasing lobby and a basic yet satisfactory continental breakfast, the overall experience was highly disappointing. Upon entering our first room, we immediately encountered multiple issues: the television was inoperable, the refrigerator was dirty with dried residue on the shelves, and the hair dryer did not work. After notifying the front desk, they kindly offered to switch our room, which was appreciated—until further issues arose. In the second room, the hair dryer also did not work. After calling the front desk from my personal phone (as the in-room telephone was nonfunctional), I was assured that someone would address the issue, but no one ever arrived. Additionally, we noticed a pillowcase with a hole, cobwebs in the corners, carpets were stained and, most concerning of all, cockroaches in the room. This hotel has the potential to be a great stay, but it is clear that management does not prioritize room maintenance, guest satisfaction or cleanliness. Until significant improvements are made, I strongly recommend avoiding this property.

I had cockroaches in my room. When I brought this up to the front desk manager and then showed her the photos of said roaches, she was seated in her chair, gave no eye contact and said "So you'll be checking out?". There was zero apathy or concern re: this fact. I then asked "frankly how long have you known about this problem?" She then said "I guess you'll want a refund?" This is the absolute worst experience I have ever had with an Expedia represented property. Deeply disappointed and still have not gotten this "refund" back. Despicable.

Corridors are old, rooms need updating. Reception and common areas are excellent and to an extent make the rest look tired

The hotel lobby was the nicest part of the hotel. I am guessing it was recently redone as the rest of the hotel is very outdated. The carpet is old and stained and has a musty smell. It should be replaced. The bedding on the beds appeared to be for the wrong size bed as it didn't cover the mattress and the mattress stains were evident. The fridge made loud noises that sounded like a hamster running all night. The toilet ran a lot and we had to jiggle the handle. The ice machines on floors 4 and 3 did not work, so, we had to go to the one on floor 1 for ice every day. Only 1 washer and 1 dryer were working. The clothes were not fully dry after running the dryer for 1 cycle. The laundry was one of the reasons I picked this hotel as we were in town for a tournament and had to wash the uniforms. The breakfast was your usual small buffet. The area was quiet and parking was plentiful. We didn't use the pool/hot tub, but some of our friends did and they enjoyed it. The Wi-Fi was outstanding and I don't say that very often. The staff was just ok on customer service.

For what we paid for our 2 night stay, the hotel was great and a great deal. The lobby area and main hotel areas are great. The actual rooms are a little dingy and the bathroom/shower room is so small it is hard to move around in, and was in need of some repair, but all in all very decent place.

The property was quite nice. Nicely decorated for Halloween. The common areas were lovely. Our king bed room was spacious, the furnishings were nice. The bathroom was very small. The only complaints were that the bathtub didn't want to drain and the toilet moaned when flushed. But that could have been the alleged properly's ghost!

Positives: The lobby and grounds are very nice. Some of the historical elements of the site are interesting. The breakfast was good with decent variety and options. Each of the rooms had a refrigerator and a balcony. The lady at the front desk was helpful and efficient. Negatives: The parking lot was very dark in the evening. The hallways were musty and very dated. The bathroom was too small and in one of the rooms it needed repairs. The HVAC is loud. The rooms were dark and dated. Overall: The men in the group thought the hotel was fine for a short stay. They ladies would have rather stayed somewhere else.

Door to balcony was bolted/locked shut. The internet did not work and, when calling desk the evening of arrival to inquire, was told, "We're resetting the wi-fi after all, we have 150 people trying to log onto it". Not fixed before we departed the next day. It was a bed and a shower. Breakfast was basically inedible. The coffee was brown water. The instant Quaker Oats tasted "off". (stale and old). The scrambled egg was typical eggs from a bag.

Dated hotel and conference center. The beds sagged in the middle, the carpets were pretty battered and the decor is well used. The hotel was clean enough and the location was great to Williamsburg as well as Busch Gardens. THey have signs that say refurbishing rooms but think they need to work more quickly.

Loved the fact that the rooms have balconies. Rooms kind of outdated refrigerator did not work tall it kept running the TVs in the room are very small. Carpets and hallway need to be replaced. Ice machine on our floor was not in service. On the upside customer service was very pleasant

The staff was helpful, ver professional and nice. The lobby is really nice. However the hotel and rooms need updating. The entrance is dark there are no lights at first we thought we got scam and it was an abandoned hotel. Our first room the lights didn’t work, the second room was infested with roaches, the third one was dirty and there were dead bugs, the forth room was ok, but carpet was so old and coming apart. We were so disappointed. We will not stay again or recommend staying.

The stay was pleasant, staff was friendly and helpful! The kids loved the pool, it was quite hot in the pool room indoors but thats ok! Overall we enjoyed our visit to Fort Magruder.

Multiple issues. Arrived at 3:05p. Not busy and asked receptionist about check-in. Very quick reply that room wasn’t ready and to come back closer to 4. Sat on far side of lobby for 10-15 min. As we had plans that we needed to leave for, I went to ask if ok to leave and if they would be sure to hold room for a 10p check-in given our event. There was a new person at the desk, and he quickly said that room was ready and reached into a stack and pulled out keys and check-in info that had been there for some time. Additionally, ceiling in room had what appeared to be a mold stain. Finally, no hot water the next morning for shower. Would not recommend this property.

Service was great. We came in super late after a long day at Busch gardens. Plenty of parking. Check in was easy and the employee at the front was kind and personable. Room was spotlessly clean although was old and in need of maintenance and repair. The carpet had duct tape on it. There were peels and long cracks in the paint, obvious water damage. The toilet seat was old and the plastic was flaking off of it. Some of the pillows were stained. However like I mentioned the room was very clean. No evidence of bugs or hair or dust. Beds were comfortable and we all slept well. We appreciated the free breakfast and utilized the indoor pool and hot tub. There was much mildew along the pool deck. I think this hotel needs some rehabbing but the employees have done a good job keeping what they have clean and sanitized. I would stay here again, happily. The price was right and we felt safe.

Had such a nice time I booked it again on my way back from visiting family. Had a great experience upon check-in, staff was friendly and helpful. However, the woman that works mornings/noon check out was just offensive. I had arranged for a later check out because our flight was later in the day and was told noon when we checked in. I was downstairs the next morning, the woman at the desk called my children and told them "they needed to leave the hotel". When I returned to the room and called down make sure there was no issue, she just laid into me saying she had no notes about our extended time and we need to leave at 11am or there would be a charge. When I said we had until noon she promptly informed me "well its 12:02 and you are still in the room!" To which I informed her was because I was on the phone with her. She hung up on me. When I turned in keys I asked for a receipt and an apology for treating me and my children as if we did something wrong or were trying to take advantage of the hotel. She refused to apologize just kept repeating "Have a nice day" in a condescending tone. The staff there is night and day. Both check ins no issue. But both check outs automatic attitude. Don't know if this woman hates her job or life itself but I also overheard her complaining to another employee about a guest. She really has it out for the guests, uses us to vent her frustrations on. I highly suggest management hires a secret guest so they can see and have them ask for things.

Staffs customer service was incredibly poor overall. No one wanted to help, I called downstairs to inquire about the poor quality of bed… no hot water… mattress coils were broken. The elevator is broken, no toilet paper in room, microwave located in lobby didn’t work.. ice machine on our floor didn’t work.. went to fourth floor instead… We would never stay or recommend this location. We stay in Williamsburg twice a month.

Great location, historical, close to area attractions. Only negative is hotel maintenance seems to be lacking. I.e., hallway carpets worn out in spots, most ice makers out of order, noisy AC.

I wish Hotels.com would have a box to check if you are bring a pet along. I saw the hotel was pet friendly but they were not aware we were bringing along our dog. They accommodated us no problem. Great location between Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens.

Although the large hotel and conference center complex lies about 1.5 miles from the entry to historic Williamsburg, the walk to and from is easy and pleasant. In addition, the hotel is served by a city bus. In fact, I arrived in Williamsburg by train and caught a city bus straight to the hotel. The property itself is beginning to show a few signs of age but remains clean and tidy. The fitness center is well equipped, and the daily morning breakfast filling. The indoor pool was a treat before my daily strolls to historic Williamsburg. The front desk ckerks were courteous and efficient.

We stayed on a weekday and the breakfast options were very slim (no eggs or meat). Bathroom is very small and outdated. Room did not have a microwave so don't expect to have leftovers warm. Overall, we'll look for a more modern place next trip.

Love it. We have stayed several times. For the past 2 trips...over 12 months the bar and restaurant have been being remodeled. I've never seen a contracting crew. If it's not going to open...they should just say so. In December the breakfast was amazing, with eggs, sausage gravy and waffles..this year...bagels and muffin with an apple, cereal and oatmeal. One toaster for a 150 bed hotel is not quite enough. On the upside...the place was very clean and smelled good. I would still stay again.

Great location and price. Room was clean but property is outdated. Toilet made very loud high pitched noise when flushed. No hot breakfast( normally does?) the front desk staff was nice and helpful.

The property itself is nice, if a bit dated. The mattress was extremely comfortable, but the bed frame creaked. There was a decent sized refrigerator, but no microwave and a cheap coffee maker. Indoor pool was nice as was the hot tub. The breakfast was a bit skimpy, though kids will love the waffle makers. Since we visited in mid- September, it might be more complete in season. The coffee shop was closed. Also, room cleaning was by request only. This was not communicated up front, we only found out after we asked. Overall, more than adequate, but with a little love, it could be truly charming.
