Lovely old building with creaky floors and plenty of character. Basic rooms but clean and comfy. Well stocked bar, good food served by friendly staff. The parking is a bit tight for bigger cars.

Great location, parking awkward and limited, property rather tired in places, needs a a refurb. Breakfast (full English especially) was poor value for money. Beer prices were eye wateringly expensive! Fantastic view from the terrace.

The staff at the Royal were extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. The hotel itself is in a wonderful position overlooking the Wye Valley. Rooms are very comfortable and spacious. We had a room in the newer building with fabulous views. There is no lift at the hotel. The rooms with easiest access have several steps. The shower is over the bath.. Not wholly suited to thise with mobility issues.

Lovely location for this old coaching inn bult around a courtyard which is the car park, However despite a large number of marked spaces, parking was often difficult. The hotel has had a number of extensions which makes the warren of rooms accessed by numerous stair cases. There is no lift which can make access at the top arduous. Cold water flow on the top floor was slow but just about adequate. Cloud wifi was available but we got better coverage using hot spot from our mobiles. Food was good and service too. Breakfast was excellent.

A nice 2 night stay on way to Tenby. Staff good coped with a really busy Saturday really well. Would have given 5* but for the stairs(an old building my fault didnt check !!) Will stay again lovely receptionist told me what to ask for next time.

The staff were nice and extremely helpful, Food was a little let down as I have got better within the Greene King hotel group, However was more than acceptable. My only criticism was the hotel was a tried in places mostly the carpet in the room and the tiles in the bathroom. Would be happy to stay again.

Had a lovely stay. Some parts of the hotel looked like they could do with a refresh or update. Good room. Bathroom dated. All staff were fantastic. All friendly and attentive. Food was good.

We felt very welcome here. The hotel is well staffed and our room was comfortable and clean. We ate breakfast and evening meal here, both were good. Hotel occupies a great position in the town overlooking the Wye valley. The town centre is a very short walk. Parking is tight but adequate. A USB or 13A socket either side of the bed would have been useful.

the hotel is lovely the rooms could do with a refit but its ok nice fluffy white towels plenty of hot water the room was warm with black out curtains the food is delicious the breakfast is great plenty of choice nothing is to much trouble for the staff staff are also very friendly (special shout out to the lady who welcomes and serves in the breakfast room she is lovely very jolly and welcoming

All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The superior double room was spotlessly clean, with a comfortable king sized bed. The food at the Royal was delicious. It’s outside terrace is a real bonus overlooking the river.

Nice enough hotel with a friendly welcome and a clean room with a comfy bed, the decor is a bit dated in places and the rooms would benefit from redecorating but overall good value for money and situated in probably the best location in Ross on Wye. Unfortunately The Wi-Fi connection is via Sky and was impossible to log on to, they really need to sort this out, I didn’t bother reception with it as we were only there for a night but it was disappointing that something which ought to be so very simple is made awkward in the biggest hotel in the area when everywhere else I’ve stayed in the last ten years can manage to provide working broadband without any faffing about. Overall though a very pleasant stay with nice professional staff and we would all gladly return.

Great Location we had room 27 which was the top floor and a fabulous view of the river. My husband had breakfast and recommended it highly , the quality of the food was excellent and the staff couldn’t do enough for you highly recommended and would stay there again ross and why and nearby towns are just very beautiful and interesting

Felt like we were staying in a family home despite the size of the place. Staff were very welcoming with brilliant service at breakfast. Parking can be tight if you’re in a large car but not a problem for us. The room we had was excellent. A corner room with double aspect and fantastic views over looking the countryside.

Overall a good stay. I had a superior room which was very big with a large bathroom with both a bath and a stand alone shower. Very quiet though it was totally off season. Tv was very new and a good size. My only negative was the mattress in the bed was absolutely terrible sagging in the middle it was that old. Someone badly needs to address this.

We stayed in room 30, really nice room on the second floor. It was very spacious and had everything we needed. The only thing that let it down was the bed. Every time you moved, it creaked quite loud. Unfortunately we had little sleep because of it which affected our plans for the next day

Room was great, wifi was non existent in the room. The stand out for us was the amazing lady looking after breakfast this morning(19/12). She was amazing and a credit to your staff. Sorry don’t know her name, just Remember she had large black glasses. I’ll buy her a pint next time we’re in the uk.

My wife and enjoyed our stay at this wonderful hotel, staff are really friendly helpful and polite, and the food was excellent, car park is not that spacious. You can only say you’ve stayed at the Royal once you’ve meet Carol.

I booked this stay for mum and my great aunt both over 80. Every Member of staff was exceptionally polite and helpful and made this short break very enjoyable for both of them they were made to feel exceptionally special.. The hotel left a card in my great aunts room wishing her a happy 80th birthday which made her day. On Behalf of myself, My mum Margaret Evans and my great aunt Mary Thompkins we can't thank you all enough. We would all highly recommend this hotel and the excellent service provided by all. From Front of house, the chefs, bar staff and Waitresses and also the cleaners. THANK YOU

Just a great place to eat drink and sleep credit to all at royal staff so good from booking in bar staff and the wonderful lady at breakfast. I travel the uk on bussiness and this is one of the best places to stay breakfast is the best i have had for a while Well done keep it up

The Royal Hotel is perfectly located for the town centre whilst being easily accessible from the A40. Our room had a lovely view over the river towards Wales and we could leave the sliding door open all night so the room was lovely and cool for sleeping. The food in the restaurant was also great and the staff very friendly and welcoming.

We felt very welcome here. The hotel is well staffed and our room was comfortable and clean. We ate breakfast and evening meal here, both were good. Hotel occupies a great position in the town overlooking the Wye valley. The town centre is a very short walk. Parking is tight but adequate. A USB or 13A socket either side of the bed would have been useful.

From the minute we arrived the staff were so friendly, efficient, always on hand. Parking was fine, our clean Superior room gave us spectacular views over the wonderful countryside and River Wye, as a listed building you take on the decor. Ross is a great central spot for travelling around.

The property is in a beautiful position overlooking the river Wye. The menu caters for a variety of needs. We didn't have an evening meal but the breakfast was plentiful. It is a very short walk into town and a short drive from beautiful places such as Symonds Yat. Will return.

The hotel is ideally situated for the Wye Valley with great views. We had a great room which had plenty of space including a sofa, clean, great facilities and well serviced. The breakfast was really good with a great choice and the breakfast staff were really welcoming and friendly. Also the hotel had good quality pub food at a reasonable cost. We look forward to staying again.

Friendly and helpful staff across the board. Comfortable beds and lovely views from the room if you're in the west-facing side. Ideal location for exploring the town and five minutes walk down to the riverside path.

The surroundings around this hotel are beautiful, the views from our window stretched right across the river & fields. We booked in to have dinner & everything was superb, they catered for a very fussy eater too which was great. Our waitress couldn't do enough for us. The bed was immaculately clean & very comfy, we both slept really well.

The staff were amazing and very friendly. The room as spacious and comfortable. Bathroom a little small but adequate. Location great and handy for the town. Eat somewhere else though , the food is poor to mediocre. Breakfast fruit and yoghurt was great but nothing cooked was of good quality. Avocado on toast tasted like mushy peas. Nachos were disgusting and risotto was a mushy rice dish.

Great location, parking awkward and limited, property rather tired in places, needs a a refurb. Breakfast (full English especially) was poor value for money. Beer prices were eye wateringly expensive! Fantastic view from the terrace.

The room was a lovely size, appropriately furnished, and very pleasant to be and stay in. All staff I encountered were lovely and very helpful. And the food was fantastic.

I had a superior room and I was very pleased. The room was massive, the bed was comfy and the bath was lovely too. I had a Sunday roast in the restaurant too and that was delicious. Breakfast was great too. I felt very relaxed and wish I could have stayed for longer!

Quite disappointed on arrival at 9.30pm a they say no food available to order and only a bag of cashews at the bar. The room was two floors up And the floorboards were very noisy. Also the bathroom/toilet door had no lock and keeper opening whilst in use. Great staff though, incredibly friendly And lovely breakfast

Lovely hotel on excellent location. Very helpful and friendly staff. Room was large, comfortable bed and good bathroom. Tea & coffee provided, with biscuits which were restocked daily. Excellent breakfast, lovely staff. Good, well priced restaurant menu. Would recommend.

This Grade 2 listed building is a joy to visit. We stayed in the room called ‘ The Old Curiosity Shop’ with a nod to Charles Dickens who had stayed at the hotel where he launched his literary tour. The views were outstanding from our window looking out over the Wye Valley. We thoroughly enjoyed Dinner at the hotel and breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Had a good stay, room was clean, staff friendly, adequate parking and amenities close to town. My only niggle is the temperature of the room, was an oven and make for an uncomfortable sleep. Decor is a bit dated, but can’t be helped. There also seems to be what appears to be a bird nest or something in the roof or something because inwas aware there was no floor above me and the noise the birds were making and rustling about in the early hours was quite frustrating. Couple of little elements will elevate this hotel to excellent, but overall I had a good stay and the breakfast was great too. Thanks.
